There are no words to describe this quaint and delightful BB. You have to experience this little oasis by staying there. Pat and Tracy were all about the comfort and needs of their guest which you can see by how well the rooms were prepared and all the special little goodies they give you. They care about you even before you get their. We stayed in the OTTER room which was decorated uniquely to match its name and had a peaceful and restful 2 days . So much to do and experience was not enough time. My husband and I will definitely be returning quests but to another room to have a new adventure every time we go. Thank You and God Bless Pat and Tracy for making us feel so welcomed and cared about. You must stay and experience this port in the storm. You will not be disappointed. Al and Betty Blumberg

Enjoyed a terrific weekend on the bay watching the locals fish and boat just feet from our spacious deck before enjoying a relaxing soak in a hot tub for two in our room. Highly recommend and will return soon.

Couldn't be a more lovely spot. Gorgeous view of the bay. Very nice clean rooms at a reasonable price. Rising Star Cafe across the street was fantastic!

We so enjoyed our stay. Our host's were extraordinary, going well out of their way to help us out when we were under prepared for our crabbing trip and advising us about the salmon run. The room was quiet, very clean and well appointed. I loved the tub! Prepare for dining early or you'll end up having to travel to a nearby town. Go to Rising Star for sure! The Roost was a great place to grab a hot coffee before crabbing. If all else fails, the burger at Tsunami on the late night bar menu was noteworthy. Wheeler is a really nice place that has worked hard to make it's self more interesting to tourist. Well worth the time and energy to get there. Thank you Pat and Tracy!

A brothers reunion for a few days. The resort appeared to be family run, and was kept up very well. An older facility, but had character and charm. The resort had a boat dock on Wheeler Bay and the clear-sky sunsets were terrific. The bar next door had a great outdoor deck overlooking the bay.

All outstanding, would not be hesitant to recomment to friends wishing to visit the locale. Village is quaint, clean, interesting shops to visit, and plenty of activities for an extended stay. Unfortunately, ours was only an overnighter, but we are discriminating travelers. This is a diamond of a find.

I would have put the room as outstanding, the only little issues is the ceilings are so high that I am sure they are hard to clean and there were spiders nesting in there. I hate spiders. If the spiders were not there, it would have been OUTSTANDING! :) The Dining part is really the breakfast. I love that you get to chose and have it ahead of time. I love the movie room, popcorn and soda. It was a really nice touch. :) I would go back in a heartbeat.

We've loved to visit Wheeler for years, but this was our first stay at the Lodge. With our own patio right on the bay, it was a wonderfully different experience. It was so peaceful sitting just outside our room and watching all the wildlife in the bay. There is a heron who lives right there, and otters who come and taunt him. We barbecued every night on the grill on our deck soaked in the tub - lovely! And, one day we took advantage of the included kayaks and paddled around the bay. It's a fun, funky little lodge and we love it!

We were very pleased with our stay at Wheeler on the Bay. We stayed in the Otter, presented as a no-frills room. It was LOVELY. Super clean, with lots of special touches like stocked silverware and plates, napkins, coffee supplies, extra pillows, candies -- a very long list of wonderful little surprises. The room's deck was pleasant and private-feeling, and the whole place was pin-drop quiet. We plan to return. We felt the owners were responsive but maybe a little more watchful than needed, questioning the signature on my credit card and hovering the whole time we picked out DVDs. Once, I was looking at the beautiful glass art on the outside of each room, I was asked if I was lost. But on the whole, we really enjoyed our stay and have recommended it to all our friends!

We were staying at the Wheeler at the Bay for a wedding. Wheeler at the Bay was a wonderful BB. Pat and Tracy were so kind and most helpful with any of our inquiries. We stayed in the middle of the week and it was quiet. If you are looking for a place to stay this is a great getaway!

So wished we had spent an extra night here. The owners were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Sitting on the deck of room 7 was just perfect for relaxation; and a view that used up probably too much of the memory card in my camera. I couldn't stop finding wonderful shots. The room was exquisite. A really great find.

Cozy? Check! Outstanding personal service? Check!! Unique and thoughtful amenities? Check and check! I've gone back to Wheeler on the Bay countless times over the last six years, and I'm consistently ecstatic each time. There's are so many little things that make a huge difference; like free kayaking, fireplaces in every room, full size coffee pots, super comfy mattresses, beach themed rooms (tasteful, not tacky, lol!), tons of movies/games/books to choose from, unlimited popcorn/soda/candy, breakfast, and discounts on local restaurants, to name a few!! My favorite thing is that it's so close to Nehalem and Manzanita, and your right between Seaside and Tillamook. Oh, and did I mention the fishing and crashing? And very reasonable rates? I must stop, because I could go on and on!! Can't wait until I get to go back!!!!!!!

This is the second time we have stayed here, and we will always stay here when visiting this part of the Oregon coast. The decorating details of the rooms are delightful. The staff is so friendly. We had a bit of a boating accident during the day, and when we came back to our rooms, the staff was so kind - extra towels, bags for all our wet gear, and most of all... compassion for our adventure.

It was a perfect setting to get away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday life. On the way over we stopped at spirit mountain and had a excellent lunch, Then went and enjoyed viewing Munson Creek Falls and eventually arrived at Wheeler On The Bay. Pat and Tracy greeted us with their friendly smiles and gave us a tour of our room and the surrounding accommodations. The room was cozy and very comfortable. The bonus was we were lucky and had sunshine in February. Thank You for a special time on my birthday.

The location is beautiful! The service was outstanding! And although our weather was pretty bad, the rooms were so cozy, my husband and I took full advantage of the outstanding complimentary DVD selection. The owners are incredibly accommodating, and made sure our stay was as wonderful as possible. We took a drive south to the Tillamook Cheese Factory, Tillamook Air Museum & Munson Creek Falls. We also found a really fun beach, 5 miles North of Wheeler at Manzanita, where Nehalem Bay meets the ocean. While there, we found several agates and a couple pieces of geodes with sparkly crystals still intact. So cool! Each adventure we took off on, we were always excited to get back to our warm room to light the fireplace and unwind. We had a terrific time, and will be back in the summer months.

Stayed 10 years ago (in Honeymoon Suite) for anniversary, and had many nice memories. So repeated for 2014 Valentine's Day. New owners, who really take great care of guests--check in, orientation, breakfast selection, movie rental, dining recommendations and discounts, area information and even canoe/kayak rentals. Did not think it possible, but latest stay was even better than the first!! Highly recommend the experience.

We love Wheeler, not only due to its picturesque landscape, but also because we love browsing through the antique shops and driving through the surrounding area. I chose Wheeler On The Bay Lodge as we had never stayed there before. Pat and Tracy were very nice. The room was small, but well accommodated. There was everything you could ever need, plus more. And the view is unsurpassable. Wish we had stayed in the Spring or Summer! Well, that may be to come... Very nice. .

This is a cute little motel converted to a freindly stay by the owners. Pat greeted us upon arrival. You are able to pick some items ( yogurt fruit and cold cereal) to put in your room for the morning. Free movies available. The Bay itself is beautiful and peaceful. Dinner in Manzanita was lovely.

We stayed two nights in the Otter Room and just loved it. The beds were comfy, The room and bathroom was nice and clean. The kitchenette was small, but had everything we needed plus some. And it had a dining room table. Free movies, popcorn and soda was a clincher. The owners were very nice and willing to serve us to accommodate our needs. Plus, they had a place for us to moor our boat at their dock. Three weeks later we returned to Wheeler On the Bay and got an equally nice room and accommodations. And They remembered our last stay so it was like coming home.

