Wheeler On The Bay Lodge

This is my favorite place to stay. Worth the money. Never disappointed.

What an unexpected charmer this place was! We were making a one night stop while we traveled up the coast and had never been to Wheeler, we really didn't know what to expect but we were so surprised to find such a cozy, relaxing and even romantic property. We peaked into most of the cabins and every one had its own special feel and was decorated with a special touch to make each room cozy and warm. The property faces the river and we spent the evening watching a Heron fish from the dock and a beautiful sunset. We highly recommend this little slice of heaven. Pat & Tracy are very friendly and have done a great job in making this a delightful place to vacation.

OK - the cost was minimal, room was excellent, & there was no road noise - despite the proximity to Hwy 101. View off the pier was calming, tho' the effect may have been enhanced by an opportunistic cat; juggling my Jamesons whilst doing the demanded (quite a talker, this cat) skritch was as stressful as it got. My only gripe would be the lack of a good reading light.

This place is in a wonderfully green and peaceful estuary, just inland from the sandy Oregon beaches. The room was small and equipped just fine, bed was comfy, and the spa tub a REAL treat. Furnishings were in excellent condition. Wheeler is a very tiny town and we enjoyed a barbecue and blues night at a local winery, Nehalem. Spent an hour or so paddling in sea kayaks which was a real bonus for boat-lovers like us. Easy to take short trips up and down the coast to see the variety--rugged rocky shoreline, and long sandy beaches. I was VERY glad not to be in busy Seaside.

Very welcoming and clean. Owners were helpful with my boat and trailer parking-room was a delight. We're coming back.

Pat and Tracy have a wonderful place right on the Bay with a gorgeous view. We spent a wonderful week visiting our son and dtr-in-law. The visit was made better by the fact that everything was taken care of by Pat. The room was spacious with a wonderful spa and our hosts provided information on places to visit and eat. My husband and I recently visited for the fourth time. Each time in a different room (our goal is to stay at least once in each room). Two of our visits were for very special occasions, my 50th birthday in 2010 and our 10th wedding anniversary in 2012, and we have not been disapointed. Pat and Tracy are great, always very friendly and helpful. 8^)

My husband and I had an amazing time our favorite was the private tub :) Am planning on bringing the family for a great getaway!

We stayed in the honeymoon suite because it is the only one with a king bed. It is an adorable room with a huge deck near the water. We also enjoyed the very deep, red jacuzzi tub. The platform bed was a little firm for us, and the bath is very small. However, the lovely setting and uniqueness of the room made up for that!

We stayed in the Glory Suite and it was awesome as always! Everytime I come here there is something new. The new decking with the b-b-q is a very nice touch. We will be back soon and often!

It is a pretty nice setting with a beautiful water just by the property and a very nice couple as a host! I enjoyed myself with comfortable living conditions and beautiful water view!

Second time staying here. Honeymoon suite is our new favorite. Very eloquent yet still a home like feel. We loved the comfortableness of it all and the privacy was an added bonus. We will be back many more times.

My Wife and I were looking at different areas on the coast when we came across this gem. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend. Our room was clean ,quiet and the Service was excellent. We will definetly be back.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Wheeler Lodge. After researching the B&B sites for days I took the plunge and booked a room there. I was nervous that because the price was so reasonable the rooms wouldn't live up to the descriptions and pictures. I was pleasantly surprised! The rooms are exactly as pictured, with renovations & upgrades currently happening (the owners told us this). It was very clean and cozy. We stayed in the Sunset Room as recommended by another reviewer. The view was perfect! The owners are wonderful, friendly, helpful people that make you feel special. They give you the privacy you want but are around when needed. We had the best weekend, staying at the Wheeler, shopping and dining in the nearby towns and enjoying the ocean and bay views. We will definitely stay here again in the near future!

The room was very clean, and the jacuzzi was much appreciated after a few hours of kayaking around the island. We stayed in the Glory Suite, which has a great view of the bay, and we watched sea otters, cranes and various wildlife from our room and the deck. We ate at the Bunk House (good nachos) and the Big Wave Cafe (fresh salmon!). We will definitely be coming back to Wheeler on the Bay Lodge. Outstanding value! You would expect this place to cost more.

We have always wanted to stay here but somehow never got around to it. What a mistake! It is a Lovely, quiet,and owner friendly Bed and Breakfast. The owners can not do enough for each guest to make their stay wonderful. The rooms are thoughtfully furnished and the amenities in each room just make the stay so comfortable. Free movies, popcorn, and other snacks, the rooms have wine glasses and an opener and a supply of both paper and glass plates. We enjoyed the visit of heron, loons and otters. What more could you ask for???

We stayed on the off season, and for $75/night we got a really clean room in excellent repair and really nicely appointed. The jacuzzi tub was awesome, loved the shower and fireplace too. The bed was fantastic. The room didn't look at all careworn, the furniture was in great shape. The owner was enthusiastic and nice, they had a great selection of movies for the evening along with candy and other treats to enjoy. They also provided a decent breakfast for you the night before to take back to your room and heat up the next morning at your convenience, which was nice. The other thing I really appreciated about the room was the sheer amount of electrical plugs. Anymore, you're bringing and e-reader and a phone and an ipod and have nowhere to charge them, but they had a lot of free spots to plug in. I will very likely come back here!

