We found the property to be clean, boasting an exceptional staff, remarkable presentation of the breakfast courses (4 in all) and the price to be reasonable. Unfortunately the only way to maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature in the room was to run both the air conditioner and the overhead fan. The air conditioner is extremely loud, which resulted in very little sleep and a need for ear plugs. The mattress was at a distinct grade, leaving one feeling they were sleeping on an incline. Breakfast was served promptly at 8:30 AM, with no exception or flexibility (we would suggest 7-8:30, perhaps), leaving the tourist to the rigid schedule of the establishment. They were willing to pack a travel box for those wishing to leave before 8:30AM. The accessibility was very poor. There are multiple layers of steps beginning from your entrance via the parking lot to finally reaching your room. You are traveling through various rooms to reach the stairs and although both of us are considered physically fit it was quite the stair climbing ordeal. Two trippers in the entrance brick sidewalk - definitely in need of re-laying. Most challenging is aiming your vehicle through the beautiful stone pillars at the entranceway to the steep hill to get to the residence. Seriously, we just barely made it with a Honda CRV. Although we travel down to the area frequently we would never stay at the Amethyst Inn (one of the Adamstown Inn properties) again.

The names of the rooms are a true designation of the 'GEM' this find proved to be. Each has its own distinction and makes a new visitor want to go back and experience another on their next visit. Tom was as pleasing a host as was Elizabeth's 4-course breakfast ensemble. His tales of other properties makes me want to travel to them to see their beauty too. Upon entering earlier than our given check-in time, which we found extremely courteous and appealing to any customer, the downstairs area smelled of fresh baked goodies for the 'guest'. I emphasize 'guest' because we truly felt more at home here than at any hotel/motel can provide. The ambiance set the tone for our visit and will be a lasting memory for "Beau and his Lady", one that we will take with us into eternity. So if you are in the Adamstown area and are searching for that 'Special place' to just get-away, make this B&B your first call and pray they still have a room at their 'home away from home' delight. One item I will advise on is be sure to take the smaller vehicle as it is a tad tight driving between the stone pillars that mark the driveway entrance or you might need to park on the street level. Thanks again Tom, Wanda and Liz for making our 'Heavenly' night that much more incredible. We'll be back and who knows how soon that may be. God bless and may He always watch over all your places.

What a wonderful place to spend our 25th Anniversary weekend. We stayed in the Amber room, enjoyoed the 2 person jacuzzi and massage/shower. The hosts were a delight and even accommodated my gluten/wheat free dietary needs. The hosts were knowledgeable about area events, antique shops and dining. The Inn was such a refreshing break from the daily busyness. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

We experienced the warmth and relaxation we set out for at the Amethyst Inn. The breakfasts were delicious and very creative. The room was so clean and beautifully appointed. A whirlpool jacuzzi, a european multi-jets shower, gas fireplace and huge comfy bed made the room it's own destination. The wide, shaded front porch became the perfect respite for an afternoon book and drink. Everyone made you feel like you were welcome - highly recommend this wonderful inn.

our stay as always was a wonderful experience. Tom and Wanda are such wonderful people, they make our stay as if we were at home. Kristen is such a wonderful cook and wonderful person as we'll. we have been going to the Adamstown Inn for the past eight years and our stay is wonderful every time. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. We love this place!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arthur and Stephanie

This is a beautiful, well maintained B & B! We were very pleased with our accommodations. Breakfast was delicious! It is very convenient to local attractions, yet if you want to stay in, it is very private, despite being on Main St. Will definitely recommend to others.

We would recommend this bed and breakfast to those who are interested in getting away for a nice weekend retreat. The inn is located very close to Stragsburg and Lancaster City (about 30 minutes). The breakfasts were AMAZING--the best that we have every had and we have stayed at a number of B and B's in PA, DE and MD. The only down point of our vacation was that you can hear a lot through the walls of the inn bedrooms...and I mean A LOT. It was unfortunate that we could not truly relax when we heard the couple in the next room arguing and then "making up". It would be recommended that the rooms have a little more of a sound barrier between them. Over all the inn Keepers were very nice and very accommodating.
Thank you for your review and for choosing us for your vacation in Lancaster County, PA. We appreciate feedback about the breakfast. We have recently revised the breakfast menu and are pleased to know our guests are enjoying the changes. We do apologize for the noise; we have tried to maintain the architectural details from the 1800’s and have left the door between these two rooms so we would have an adjoining room for family members. We are looking into options to help reduce the noise. Thank you again for your feedback.

