Countryside Retreat at the Sheradin's

My girlfriend and I spent the labor day weekend at this quaint getaway. On Saturday we had a great breakfast and then spent the day hiking at Bushkill falls. In the evening we had a nice candle Lit dinner at nearby Stone Bar Inn, then soaked in the cedar hot tub sipping on adult beverages back at the Bed and Breakfast. On Sunday we went to Camel Back Ski area and did some Zip lining (Pretty Awesome!) In the afternoon we spent the day relaxing at the bed and breakfast fishing in the stocked lake and cooking burgers on the grill. Truly a great getaway and plenty to do in the nearby area. I would definitley go back.

My wife and I had a wonderful relaxing three days at the scenic Countryside Retreat at the Sheradins. Our hosts Ron and Alla were friendly and accommodating. Our room was beautiful and the breakfast was great. It was so romantic that my wife and I decided to renew our vows after 34 years of marriage. Our stay rejuvinated our love and spirits. Can't go wrong if you decide to come here,

My husband and I chose this B&B for a weekend getaway to celebrate our first anniversary and we absolutely loved it! We felt the owners gave us the right mix of social interaction and privacy. The breakfast each morning was very tasty and abundant - we didn't even eat lunch because the breakfast was so filling and plentiful. We stayed in the Emerald Isle Suite and enjoyed having a jacuzzi tub. The shower pressure was nice and the room clean, cozy. We had the opportunity to look at the Aviator's room and would like to say that the pictures don't do it justice - it's a really neat room. We also enjoyed the hot tub one evening and spent some time resting in the hammock. We spent a lot of time fishing, both in the boat and on shore, which was very entertaining. We asked the owners for recommendations of things to do and places to eat locally. We hiked BushKill falls - awesome. We spent a morning at the outlet malls - awesome. We ate out at Stone Bar Inn - expensive and worth it. Btw, we did call ahead before dining there and dressed up but it's a pretty relaxed dress code. We would have been fine in blue jeans. We also ate out at pizza place that we passed near the B&B that was phenomenal. Neither of us can remember the name of the place but the pizza was some of the best we've ever had. We truly had a wonderful and relaxing stay. Our hosts were very accommodating, the place was wonderful!

My husband and I were overdue for some relaxation so we chose Alla & Ron's place. We chose the Delacroix Room, however, due to a slight mix-up on the day of our arrival, we were upgraded to the Nautica Blue Suite! It was really a very over-generous gesture, but we were more than happy. This room had its own balcony, private entrance, living area, and very large bathroom. My only suggestion is that if you want a tub, not a shower stall, to book the Nautica Blue or Emerald Isle Suites. Alla was really a great hostess - vibrant, friendly, and very easy to talk to - not to mention a great cook! Ron was a pretty interesting guy, but he was working on a new building so we didn't get to speak at great length with him. Maybe next time. They were both very eager to help with suggestions and answer any quesitons we had about the area. The lake and surrounding property was very nice. We strolled around, used the hammock and the paddle boat. All in all a very enjoyable stay. I would recommend it!! Thanks again for a wonderful weekend. Hopefully we will be back soon!!

My husband and I stayed three nights. We had to suddenly go to PA for some family stuff, and the hotels around there are miserable. Ron and Alla were very accommodating, but not TOO friendly. You know what I mean. They are really friendly, interesting, and kind people. We've stayed in a lot of of B&Bs and you never know what you're going to get. The food was amazing; you leave breakfast full. Which has also never happened to me while staying at a B&B. The only things I'd change are: brew stronger coffee and fix the soft water. The soft water didn't bother me much, though. We stayed in the Emerald room; amazing bathroom, nice, firm mattress, and cozy little faux fireplace. Would definitely stay again. Next time we hope to go on a plane ride!

We stayed 2 nights at the B&B. The breakfast was very good and abundant both mornings. The hosts were laid back and informative of the area. They had a lot to do around the B&B itself. The room was beautiful. The WiFi was a little weak and our room, but we did not use it much since we were on vacation. We will be back.

