Great Breakfast, Not So Great Bed

3.2 on July 28, 2015

The staff was exceptionally friendly, warm and welcoming. The breakfast was both pleasing to the eye and the palate! The price was reasonable and the cleanliness as was as to be expected. The accessibility was poor from the very narrow entrance (barely accommodated a Honda CRV) to the need for re-laying of the bricks in the sidewalk (two are real trippers) to the multitude of steps that proved a challenge even though we are considered in good physical shape. The bed slanted in an odd upward position which was only a plus in terms of getting one closer to the ceiling fan. Although it was pleasantly warm outside, the room was unbearably hot calling for the need to run the air conditioner (extremely noisy) as well as the ceiling fan simultaneously. There is absolutely no flexibility with the time of breakfast. We were informed it is served at 8:30 and those who are not present are assumed to be not indulging in the first meal of the day. We were offered a box breakfast to take with us as the main attractions of the area (antique flea markets) are open for business at 7:30AM, some sooner. The plus of the stay was the Jacuzzi which operated nicely and proved a relaxing treat after an exhausting day of antiquing. We would not stay at this residence again, just too many negatives.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. Receiving feedback from our guests is very important to us. We strive to give our guests the best experience possible, and we are saddened to hear that you were not happy with the feather-bed topping the Serta’s Perfect Sleeper mattress. If there are ever any issues with your experience while staying with us, we urge you to bring it to our attention immediately so that we can promptly make it right. This summer has been very hot and humid, and it can be difficult to keep the rooms a comfortable temperature without having the air conditioner running. We would have been happy to have offered you different accommodations that may have better suited your needs, both with the temperature and the style of bed. We would also like to thank you for bringing to our attention the 2 bricks that needed adjusted on our sidewalk. We took care of the issue immediately, as our guests safety is a major concern to us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your breakfasts. Again, we would like to thank you for providing us with feedback so that we can always give the best experience possible for our guests

One of the best!

5 on May 29, 2015

This is one of the best, if not the best, bed and breakfasts I've stayed at. The room, the house, the breakfast ---- all first class. But it is the staff that wins the prize --------- not just one, but nearly everyone that works there has an awesome personality and will bend over backwards to make sure you enjoy your stay. Cannot speak highly enough and planning our return.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for the kind words and high praises! We very much appreciate them. It was our sincere honor to host your stay. Please come back to see us very soon...

Simply Wonderful!!

5 on May 14, 2015

Our first visit was in February, 2014. Unfortunately, due to an impending blizzard, we had to leave a day early. Our visit, this time, was in April and the climate was much improved. Not only were we able to enjoy 2 amazing breakfasts prepared by Chef Taylor, but our room, the Garnet Room was adorable, comfy and had a lovely balcony to relax on and enjoy. If you want a wonderful B&B experience, the Amethyst Inn is the one for you! :)

Innkeeper Response
So happy there was better weather for you this time around. I would have to agree with you the the Garnet Room, with a private balcony and 2 person whirlpool tub, is definitely a guest favorite. Looking forward to your next visit!

Great stay at the Amethyst Inn

5 on March 30, 2015

I had a very relaxing stay at the Amethyst Inn, and I am very grateful to the wonderful owners and staff. My room was very nice and clean, I enjoyed the Jacuzzi in my bathroom, the bed was very comfortable and I had a good night sleep. I loved the breakfasts – the food was great, and Gluten Free breakfasts are available. I tried several Gluten Free dishes, and they were so tasty I got a recipe for one of them. Everyone is very personable and helpful, I appreciate the little cute trinkets and sweets I received during my stay. ¿ The location is great for anyone interested in antiques – it’s very close to all the Antique stores and malls. I was also able to get to Lancaster Outlets within about 20 minutes. I would highly recommend the Amethyst Inn to anyone who wants to have a nice relaxing mini-vacation.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for recommending The Amethyst Inn for other travelers. Your kind words are very thoughtful. We are happy to have been able to accommodate your dietary restrictions and are so pleased you enjoyed the food. Hope you will come again real soon...

The standard of excellence!

5 on March 22, 2015

The Amethyst is the standard by which my wife and I judge every other inn or B&B by. They are the best.

Innkeeper Response
WOW! I can not imagine a higher praise than that, with the exception of you coming back to stay (which will hopefully be soon). Thank you so much... Our sincere appreciation.
