Amanda Gish House Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I stayed in the French Room for a few nights after Christmas. The room was clean, cozy, and warm. Each morning Ann served us a lovely breakfast and was completely sensitive to our dietary needs. We felt pampered and cared for. It was a lovely place to stay, with a lovely hostess.

From the moment we walked in the door, we felt welcomed. We stayed in the Garden Room, which was both immaculate and tastefully decorated. The fresh local foods were deliciously and innovatively prepared, as well as tailored to our dietary tastes and restrictions. Ann and Dave were also very willing to help you with our travel plans and destinations that included many memorable sights and sounds. We will not only return on our next trip to Lancaster County, but also would recommend the Amanda Gish House Bed & Breakfast to anyone interested in a relaxing and an enjoyable stay with warm and inviting hosts.

We stayed in the Rose room, very cozy, and the bed so comfortable we didn't want to get up in the morning. The best part was the champagne bubble tub, so relaxing after a long day of sight-seeing. Thank you for making our stay a memory we won't forget! Diane & Bill, Sparks, NV

Stayed at the Amanda Gish House for (1) evening to attend a graduation the next day. Wished we could have stayed a lot longer. The Inn, the hosts and everything about the place was extremely enjoyable. Extremely clean, comfortable and we where definitely made to feel at home. We visit Elizabethtown College several times a year. We used to stay in a hotel. Never again. The Amanda Gish House will be our first choice. Breakfast was out of this world. I can't say enough about this place. A++++ would highly recommend to evryone.

I stay at the Amanda Gish B&B twice a year for an extended time and they are like family to me and to all their guests. This is one of the very best B&B's I have ever stayed in.

My husband and I recently had a 1 night stay in the garden room. The room exceeded our expectations. Ann and Dave were friendly and helpful, offering suggestions for dinner and sites to see. Breakfast was also outstanding. We would definitely recommend it to others.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with an overnight stay at this charming B&B. Our first visit to E-town was a great find. There is much to experience in the surrounding area and a great place to rest at this wonderful B&B and enjoy a great breakfast. Thanks Ann and Dave and hope to see you again.

We stayed for one evening at the Amanda Gish House and the Innkeepers made us quite welcome and had our room prepared for our visit. The house is furnished with bits of nostalgia which make for a relaxing getaway. Our only regret is we wish we could have stayed longer.

Ann & Dave got everything right. The room was spotless and filled with all the right decor. Everything from the shower to the M&M's on the bed-stand was right. The house is gorgeous and quaint. The location is just close enough but removed enough. And breakfast was soooo good. We'll be back.

We needed a place to stay while in E-town to visit our Daughter - we picked Amanda Gish out on the internet - what a great surprise - the inn-keepers (Ann and Dave) were very pleasant and enjoyable to spend some time with - we stayed in the the 'Garden Room' this was very - very nice !!!! My husband and I have stayed at the Amanda Gish House a number of times and wouldn't consider another place (unless they are booked) when we visit our son at Elizabethtown College. They are meticulous in every respect! The owners are warm,friendly and most accommodating. They lovingly maintain the grounds and rooms. It's like walking into a museum that is clean and every detail of the decor is reminiscent of an older era without sacrificing modern amenities. The presentation of the breakfast is always outstanding not to mention delicious. By far, Ann and Dave have placed a high scale of excellence for other B & B's to compete with.

We were in Elizabeth town visiting family and booked at Amanda Gish from what we saw on their web-site. Lovely house, comfortable room, excellent mattress, Great bathroom (unbelievable tub and shower!) elegant breakfast, warm and gracious host. A lovely surprise. We will return!

We are never disappointed by Amanda Gish B&B. We have stayed there many times, taking our daughter back and forth to school. Dave and Anne provide fabulous hospitality, a sense that we are especially cared for and outstanding accommodations and food. Always excellent!

The Amanda Gish House exemplifies the best of a B&B experience: cozy rooms, cordial gosts, relaxing ambiance, and great home-cooked food! We stayed in the French room, with a queen bed and private bath w/whirlpool and updated fixtures, + robes, and slippers. Go ahead and spoil me! Ann and Dave were very accommodating to our request for a gluten free breakfast - they came up with fantastic recipes for both days, including waffles and muffins that were indistinguishable from the equivalent wheat-flour based items! We also appreciated their directions and recommendations on sightseeing in the area. Ann and Dave take pride in their beautifully renovated 1896 (?) property and want to share this with their guests. The location on a street leading out of Elizabethtown was a lot quieter than other B&Bs in the Lancaster area that I drove past that were on major roads. We also enjoyed their garden and self-propelled swing. E-Town is about equidistant from Harrisburg and Lancaster and 15 mins. from Hershey, which allows for a greater variety of sightseeing opportunities. Other B&Bs are closer to Amish country, but driving time is generally less than 30 minutes to anyplace in Lancaster Co. from the Amanda Gish House.