My husband and I stayed in the Aviator room 9/28 through 9/30/11. We were visiting a friend nearby and would have booked a longer stay, but we had read a negative review and weren't too impressed with the appearance from the website. This turned out to be one of the most pleasant and impressive B&Bs we have ever stayed at. First, it is an absolutely lovely and peaceful location. Off the main roads, but not too far. The grounds are inviting and well cared for. The interior is IMACCULATE!! The attention to detail in the furnishings is impressive. Everything was clean and carefully chosen. We stayed in the smallest room, which for two of us was ample. We looked at the other rooms which are much larger and totally inviting. The breakfasts were abundant, fresh and creative. We never got to meet Alla, but we found Ron to be a cordial and interesting host. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. It really is a lovely place.

My wife decided to surprise me on my birthday to a weekend getaway at The Countryside Retreat at the Sheradin's during the Labor Day Holiday. When we arrived, we were graciously greeted at the front porch by their very friendly concierge, Chester the dog (very nice). The house and rooms were absolutely charming and Ron and Alla were fantastic hosts. Our conversation was extremely delightful; it was like hanging out with great friends. Every room had it's own charming theme to it - we stayed in the Nautica room which had beautiful nautical decor all around that gave it feel like you were right next to the ocean. The duplex room included a mini-kitchen downstairs and the bedroom upstairs with a walkout porch that overlooks the private lake - it was very picturesque. Breakfast was superb and plentyful - no need for to eat lunch. What a great place to decompress and rejuvenate yourself again; probably the BEST birthday present anyone could ask for. We cannot wait to visit again and I hope that this becomes a regular seasonal outing - Thank you again Ron and Alla for a great time (and of course, Chester, too)! After reading outstanding reviews posted here wife and i decided to spend a few days at Sheradin's. We were not disappointed. Breakfast"s were excellent, no need for lunch. Ron & Allah were very helpful and lots to do in the area. Highlight for us was Bushkill Falls. Look fwd to returning soon Harry K Monroe Twp, NJ

This place was really beautiful and it was wonderful and a great deal to be able to use their boats on the private lake. There was a rowboat, paddleboat, and double inner-tube type thing. There's also a wonderful cedar hot tub that really makes your skin feel soft! Our room, the Emerald Isle suite, was really beautiful and had a jacuzzi tub and a very very comfortable bed. The lake was not huge (so don't expect it to be) but as we were often the only ones on it, that wasn't a big deal- and the water was refreshingly cool. The hosts were really sweet and had a big spread out for breakfast each morning. We really enjoyed our days there and only wish we could have had one more day because living at noon felt like such a pity when we really just wanted to spend the day napping on the double hammock. The only only only negative thing I would have to say is that the water pressure in our bathroom was kind of on the weak side. But other than that tiny thing, everything else was wonderful. Lots of great restuarants nearby as well. Thanks for a great stay!

We booked Sheradin's with 3 other couples, so we had this wonderful B & B to ourselves! Alla and Ron made us feel like it was our own home, offering assistance with anything we needed, but totally left us alone otherwise. The rooms were above average, the lake was refreshing with watercraft aplenty, and the breakfasts were the best any of us had ever had. It was a great experience!

We had an outstanding experience at the Sheradins. The main house is clean and cozy with comfortable rooms (we stayed in Emerald Isle suite, highly recommended). You can tell the house and property are well taken-care of. The property is gorgeous with many amenities that you don't normally get at a BandB. We're pretty experienced "BandB'ers", having stayed at 10 others here in the US, and 10 during our honeymoon in Ireland. This is our FAVORITE so far!!!! Ron and Alla are perfect hosts - even as newlyweds (they just got married the day before we arrived!!!), they were focused only on our enjoyment and relaxation. Their recommendations for dinners, hiking, and a local winery, were much appreciated. But even more appreciated was the atmosphere and amenities that they offer in their own home! We will definitely return. If you're coming from Philadelphia area, it's only about an hour and a half, but a world away :)

We went here for the 4th of July weekend and had a great time. There's a lot of things to do on the property and Ron and Alla were amazing hosts. The beds were extremely comfortable and breakfast was the best I ever had in a hotel or a bed and breakfast. After looking at the website I was not expecting much from this place, but the website does not do it justice. Ron or Alla if you're reading this please update your website to something that mirrors how great your property is. Thanks for an amazing weekend.