Staff warmly welcomed us and the room was nice and clean. Bed was comfortable. No complaints look forward to staying in the honeymoon suite next time.

We had a great stay! The room was great! Service was wonderf! Can't think of a thing they could have done better. We had a wonderful start to our honeymoon. We stayed two days and then went to seaside. It was the best out of the week!

I have lost count of the amount of times that I've stayed in this cozy, homy, inn! I've been here with girlfriends to celebrate birthdays, as a romantic retreat, twice by myself for some alone time... and each time, the inn fits the purpose of my stay. I love that it is run by a family, and there are many amenities included; countless movie rentals, free popcorn/candy/pop/breakfast items/coffee/tea, games to check out, free kayaking if you stay two nights, and crabbing is a walk away at the marina next door! The dining score is only three because they don't have a restaurant or actual dining on site... BUT, right next door is the Tsunami Restaurant and bar (DELISH!) and across the street is the Rising Star Cafe (YUMMMM!). I could go on and on, but you should just stay here and see for yourself! :)

We really appreciated the owners' caring and attentiveness. We had great choices for movies to watch in our room, a breakfast basket with our choices and more towels than we could have used in a stay three times as long! Local restaurants unpredictable but antique shopping great! I was sick and in bed for most of our stay and was very comfortable. Thanks so much!

We had a wonderful time at the Wheeler By the Bay Motel! The owners are so kind and gracious and they really work hard at making your stay enjoyable. Free breakfast, free movies, candy in the room, and plenty of coffee! We will definately be back and tell everyone we know to stay there! It couldn't have been better...except if we would have caught a fish! Thanks again!

My wife and I chose this establishment to have a weekend away from the kids. Our room was spectacular! Our room's view was overlooking the bay. We woke up seeing otters and waterfowl splashing about while we drank our morning coffee. The weather sucked as it rained all weekend but the antique shops across the street were pleasantly enjoyable to browse through. Even as the fishing was as bad as the weather, I enjoyed soaking in the Jacuzzi, watching the wildlife from our deck, and just relaxing! I highly recommend Wheeler on the bay if you are wanting a quaint little place on the Oregon coast, you can't go wrong with Wheeler on the bay.

What a lovely place! My girlfriend and I stayed just one night but it was wonderful. We especially enjoyed the funkiness of the small town of Wheeler, and the quiet yet beautiful location on Nahelem bay (we could see the water from our bed!). Though this factor does not matter to many people, we are a same sex couple and the place felt friendly and non judgmental too us :) We will be back!!

Very relaxing, clean room with many extra fancy, fun and comfortable features. We especially loved having the fireplace, jacuzzi and fridge, and the bed was very comfortable. Incredible hospitality from the owners, and a friendly, flexible atmosphere. Lots of wildlife was visible from the dock, with a lovely view of the bay and plenty of nearby restaurants, hiking, shops and beaches. We had a wonderful time.

This is a quaint old fashioned motel that is great for a relaxing low key vacation. The only addition would be to have comfortable chairs in the rooms. The owners are exceptional and provide movies, pop, popcorn and breakfast. They are very accomodating go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. The available kayaks are fun as well when the weather is good!

Being able to moor our boat right there is a big plus for us. Pat and Tracy are wonderful and want your stay to be the best.

Pat and Tracy were very helpful, hospitable, knowledgable about restaurants in the area and offer outstanding help with kayaking. They were extremely considerate and accommodating of our needs. They went the extra mile to be sure our stay was exceptional. We recommend this Inn. We were in room 8 overlooking the Bay. It was beautiful!

We came to spend a weekend with friends and go crabbing and fishing. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They were very friendly and helped in any way they could. I didn't know I had to reserve a boat slip and the owner made room for me. We will definitely be staying here again.

We had a great anniversary trip and this lodge was a great location. We had a great morning and enjoyed launching our kayaks just a few feet from our room for a great paddle up to Nehalem for lunch. Pat and Tracy were very nice and made sure we had a nice stay.