Words can't even describe how much I loved this adorable bed & breakfast. They need to add sound effects on here because the entire experience was amazing…I mean…(pinches finger tips together on each side of ear as I make explosion noise, hands motion away as finger tips open)…it absolutely blew my mind and my expectations out of the water. I can't even count how many times I said, "Awww!!" as I entered every room in the house. The family was so incredibly polite and welcoming (and very comical, I might add). I will definitely be back again!

The Ameythst Inn offered us a delightful weekend getaway for our wedding anniversary. The Topaz Room, where we stayed, was beautifully appointed with Victorian era antiques, complemented by the modern conveniences of a jacuzzi tub, gas fireplace and TV (if one cares to watch it). The breakfasts served were delectable, ranging from open-faced egg sandwiches to bacon-artichoke quiche. Our host, Tom, shared many entertaining stories with us, and gave us the opportunity to interact with Cecil, the lovable Old English sheepdog, who lives next door with the innkeepers. I would highly recommend the Amethyst Inn for a weekend stay, even if you don't want to meet the dog!

We really enjoyed the unique, tasty, and original breakfasts. Also the many fresh flowers in the room and the small gift packages were greatly appreciated. Steep driveway was a little tricky to negotiate, but owners were most understanding and helpful in assisting us with baggage. Highly recommend and will visit again if we return to Pa Dutch Country.

My husband and I were thrilled with the Amethyst Inn, the hospitality, cleanliness, amazing breakfast and coziness!! Couldn't have been any better along with the wonderful antiques surrounding the area which we love to do. We will certainly be going back and have already told many people about this wonderful little getaway! Thanks again!

The room was absolutely beautiful and full of gorgeous antiques. I would highly recommend staying at the Adamstown inn if you're looking for a romantic evening or just an interesting place to stay. The staff was nice and helpful. They even mailed us something we forgot. You will not regret choosing the Adamstown Inn.

We booked a weekend at the last minute and the ownership was most accomodating on a holiday weekend....graciously accepting my calll at 11:30 p.m. The room was impeccable and quaint....service was outstanding and beyond expectation. The unique breakfast choices are delightful....We will return often based on their uncommon hospitality. There is no other option for bed and Breakfasts in Adamstown for US! Thank you Tom, Kristen and Cecil......

We stayed in the Jade room. It is extra large room with gas fireplace with a large bathroom w/jacuzzi. The decor is lovely and the room was extremely clean. Nice little surprises each day on our bed!. Lovely homemade breakfast service with a friendly warm smile each day. This is a quiet getaway for a couple, we loved it!

The suite was the most amazing we were on our honeymoon. This was our first bed and breakfast experience and to say the least we were very impressed. We had stayed before in an executive suite in Las Vegas and it lived up to that experience and then some. This was far more pleasing than the executive suite. We loved the entire stay and are planning on visiting again soon. We hated to end our trip. The room was beautiful and tranquil, the breakfast was delicious, and the hospitality was wonderful. Thanks again so much.

This was the first B&B we have stayed at.Everything was great. Tom and his wife were great host. The only down side we could see was , The distance you have to drive (if you like Lancaster) for attractions. Other then that would recommend to all who like B&B's. Tom & Pam D'Amico Ocean City, Md

Very nice! Good bang for the buck due to location. Adamstown is on the outskirts of Amish Country, between Lancaster and Reading. Good for antiques. Local restaurants were not impressive. Pleasant driving from Adamstown to other towns.

Adamstown Inn was the first time my boyfriend (now fiance) spent the night together about 2 1/2 years ago. We fell in love at Adamstown. This past December my boyfriend proposed to me during our stay! It was absolutely perfect. One of the most romantic places that we have every stayed. We go back every year around December. We are going to have our engagment photo shoot here! Overall, I can not put into words how great this B+B is, just please go and see for yourself! -Gina Burgese

This was a lovely, quaint, very clean and comfortable b&b. The room by far exceeded our expectations where we enjoyed a multi jetted/steam shower/jacuzzi/ see-thru F/P which just added to the romanticness of the occassion. The lemon-creme delights were heavenly! Everything was perfect and after 16 yrs of marriage..looking forward to even heading back for a "baby" package..in the near future...and a special gratitude to the owner, his attributes and hospitality during our stay were endless...