My wife and I decided to stay at the Countryside Retreat at the Sheradin's for our anniversary weekend and do some skiing during the day. Ron and Alla are fantastic hosts. The conversation was excellent. The house and rooms are absolutely beautiful, and we are still talking about the breakfast spread! My wife is a master chef - so to impress her with breakfast means it was perfect! We cannot wait to visit again when the weather gets warmer. My wife and I hope that this becomes a regular outing! What a lovely gem in a wonderful location! It's centrally located to many attractions in the Poconos, but had it been summertime, there's plenty to keep you occupied at the inn. I loved being able to relax and re-energize and loved the atmosphere. The innkeepers are wonderful and have great stories and tons of local information. Hoping to return in the summertime and take a plane ride!

we stayed there for our 25th wedding anniversary and had a great time, the owners were very friendly and very helpful making sure you knew where to go and what to see, they also were very kind and bumped us up to a suite for free for our anniversary, we liked it so much that we booked a extra night there so we could go to new york city for the day. the breakfast each day was wonderful and well worth it in just itself, if you left hungry , then that is your fault. rooms were clean and roomy, we stayed in 3 out of 4 rooms while we were there, the owners joked we needed to stay one more nigth so we could stay in the 4th room. our favorite room was the 2 story suite, a separate entrance, spacious room and private bathroom and a kitchenette. the owners provided snowshoes if you wanted to go hiking, helped set up places to go. you do need to drive around 10 miles or so to go eat and shop, but easy to do. the owners provided information on a lot of cool things to go and see, a must is the wineries, camel back ski resort, and some unique antique malls and shops, highly recommend doing the day trip to new york, its around a 10 minute drive to get to the bus pick up and a 1 hr ride to get there downtown, easy trip and buses run all day until late. this b& b was private and you felt at peace there, well worth staying at and we would definitely go back

My girlfriend and I stayed in the emerald suite president's weekend and had a great time. Ron showed us the other rooms before the other guests arrived...each room was very clean and well kept. Both Alla and Ron gave us plenty of suggestions where do go for food and entertainment. The room was great, Alla's cooking was even better and the house was beautiful. Will def. book again.

When entering the facilities we did not know what to expect considering we have never stayed at a Bed & Breakfast before. Yet we were welcomed by Ron the innkeeper and felt right at home. We stayed in the Emerald Isle Suite and it exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast offered in the morning was absolutely delicious and better than any continental breakfast offered in any hotel we've ever stayed at. If you want to get away and relax, in a quiet, peaceful setting, this is the place for you. We have every intention of returning in the summer so we can enjoy the outdoor activities.

We stayed and the Countryside Retreat for a weekend before the holidays. Ron and Alla were very friendly and pleasant. They recommended a wonderful little shop for holiday gifts! The home is beautiful. We are looking forward to coming back when the weather is warm, to take advantage of the outdoor activities that are available! Ron and Alla even offered to let us bring our family up to camp out by the lake!

Place: We had the smaller bedroom (Delacroix room) in this house. The room, while small, was very cozy, clean, and comfortable, and was good value for the money we paid (125$). Other rooms were much bigger and only somewhat higher priced (160$) or so, but were sold out (one even had a jacuzzi). Breakfast was a very elaborate affair, with a range of home-cooked delicious stuff, juices, yogurts, etc... there were more items than we could eat. The hosts were very polite and considerate, my girlfriend forgot her glasses and the owner (Ron) actually found them and mailed them to her. The location is really nice and scenic...it is opposite a large meadow and right by a lake where one can do fishing etc. in the summer. Pocanos/Camelback are a 15 minute ride where it is possible to go skiing/hiking. Overall a great getaway.