This is a great little gettaway from the usual coastal summer explosion. We have been coming here for almost 20 years now. Never disappointed at the beautiful views offered from the motel. Out of the way but close to Seaside, Cannon Beach and all the amenties offered there. We hit the antique stores during the day and return to our very clean, neat room at night. Dining is limited but still some good choices.Family friendly.Pat and Tracy go out of their way to assist you in anyway they can. Talk about hard workers, and it shows, in the new renovations that have been done. Seeing is believing. Give it a try and you won't be disapointed.We love staying at Wheeler On the Bay. Cozy rooms on the water, nice owners, and so many included amenities make this the perfect way to visit Wheeler and Nehalem Bay. We arrived to a warm welcome from the owners, Pat & Tracy, who got us checked in and set up with the next morning's complementary breakfast items and our kayaking gear. I was really impressed that they had us file a float plan with them so that, if we ran into trouble and could not get help via the whistles included on the life vests, they would contact the coasties for help if we missed our return time. They really care about the safety and comfort of their patrons and put a lot of thought into it. There are so many amenities and features included with the room, let me see if I can list some for you: - Free kayaks!!!! (with 2 night stay or more), also crab traps and use of the dock for mooring, fishing, or just lolling around on the benches - Big, deep whirlpool sauna bath - A little table for two, a cabinet stocked with utensils, plates, napkins, etc..., microwave, mini fridge, TV, and DVD player - Charcoal grill outside (well maintained and cleaned) - Lots of nice, heavy towels (no cheap thin ones, yay!) - Really good coffee and lots of it in the room, along with a full size coffee maker - Free soda pop, popcorn, and snacks at the office - Free DVD's and games at the office - Free M&M's in the basket on the room table - Free breakfast, including a nice selection of seasonal fruits - Good, fast wifi (also good 3G reception) - Fireplace with timer and separate electric room heater - A nice little park next door and lots of marionberries and wildflowers (early Sept.) The bed was very comfortable and the bedding high quality. The room was very quiet. We'll be coming back weekend after next, only because next weekend is fully booked (so, make sure to reserve well ahead, they are popular!).

Despite a mix-up due to over-booking on our requested room, we had a pleasant stay at Wheeler on the Bay. The room met our expectations as far as cleanliness and comfort (certainly matched the Internet picture) and exceeded our expectations for QUIET! Very pleasant evening and the owners were most accommodating and did their best to make up for the need to move us to a different room than we reserved (no view). Spectacular views from the deck right in front of the room. Very clean, you'll find everything you need in the room. The perfect hide-away with nicest owners. Stayed 2 days of our honeymoon here, it was so relaxing. The owners certainly provide all of the amenities, from movies to watch along with snacks ect. they go the extra mile.

My wife, 11-year-old daughter and I had a wonderful time staying at the Wheeler On The Bay Lodge. The room was clean and comfortable. The hosts Pat & Tracy were very accommodating. We had a great time kayaking in the bay. We definitely plan on returning for another stay. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the Sunset room and thought it was wonderful. There are three units facing the water. That made the trip for us. The kayaks were docked right outside our sliding door. The lodge tries very hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Beautiful scenery and a great stop to enjoy a small town and a pleasant river.

We had a return visit this time and it again lived up to all our expectations the best being the attention to detail. Private deck, the deepest hot tub, all the little things that made the need to go out unnecessary. The owners are genuine, happy to see your return and help out with any and all questions. Our favorite place to relax, rejuvinate and revitalize our spirit.. Can't wait for the next visit!!!

Because the room is so small, the spa tub seems overkill - but it's probably nice in the winter. We had the end room, with our little deck facing the bay - wonderful! I'm not sure I'd like the other rooms as much. The free movies and popcorn and soda are great, but the tv is also quite small. They also provide free breakfast items -fresh fruit, Tillamook yogurt and packaged pastries - nothing fancy but it sure makes breakfast quick when you want to get out early to kayak. They generously offer free use of their kayaks - great if you need them but we have our own. The dock essentially right out our door made kayaking even more easy and enjoyable. Wheeler is such a tiny town that the tourists hardly stop there, which we consider a benefit. No crowds! Very quiet and relaxing. I'd be happy to stay there again.

The place was charming, the owners were very nice, very helpful. The rooms were clean and decorated so nice. The view is awesome. We will stay with them again. The dining score I feel does not really count. They did supply plenty of breakfast items though. Which was nice. There was plenty of dining around.

Tracy and Pat have put their heart and soul into making this place spectacular. The rooms are great, right down to the spa bath. They are most welcoming, and if you are a birder, you can sit on their boat landing and watch the bald eagles. I have marked the breakfast down, but then, at the end of the day lodges don't do breakfast so the fact that they do is great

My husband and I took one last trip to the coast before our son is due, and we had such a great time! Pat & Tracy took great care of us, made sure we had our breakfast and movie selections, and even showed us some of hte new renovations they've made to the place. They love what they do, and it shines through everything - they even started including regular M&M's instead of just peanut M&M's because their son pointed out that some people have peanut allergies :) Love this place, and will be coming back again as soon as our new son (and our time) allows :)

My family and I stayed here as part of our trip through Northwestern Oregon on the 101. This place was excellent. The kids liked this place better than the chain hotels that had an indoor pool and that is saying something. The rooms were great, the owners are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and the view from the dock....BEAUTIFUL. My husband are I are already planning a get-away trip for just the two of us and this is definitly where we will stay!

This is a great spot to stay and explore up and down the coast. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Room was cozy and loaded with snacks, fireplace, frig, and a lovely view out to the warf and bay. Kyaks are available, too. Fantastic value!

The warm welcome home away from home establishment created by Pat and Tracy was so much more than we expected. Our Honeymoon suite was spacious full of Light and creative delight. From the first moment we arrived until our departure, Pat and Tracy went above and beyond to make our stay very special. My husband and I went fishing, and he caught a schnook salmon. We had a grill on the new deck for our room, and they provided the charcol and lighter to start the grill at no extra cost. They also marinated our filets for us. We were able to watch the sunset from our room. They also provided DVD's and snacks for out stay. Wheeler is a very small town, but it was such a wonderful experience to have such a relaxing experience with all the vry gracious and kind assistane from Pat and Tracy.