We had one of the rooms on the end of the building with a view of the bay. Loved watching the sunsets through the patio doors, from our bed. Don't know what the other rooms were like. The owners were very well organized and we were given a thorough orientation when we arrived. Huge selection of DVD's for viewing and free popcorn.

What a great little lodge feel to this motel. The room was much nicer than I expected. Clean and recently renovated. Had all the amenities I needed. The fireplace was a great bonus. Most everything was unexpected. Even a little breakfast basket given to us the night before for the next morning was a nice surprise. Great people and great service. Right on the water with great views. I will be staying here again!

Wow, Definitely stay here if your destination is Oregon's North Coast. Quaint and Romantic, yet close to everything you need. Great shopping nearby. If you prefer giant hotel chains, you will not care for this place. Small, unique, owner-operated inn. Each room is decorated and named differently, and they are all charming, cozy, and immaculate. The owners are super-nice and make you feel welcome, which is not always typical for a solo female traveler. I weathered a storm here in one of the waterfront rooms with a hot tub, and it was the perfect weekend! I will be back.

This is our second stay in two months since we have discovered the Wheeler Bay in August. We were just as impressed this time as the first. The owners are very friendly and made us feel special. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite on both of our stays. The private deck and tub for two are just a few of the items that make this place so special. Upon arrival and check in you are given your choice of several continental breakfast items that you take to your room for the next morning so there is no line or crowded breakfast room. There are also free movies from a very large library, free snacks, free popcorn, and free sodas. The room was very well decorated and cozy! I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is!Did I forget to mention the free use of kayaks during your stay? I cannot wait for the next time we get to stay at the Wheeler on the Bay Lodge!!

This was our first stay at Wheeler by the bay and found it to be awesome. The owners and staff are very informative and carring. They took us to our room, that was clean and charming and showed us all the amenities making sure we were comfortable. We went fishing, crabbing and kayaking, beach walking and antiquing why we were there. It's a gret area for Kayaking and is free with the room. There is a common area with very comfortable seating and We sat and watch the elk and other wildlife across the bay as the sun set. It was awesome. I would highly recommend this place. We will be back and bring our friends

We booked this motel on line, not knowing what to expect. We got a great room, free videos, a good wi-fi, a lovely room in a good location, all looked after by a wonderful, friendly couple. The best place we've stayed between Port Angeles and Bandon on our bike trip.

Very nice and relaxing stay with my husband. Much needed R&R. Owners are extremely friendly and attentive. We stayed in the honeymoon suite with a private deck overlooking the bay. It was wonderful. The absolute ONLY downfall is the huge skylight. It makes it very very hard to sleep in on our mini vacation! Next time we will bring sleep masks!

We just stayed at Wheeler on the Bay for three nights and loved it. My husband, myself, my daughter and my niece were in the Suite Sea which had two cozy bedrooms and a separate sitting area with kitchenette, and my brother and his son stayed in the Blue Heron Room with a deck and a view. We brought our 15 ft. daysailer and two sea kayaks, also used the sea kayaks provided by the lodge, and spent most of our time on the water or on the lovely dock enjoying the view. Ate dinner watching the sun set from the deck at the Tsunami Bar and Grill, on the other side of the town park from Wheeler on the Bay Lodge, and got 10$ off the bill with our lodge receipt. Also dined one night in Manzanita, 15 minutes up the road. Very close to Oswald West State Park, one of the best beaches for seeing starfish on the rocks at low tide. Overall, a very clean and friendly place owned and run by nice folks, Pat and Tracy.
4.4 on August 21, 2013
We stayed in the "Sunset" room and enjoyed the spectacular view over the Nehalem River. This was our second visit to Wheeler On The Bay Lodge; the other time we stayed in one of the non-view rooms and the amenities in Sunset were worth more than the slight increase in cost. We'll be back again.

We stayed in the Ebb Tide room and it was great. The hot tub was so nice to relax in! The bed was cozy and clean. I love all of the breakfast stuff we got to pick out and take to our room for the morning. I also loved the peanut M&M's and the York peppermint patties that were left for us to snack on. Tracy was so helpful. A real value for the price! You won't be disappointed!

We love this place! It is a great value and great location. Pat and Tracy are the best hosts too! We go here every year and I don't see that changing anytime soon. We highly recommend Wheeler on the Bay Lodge. Here are some reasons to go there - Good value - All things considered from the included breakfast items to the free kayaking (2 nights minimum), it's a great value. Salmon fishing & crabbing Rooms have everything you need, refer, microwave, TV, outdoor hibachis. Great hosts! Pat and Tracy are very friendly and make you feel right at home. Manzanita Beach is really close by and is usually sunny even when the rest of the north coast is not. Tsunami Cafe is about 100 yards away! LOL Just book it! You won't be sorry. -Happy travelers

Wheeler on the Bay is a wonderful destination if you are looking for a small town environment. What makes this place so desirable is the way owners Pat and Tracey work so hard to ensure your stay is all it can possibly be. They go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to those little personal touches. If you are looking to just relax or take to the river in a kayak, Wheeler on the Bay is your ticket

Dining per se' is not applicable to this motel; but we love their continental breakfast concept. Lots of restaurants close by, just don't go to the Tsunami Grill. Great rooms, we've stayed twice now. Love the rooms we've had, clean & decorated with comfort in mind. Hubby loves the huge tub, towels are really large & fluffy, staff is wonderful, Can't beat the whole deal!! Thank you Pat & Tracy

This Inn is very cozy and clean. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. The area is beautiful and we visit often. Stay here most times we are needing a room for a night or two. I rated the dining in the middle because there is no restaurant here.

We had a awesome vacation at the Wheeler Lodge & Marina. The beds were amazing; clean soft sheets and many pillows on comfortable mattresses. A breakfast basket with a good variety to choose from and complimentary popcorn and soft drinks in the evening. The Nehalem River is so beautiful; I just had to take advantage of the free Kayak every morning. Considering the many fishermen trying to catch young Pacific Salmon the river was very peaceful. I would recommend this place to people who love nature and just want to get away from the noise! Our Best, Howard & Norm San Diego, California

Peaceful, quiet, beautiful place with kayaking from the door. Hard to find calm waters in Oregon, which is one of the things that drew us here. Pat and Tracy were so accomodating about our dietary needs. Kids loved the free movie rental (great selection) and their outdoor cat. We really liked the town as well; better than the larger nearby places. Great hiking nearby with recommendations from Tracy. We stayed 4 nights but could stay much longer. Stayed in the Tuscony Room (2 adults, 2 kids) - very clean and tastefully decorated. Hope to come back.

The room was ok with a comfy mattress, but kind of close to the road. The hosts were accommodating, and we really enjoyed the free kayaking with a 2-night stay. The breakfasts were serviceable, but not great. Be aware that several clear-cutting scars are evident on the surrounding hills.

Location was super. Right on the bay which offered a relief from the heavy winds at the ocean. The hosts couldn't have been any more accommodating. They were great and really seem to enjoy running this property, which is also their home. Good value, very clean. Definitely recommend. There was no 'dining' or restaurant at this hotel. They provide a few items for breakfast, which we didn't expect, so that was a plus.