The Inn was wonderful!! It was as if we had the entire house to ourselves. Tom greeted us warmly upon our arrival...anticipating any questions we may have had. Kristin was warm, friendly & helpful as well. Our room was very pleasant & filled with unexpected details & surprises..i.e. complimentary brandy. Breakfast was good, I would have preferred a bit more basic fare, but it was fun to try different foods. Our stay was a very pleasant experience!

My boyfriend and I stayed here in December, close to the Christmas holidays. We decided to visit PA Dutch Country more or less on a whim (I grew up in the area, but my boyfriend is from Singapore and so had never seen the Amish), and since I was set on staying at a B&B we decided to try the Adamstown Inns and Cottages. What a treat! Everything was first rate, from start to finish. Our room was quaint, yet comfortable; breakfast was delicious; and best of all, the convenient location enabled us to easily explore all of the PA Dutch Country attractions. The fact that the Inn was festively decorated for Christmas just added to the ambiance. Our trip was very special, and the Adamstown Inn just made it more so. We will definitely stay here again if our travels take us back to the area!

This was our first time at a B&B. We were so pleasantly surprised! Our Ruby Suite was awesome, the breakfasts were scrumptious, and the entire staff was superb. We were not treated as guests, but as extended family. From the Inn's furnishings, to the amenities and treats, the entire stay was perfect! Jeff & Deb Hollenshead

Can't say enough about how amazing this experience was!!! The owners and staff were kind, accommodating, and made the visit more then a pleasure. The room was charming and romantic and everything worked like a charm!!! The homemade breakfast each morning was to die for :-) I would not hesitate for a second, and will absolutely, stay again, soon!!!!!!!

This is our 3rd time staying here. We love, love, love it in the cottages. We always get the wine package they offer, it's a little extra money but well worth it. They also always put together a little something extra for our son who is 9, a bag full of goodies for him at no charge! The beds are sooooo comfortable. Tom and Wanda just know how to put those extra touches on everything right down to the wonderful bath towels!!! In a great location too, not to far from Lancaster or Reading. We make it a family trip every year to come here and it always is a wonderful time. Sandra W.

Hello Tom & Wanda, My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We have visited many B&B's and the Ametist Inn was one of the finest. From the momemt we signed in until the time we left we felt catered to. We received a welcoming gift upon arrival and when we left we were given a "thank you " gift. Food was outstanding and our stay was wonderful. Tom was an outstanding Inn Keeper. I would be happy to recommend staying at this wonderful B&B. Diane & Ken Nelson

The Adamstown Inn is wonderful B&B. The breakfast of fresh baked muffins, scones, apple crisp, baked strawberries and other fresh breakfast treats are exquisite. The Inn is filled with an amazing mixture of antiques and glassware. We felt special with a gift left on our pillow every night. Tom and Wanda's hospitality, attention to detail and personal touch made us feel so welcomed. We look forward to our next visit. Roger & Eileen

The stay was exceptional starting with the check in where you were given information about the area including restaurants with directions. Tom, Wanda and Kristen are a wonderful team. Breakfast was delicious and Tom was not only available for every need, he was entertaining as well. The room was decorated with charm and very comfortable and extremely clean. There was many amentities including a farewell snack box for the road when leaving. A return stay for my husband and I is a must.

We had a lovely stay for 2 days while we explored the area antique shops. The bed and jacuzzi in the Garnet Suite were very comfortable, the breakfast each day delicious. It was a much needed quiet little break and we would like to return for another stay.

We were able to secure a room at the last minute for our weekend get away. The Stork room was cozy and the nightly treats on the bed were a nice addition. The hall bath was ours alone and the bathrobes were very nice. The only negative has to do with having to go to a different house for breakfast. Especially the morning it was pouring rain. It would have been nice to have breakfast downstairs in the beautiful dining room. The breakfast is served by the owners and has a high tea feel. Delicious baked goods, cereals, coffee and juices. It was very tasty but feels more continental than what we are accustomed to at a B and B. I would definitely recommend the local brewing company for dinner. The steaks and fish were wonderful. We would stay again but perhaps at the inn where breakfast is served if available. Thanks so much for a relaxing weekend.

This was our first bed and breakfast for my wife and I and we could not be happier. Everything was all that we could ask it to be. The room was super and was very quiet. We did not know what to expect for breakfast but we were delighted each morning as we were treated like royalty. Tom, Wanda and Kristin were great and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with Tom and the helpful suggestions he made when we asked about restaurants and for ideas as to what to see and do. Thanks Tom and Wanda. You definitely deserve our highest ratings!