Two nights at the Wheeler On The Bay Lodge capped our two-week exploration of western and coastal Oregon. It was appropriate that we ended here, because we saved the best for last. Tracy and Part (the hosts) were phenomenal. The room (Sunset) was cozy and well furnished, with a private deck that opened onto the water with sunset view. We could not have wished for anything better. Don't miss this gem of a stop...

We've stayed at Wheeler on the Bay Lodge multiple times over the last 15 years and this was the best! Pat and Tracy have put a lot of effort into the lodge over the last several years and it is truly worth the modest rate they charge. From the quiet, comfortable, bright, clean room to the reconfigured patio above the dock, it's a great place to relax and hang out for a weekend or longer. . . Their breakfast plan allows you to enjoy your selected meal in your room on your own schedule--no waiting and bumping shoulders with others attempting to get their meals like continental breakfasts at many hotels. Pat and Tracy are friendly hosts and focused on making your stay enjoyable. We'll be back soon for more of their affordable hospitality.

We loved our two-night stay here! Our room had everything we could want, especially an unobstructed, beautiful view of the river and background mountains from our sliding glass doors and huge private water front deck. Not all rooms have this view of course, so be sure to reserve in advance. The town of Wheeler is very unique and has several quant, local spots to eat. I picked this spot because of the kayaking, and we made good use of it. We even took an evening paddle up river (with the incoming tide) to eat pizza in Nehalem. Pat and Tracy were very friendly and helpful, recommending good places to eat and even other places to stay down the OR coast for the rest of our honeymoon. We really enjoyed the hospitality and location of this great family run spot!

This B & B is a great value and very well managed. It is clean and the rooms are very comfortable.

Nice, quiet and clean. We stayed in the Glory Room, and it was fresh, colorful and well appointed. The owners leave countless homey touches, upscale "gratuitous" bath items, and the deep jacuzzi tub was a wonderful way to soak away the beach sand and sea salt. The ongoing remodel noise was courteously held to late mornings and afternoons, so don't let that concern you when you consider reservations.

This was the second weekend that I have stayed at the Wheeler on the Bay Lodge. The owners make the stay so homey. It seems like they think of everything that you might need or even want. I will go there again and again!

Celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary. This place exceeded our expectations. Quiet, clean and tastefully decorated. Attention to detail did not go unnoticed, Pat & Tracy have done a wonderful job of making their guests feel comfortable.

I was looking for basic accommodations for a good price but Wheeler lodge completely exceeded my expectations. The room was very large, and the bed very comfy with really nice linens and loads of little extras to make your stay very pleasant.

We loved the view, the room was cute and clean, fabulous people, lots of additional amenities. We took a kayak out and explored the area - we would definitely return! Thanks

My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon here, and it was such a beautiful stay. The lodge is beautiful, the room was perfect (stayed in the Sunset Suite), the jacuzzi was wonderful... I can't say enough good things about our stay. The town is quiet, small, and beautiful, and the lodge's proprietors are absolutely friendly and welcoming. They bend over backwards for their guests. I highly recommend this place. The wife and I are definitely going back!

The Wheeler on the bay Lodge was an excellent choice for us. The honeymoon suite is a beautiful room with an equally beautiful view. There were no details left untouched and with free breakfast, cable, movie rentals, and Wi-Fi, what more could you ask for.

We loved our stay at Wheeler on the Bay Lodge. The room was charming and very clean. Extra towels and blankets provided in the room - no begging at the front desk. The free movies, popcorn and treats is a fun touch from these inn keepers. I thought their idea for breakfast was creative - selection of 3 items that you took to your room in a little basket - road food for those that like a super early start or lovely for those who like to sleep in and might otherwise miss a prepared breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay. Only wish the drapes/blind had been lined and bline black out. Other than that we had a great time. See you again. The room was clean, loved the fireplace, and enjoyed the breakfast in the room. It was a cozy room and made you feel warm and good.

We stayed in the honeymoon suite and loved it. The view was so peaceful and kept us relaxed. It was exactly what we needed and we will be back. The caretakers are such hard workers and are sincere about wanting your stay to be a memorable one.

I would recommend Wheeler on the Bay to absolutely ANYONE. Not only is the town adorable and the bay-front location beautiful, the customer service is out of this world. You can't go anywhere anymore and get the kind of service you will experience at the Lodge. My husband and I will be back, and we will be telling all our friends!

Pat and Tracy were wonderful. Pat was very friendly at check in. She walked us to our room, and showed us everything. The room was very clean and well decorated. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a romantic place to stay on the Oregon coast.

We were warmly welcomed by the lovely innkeeper and made to feel at home. The view from our suite was superb and the view from the hot tub even better. We were surprised at how quiet it was at night; we did not hear the road noise at all. Great romantic hide-a-way. We will be back to see how the repairs to the deck and landscaping progress and to take advantage of those kayaks in the spring.

