Located in Oak Hall between historic Boalsburg and Lemont, our country style farmhouse is just 4 miles from PSU and 5 miles from downtown State College. A perennial nursery also sits on our 17 acres. Four of our guest rooms have queen size beds and private baths. Our fifth room is handicapped accessible with two twin beds and a private bathroom with roll-in shower. Each room sleeps two, but roll-away beds are available to accommodate a third person in most rooms. The B&B was newly built in 2005 with the latest in safety features. Fully air conditioned and smoke free, we have high speed wireless internet capabilities. Stroll through our gardens, hike Mount Nittany or just sit and enjoy the warmth of the wood fireplace. Think of us when you plan a football weekend, anniversary celebration, wedding reception, luncheon, business meeting or a weekend getaway.

We stayed at this hidden gem for one night for a quick trip to see our son at Penn State. We traveled with our older son who has physical disabilities and we were so happy to have found a B&B that could accommodate a wheelchair as well as an accessible bathroom. While staying in most hotels we never encounter ADA issues, but it is hard to find such a lovely inn that is as welcoming as this one. Joe, the inn keeper was very friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we were well taken care of. Our room was clean, comfortable, nicely furnished and large enough to comfortably accommodate all three of us. The inn itself is beautiful. The common areas are nicely furnished, comfortable and inviting. It was wonderful for my son to see a plate of freshly baked cookies waiting for us when we arrived. Breakfast the next day was delicious. The scones were awesome and the stratta was perfect too. We have already reserved a room for a football weekend this fall. The location is pretty close to the campus. Getting to and from downtown State College was very easy. We will become frequent guests, I am sure.

I have been a repeat guest at The Rock Garden for years now, and I have never been anything less than thrilled with my stay. I first visited when my daughter was considering PSU and we are now booked for graduation! Joe Thomas is a wonderful host. He always goes the extra mile to make us feel welcome and our stay just perfect. The property is very clean, incredibly comfortable and beautifully maintained. Don't give it another thought, book now, you will not be disappointed!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the B&B at the Rock Garden. The house was so beautiful, decorated just right and very cozy and welcoming. Joe was quite the host; from chocolate chip cookies Friday to warm brownie Saturday's, our stay was very special. The breakfast was out of this world. I eagerly await another chance to go back!

We were so impressed with Joe and Laura's hospitality during our recent two night stay over Penn State Family Weekend. Our room was spotless and beautiful. The inn is very peaceful and breakfasts were delicious. The availability to 322 and into the stadium and BJC is a breeze. We will definitely make this our PSU destination again and will refer our friends. And, being at the Paul McCartney concert made this a truly memorable visit! JC and Linda Calhoun

Our thanks to Joe for putting up with 8 former State High girlfriends staying overnight in your B&B last Wednesday. We were, without a doubt, a challenge for you, knowing this was your first experience with 8 chatty women occupying your house. We sincerely want to thank you for all you did to make our stay an enjoyable one. The rooms were extra clean with very comfortable beds, as well as the bathrooms with fluffy white towels, and the breakfast was out of this world. We give you and your B&B an A+++++

I have been staying at the Rock Garden for Penn State football games over the last the last 8 years. I have stayed in multiple B&Bs in the State college area and this is the best. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the common areas are inviting. Joe and Laura are wonderful hosts. The location is great. Close to PSU at the foot of Mount Nittany. Greeting the morning with coffee on the porch is a relaxing way to start the day.

We were visiting State College for a wedding and most of the party stayed at hotels. I was so glad we were at The Rock Garden. It felt like home, only better because Joe made breakfast! Thanks, Joe. He also provided important extras that made our stay unforgettable

We had a great time at the B&B at the rock garden. Although our stay was brief, we loved the house and the rooms were beautiful and very spacious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to the state college area. Best blueberry pancakes in town. Thanks Joe and Laura, we can't wait to return.

We stayed at The Rock Garden over Memorial Day Weekend. Our 16 year old daughter was participating in Happy Volley. Over 5,000 girls descending on Penn State. B&B very convenient to campus, less than 10 minutes with traffic. I was on a restricted carb free diet at the time. LOL did not plan on that in January when I made reservations. I had fresh strawberries ready for me and 2 hard boiled eggs. He was great. His breakfasts smelled yummy and my husband enjoyed them. There was a fruit basket filled with apples, bananas, and oranges at your disposal, as well as a variety of drinks. My husband and daughter (I gave her mine) loved the yummy chocolate chip cookies which are out in the evening. Will definitely return.