We booked 2 nights ... could only stay one ... our home ran out of water and we decided we HAD to go home ... we notified the innkeeper and was sent a partial gift cert. I felt the second night should be refunded 100% ... we understood why they didn't ... live and learn ... our door would not close securely ... I see the need to keep it all "original" but if the door is broke and only held shut by a deadbolt ... sorry ... FIX IT ... plus the hallway light was on all night long which shone in our room because of the broken door ... the knob literally was wobbling ... well that kept me from sleeping securely ... I have a gift cert. if anyone would like to buy it from me ... it's for $75 ...
We are very sorry the guest need to depart early, but they left at approximately 7 pm, which did not allow us time to re-rent the room. We did send a gift certificate for half of the rental cost. We were also unaware of the issues with the room door which we would have fixed immediately or offered them different accommodations. The door is the original 10 foot door and the screws securing the door had become loose. The door was fixed as soon as we became aware of the problem. It is our policy to address any issue and try to resolve all concerns immediately. We are very sorry the guest did not mention their concerns while they were staying with us.

Our stay in the Ruby Suite was superb. Much more than we expected. The huge bed was full of beautiful pillows and a big soft fluffy feather comforter. By the bed was a wonderful cd player and romantic music to listen to while we soaked in the great big 2 person jacuzzi tub while peeking at one of the two fireplaces !!!!!!!!! Our own private entrance was quite nice and convenient to parking. The Brandy was there to enjoy before bed with the treats left out for us if we got hungry. The second bathroom with the steam shower was pure luxury. Our breakfast was served in a beautiful diningroom by friendly smiling faces each morning. We felt like royalty and enjoyed a very romantic 3 days. When we were ready to leave Cecil gave us a goodbye kiss. Thank you for true bed and breakfast hospitality and more. I'm sure we will see you again. Peggy and Ronald from Maryland

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our suite and the decor of all the rooms. We stayed in the cobalt room and it was extremely well suited for our needs. The jacuzzi tub was the best and very relaxing. I especially loved the porch that was attached to our room fully equiped with a porch swing. The rest of the house was charming and peaceful. Our breakfast was exception and part of that is due to the service of the owner who engages all his guests in wit and banter. Wanda's breakfast choices are delicious and Tom's humor is just what you need to get your morning started. My husband and I will return again and again because we feel at home there. Thank you Tom and Wanda for such a restfull and blessed weekend.

We stayed in the Regar Room in the original Adamstown Inn. The room was wonderful. Even though the bed was comfortable once you got in it I needed a boost to get in. The jacuzzi was wonderful! We used it every night! We had a wonderful stay but would warn guests that to get to the parking lot you have to walk up and down a very steep hill. Breakfast is served at the "main" inn which is about a block away but you have to climb up steep steps to get into the "main" inn. We do not have mobility issues so it was not a problem for us. We enjoyed Tom & Wanda's knowledge about the different antique shops.

My husband and I chose to stay at the Amythyst Inn for our honeymoon. We have never been to a bed and breakfast and weren't quite sure what to expect. Tom checked us in and was very helpful and friendly. We had paid for the Topaz room, but were kindly "upgraded" to the Jade room with a king size bed which was an extra special blessing! There was water, coffee, tea and hot chocolate we were able to help ourselves to at all times. Each morning we were served a delicious variety of foods, from fresh fruit to muffins, breads, and pastries. The food and service was excellent. We definitely plan to revisit the Amythyst Inn. I highly recommend it; we were very impressed. Location is great also, not far from Reading or Lancaster.

The Innkeepers and staff are welcoming and helpful, the rooms wonderfully decorated...overall a perfect get away, and my favorite part is the breakfast, always something new and DELICIOUS. Our goal is to stay in all the rooms, 4 down.. 6 more and 3 cottages to go.

Recently stayed in the Redcay Room for our 20th Anniversary. Room exceeded all of our expectations. Room temperature was perfect. Numerous games and puzzles to keep the mind from being idle. King-size bed was covered with pillows of any texture to meet any demand. Bathroom and Jacuzzi were extremely roomy. Owners met and greeted numerous times throughout our stay. Breakfast variety may not meet everyone's delight, but if you left breakfast hungry, it was your own fault. Great add on packages for your stay.