We stayed at Wheeler Lodge over New Years. I was expecting an older marginal room for the rate and what I found was a gem hidden away in a town we always drive through. The room was newly renovated and contained everything you could ever want. The owners saw to small details that made the stay surprisingly refreshing. From the jetted tub, to a kitchenette that had everything at your disposal to the impeccable linens we were delighted. I would highly recommend a stay at the lodge. I cant wait to come back in the summer for some fishing on the water.

Very friendly innkeepers. They are extremely helpful and generous; they helped make our stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. Fun quirky beach place, but with great big clean rooms. They have unique style (not the run-of-the-mill beach resort type place), which we appreciate very much! We stayed in the Honeymoon Room overlooking the water. We loved the jacuzzi tub where we had a view of the ocean from sitting in the tub. Great comfortable bed too, and warm fireplace. We felt that we received great accommodations for the price and we will definitely be back!

My wife and I spent two nights at Wheeler on The Bay Lodge. Management was very friendly and ensured we were informed on the area restaurants. We dined locally and my only wish would be more seafood on the menus. We will return to this lodge on another vacation.

This was the perfect getaway. Such a nice little town without all the hustle of the other beach towns we have stayed at. We were actually able to relax like we haven't in years. Fantastic service, like nothing I have ever experienced even in the nicest hotels. Beautiful views all around. This will a place we will go to often.

Our 3 day stay was excellent indeed. The rooms are very clean and well taken care of. The bed was very easy to sleep in, with the clean silky sheet and the added blankets. The spa tub was a great way to start or finish the day. Each day we were given 3 convenience food items for our free breakfast. If you love movies popcorn and candy this is also free with a 2 movies per room and unlimited returns. Kayaking on in the bay is also free and a good way to relax in natural surroundings. Shopping around the area is some what limited, so expect to travel a few extra miles. The local winery was a nice place to stop off for a little taste of your favorite wine or check out their wine tasting! Then choose your beach, go north 3 miles of south 5-6 miles. There is a state park near by with horse back riding we will have to check out next time. Over all it was clean, relaxing, and fun!

More ammenities than we expected. The room was better, the tub was fabulous, and the dock is great to sit on and relax. Cant wait to go back!

We always enjoy our trips to Wheeler Lodge. This time we took a kayak trip from the lodge to Nehalem for lunch. Last kayak trip we got engaged! The kayaks being free for 2 nights of lodging really helps so we don't have to bring our own. We recommend the Necky Gannet kayaks they offer because they are very stable for beginners. The Honeymoon Suite #7 is an awesome room with it's tub for 2 and a private covered porch which we take advantage of. We think the Glory Suite is the best value because it has a separate Tub room that is closed off from the bedroom which for me doubles as an art room when I get up in the night and do pastels while she sleeps. Our favorite is really the Sunset Room where we first stayed 6 years ago and since Pat & Tracy, a delightful couple have been there, all the rooms and service have increased dramatically. We love to stay there and will be back ASAP.

We have stayed here numerous times, our favorite suite is the Glory Suite. This suite has a little kitchen area, and a "sun room" which is a little seperate sitting area and spa tub is located there. Everything is clean, clean, clean!!! It is the perfect location for a romantic getaway, to fishing & crabbing. Pat and Tracy are awesome hosts! Extremely friendly, & they understand that when we are there we like our privacy and they respect that 100%. We can't wait to return, the rates are a little bit less expensive in the off season, & since we live only a couple hours away we take full advantage of it! If you like quaint, cozy and comfortable you will love it here!

I hesitate to give a good review because Wheeler on the Bay will become overcrowded with tourists! The place is outstanding in every way. We didn't try Rising Star and perhaps that is the best restaurant for dinner, otherwise dinner dining was lacking.

I picked Wheeler on the Bay Lodge over the internet for a night stay with my sisters who were coming from the Kansas City area, they have never been to the Pacific Northwest. I drove from Portland to Astoria then down the coast and arrived late to Wheeler on the Bay Lodge...we were pleasantly suprised. Pat and Tracy were very friendly, the room was VERY CLEAN and the beds were more than comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful one night stay and I will spread the word to people coming to the beach about Wheeler on the Bay Lodge.

The Wheeler on the Bay was ADORABLE! The couple that run it is soooo sweet and the rooms are cozy, thoughtfully decorated, and WELL STOCKED. We loved the view from the dock, as well as the tub in our room! Will definitely be back and will definitely send friends there! Thanks

This wonderful lodge just keeps getting better and better. I stayed down here in April 2011 by myself and the ambience of a fireplace and free movies was delightful in taking off the chill, damp air. This trip, I brought my husband and another couple. We were delighted in the service, the quality and value for the money. Its obvious that the new owners are putting in lots of small details and accessories to make it a more pleasant stay. Thank you

The Sunset room was very nice. We would have liked to have known that breakfast was a microwaveable meal. But it turned out to be fine and worked into our schedule.

This was our final stop over on a 6 week trip starting and finishing in Seattle via Utah National Parks and San Diego. A very pleasant surprise ! If we'd known we would have arranged it so that we had at least another night here.

