Was it luck or fate that saved this House?....It was the combined effort of the railroad craftsmen who constructed it the Newlin Family who protected it for nearly six decades. Dudley and Peggy McNitt who upon purchasing it from Ed Newlin refurbished the house and opened it to the public. Then on March 16 2011 a stranger from Philadelphia took over as Innkeeper and finished finding the forgotten Masonic Symbolism that went unnoticed for years. There is magic here and you as a guest who appreciates special unique houses...you travelers...why settle for the moon...there are stars at Stony Point

Amazing Bed and Breakfast, Fantastic Innkeeper

    October 30, 2011

The weekend started off a bit slow and tedious with all of the Penn State homecoming traffic coming up 322 but as soon as we were greeted at the door by Paul it was all worth it. After we got situated in the room (Shenandoah Room) Paul invited my wife and I down to the Dinning room for a little evening meet and greet with the other guests. I've stayed at other B&B's and this was the first one where the Innkeeper had a little meet and greet on the first night of the weekend stay. We both had a great time getting to know the other guests. After the Dinning room Paul encouraged the guests to explore the down stairs rooms and we all ended up in the Library where Paul told us a little bit of the history of the house. Saturday morning started with a fantastic breakfast of Blueberry Pancakes, Sausage and Eggs, Cinamon Bread, Coffee (Great Coffee) and juice. The Blueberry Pancakes were some of the best I ever had. We spent Saturday exploring the area (Old Bedford Village, Bedford Pa and several winerys in the area). After dinner Saturday night we came back to the Inn to have a little wine and cheese with the other guests. Sunday morning started off with another fantastic breakfast. The house house has a very warm and inviting feeling, we both didn't want to leave. Paul is a very friendly Innkeeper and loves to talk to the guests about the history of the house. The Shenandoah room is a very nice room with a private bath, the amazing thing about the house is that all of the original fixtures are still in the house including all of the bathroom fixtures. One other thing I noticed about this Bed and Breakfast is how clean it is, even the comforter on the bed smelled freshly washed. You won't be dissapointed if you decided to stay at Stony Point Bed and Breakfast. If it wasn't for the fact I'm moving to Chicago I'd come back in a heart beat.

    Above and Beyond

    October 18, 2011

Paul and his other guests turned our weekend at Stony Brook into an unexpected event! My daughter and I orginally booked a room so that we would have easy access to State College for Homecoming at PSU. The game was great but the experience at Stony Brook was incredible!! We arrived early but were welcomed into the kitchen to watch Paul prepare the evening meal. It was advertised as a bar-b-que but was much, much more. The conversation was easy and lively. We were immediately at home. As other guests arrived they were made to feel just as welcome and received the same individualized tour of the house. And what a house! Paul's hard work in the restoration is apparent and his pride in the detail is contagious. Although elegance abounds; the home is warm and inviting. The living room and library offer nice gathering spots for newly made friends or intimate conversations with old friends. The guest rooms are spacious and have all the amenities of an upscale hotel. Every room is immaculate. As it turned out guests were using Stony Point for a starting point to go in all directions the weekend we stayed. The easy accessibilty to Hwy 220 makes travel to many small towns convenient. Stony Point could be a destination in itself or a enjoyable starting point for any journey. I would highly reccomend this inn for any season! KB

    Outstanding Stay at Stony Point

    October 17, 2011

We had a fabulous stay at Stony Point. The place is impeccable. The owner, Paul, goes above and beyond to welcome you and make sure your stay is pleasurable. He has worked very hard to make Stony Point an outstanding bed and breakfast. We stayed at Stony Point during a recent visit to Penn State. It is a quick drive to State College and well worth the stay.

    What a Place!

    October 15, 2011

My husband and I always find a different B&B to celebrate my Birthday weekend. My husband found Stony Point. I looked at the pictures and fell in love with the place. It was very easy making the reservations and Paul, the Innkeeper, called to confirm them within an hour. Well when we arrived, the house was more beautiful than the pictures. It has a lot of the original features, which reminded me of my Grandma's house. Paul greeted us and give us a tour and the history of the place. Everything was very clean and in its proper place. Our bedroom had all the amenities we needed. The next day and two days later we enjoyed delicious breakfasts. We even participated in a wine and cheese event with other guess and the owner and the Innkeeper. Stony Point is located between several towns where you can go and enjoy shopping and the history of the Railroad. We really had a wonderful time and we can't go back. Paul you really make our stay the BEST!

    Another wonderful stay

    September 20, 2011

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay again at this wonderful bed and breakfast; if I posted all the positive experiences we encountered during our stay one would think I was the innkeeper or a marketing firm hired by the B&B. The rooms are clean!!!!!; the food fantastic, Paul the innkeeper loves his profession and it shows. If you like history, good food and staying in a gorgeous mansion, the Stony Point B&B is for you!

    perfect B&B

    August 06, 2011

What a treat!! Everything was as described by Paul, the innkeeper. I called late in the day and he couldn't have been more accommodating. From making a room available to the call back message "Rob, I just made some dinner if you would like some" Wow, it should be a dinner and bed and breakfast!! The house was just like the pictures show it. I slept soundly with the windows open and no outside traffic noise just the sound of nature in the morning. Breakfast was ready when I came downstairs and if I could, I would have stayed another night with my daughter who I was picking up from camp. When Paul found out about the camp he gave me their rate that I new nothing about. Very honest! I will be back

    Updated Charm

    June 27, 2011

The town is pure Americana, nestled into the Allegheny foothills. The house is beautiful. It's been updated with modern amenities (A/C, flatscreen TVs) but keeps its charm with touches like original wallpaper and moldings. The furnishings are classic and comfortable. We spent time on one of the spacious porches, a perfect place to wait for an early-afternoon spring storm to pass. And yes, the fruit-and-nut-studded monkey bread is as good as other reviewers have said. The innkeepers have done a wonderful job in making this a relaxing getaway.
