    Wonderful Destination

    January 05, 2013

My family and I spent a few nights here for New Years since we have friends who live in the area. We had a 2-bedroom suite and had plenty of room for the minimal time that we were there. Firstly, the breakfast was delicious and the chef/waitress was the most accommodating I've ever seen, which included remembering our names. In addition to the meal, there were muffins, fruit, toast, and cereal available as well. It is not a location if you are looking for a special dinner location. What makes this place so all-encompassing, is you have use of the Lake Naomi Club facilities as well. This includes the indoor pool, gym, and lodge during the winter, or the Lake and outdoor pool during the spring and summer. It is also only a 20 minute drive to 2 different ski areas. For those looking to get away and not have to fly or drive an excessive length, I recommend this location highly.

    Rustic and Refined

    January 03, 2013

Mountaintop Lodge offers all the luxury and rustic comfort of a well-run bed and breakfast, without all the irritatingly frilly Americana kitsch from which so many B&Bs suffer. My partner and I made our reservation with Carolyn, who was exceptionally sweet and accommodating -- though we found all the staff we met to be extremely friendly and helpful. Our loft room had a huge bathroom, tub, and comfortable king-sized bed. Decorations are a mix between sailing and skiing and quite tastefully done. It is obvious that a lot of thought went into the decor and atmosphere. Everything was very clean and tidy. We loved the handmade furniture and hardwood floors. Breakfast was DELICIOUS - I had homemade apple pancakes with cider infused maple syrup and my boyfriend had a freshly made spinach quiche with a delicately flaky crust. The coffee was good, too, and I enjoyed their selection of seasonal teas. The staff was extremely attentive without hovering or being intrusive. It was a lovely experience and we were sorry to have to go so soon! The only drawback was that all the fireplaces were gas; we would have liked the smell of a real fireplace. But honestly, we really only have good things to say about Mountaintop Lodge. Highly recommend.