This was a great place to relax and enjoy a quaint scenic area. The service was great with a lot of extra little touches. If we come back to this area, we would definitely stay here again.

Wheeler the the Bay Lodge is truly a gem! The facilities were clean, quaint and comfortable - an extremely homey atmosphere; not hotelish/motelish in the least. The service was very friendly and courteous. The setting was relaxing and peaceful. Breakfast was perfect. Free rental DVD's with complimentary popcorn, soda to go with. Value was very, very good. We were a party of 10 who had just completed the Portland to Coast Relay - 130 miles - and it was so nice to crash at a place that felt more like we were staying at a friends house, then a place of lodging. We were much impressed and will definitely be back!

A laid back stay, hospitality was awesome, at dusk the herons came in for their nightly feeding which made for great pictures. I have already recommended Wheeler on the Bay to our friends and co-workers.

Loved the movie selections, the extra goodies - popcorn, candy, etc and the casual environment. Fully intend to come next year. Only complaint was the use of plywood instead of box springs in the "Taste of Tuscany" room. This is why I gave it a two bubble rating instead of the three or four this nice big room otherwise desired. Hopefully this is temporary situation.

Nice dock to sit on and watch day end. room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Amenities were silly - most minimal gas fireplace, most minimal outside patio, etc. Next time will seach on slow food/slow travel sites and look for more interesting places to stay and dine.

When we drove up to the Wheeler on the Bay Lodge late at night, we were a bit surprised by the rustic appearance of the exterior. It did not look at all like the pictures and initially appeared rustic, and somewhat run down. We were very pleasantly surprised when we were escorted to our room to see a tastefully decorated, absolutely impeccable room! It was spotless. The mirrors and metal surfaces gleamed. The shower and bathroom was fresh, aired out, well appointed & squeaky clean. The memory foam mattress was comfortable in a strange way but perhaps better for those with a smaller size. Paint was fresh and paintings were by local artists and appropriately themed. Linens were high quality,pressed and luxurious. Breakfast was provided by the inkeepers but not in the standard way. At check in we were asked to pick out 3 choices for breakfast which we would then take to our room and prepare ourselves.Our choices included: sausage and egg muffin, bear claw type pastries, cereal or oatmeal, fruit, and yogurt. The room was equipped with a spotless coffee maker, tea, and hot chocolate, as well as M&M's and some Peppermint patties. It also had a sink, dish detergent, dishes, microwave, refrigerator, and all of the things you need to heat up your own instant meal. Our inkeeper was very attentive and at check out he made sure to ask if anything needed repairs, etc.etc. He was genuinely interested in the quality of our stay. In the daylight, we could see the bay and realized that despite our initial concern, that the inn is beautifully situated on an inlet filled with plenty of wildlife and lovely scenery. Our stay was pleasant, quiet, and comfortable, and this was the cleanest inn or hotel room that I have ever been in, and that includes 5 star hotels in Europe. We will definitely go back if we're in the area.

The hostess is definitely there to please. They are always ready to help in one way or another. The views are beautiful and the convenience to the dock for fishing or kayaking is super.

We really enjoyed our stay. It's a small hotel right on the bay water, with adirondack chairs and a nice deck for watching the sunset. The inkeepers were friendly and thorough, and the room was in great shape. Lots of little touches made it feel more like a b&b. Within a block of 2 great restaurants. We liked the semi-private deck right outside our room.

Friendly, family run lodging. Located in small town on beautiful bay. Nice and quiet. If relaxing and/or fishing is your thing, this is the place.

I was very impressed with the hospitality, character of the place and the charm and cleanliness of the room itself. It has been a long time since I have been treated this well. I will return to this place and I will recommend it to my friends as well !!!

We were pleasantly surprised by the gracious and welcoming hosts. This was perfect lodging for my family, including my three and one year old. We will return for another visit.

I was taken back by the beautiful view of the marina and the free kayaking was really a selling point for me. The service provided by the Inn Keepers was impeccable. They were very sweet and family oriented. Both Pat and Tracy seemed like people who would bend over backwards for their clientele, which is truly and experience so rarely afforded. Next time I'm in the area I will most certainly stay there again. However, if I had to pick anything that needs improvement I would suggest a more comfortable bed, as I am light sleeper and can't sleep well on firm mattresses such as this one, and it would have been nice to have a larger, more modern tv. I felt like this tv was too small and far away from the viewing area. Also, the color was slightly off. Maybe I'm just used to the luxury of hd tvs.

What a great place for family and friends to relax and have a great time. The view is fantastic and the hosts are more than welcoming. We will be back!

My mother, sister, and I stayed at Wheeler for one night while driving along the Oregon coast- what a beautiful and quaint location. We sat on their dock in the evening drinking local wine, eating local cheese and fruit, and had a GREAT time. There is lots to do within 15 minutes of the area- several parks, wineries, and towns and beaches.