Stayed recently in one of the suites. Owners were friendly and helpful, room was clean, tastefully decorated, and thoughtfully appointed. A bit small, especially the bathroom. Particularly enjoyed the private deck and the resident cat. Breakfast options were of the Costco pastry variety, and the fruit offerings were just apples and bananas during the summer, if you care about that sort of thing. Excellent restaurant, Rising Star Cafe, within easy walking distance, and two lovely shops across the street, Cultivation and Trillium, offer fabulous local artisan jewelry, ceramics, and textiles. Would likely stay here again.

Wheeler on the Bay was more than we hoped for when looking for a peaceful getaway in July. The rooms are clean and well decorated, and the location on the Nehalem River was outstanding. Pat and Tracy, the owners, were gracious and friendly, and truly want you to have an excellent experience. We loved it so much we stayed two extra nights, for a total of four. Kayaking the river with their kayaks was icing on the cake - bald eagles, blue heron, otters and an entire herd of Roosevelt Elk! We will definitely return again and again.

It being only our 2nd time here, alot had changed in 3 years and it was even better than the first amazing time. Tracy knew just where to send us for a special dinner and we barely left the room because we were so comfortable and exhausted. Movies galore even new releases!!! It was amazing and we will continue to visit!

This is not a typical b and b, esp when our 3-bedroom space housed 7 of us. A mish-mash of towels and campy kitchen worked well for our family. There is no home-cooked breakfast but if you like to eat your cereal while watching eagle fly over a bay this is your place

What an unexpected charmer this place was! We were making a one night stop while we traveled up the coast and had never been to Wheeler, we really didn't know what to expect but we were so surprised to find such a cozy, relaxing and even romantic property. We peaked into most of the cabins and every one had its own special feel and was decorated with a special touch to make each room cozy and warm. The property faces the river and we spent the evening watching a Heron fish from the dock and a beautiful sunset. We highly recommend this little slice of heaven. Pat & Tracy are very friendly and have done a great job in making this a delightful place to vacation.
4.4 on June 10, 2013
OK - the cost was minimal, room was excellent, & there was no road noise - despite the proximity to Hwy 101. View off the pier was calming, tho' the effect may have been enhanced by an opportunistic cat; juggling my Jamesons whilst doing the demanded (quite a talker, this cat) skritch was as stressful as it got. My only gripe would be the lack of a good reading light.

This place is in a wonderfully green and peaceful estuary, just inland from the sandy Oregon beaches. The room was small and equipped just fine, bed was comfy, and the spa tub a REAL treat. Furnishings were in excellent condition. Wheeler is a very tiny town and we enjoyed a barbecue and blues night at a local winery, Nehalem. Spent an hour or so paddling in sea kayaks which was a real bonus for boat-lovers like us. Easy to take short trips up and down the coast to see the variety--rugged rocky shoreline, and long sandy beaches. I was VERY glad not to be in busy Seaside.

Pat and Tracy have a wonderful place right on the Bay with a gorgeous view. We spent a wonderful week visiting our son and dtr-in-law. The visit was made better by the fact that everything was taken care of by Pat. The room was spacious with a wonderful spa and our hosts provided information on places to visit and eat. If I am ever on the coast this is the first place I will stay. Glenora

My husband and I recently visited for the fourth time. Each time in a different room (our goal is to stay at least once in each room). Two of our visits were for very special occasions, my 50th birthday in 2010 and our 10th wedding anniversary in 2012, and we have not been disapointed. Pat and Tracy are great, always very friendly and helpful. 8^)

My husband and I had an amazing time our favorite was the private tub :) Am planning on bringing the family for a great getaway!

We stayed in the honeymoon suite because it is the only one with a king bed. It is an adorable room with a huge deck near the water. We also enjoyed the very deep, red jacuzzi tub. The platform bed was a little firm for us, and the bath is very small. However, the lovely setting and uniqueness of the room made up for that!

We stayed in the Glory Suite and it was awesome as always! Everytime I come here there is something new. The new decking with the b-b-q is a very nice touch. We will be back soon and often!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Wheeler Lodge. After researching the B&B sites for days I took the plunge and booked a room there. I was nervous that because the price was so reasonable the rooms wouldn't live up to the descriptions and pictures. I was pleasantly surprised! The rooms are exactly as pictured, with renovations & upgrades currently happening (the owners told us this). It was very clean and cozy. We stayed in the Sunset Room as recommended by another reviewer. The view was perfect! The owners are wonderful, friendly, helpful people that make you feel special. They give you the privacy you want but are around when needed. We had the best weekend, staying at the Wheeler, shopping and dining in the nearby towns and enjoying the ocean and bay views. We will definitely stay here again in the near future!

The room was very clean, and the jacuzzi was much appreciated after a few hours of kayaking around the island. We stayed in the Glory Suite, which has a great view of the bay, and we watched sea otters, cranes and various wildlife from our room and the deck. We ate at the Bunk House (good nachos) and the Big Wave Cafe (fresh salmon!). We will definitely be coming back to Wheeler on the Bay Lodge. Outstanding value! You would expect this place to cost more.

We have always wanted to stay here but somehow never got around to it. What a mistake! It is a Lovely, quiet, and owner friendly Bed and Breakfast. The owners can not do enough for each guest to make their stay wonderful. The rooms are thoughtfully furnished and the amenities in each room just make the stay so comfortable. Free movies, popcorn, and other snacks, the rooms have wine glasses and an opener and a supply of both paper and glass plates. We enjoyed the visit of heron, loons and otters. What more could you ask for???

We stayed on the off season, and for $75/night we got a really clean room in excellent repair and really nicely appointed. The jacuzzi tub was awesome, loved the shower and fireplace too. The bed was fantastic. The room didn't look at all careworn, the furniture was in great shape. The owner was enthusiastic and nice, they had a great selection of movies for the evening along with candy and other treats to enjoy. They also provided a decent breakfast for you the night before to take back to your room and heat up the next morning at your convenience, which was nice. The other thing I really appreciated about the room was the sheer amount of electrical plugs. Anymore, you're bringing and e-reader and a phone and an ipod and have nowhere to charge them, but they had a lot of free spots to plug in. I will very likely come back here!

I have lost count of the amount of times that I've stayed in this cozy, homy, inn! I've been here with girlfriends to celebrate birthdays, as a romantic retreat, twice by myself for some alone time... and each time, the inn fits the purpose of my stay. I love that it is run by a family, and there are many amenities included; countless movie rentals, free popcorn/candy/pop/breakfast items/coffee/tea, games to check out, free kayaking if you stay two nights, and crabbing is a walk away at the marina next door! The dining score is only three because they don't have a restaurant or actual dining on site... BUT, right next door is the Tsunami Restaurant and bar (DELISH!) and across the street is the Rising Star Cafe (YUMMMM!). I could go on and on, but you should just stay here and see for yourself! :)

We really appreciated the owners' caring and attentiveness. We had great choices for movies to watch in our room, a breakfast basket with our choices and more towels than we could have used in a stay three times as long! Local restaurants unpredictable but antique shopping great! I was sick and in bed for most of our stay and was very comfortable. Thanks so much!

We had a wonderful time at the Wheeler By the Bay Motel! The owners are so kind and gracious and they really work hard at making your stay enjoyable. Free breakfast, free movies, candy in the room, and plenty of coffee! We will definately be back and tell everyone we know to stay there! It couldn't have been better...except if we would have caught a fish! Thanks again!

