Welcome to The Caledonia Guest House in the foothills of South Mountain in Mont Alto, PA. Our B&B provides two suites, each with a private bath and sitting room.
Each morning you will be greeted with a fresh homemade baked treat while you have hot coffee or tea. Your multi-course breakfast will provide you with fresh fruit and a hot, delicous dish made by your innkeepers.
The Forbes Suite offers an attached bathroom with a private sitting room just across from the bedroom foyer. Each private sitting room has a flat screen tv with satelitte service for the evenings that you decide to stay in or you want to catch the morning news and weather.
The Forbes Suite sitting room also offers the extra advantage of a twin bed in the sitting room. Perfect for occasions such as a "Girlfriends Getaway Weekend" when two friends want share the suite but each want their own sleeping space.
The Forbes bathroom is attached to the bedroom and provides a large airy retreat to start and end your day.
The Davis Suite provides an attached sitting room with a private bath just down the hall.
The Davis Suite sitting room is attached to the bedroom and provides a cozy retreat for reading or watching some hdtv.
The Davis Suite private bath is just down the hall and is a updated version of an old fashioned Water Closet.
The Common Area Parlour offers our guests a place to meet other travels. Upon your arrival and in the evening we often provide a "Sit, Sip and Savor" to enjoy here.
As daylight turns to dusk, whether you are hiking the local state parks or visiting the local Penn State campus, we will make sure you have all your needs and comforts met at The Caledonia Guest House.

Our B&B was built in the late 1800's but has the latest comforts and technologies. We're located in Southern Central PA, just shy of the PA/MD border...only 90 minutes from Washington, D.C. We're nestled at the foot of South Mountain just a few miles from several states parks and forests. We have a branch of Penn State in our town, home of their forestry school. There are always interesting events going on in our area, especially if you are a history buff. Love antiquing? We've got loads of that too. As one of our guests recently said "If you're looking for wild city life or a big party, skip Mont Alto. If you want to sit on the front porch swing with a lovely quilt and feel the stress melt away, The Caledonia Guest House is the place."

We were greeted when we got to the Bed and Breakfast. We where showed our bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. Then we talked to the Bates for a while. We went out and when we got back there was cake, candy and hot cocoa waiting for us. When we went to breakfast the next day we started with a fruit cocktail drink. Then we had a crescent roll with white truffles. There was also carmelized bacon. Everything was delicious. We had a wonderful stay and we would definitely come back again.

Thank you so much to The Bates' for a wonderful B&B experience! My husband & i had a very nice stay at The Caledonia Guest House! The innkeepers are a nice couple who want to make their guests feel soecial.

Deposit Amount Required: 50% of reservation fee held on a credit card or with a personal check received in advance.

Cancellations: Making a reservation at a B&B is quite different from making one at a hotel chain. Due to our limited number of rooms, cancellations affect us significantly. When you reserve a room with us, you agree to accept financial responsibility for all dates reserved and room charges. We agree to provide lodging and all related services. Thereafter, we decline any other requests for your room - unlike hotels, we do not overbook. In the unlikely event that you must cancel your reservation, shorten your stay, or check out early, we will make every effort to re-book the room. Should a reservation need to be cancelled: •cancellations must be made 7 days prior to your arrival date for a full refund. •cancellations made less than 7 days prior to your arrival date will result in a forfeit of deposit should room not be re-rented. •cancellations with a credit card made 7 days prior to arrival will not be charged. •cancellations with credit card made less than 7 days prior to arrival will be charged for all nights reserved unless re-rented. •should a room be re-rented at a reduced rate, the deposit refund will reflect the difference. •"no-shows" will be charged for all nights reserved.

We are located just 90 miles from Washington D.C. Based at the foot of the South Mountain range we are 7 miles from Waynesboro, PA and 10 miles from Chambersburg, PA. From north or south we can be reached via Interstate 81, to Rt. 30 east, turn right on Mont Alto Road and continue approx. 5 miles. At the main intersection in Mont Alto turn right going south on Rt. 997. We are three blocks down on the left. From east or west we can be reached via Rt. 70. Take the Boonesboro/Smithsburg exit to Rt. 66. At Cavetown turn right onto Rt. 64. This road becomes Rt. 997 at the PA border, (aka State Hill Rd.). Continue approx. 2 miles and turn right on Clayton Ave. At the light turn left on Main St. in Waynesboro. Proceed approximately 1/3 mile. Turn right on Quincy Rd./Rt. 997. In 7 miles you will pass the Mont Alto Fire Department/Rescue Squad. We are 3 blocks past on the right. Our dedicated guest parking is located directly across the street from our house.
