Nestled between Belleville and State College Pa and built in 1844, McBurney Manor is a house that has retained it’s over 160-year-old charm and ambience. In making a few modern improvements, the integrity of the house has not been compromised. The rooms are uniquely decorated to accent the antique flavor of the house. A room with a queen-size bed has a lovely fireplace, while twin beds occupy the room across the hall. A newly installed modern bathroom is shared by the guests. The grounds contain a fascinating “bake house” which has a recently restored bake oven from which wonderful aromas of a variety of freshly baked breads permeate the property. Bread from McAlevy Bakery is baked each Tuesday and Friday morning. McBurney Manor is found in the small village of McAlevy’s Fort, PA amidst the beautiful rolling hills of Stone Valley. Greenwood Furnace and Whipples Dam State Parks are just minutes away and Raystown Dam is only 30 minutes to the south. State College, home of the Penn State Nittany Lions is 20 minutes to the north of us and Big Valley, a quaint Amish community, is a 15-minute drive to the east. A visit to McBurney Manor and it surroundings will take you back to a slower pace to help you unwind. A full delicious country breakfast is served each morning. Bake House Gatherings and other special events are available for reservations.

    Spacious and Comfortable

    November 26, 2012

Nancy provided a wonderful stay during a business trip to Huntingdon County. I stayed in the twin room which was spacious and comfortable. Electrical upgrades and wifi allowed me to work in the evening and the heat was comfortable in the cooler weather. The bathroom down the hall was renovated nicely and was also very spacious. I especially enjoyed perusing the local artisans gifts and wares in the downstairs rooms and Nancy's tasty and healthy breakfast. I would love to return on a leisure stay to enjoy more of the hearth baked bread that is baked on her property and explore the neat small towns surrounding McBurney Manor.

We had a absolutely wonderful 3 day stay at the Manor in October. What a beautiful and charming place. The Yoders did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. McAlevy's Fort is a charming little community, an experience all it's own. Nancy's breakfast was all you would expect from a top-notch B&B. We will deffinately return on our next trip upstate.