My wife and I chose this establishment to have a weekend away from the kids. Our room was spectacular! Our room's view was overlooking the bay. We woke up seeing otters and waterfowl splashing about while we drank our morning coffee. The weather sucked as it rained all weekend but the antique shops across the street were pleasantly enjoyable to browse through. Even as the fishing was as bad as the weather, I enjoyed soaking in the Jacuzzi, watching the wildlife from our deck, and just relaxing! I highly recommend Wheeler on the bay if you are wanting a quaint little place on the Oregon coast, you can't go wrong with Wheeler on the bay.

What a lovely place! My girlfriend and I stayed just one night but it was wonderful. We especially enjoyed the funkiness of the small town of Wheeler, and the quiet yet beautiful location on Nahelem bay (we could see the water from our bed!). Though this factor does not matter to many people, we are a same sex couple and the place felt friendly and non judgmental too us :) We will be back!!

Very relaxing, clean room with many extra fancy, fun and comfortable features. We especially loved having the fireplace, jacuzzi and fridge, and the bed was very comfortable. Incredible hospitality from the owners, and a friendly, flexible atmosphere. Lots of wildlife was visible from the dock, with a lovely view of the bay and plenty of nearby restaurants, hiking, shops and beaches. We had a wonderful time.

This is a quaint old fashioned motel that is great for a relaxing low key vacation. The only addition would be to have comfortable chairs in the rooms. The owners are exceptional and provide movies, pop, popcorn and breakfast. They are very accomodating go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. The available kayaks are fun as well when the weather is good!

Wheeler on the Bay was the perfect place for our Mother-Daughter stay. The coastal room had 2 bedrooms, a sitting area, table and chairs and kitchenette. We could not have had nicer or more attentive hosts! Our rooms were immaculate, freshly painted with special decor, lots of special touches --- coffees, creamers, teas, even candy, popcorn and sodas!! The view from the comfortable dock area was to die for! We stayed two nights and would gladly stay again!!! This place is a WINNER!

This is a great little gettaway from the usual coastal summer explosion. We have been coming here for almost 20 years now. Never disappointed at the beautiful views offered from the motel. Out of the way but close to Seaside, Cannon Beach and all the amenties offered there. We hit the antique stores during the day and return to our very clean, neat room at night. Dining is limited but still some good choices.Family friendly.Pat and Tracy go out of their way to assist you in anyway they can. Talk about hard workers, and it shows, in the new renovations that have been done. Seeing is believing. Give it a try and you won't be disapointed. We love staying at Wheeler On the Bay. Cozy rooms on the water, nice owners, and so many included amenities make this the perfect way to visit Wheeler and Nehalem Bay. We arrived to a warm welcome from the owners, Pat & Tracy, who got us checked in and set up with the next morning's complementary breakfast items and our kayaking gear. I was really impressed that they had us file a float plan with them so that, if we ran into trouble and could not get help via the whistles included on the life vests, they would contact the coasties for help if we missed our return time. They really care about the safety and comfort of their patrons and put a lot of thought into it. There are so many amenities and features included with the room, let me see if I can list some for you: - Free kayaks!!!! (with 2 night stay or more), also crab traps and use of the dock for mooring, fishing, or just lolling around on the benches - Big, deep whirlpool sauna bath - A little table for two, a cabinet stocked with utensils, plates, napkins, etc..., microwave, mini fridge, TV, and DVD player - Charcoal grill outside (well maintained and cleaned) - Lots of nice, heavy towels (no cheap thin ones, yay!) - Really good coffee and lots of it in the room, along with a full size coffee maker - Free soda pop, popcorn, and snacks at the office - Free DVD's and games at the office - Free M&M's in the basket on the room table - Free breakfast, including a nice selection of seasonal fruits - Good, fast wifi (also good 3G reception) - Fireplace with timer and separate electric room heater - A nice little park next door and lots of marionberries and wildflowers (early Sept.) The bed was very comfortable and the bedding high quality. The room was very quiet. We'll be coming back weekend after next, only because next weekend is fully booked (so, make sure to reserve well ahead, they are popular!).

Despite a mix-up due to over-booking on our requested room, we had a pleasant stay at Wheeler on the Bay. The room met our expectations as far as cleanliness and comfort (certainly matched the Internet picture) and exceeded our expectations for QUIET! Very pleasant evening and the owners were most accommodating and did their best to make up for the need to move us to a different room than we reserved (no view). Wish we could have stay another day or two, but not possible. B & C from Molalla

We stayed in the Sunset room and thought it was wonderful. There are three units facing the water. That made the trip for us. The kayaks were docked right outside our sliding door. The lodge tries very hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Beautiful scenery and a great stop to enjoy a small town and a pleasant river.

We had a return visit this time and it again lived up to all our expectations the best being the attention to detail. Private deck, the deepest hot tub, all the little things that made the need to go out unnecessary. The owners are genuine, happy to see your return and help out with any and all questions. Our favorite place to relax, rejuvinate and revitalize our spirit.. Can't wait for the next visit!!!

Because the room is so small, the spa tub seems overkill - but it's probably nice in the winter. We had the end room, with our little deck facing the bay - wonderful! I'm not sure I'd like the other rooms as much. The free movies and popcorn and soda are great, but the tv is also quite small. They also provide free breakfast items -fresh fruit, Tillamook yogurt and packaged pastries - nothing fancy but it sure makes breakfast quick when you want to get out early to kayak. They generously offer free use of their kayaks - great if you need them but we have our own. The dock essentially right out our door made kayaking even more easy and enjoyable. Wheeler is such a tiny town that the tourists hardly stop there, which we consider a benefit. No crowds! Very quiet and relaxing. I'd be happy to stay there again.
5 on July 28, 2012
The place was charming, the owners were very nice, very helpful. The rooms were clean and decorated so nice. The view is awesome. We will stay with them again. The dining score I feel does not really count. They did supply plenty of breakfast items though. Which was nice. There was plenty of dining around.
4.6 on July 26, 2012
Tracy and Pat have put their heart and soul into making this place spectacular. The rooms are great, right down to the spa bath. They are most welcoming, and if you are a birder, you can sit on their boat landing and watch the bald eagles. I have marked the breakfast down, but then, at the end of the day lodges don't do breakfast so the fact that they do is great

My husband and I took one last trip to the coast before our son is due, and we had such a great time! Pat & Tracy took great care of us, made sure we had our breakfast and movie selections, and even showed us some of hte new renovations they've made to the place. They love what they do, and it shines through everything - they even started including regular M&M's instead of just peanut M&M's because their son pointed out that some people have peanut allergies :) Love this place, and will be coming back again as soon as our new son (and our time) allows :)

My family and I stayed here as part of our trip through Northwestern Oregon on the 101. This place was excellent. The kids liked this place better than the chain hotels that had an indoor pool and that is saying something. The rooms were great, the owners are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and the view from the dock....BEAUTIFUL. My husband are I are already planning a get-away trip for just the two of us and this is definitly where we will stay!