I have never stayed in a B&B before and now that I have I will never want to stay in a hotel again. Ann & Dave were friendly & gracious and went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious and the atmosphere was so relaxing that I hope to go back again some day just for R&R!

As the parents of six wonderful children, we, as husband and wife, started looking for the "perfect" place to get away for a couple of days. The main issues for us were; location(shopping,dining,attractions, etc.) and a place that was cozy,clean,quiet,and caring. I am very honest with reviews and on a scale of 1-10(10 being perfect) I do not even hesitate to give Ann & Dave a perfect 10! They have put together a beautiful resting place in a Mayberry-ish little town. Not only would we go back for another stay, but are already looking forward to doing so next August for our twenty-forth wedding anniversary. Also, Lancaster, Hershey, and Harrisburg are all short, easy drives from Elizabethtown. Blessings

The house and gardens belong in Better Homes & Garden and food quality belongs on Travel Channel. Ann & Dave and staff made us feel like friends coming to visit.

Exceptional detail in every aspect. We highly recommend it. Ann also serves one of the best breakfast I've eaten anywhere and the pricing in more than generous along with hospitality.

Upon arrival Ann & Dave met us outside with a warm welcome. Ann showed us around the Inn and told us everything we needed to know to make ourselves and the other couple we traveled with right at home . The rooms are very well kept and clean. There was an abundance of coffees and teas as well as tasty tidbits and fresh fruit. The bathrooms were large each with their own differences to give you exactly what you wanted. A small electric heater that was an electric fireplace made the bedroom even more comfy. In the morning the smell of fresh coffee ( which I can truly say was VERY GOOD ) and baked apple with a very tasty filling of seasonings and nuts, aroused my taste buds. Breakfast was to follow with sconce's, toast ,eggs ( prepared perfectly ) , bacon, home fries and orange slices. To but it plainly , I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone planning to stay in the Lancaster, Elizabethtown area.

We needed to come to Hershey for a convention and picked Elizabethtown and the Gish house as a better place to stay. What a great choice. This is one of the nicest B&B's we've ever stayed in. Beautiful decorations and details. Couldn't recommend it more.

We stayed here for four evenings, in the French Room and the Garden Room, to relax and explore the countryside. Ann and Dave are wonderful hosts and made every effort to ensure our comfort. The rooms are fresh and clean and meticulously decorated with period pieces. For sure, stay in the Garden Room to take advantage of the two-person whirlpool tub in a very spacious and romantic setting. But be wary of the breakfasts as the Ann-prepared food is too good and too plentiful and you know what that means! We skipped lunch. Have your breakfast on the porch if you can--it is a delightful setting with music and a lot of wisteria. Ann eagerly volunteers assistance in getting questions answered about area activities. She had discounted tickets available for the Nissley Winery evening concert--a nice touch. Ann and Dave have mastered the ability to make you feel as if you are old friends and yet not be in your way when you want to be alone. And thanks for those beers, Dave. Great people! Marvelous well-maintained house. Beautiful gardens. Exceptionally well-appointed rooms. Delicious and plentiful breakfasts. Attention to detail in care of guests. Wonderfully gracious hosts. What more can we say? We consider this our best B&B experience ever. Stay here.

My hubby surprised me with a trip to the Amanda Gish house for our 12th anniversary. It was amazing. We stayed in the garden room which was beautifully decorated. Ann and Dave were the most courteous hosts, so much so that I felt as if we were guests staying with old friends. Breakfast both days was delicious, I can't find words to describe it but delicious doesn't even come close to doing it justice. The thing I enjoyed the most was getting up in the morning and having a cup of coffee on the porch. The setting is peaceful, and the landscaping and decor transport you back to a simpler time. Ann and Dave have put a lot of work into making the Amanda Gish house a comfortable, homey feeling oasis and you can see how much they love their work in each little detail. If you're looking to get away, or just need a place to stay this B&B is a must.

Sorry to say that we only stayed one night in the Rose Room. The house was simply beautiful. All the rooms, porch, back patio, gardens were all tastefully decorated, warm and inviting. The tiny white & rose colored lights on the mantel lit the way walking to our room at night. The clawfoot champagne bathtub was so exquisite, I could have bathed longer!! Our host was very courteous and helpful. I would definately recommend staying at this Inn! Simply a wonderful experience! (and breakfast was outstanding!)

My wife and I needed a relaxing environment away from the daily "issues" coming up lately. The Amanda Gish House setting with friendly and helpful innkeepers met our needs perfectly. Ann not only was helpful with questions about the area but started our mornings off with delicious breakfasts. Everywhere we looked were little "touches" of taking an extra care to details that were greatly appreciated. I look forward to going back again and recommend this B&B to anyone needing to relax or re-group.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The wonderful owners were hospitable,charming and really went out of their way to accomodate us. They even allowed us to use their video store account so we could watch a movie. The establishment was very clean,quaint and comfortable. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay or to simply get away, you will not be disappointed staying here.