We were looking for a quiet, romantic place to stay for our Anniversary when I ran across Wheeler On The Bay. I loved that the rooms had fireplaces and spa tubs. I read the reviews and decided to book based on the glowing reviews of service and cleanliness. When we arrived Pat was friendly, checked us in quickly and explained how things work. He then took us to the EXTENSIVE Video Room and loaded us up with movies, popcorn, candy and sodas. We all walked to our room, with Pat helping to carry some of our things. We had elected to stay in the Ebb Tide room and it was delightful! In fact I would say the pictures of the place on the website do not do it justice. The entire place is charming and the view is gorgeous! We stayed Friday-Monday taking advantage of the kayaking, fireplace, spa tub & video room often! Pat and Tracy were so friendly and kind, the view is so amazing (and only 5 min to the beach), the town is adorable with several good restaurants withing a 2-5 minute walk and the room was perfect! We WILL be returning with (and without) our kids! I would 100% recommend Wheeler On The Bay to anyone! Thank you to the Scribners for a WONDERFUL romantic getaway!

The view, the hospitality and the private tub spa cant be beat, especially for the price. We were referred by friends and we wouldnt hesitate to go back.

This is a great little hotel in a quaint little town. We had never been to Wheeler before, and we were very happy with the hotel and especially with the service. The owners are very helpful and were great with our small children. The room was nice - the sunken, jetted tub was great! Having a kitchenette is also very convenient. The bayfront is a lovely place to watch the sunset. While the breakfast items that come with the room are nothing fancy, it is still nice to have food available when traveling with children. And there are restaurants very nearby for those who prefer a larger breakfast. All in all, it was a great visit, and we'll definitely be back!

This was a perfect, simple place for my family (husband and two young kids). The hosts were wonderful and very accommodating. It was peaceful and a great value! Stay in Room 7 if you get a chance-- nice view and has its own porch overlooking the water. We will be back.

Our family of 5 stayed here at the end of July while traveling down the Oregon Coast. The hosts were amazing and offered a lot of little extras like free popcorn an sodas, movie and game rentals, and a selection of coffees, teas, and other snacks in the room. My kids loved picking out their breakfast goodies and said it felt like being at home. Some of the local restaurants also offer a discount on the meal for staying at the Wheeler. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

We loved the views! The owners made us feel so welcome. They give you a sack breakfast, and there were so many little touches in the room. Loved sitting out on there private dock, and food is only a walk across the street. Wheeler is such a cute little town, and the people are so friendly. We can't wait to go back!

Tracy made our 3 day stay so enjoyable from start to finish. She is so friendly and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable. If your looking for a lot of attention she's there, if you prefer privicy she will see to that also. A great place to stay; we will return.

The brown-bag-breakfast was the only negative, but there was an absolutely wonderful breakfast place in Manzanita (not far away) that was worth every penny -- Wanda's. Hopefully Wheeler on the Bay Lodge will be able to offer a discount there soon! Tracy was so helpful & charming! The room we had was wonderful -- best stocked room ever!! And the location was very beautiful & restful.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the homey little suite and the breathtaking view of the bay and wildlife. The breakfast set up(pick 3 items the night before to take to your room for the next morning) is smart for people who would like a healthy breakfast on the go, and the movie/candy scene (free with the room) delighted our kids. We didn't get to go Kayaking, but we certainly will next time. A really nice restaurant next door, very accomodating and friendly owners, and the stay was complete. No palace but good value for the price, and everything we needed at hand. highly recommended.

Me and my husband stayed at WOTB for a week and it was a great place to stay. The rooms are super clean and you get lots of little extras with your room. The owners are very friendly, helpful and nice. We are thinking of going back in the fall and seeing if we can get a some friends to go with us. Wheeler is a small town but nice town and you can travel a few miles and you are on the beach and a larger town. Thank you Pat and Tracy for the great job you are doing.

We went to Wheeler on the Bay for our honeymoon and had an amazing time! The owners are wonderful hosts and you feel truly welcome. There are so many little touches that made the stay extra special. I can't imagine getting nicer accommodations or better treatment at any establishment, and WOTB is very reasonably priced for the luxurious get-away that it provides! We loved dining, hiking, walking on the beach, driving along the coast, spending a day in Seaside...there is also free Kayaking! I highly recommend Wheeler on the Bay, especially for a romantic trip.

The owners are very friendly and the room was spotless. It was a slow weekend so we had the place mostly to ourselves. A very relaxing weekend with the dock and water, free movies for the room and speedy internet service. I'd c ome back for sure.

Nice room and view. Dining in the area was limited. We were hoping for more water sports in the area - kayaking was limited, no sailing or paddle boarding, no boats to rent. Nice place to stay, but a long ways from anything to be worth repeating.

We loved Wheeler on the Bay Lodge! Wheeler is such a cute little town and EVERY single person we encountered there were so nice and friendly! Pat and Tracy made us feel like we were at home and were very attentive. They went out of their way to make sure our anniversary weekend was relaxing, romantic, and fun. The Glory Suite has a GORGEOUS view--you don't even need to get out of bed to enjoy the beautiful views of the Nehalem River and Neahkahnkie Mountain!! It was so nice to take a litte soak in the jacuzzi tub every night while sipping on the sparkling cider Tracy surprised us with in our fridge. So sweet of her! The acitivites the lodge offers for FREE were awesome! Free movies to choose from (even new ones!) and as much soda and snackies you want. We were so excited for the opportunity to use the kayaks anytime we wanted for free with our minimum 2 night stay. Thanks to Pat for the words of encouragement! Getting into a kayak is kind of scary!! :) There are several restaurants and cafes next to and across the street from the lodge to enjoy breakfast (unless you'd like to eat breakfast in your room from the choices on the lodge's list), lunch, and dinner--all with a great view! We WILL be back and are looking forward to it!