The warm welcome home away from home establishment created by Pat and Tracy was so much more than we expected. Our Honeymoon suite was spacious full of Light and creative delight. At Wheeler Bay is a must stop over on your Oregon Coast adventure because it provides an amazing unforgettable view and allows you to be nestled in a part of the world that is soothing, relaxing, and full of comfort. Great hospitality, nights sleep, and stay. Thank you thank you. RVB

From the first moment we arrived until our departure, Pat and Tracy went above and beyond to make our stay very special. My husband and I went fishing, and he caught a schnook salmon. We had a grill on the new deck for our room, and they provided the charcol and lighter to start the grill at no extra cost. They also marinated our filets for us. We were able to watch the sunset from our room. They also provided DVD's and snacks for out stay. Wheeler is a very small town, but it was such a wonderful experience to have such a relaxing experience with all the vry gracious and kind assistane from Pat and Tracy.

Two nights at the Wheeler On The Bay Lodge capped our two-week exploration of western and coastal Oregon. It was appropriate that we ended here, because we saved the best for last. Tracy and Part (the hosts) were phenomenal. The room (Sunset) was cozy and well furnished, with a private deck that opened onto the water with sunset view. We could not have wished for anything better. Don't miss this gem of a stop...

We've stayed at Wheeler on the Bay Lodge multiple times over the last 15 years and this was the best! Pat and Tracy have put a lot of effort into the lodge over the last several years and it is truly worth the modest rate they charge. From the quiet, comfortable, bright, clean room to the reconfigured patio above the dock, it's a great place to relax and hang out for a weekend or longer. . . Their breakfast plan allows you to enjoy your selected meal in your room on your own schedule--no waiting and bumping shoulders with others attempting to get their meals like continental breakfasts at many hotels. Pat and Tracy are friendly hosts and focused on making your stay enjoyable. We'll be back soon for more of their affordable hospitality.

We loved our two-night stay here! Our room had everything we could want, especially an unobstructed, beautiful view of the river and background mountains from our sliding glass doors and huge private water front deck. Not all rooms have this view of course, so be sure to reserve in advance. The town of Wheeler is very unique and has several quant, local spots to eat. I picked this spot because of the kayaking, and we made good use of it. We even took an evening paddle up river (with the incoming tide) to eat pizza in Nehalem. Pat and Tracy were very friendly and helpful, recommending good places to eat and even other places to stay down the OR coast for the rest of our honeymoon. We really enjoyed the hospitality and location of this great family run spot!

Nice, quiet and clean. We stayed in the Glory Room, and it was fresh, colorful and well appointed. The owners leave countless homey touches, upscale "gratuitous" bath items, and the deep jacuzzi tub was a wonderful way to soak away the beach sand and sea salt. The ongoing remodel noise was courteously held to late mornings and afternoons, so don't let that concern you when you consider reservations.

We loved our stay at Wheeler on the Bay Lodge. The room was charming and very clean. Extra towels and blankets provided in the room - no begging at the front desk. The free movies, popcorn and treats is a fun touch from these inn keepers. I thought their idea for breakfast was creative - selection of 3 items that you took to your room in a little basket - road food for those that like a super early start or lovely for those who like to sleep in and might otherwise miss a prepared breakfast.

We will be back to see how the repairs to the deck and landscaping progress and to take advantage of those kayaks in the spring.

We stayed at Wheeler Lodge over New Years. I was expecting an older marginal room for the rate and what I found was a gem hidden away in a town we always drive through. The room was newly renovated and contained everything you could ever want. The owners saw to small details that made the stay surprisingly refreshing. From the jetted tub, to a kitchenette that had everything at your disposal to the impeccable linens we were delighted. I would highly recommend a stay at the lodge. I cant wait to come back in the summer for some fishing on the water.

Very friendly innkeepers. They are extremely helpful and generous; they helped make our stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. Fun quirky beach place, but with great big clean rooms. They have unique style (not the run-of-the-mill beach resort type place), which we appreciate very much! We stayed in the Honeymoon Room overlooking the water. We loved the jacuzzi tub where we had a view of the ocean from sitting in the tub. Great comfortable bed too, and warm fireplace. We felt that we received great accommodations for the price and we will definitely be back!

Our 3 day stay was excellent indeed. The rooms are very clean and well taken care of. The bed was very easy to sleep in, with the clean silky sheet and the added blankets. The spa tub was a great way to start or finish the day. Each day we were given 3 convenience food items for our free breakfast. If you love movies popcorn and candy this is also free with a 2 movies per room and unlimited returns. Kayaking on in the bay is also free and a good way to relax in natural surroundings. Shopping around the area is some what limited, so expect to travel a few extra miles. The local winery was a nice place to stop off for a little taste of your favorite wine or check out their wine tasting! Then choose your beach, go north 3 miles of south 5-6 miles. There is a state park near by with horse back riding we will have to check out next time. Over all it was clean, relaxing, and fun!

More ammenities than we expected. The room was better, the tub was fabulous, and the dock is great to sit on and relax. Cant wait to go back!

We always enjoy our trips to Wheeler Lodge. This time we took a kayak trip from the lodge to Nehalem for lunch. Last kayak trip we got engaged! The kayaks being free for 2 nights of lodging really helps so we don't have to bring our own. We recommend the Necky Gannet kayaks they offer because they are very stable for beginners. The Honeymoon Suite #7 is an awesome room with it's tub for 2 and a private covered porch which we take advantage of. We think the Glory Suite is the best value because it has a separate Tub room that is closed off from the bedroom which for me doubles as an art room when I get up in the night and do pastels while she sleeps. Our favorite is really the Sunset Room where we first stayed 6 years ago and since Pat & Tracy, a delightful couple have been there, all the rooms and service have increased dramatically. We love to stay there and will be back ASAP.

i would recommend any one to stay here if you are looking for peace and quiet away from the city! Pat and tracery the hosts went an extra mile to make sure our stay was comfortable and they answered any questions we had about local spots to crab, eat, and sites to check out. The price for what you get is very affordable.

We have stayed here numerous times, our favorite suite is the Glory Suite. This suite has a little kitchen area, and a "sun room" which is a little seperate sitting area and spa tub is located there. Everything is clean, clean, clean!!! It is the perfect location for a romantic getaway, to fishing & crabbing. Pat and Tracy are awesome hosts! Extremely friendly, & they understand that when we are there we like our privacy and they respect that 100%. We can't wait to return, the rates are a little bit less expensive in the off season, & since we live only a couple hours away we take full advantage of it! If you like quaint, cozy and comfortable you will love it here!

I hesitate to give a good review because Wheeler on the Bay will become overcrowded with tourists! The place is outstanding in every way. We didn't try Rising Star and perhaps that is the best restaurant for dinner, otherwise dinner dining was lacking.

I picked Wheeler on the Bay Lodge over the internet for a night stay with my sisters who were coming from the Kansas City area, they have never been to the Pacific Northwest. I drove from Portland to Astoria then down the coast and arrived late to Wheeler on the Bay Lodge...we were pleasantly suprised. Pat and Tracy were very friendly, the room was VERY CLEAN and the beds were more than comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful one night stay and I will spread the word to people coming to the beach about Wheeler on the Bay Lodge.