Our daughter bought my wife and I a weekend at the Sheridin's B&B. Neither of us were familiar with the area and an internet search only informed us about skiing, which we haven't done in 30 years. We arrived at the Sheridin's Saturday mid afternoon and were greeted by Alla and Ron who are the most well informed and hospitable innkeepers I have met. They quickly made us feel welcomed and suggested dinner at Stone Bar Inn and a play at the Shawnee Playhouse- excellent food followed by wonderful entertainment. Sunday turned out to be thrilling, starting with an abundance of delicious food for breakfast, followed by an airplane tour of the Pocono region given by Ron Sheradin. It was truely a memorable and refreshing weekend to be at Sheradin's B&B. I would recommend this B&B with two thumbs up.

Location is remote in a nice setting, but there are a lot of other options in the Poconos that would offer better service. I have stayed at several B&B's and have never experienced something quite as bad as this. Alla was very friendly, but Ron was extremely rude to us for a mistake he made in putting us in the wrong room. We had no idea, and he notified us the next day acting as if it was our fault. I have never been treated so rudely and unprofessionally by any host. The room he moved us into the next day was so tiny, very cold, and with their personal belongings (packages and gift boxes) stashed away underneath the bed. The "private" bathroom they advertise on their site is not private at all, but across the hall and barely large enough to fit one person. They should really take this false advertising off of their site as I noticed another guest review mentioned the same thing. To make matters worse, he also was not helpful when we would ask for hiking suggestions, it's almost like we were bothering him. It's very unfortunate, as the location seemed nice, but we were anxious to leave the next day. My suggestion is to have Alla deal with the guests if they want return customers.

We have been in the Bed and Breakfast business for over 20 years. Sheradin’s Countryside Retreat is much more than a Bed and Breakfast as we provide our guests with bicycles, a hot tub, boats and a pristine lake for their enjoyment at no additional charge. As you can see by all our exceptional reviews, we graciously share our home; with 25% of our guests returning for a second visit within a year. We provided the guests in this review with directions to a breathtaking hike in Delaware Water Gap, where, when they reached the top of the trail, they could see a panoramic view of three states and the Water Gap National Park. While these guests were on their hike, we called their cell phone to see what they wanted us to do, when we realized we accidentally placed them in the “Emerald Isle” suite which was already reserved by another couple for that evening. The guests hiking had actually booked the “Delacroix” Room. Upon their suggestion and permission we moved their personal belongings to the original room they reserved for the weekend. Then they returned we provided them with a bottle of wine as an apology for any inconvenience, which they enjoyed that evening while sitting in the hot tub as the sun was setting. We regret these guest could not accept the spirit of our heartfelt apologies.

My wife and I went to Sheradin's for a nice weekend of relaxation. What we found was a new favorite destination! Everything was relaxed and friendly. The breakfast was delicious and the room (Nautica Blue) was very private. In between napping and reading, we happened to boat on the lake, swing in the hammock, walk on the trail, and watch the stars at night. We will be back to enjoy the inviting atmosphere again.

Searching for a bed & breakfast near the Poconos we found this place, the description, price and pictures looked fantastic at first, but too good to be true. Upon arrival, it was beyond expectations!! The place was cozy and had a warm atmosphere, Ron and Alla are very friendly hosts and take care of you in a way that is hard to find, so well. There are bikes, boats, a hammock with view on the lake, a hot tub, an excellent breakfast, very clean room with good bed and much more, and YES, everything is included in the price. This is a unique place, and if you don't select it for your relaxing weekend away, you're gonna regret it. We stayed in the Aviators room, and will definitely go back.

What a relaxing and enjoyable get-a-way! Ron and Alla run a lovely bed and breakfast. The surroundings are beautiful and the house is great. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a view of the lake. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Can't wait to go back again!! Cathy

This was mine and my husbands first honeymoon in five years. Ron and Alla were wonderful along with Chester our little guide dog. There's always something to do. You have a trail to walk around the lake along with a cute covered bridge, hammock to relax and watch the birds, a row boat, bikes and a cedar hot tub. Then a wonderful breakfast in the morning. Both Ron and Alla make you feel like family. My husband and I are looking forward to going back in the fall or winter for another mini get away.