Service was outstanding. Huge selection of free movies. Comfortable beds. Free coffee, hot chocolote, apple cider, tea in room. Wheeler is cute town with lots of antique shops. They did a great job converting a motel into a B&B. Breakfast is very simple and you take the food to your room the night before. Would have enjoyed a proper sit down breakfast in a common area.

What a terrific lodge! We've stayed at many places on the Oregon coast, and nothing beats Wheeler on the Bay. Great location (yes, it really is on the bay), quiet and delightful in every way. Hosts Pat and Tracy love what they do and it shows. They go out of their way to please everyone and make you feel at home. They give you a nice continental breakfast each day with six options to choose from. The room had a fireplace, DVD player and its own deck. If you want to watch a movie, DVDs are free, along with popcorn and soda. Best of all, my wife and I got to kayak for free since we stayed two nights. We paddled to the island across the way and had a terrific time thanks to Pat's advice. I'm looking forward to staying here again. I don't think I'd stay anywhere else on the coast. I have thoroughly enjoyed three stays at Wheeler Lodge over the past six years and will do so again on my next visit to the area. The site is outstanding in natural beauty and charm and the new hosts couldn't be more accommodating and friendly; they're doing their best to provide every need one could wish and are upgrading and improving somewhat old-fashioned facilities. The little town and the mid north Coast area are a delight; dining out is rather limited but good solid food is provided at a number of places nearby. My wife and I recommend Wheeler Lodge heartily and we didn't even see any elk or seals this time.

Docking our boat where we stayed was VERY conveniant!!! Also having the boat launch next door was a great plus! A very wonderful quiet place to be, considering it was spring break!! It was great. Thanks

This was our second stay at the Wheeler On The Bay Lodge. We were even more impressed with the room, the service, the views, the wildlife and the innkeepers than we were the first time. Service is outstanding! Pat and Tracy make sure your stay is the best and are constantly available for information or anything you might need in your room. The weekend we happened to be there was also when a large herd of elk decided to visit the island we could see right from our room. We spent all three days of our visit watching them, along with the birds and waterfowl, sea otters and seals. It was a great trip! Thank you Pat and Tracy - we'll be back soon!!

Pat and Tracy are awesome hosts. We have stayed there twice now and had a great experience both times. Wheeler is small, but you are only 20 minutes from Seaside or Tillamook. However, you don't really need to go anywhere with great food and antique shops right across the street. We will definately stay there again!!

Although there was some rain, there was still a lot to do in the area for my 11 year old.

The people, the service, the atmosphere was awesome. You will not find a better place to stay around here. And the prices were the same if not cheaper than all the other nearby places, but with 5 star service. You will not regret your stay!

What a wonderful place to relax and leave your everday stress behind. Pat and Tracy were very helpful and nice. It felt like home, but better. Loved the Spa Tub in our room and loved the view. It is located close to many other points of difference in the area (like the Tillamook cheese factory and the Tillamook Air museum). Plan to tell my friends and go back there again soon.

We hardly left our room! We are in love with this little place! The location is beautiful, right on the bay and so quiet yet easy driving distance to entertaining destinations. The inn keepers are the best!! All they want is for people to enjoy their stay! Always helpful and very kind and friendly. This is a family operation where you really feel like part of the family! The rooms are so cozy and the price for a spa room can not be beaten on the Oregon Coast! They are making updates so if you have stayed before it is worth a return trip!!

Although Wheeler isn't right on the ocean, it's a wonderful beach get-a-way. Close to Nehalem Bay State Park with a great beach, good kayaking and crabbing on the bay, Manzanita and all it's little shops is close by and if you're a birder, check out the sewage ponds. The room was comfortable and has a gas fireplace, the beds were really comfortable, they provide breakfast and free kayaks with a two-night stay, but there's one drawback - no tub in the room we were in. Other than that, I say this is a good place to stay.

My wife and I stayed three nights, for Valentines. I picked the SUNSET room based off previous reviews, and it exceeded my expectation for 'romance'. The lodge is located in a tiny, seclude Oregon Coastal town of less than 400 people. And it is not ideally located if you are looking for "big city" shopping. Good thing for us that we wanted to get away from all that. The owners are about the nicest couple we've ever met at a Bed and Breakfast. She was so kind, thoughtful and helpful throughout our entire stay. The SPA tub in room was lovely so great; it rained every night ~ which provided a WONDERFUL experience, soaking up the HOT while listening to the Rain outside. (and it was COLD out there) We took a tour of many of the other rooms at the Wheeler lodge, and I'm looking forward to our next stay when we bring the kids. OR NOT! John McDaniel II