The Wheeler on the Bay was ADORABLE! The couple that run it is soooo sweet and the rooms are cozy, thoughtfully decorated, and WELL STOCKED. We loved the view from the dock, as well as the tub in our room! Will definitely be back and will definitely send friends there! Thanks

This wonderful lodge just keeps getting better and better. I stayed down here in April 2011 by myself and the ambience of a fireplace and free movies was delightful in taking off the chill, damp air. This trip, I brought my husband and another couple. We were delighted in the service, the quality and value for the money. Its obvious that the new owners are putting in lots of small details and accessories to make it a more pleasant stay. Thank you

This was our final stop over on a 6 week trip starting and finishing in Seattle via Utah National Parks and San Diego. A very pleasant surprise ! If we'd known we would have arranged it so that we had at least another night here.

Wheeler the the Bay Lodge is truly a gem! The facilities were clean, quaint and comfortable - an extremely homey atmosphere; not hotelish/motelish in the least. The service was very friendly and courteous. The setting was relaxing and peaceful. Breakfast was perfect. Free rental DVD's with complimentary popcorn, soda to go with. Value was very, very good. We were a party of 10 who had just completed the Portland to Coast Relay - 130 miles - and it was so nice to crash at a place that felt more like we were staying at a friends house, then a place of lodging. We were much impressed and will definitely be back!

A laid back stay, hospitality was awesome, at dusk the herons came in for their nightly feeding which made for great pictures. I have already recommended Wheeler on the Bay to our friends and co-workers.
3.4 on August 29, 2011
Loved the movie selections, the extra goodies - popcorn, candy, etc and the casual environment. Fully intend to come next year. Only complaint was the use of plywood instead of box springs in the "Taste of Tuscany" room. This is why I gave it a two bubble rating instead of the three or four this nice big room otherwise desired. Hopefully this is temporary situation.
2.8 on August 29, 2011
Nice dock to sit on and watch day end. room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Amenities were silly - most minimal gas fireplace, most minimal outside patio, etc. Next time will seach on slow food/slow travel sites and look for more interesting places to stay and dine.

When we drove up to the Wheeler on the Bay Lodge late at night, we were a bit surprised by the rustic appearance of the exterior. It did not look at all like the pictures and initially appeared rustic, and somewhat run down. We were very pleasantly surprised when we were escorted to our room to see a tastefully decorated, absolutely impeccable room! It was spotless. The mirrors and metal surfaces gleamed. The shower and bathroom was fresh, aired out, well appointed & squeaky clean. The memory foam mattress was comfortable in a strange way but perhaps better for those with a smaller size. Paint was fresh and paintings were by local artists and appropriately themed. Linens were high quality, pressed and luxurious. Breakfast was provided by the inkeepers but not in the standard way. At check in we were asked to pick out 3 choices for breakfast which we would then take to our room and prepare ourselves. Our choices included: sausage and egg muffin, bear claw type pastries, cereal or oatmeal, fruit, and yogurt. The room was equipped with a spotless coffee maker, tea, and hot chocolate, as well as M&M's and some Peppermint patties. It also had a sink, dish detergent, dishes, microwave, refrigerator, and all of the things you need to heat up your own instant meal. Our inkeeper was very attentive and at check out he made sure to ask if anything needed repairs, etc.etc. He was genuinely interested in the quality of our stay. In the daylight, we could see the bay and realized that despite our initial concern, that the inn is beautifully situated on an inlet filled with plenty of wildlife and lovely scenery. Our stay was pleasant, quiet, and comfortable, and this was the cleanest inn or hotel room that I have ever been in, and that includes 5 star hotels in Europe. We will definitely go back if we're in the area.

The hostess is definitely there to please. They are always ready to help in one way or another. The views are beautiful and the convenience to the dock for fishing or kayaking is super.

We really enjoyed our stay. It's a small hotel right on the bay water, with adirondack chairs and a nice deck for watching the sunset. The inkeepers were friendly and thorough, and the room was in great shape. Lots of little touches made it feel more like a b&b. Within a block of 2 great restaurants. We liked the semi-private deck right outside our room.

I was taken back by the beautiful view of the marina and the free kayaking was really a selling point for me. The service provided by the Inn Keepers was impeccable. They were very sweet and family oriented. Both Pat and Tracy seemed like people who would bend over backwards for their clientele, which is truly and experience so rarely afforded. Next time I'm in the area I will most certainly stay there again. However, if I had to pick anything that needs improvement I would suggest a more comfortable bed, as I am light sleeper and can't sleep well on firm mattresses such as this one, and it would have been nice to have a larger, more modern tv. I felt like this tv was too small and far away from the viewing area. Also, the color was slightly off. Maybe I'm just used to the luxury of hd tvs.

My mother, sister, and I stayed at Wheeler for one night while driving along the Oregon coast- what a beautiful and quaint location. We sat on their dock in the evening drinking local wine, eating local cheese and fruit, and had a GREAT time. There is lots to do within 15 minutes of the area- several parks, wineries, and towns and beaches.

We were looking for a quiet, romantic place to stay for our Anniversary when I ran across Wheeler On The Bay. I loved that the rooms had fireplaces and spa tubs. I read the reviews and decided to book based on the glowing reviews of service and cleanliness. When we arrived Pat was friendly, checked us in quickly and explained how things work. He then took us to the EXTENSIVE Video Room and loaded us up with movies, popcorn, candy and sodas. We all walked to our room, with Pat helping to carry some of our things. We had elected to stay in the Ebb Tide room and it was delightful! In fact I would say the pictures of the place on the website do not do it justice. The entire place is charming and the view is gorgeous! We stayed Friday-Monday taking advantage of the kayaking, fireplace, spa tub & video room often! Pat and Tracy were so friendly and kind, the view is so amazing (and only 5 min to the beach), the town is adorable with several good restaurants withing a 2-5 minute walk and the room was perfect! We WILL be returning with (and without) our kids! I would 100% recommend Wheeler On The Bay to anyone! Thank you to the Scribners for a WONDERFUL romantic getaway!

This is a great little hotel in a quaint little town. We had never been to Wheeler before, and we were very happy with the hotel and especially with the service. The owners are very helpful and were great with our small children. The room was nice - the sunken, jetted tub was great! Having a kitchenette is also very convenient. The bayfront is a lovely place to watch the sunset. While the breakfast items that come with the room are nothing fancy, it is still nice to have food available when traveling with children. And there are restaurants very nearby for those who prefer a larger breakfast. All in all, it was a great visit, and we'll definitely be back!

This was a perfect, simple place for my family (husband and two young kids). The hosts were wonderful and very accommodating. It was peaceful and a great value! Stay in Room 7 if you get a chance-- nice view and has its own porch overlooking the water. We will be back.

Our family of 5 stayed here at the end of July while traveling down the Oregon Coast. The hosts were amazing and offered a lot of little extras like free popcorn an sodas, movie and game rentals, and a selection of coffees, teas, and other snacks in the room. My kids loved picking out their breakfast goodies and said it felt like being at home. Some of the local restaurants also offer a discount on the meal for staying at the Wheeler. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

We loved the views! The owners made us feel so welcome. They give you a sack breakfast, and there were so many little touches in the room. Loved sitting out on there private dock, and food is only a walk across the street. Wheeler is such a cute little town, and the people are so friendly. We can't wait to go back!

The brown-bag-breakfast was the only negative, but there was an absolutely wonderful breakfast place in Manzanita (not far away) that was worth every penny -- Wanda's. Hopefully Wheeler on the Bay Lodge will be able to offer a discount there soon! Tracy was so helpful & charming! The room we had was wonderful -- best stocked room ever!! And the location was very beautiful & restful.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the homey little suite and the breathtaking view of the bay and wildlife. The breakfast set up(pick 3 items the night before to take to your room for the next morning) is smart for people who would like a healthy breakfast on the go, and the movie/candy scene (free with the room) delighted our kids. We didn't get to go Kayaking, but we certainly will next time. A really nice restaurant next door, very accomodating and friendly owners, and the stay was complete. No palace but good value for the price, and everything we needed at hand. highly recommended.

