City House bed and breakfast

This place went above and beyond my expectations. I loved how many different rooms there were to enjoy! Innkeeper was fabulous!

We stayed in the Bryce Room and didn't want to leave. We felt like we were in a display house for Restoration Hardware. Everything on their website is true to description. I researched many other b&b's along our route from Baltimore to Harrisburg and none compared to the sophistication and value of City House. The staff is so friendly (but not imposing), the room was spotless (even under the bed was dust-free) and so spacious, the bathroom is AMAZING, the water temperature and pressure were perfect, the bed was perfect - slightly firm, the linens were made by angels in a small factory in heaven, the room temperature was perfect with a noiseless fan above the bed, modern iPhone charger/alarm clock, the wall mounted TV swivels and was a perfect size for the room, great river view from tall windows (which open to let in fresh air if you want), I could go on and on. The breakfast itself was light fare served in the dining room: homemade banana bread, bagels, english muffins, cereal, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, coffee and orange juice. The house and room are secure - you're given security codes to the house and your room (bonus - no keys to lose) with the freedom to come and go as you like. Though all the rooms are on the same (second) floor of the house, you don't feel claustrophobic or stacked on top of each other. It is an old house and the floors do creak, but we didn't hear anyone and weren't bothered by any noise at night. The grounds surrounding the house were charming - landscaped like an English garden. The whole house is just so inviting and peaceful. We are seriously trying to find an excuse to come to Harrisburg again just so we can stay here! I wish they had more locations, because we would pick City House every time.

The City House B&B is by far the best place to stay in the Harrisburg area if you are looking for an above average, comfortable place. The rates are extremely reasonable for the quality of service and hospitality provided, the rooms are outstanding, and the charm of the old days blended in with the modern amenities and features is amazing. The innkeeper, Bruce, was very friendly and personable and helped make our stay enjoyable.

city house is very updated but still has old charm. Very convenient to historic Harrisburg. We loved being able to walk everywhere after we arrived at City House.

It had been years since I had been to Harrisburg and I was delighted with the beauty of this city when I found myself there on a unexpected trip one evening in late July. I booked the City House B&B downtown because of its proximity to the place I needed to go and was unbelievably surprised at this little gem. First of all, when I made reservations and asked about transportation from the airport, the owner, Erica, volunteered that she was available that day and would come to the airport and pick me up. She is a delight and the B&B reflects her excellent taste and eagerness to make her guests more comfortable than home. The food was delicious, the rooms clean and well appointed and my shower was incredible. The Inn was cozy and the surrounding area of town was just fun! This immaculate B&B is what dreams are made of! City House truly is a vision, located along the Susquehanna River and only minutes from the hottest spots in the city. From the 24/7 coffee service to the homemade cookies when you arrive, Erica pulls out all the stops to make each and every guest feel at home. The breakfast spread consists of only the freshest fruits and baked goods and much, much more! One weekend at City House is not enough!

My husband and I spent two wonderful nights at City House. It is in a great location by the river. We could easily access the path by the river, as well as walk to restaurants nearby. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a fantastic stay!

Stayed at City House last weekend and it exceeded our expectations. Clean, beautiful, great location and every amenity we could have asked for -- plus homemade cookies soon after we arrived. Erica was delightful! We would definitely come back.

Erica was an incredible host. The building and grounds are beautiful...you can tell lots of thought go into making guests comfortable. The innkeeper even prepared breakfast for us 45 minutes before typical breakfast hours to fit our work schedule. I hope we can come back soon!

A beautiful, contemporary, comfortable, impeccable place. The location is spectacular, the food simple and delicious. We were more than pleasantly surprised!

Staff was very friendly and willing to accommodate our needs. Ver y helpful at finding food and activities around the area. Within walking distance of lots of activities.

This location was fabulous, near riverfront, fresh air & great view. Place was quiet & cozy & the "heavenly bed" gave the gift of a good night's rest. Wow!

As a travel maven I'm always eager to share fabulous finds but City House is one of those gems that even the most generous reviewer might be tempted to keep all to herself. Great efforts have been made to restore this period home and yet modern conveniences (lattes, large showers, gated parking) are around every corner. Other personal touches include fresh baked cookies & other treats, cozy yet plentiful public spaces, and luxurious beds. The attention to detail should give one a hint that the owner, herself, spent time on the other side of the pond. And the Innkeeper couldn't be more accommodating yet respectful of one's privacy (guests are given entrance security codes). The Riverfront is at the doorstep.This B&B is green in that you won't see endless plastic sample size products in the bathrooms but everything you need is there. Unfortunately, the steps might pose an issue for a few travelers but I'm sure if you call well enough ahead, someone just might be willing to carry you.

I can't say enough good things about this B&B. The house is immaculate, cozy, and comfortable. Coffee and snacks are always available at a station just outside the guest rooms. Breakfast was healthy and delicious! Situated right on the waterfront, the location couldn't be prettier or more centrally located. My husband and I needed to spend time there past our checkout and the proprietor was so welcoming to us, she encouraged us to stay as long as we liked. We'll definitely be back!

From the moment we walked in the door, we felt welcomed and relaxed. The amenities offered with over the top (beautiful fireplace, sun-room, secured parking, etc..) and our stay in the Bryce room was more than we could have ever expected. The whole house was so clean, neat to walk and take a look around, and our bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was big enough for a family of 10! The housekeeper Jill was also wonderful. She went out of her way to make us comfortable and make sure we could find things to do during our first visit to Harrisburg. The view was incredible, and it was within walking distance of everything you need. Would recommend to all!

Since the moment I arrived, it was relaxing. Traveling 80% of the time I stay in BnB as much as possible. This is one of my top 5 places to stay. Walking distance to a variety of great restaurants. Fantastic hosts, I cannot say enough good things about this place. The interior was amazing and bed was very comfortable. When I return to Harrisburg I will be staying at City House again.

My wife and I stayed over President's Day weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed the terrific Bryce room. The City House is in a great location so to walk to the downtown restaurant row or to the bookstore and movie theatre in the other direction. I won't hesitate to return to the City House on my next trip to Harrisburg or to recommend the City House to my friends.

It is like something right out of a magazine!......it is beautifully furnished with all new amenities. The owners are extremely accommodating! And, the location is superb.....walking distance to everything that Harrisburg has to offer (the Capitol, fine dining, arts & culture, etc.), not to mention the spectacular view of the Susquehanna River! It is all around a picturesque location....inside and out!

Wonderful location from which to explore the beautiful architecture of Harrisburg. Loved the huge shower big enough for two! Enjoyed a bottle of wine by the fire in the living room. Walked to a fantastic restaurant for dinner, Mangia Qui.