This is by far one of the best B&Bs I have ever been to. The host(and hostess) were excellent, knowledgable, and eager to please their guests. The place is immaculate and serene. If you are looking for tranquility and a little peace & quiet, you came to the right place and there is no better. The food is outstanding and the location cannot be beat. There is much to do if you are active within 5-10 minute drives in any direction. This place is very easy to get to from anywhere and me & my wise will be returning guests.

My husband and I went to Sheradin's for our 1 year anniversary.... and the only thing that we're disappointed about is that, because we have a newborn, we couldn't stay longer than one night! We stayed in the Nautica Blue Room and had an amazing time.... such a great view from the private deck! Additionally, Alla & Ron are amazing hosts and really go out of their way to get to know their guests & to provide an informal, relaxed environment. The grounds are gorgeous and extrememly well kept. We will DEFINITELY be going back and plan on taking advantage of ALL that the Countryside Retreat has to offer! STRONG RECOMMENDATION: Be sure to visit the local state store to buy a bottle of wine and then go soak in the hot tub under the stars! ENJOY!!!

My fiancé and I had a memorable vacation stay at this Bed and Breakfast. Ron and Alla are terrific friendly Innkeepers and very hospitable. They are always there if you need any help or guidance. Breakfasts are fit for royalty and extremely well prepared. Relaxing and romantic activities were plentiful. We took dips in the cedar hot tub, trips around the lake in a row boat and we zipped around the country side on mountain bikes. There are plenty of great places to dine that make great food in nearby towns. Truly relaxing vacation and we will definitely be back! Kate ~N~ Rich

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and the experience was supurb. Ron is a super cool guy, very hospitable, and personable. Food was great, the rooms were really clean and the entire house was very well kept. We got up at sunrise to try out the cedar hot tub and must say, it was a perfect way to start the day. Of course, followed up by a great breakfast!

My husband and I went to Sheradin's Country Retreat in October. Although it was a rainy weekend, we had a great time. The home has been beautifully restored with wonderful antiques and treasures that the owners have found and placed in the most attractive places in the house. It took the owners seven years to restore this beautiful home. The breakfasts were delicious and the grounds and very well cared for. Ron is a pilot and can even take people on plane rides of the area. A great gourmet restaurant is nearby and there is plenty of shopping too. If you go, stay in the Nautica room. It is a real treat!

My girlfriend and I spent the weekend at the Sheradin's last month, and I must say, my expectations were exceeded on all counts! The property is beautiful, and Ron and Alla were superb hosts (and great cooks to boot). We enjoyed walking around their lake and using their bikes as well as taking out the rowboat and lounging on their hammock - I can't imagine a lovelier place to watch the leaves change. Not far from delicious restaurants as well as picturesque hiking spots and multiple flea markets for any collectors reading this review. Highly recommended! :] -Timothy

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time at the Sheradin's. Ron and Alla were very nice and welcoming, they had great suggestions for dinner and activities (we visited the local corn maze!) and provided us with very nice accommodation and a great breakfast. The property itself is magnificent, very picturesque with a lake, covered bridge and a little trail all around. Do visit the Sheradin's for a relaxing retreat in the countryside with great hosts!

My husband and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary at the inn. It was the perfect getaway that I wanted and my husband enjoyed it just as much as I did. Ron and Alla were very helpful in suggesting places to eat and activities to do during our stay there. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. Ron took me up on his airplane and I was able to get a birdseye view of the property which is breathtaking. The breakfast that was served was a wonderful variety and Ella is a wonderful cook, "loved the Brakka". I would come back again and suggest it to my friends.

We spent three nights at Sheradin's retreat, and had a great time! The house and property are beautiful, and Ron and Alla are great hosts. There's a lot of things to do in the area: hiking, kayaking, outlet shopping etc. Also, we took a flight lesson with Ron, and it was a great experience! We're looking forward to visiting again.