Me and my husband stayed at WOTB for a week and it was a great place to stay. The rooms are super clean and you get lots of little extras with your room. The owners are very friendly, helpful and nice. We are thinking of going back in the fall and seeing if we can get a some friends to go with us. Wheeler is a small town but nice town and you can travel a few miles and you are on the beach and a larger town. Thank you Pat and Tracy for the great job you are doing.

We went to Wheeler on the Bay for our honeymoon and had an amazing time! The owners are wonderful hosts and you feel truly welcome. There are so many little touches that made the stay extra special. I can't imagine getting nicer accommodations or better treatment at any establishment, and WOTB is very reasonably priced for the luxurious get-away that it provides! We loved dining, hiking, walking on the beach, driving along the coast, spending a day in Seaside...there is also free Kayaking! I highly recommend Wheeler on the Bay, especially for a romantic trip.

The owners are very friendly and the room was spotless. It was a slow weekend so we had the place mostly to ourselves. A very relaxing weekend with the dock and water, free movies for the room and speedy internet service. I'd c ome back for sure.

Nice room and view. Dining in the area was limited. We were hoping for more water sports in the area - kayaking was limited, no sailing or paddle boarding, no boats to rent. Nice place to stay, but a long ways from anything to be worth repeating.

We loved Wheeler on the Bay Lodge! Wheeler is such a cute little town and EVERY single person we encountered there were so nice and friendly! Pat and Tracy made us feel like we were at home and were very attentive. They went out of their way to make sure our anniversary weekend was relaxing, romantic, and fun. The Glory Suite has a GORGEOUS view--you don't even need to get out of bed to enjoy the beautiful views of the Nehalem River and Neahkahnkie Mountain!! It was so nice to take a litte soak in the jacuzzi tub every night while sipping on the sparkling cider Tracy surprised us with in our fridge. So sweet of her! The acitivites the lodge offers for FREE were awesome! Free movies to choose from (even new ones!) and as much soda and snackies you want. We were so excited for the opportunity to use the kayaks anytime we wanted for free with our minimum 2 night stay. Thanks to Pat for the words of encouragement! Getting into a kayak is kind of scary!! :) There are several restaurants and cafes next to and across the street from the lodge to enjoy breakfast (unless you'd like to eat breakfast in your room from the choices on the lodge's list), lunch, and dinner--all with a great view! We WILL be back and are looking forward to it!

Service was outstanding. Huge selection of free movies. Comfortable beds. Free coffee, hot chocolote, apple cider, tea in room. Wheeler is cute town with lots of antique shops. They did a great job converting a motel into a B&B. Breakfast is very simple and you take the food to your room the night before. Would have enjoyed a proper sit down breakfast in a common area.

What a terrific lodge! We've stayed at many places on the Oregon coast, and nothing beats Wheeler on the Bay. Great location (yes, it really is on the bay), quiet and delightful in every way. Hosts Pat and Tracy love what they do and it shows. They go out of their way to please everyone and make you feel at home. They give you a nice continental breakfast each day with six options to choose from. The room had a fireplace, DVD player and its own deck. If you want to watch a movie, DVDs are free, along with popcorn and soda. Best of all, my wife and I got to kayak for free since we stayed two nights. We paddled to the island across the way and had a terrific time thanks to Pat's advice. I'm looking forward to staying here again. I don't think I'd stay anywhere else on the coast. You won't either once you stay here. Barry & Melissa Cadish

I have thoroughly enjoyed three stays at Wheeler Lodge over the past six years and will do so again on my next visit to the area. The site is outstanding in natural beauty and charm and the new hosts couldn't be more accommodating and friendly; they're doing their best to provide every need one could wish and are upgrading and improving somewhat old-fashioned facilities. The little town and the mid north Coast area are a delight; dining out is rather limited but good solid food is provided at a number of places nearby. My wife and I recommend Wheeler Lodge heartily and we didn't even see any elk or seals this time.

This was our second stay at the Wheeler On The Bay Lodge. We were even more impressed with the room, the service, the views, the wildlife and the innkeepers than we were the first time. Service is outstanding! Pat and Tracy make sure your stay is the best and are constantly available for information or anything you might need in your room. The weekend we happened to be there was also when a large herd of elk decided to visit the island we could see right from our room. We spent all three days of our visit watching them, along with the birds and waterfowl, sea otters and seals. It was a great trip! Thank you Pat and Tracy - we'll be back soon!!

What a wonderful place to relax and leave your everday stress behind. Pat and Tracy were very helpful and nice. It felt like home, but better. Loved the Spa Tub in our room and loved the view. Although Wheeler isn't right on the ocean, it's a wonderful beach get-a-way. Close to Nehalem Bay State Park with a great beach, good kayaking and crabbing on the bay, Manzanita and all it's little shops is close by and if you're a birder, check out the sewage ponds. The room was comfortable and has a gas fireplace, the beds were really comfortable, they provide breakfast and free kayaks with a two-night stay, but there's one drawback - no tub in the room we were in. Other than that, I say this is a good place to stay.

My wife and I stayed three nights, for Valentines. I picked the SUNSET room based off previous reviews, and it exceeded my expectation for 'romance'. The lodge is located in a tiny, seclude Oregon Coastal town of less than 400 people. And it is not ideally located if you are looking for "big city" shopping. Good thing for us that we wanted to get away from all that. The owners are about the nicest couple we've ever met at a Bed and Breakfast. She was so kind, thoughtful and helpful throughout our entire stay. The SPA tub in room was lovely so great; it rained every night ~ which provided a WONDERFUL experience, soaking up the HOT while listening to the Rain outside. (and it was COLD out there) We took a tour of many of the other rooms at the Wheeler lodge, and I'm looking forward to our next stay when we bring the kids. OR NOT! John McDaniel II

My wife and I stayed in the sunset room. It was very relaxing, she loved the tub. It basically was a very nicely decorated studio type suite with an awesome tub in it. Its a quiet location, right on the river and it was peaceful waking up to the sight of the river right outside our door. They put a lot of goodies in your room like coffee, candy and mints. You get to pick 3 breakfast items every morning and you take it to your room at night for the next morning. My favorite item was there in plenty, hot cocoa ... mmm yumm... it was right there in the room. The free movie rental is cool, there is a "video store" which is basically a family lifelong collection of movies, we are talking probably a few hundred movies to choose from all layed out like being at a rental store. Was pretty neat!...best part is they were free to watch. The food around town, not too sure about we went to one place which was next door and it wasnt too impressive, was just average food. But all in all loved the place and the hosts are very friendly and take pride in the place. I highly recommend this place. We are planning on staying again for sure!

Our stay was everything we hoped it would be. The room was exactly what a bed and breakfast should be. It was warm and inviting with a beautiful quilt on the bed rather than a clinical mass produced bedspread. It was storming during our visit so we didn't use our private deck but the view was great for storm watching. The Innkeepers were very helpful and friendly. They gave us the option of daily maid service on checkin, we opted to decline since we prefer not to be bothered and we got exactly what we wanted. The room was clean and fully stocked with towels toiletries, even dishes so we didn't need to ask for anything. The room was a terrific value and if you are looking for a nice relaxing getaway I highly recomend it. For entertainment the front desk had movies, books and games available to borrow free of charge. Including new releases. Wheeler is in a nice central location on the coast for traveling both north and south for shopping or sightseeing, and we did just that. The only less than outstanding rating I gave was for dining and that is simply because the dining is not onsite and we dinned at various places along our travel so it really has no bearing on the lodge.

It was a wonderful place to stay, and we'll be back. One comment for repair: some of the deck boards on the nearest dock are getting pretty soft and need replacement before someone breaks through.

The "Bay" never disappoints. It's clean, roomy and comfortable, and best of all, an amazing value.

My Fiance and I stayed 2 nights and I could not have asked for a better experience. The price was very reasonable (great actually), the help friendly and the room was cute, clean and romantic. We definately intend to return.

I was thrilled to book a very inexpensive last-minute stay here, excited about the fireplace, spa, TV, & breakfast included. Having the spa tub in-room was nice, but everything else was on the discount side of my B&B experiences. Cheap carpet, plastic flowers, small TV, small fireplace, and the "breakfast" is a pick of instant oatmeal and other pre-packaged gas-station finds. Overall, a discount/economy version of the cozy & romantic getaway I'd hoped for. The staff is very kind and friendly, and it is clean. As a cash-strapped pair of college newlyweds, we would have been grateful to find it...it's just been a long time since then. ;)

This place is my all time favorite. The owners / Inn keepers are very hospitable, and will make every effort to assist you with your needs. The rooms are very well maintained and clean. You cant beat the view or ambiance Wheeler has offer. The river is packed full of fish or you can head out to the ocean, a guide will come to pick you up right at your room/dock. My girlfriend and I tried scuba diving up there this time. The diving was not the best (due to a storm) but the owners were very helpful in attempting to find us another local dive site. I would recommend this place to anyone and I will definitely stay here again...

The location by the water was very pleasant. They have a very strange breakfast arrangement. You get to pick 3 items and take them to your room. The room was pleasant, but the bed was so high it was hard to climb into if you were short. My husband loved the room. I thought it was OK, but not one of my absolute favorites.

The innkeepers are very helpful and welcoming and the rooms are warm and personable. Lots of homey stuff. The view of Nehalem Bay is stunning!

We have stayed at Wheeler on the Bay twice in the last 3 years. Both visits were very enjoyable and the Innkeepers are very friendly. We plan on visiting again in the next year or 2.

We love the big huge jacuzzi tub in the room! It was nice to be able to sit in it and have a beautiful, watch movies, or have complete privacy. We loved sitting on the back deck drinking coffee. The service was very nice -- the people were very friendly and attentive. Thank you!

I was in the otter room. It did not have a closet or easy place to hang clothes other than 3 hooks. Other than that it was fine. Wonderful service and solid value. I expect a clean room and yours was. The area dining and all of your little things to make our stay nice were great.

My husband and I recently stayed in the "Glory Suite" at Wheeler on the Bay Lodge. It was wonderful. We had our own little solarium with huge spa tub that was incredibly relaxing! Great views of the river from both our bedroom and the solarium. The room also has a small refrigerator, coffeemaker, and microwave. They stocked us with plenty of snacks, like free microwave popcorn and pop. The breakfast is not a hot cooked meal but they offer fruit, instant oatmeal, breakfast bars, etc., which was just fine with us. They are very clear during the reservations process so we knew exactly what to expect. There is a wonderful little cafe "Rising Star" a 5 min walk just across the road anyways. Pat and Tracy are very warm and friendly and responded to any request we had. It was soooo peaceful to sit on the deck and watch the river wildlife. We literally saw fish jumping out of the water. We'll definitely return.

Last year our car stayed park, this year, due to lots of rain, we took our car out once. We managed to kayak everyday, ate in town at the Tsunami (delish), played games with friends AND did some watercolor painting in the spa room that overlooked the water-perfect mini art studio. We can't wait to go back. Having a room with a little kitchenette was great and we had enough room to play games with our friends that had the room next door. They were so happy we told them about Wheeler on the Bay. Next year, we may take 3 rooms!

I decided to head down the OR coast for the Labor Day weekend in order to unwind and relax. I initially chose Wheeler on the Bay Lodge because of their free kayak rental special. I ended up loving this place because the service is pretty great. I called a few days before my arrival and inquired about getting a larger room. Although all rooms were booked, they called around and were able to find a group that was willing to switch with us. They go the extra mile, which I really appreciated. The room was great. The free snacks and breakfast items were also very nice. Being able to grab a kayak and go whenever was also great. The place is situated midway between Tillamook and Seaside, which is nice because it was easy to head down and spend the day a Rockaway Beach and then go back up and have dinner in Seaside. Being patrons of the lodge also got us discounts at the restaurants across the street. I will definitely patron Wheeler on the Bay Lodge again.

We stayed one night during our honeymoon. The view was beautiful, our room looked out on the water. The room was comfortable and I really enjoyed the jetted tub. The room was stocked with wine glasses, dishes, mini fridge and microwave so we could manage to stay in for the night. The decor was a little dated and mismatched in my opinion but we all have different tastes. The owners were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The dining consisted of our choice 3 items from a small selection of items for breakfast: yogurt, cereal, milk, juice, fruit, danish (all prepackaged in small sizes) I wouldn't call it a bed and breakfast- we aren't big eaters but ate out for breakfast an hour after checking out. The location was a little disapointing we were hungry when we arrived at 215pm on a Monday and 5 restuarants in the near vacinity were all closed. As far as value was concerned i was happy with it, but as our week progressed and I compared it to other locations I feel like we overpaid. In the off season I would go back but summer rates were to high for what we got out of it.

Wheeler on the Bay is a great place with amaizng hospitality, so friendly it's almost like staying with family. The price is excellent, free movies and breakfast, many rooms have spas and fireplaces in them, with beautiful views of the bay! You can go kayaking and crabbing, shopping and dining all close by on foot!

Booked this room as a last minute getaway with my wife. Staff is very friendly and kind. Our room was on the end, facing the bay and had a nice view. Main problem was a lack of privacy. The door to the room was a large sliding glass door with vertical blinds that were broken and didn't close all the way - leaving room for peeking in. Also, walls were paper thin and we could hear the TV loudly in the room next door. Decor was cheesy and overdone. 4 miles up the road is Manzanita with tons of vacation homes at a better value. Again, nice folks running the place - just not the best value around.

My husband and I had the most relaxing vacation at Wheeler on the Bay. We parked our car, unloaded our things, took down our kayak and stayed for unbelievable sunsets, cozy room, gracious hosts, and wildlife watching. We took our kayak out sometimes twice a day. The dock was right outside our room. We walked the little town. Found places to eat (breakfast was provided) and felt relaxed.

Pat and Tracy certainly go the extra mile to make visitors feel welcome. The "little extras" like free movies, free treats, and their genuine concern for our comfort made our 2 night stay one we will cherish for a long time.

What relief!, When our son told us that they were getting Married and that her family was going to take advantage of the vacation they had been planning for a year on the Oregon coast and have a wedding on the beach. I feared the worst in what it was going to cost me to get space for 10 people from the groom's side of the family. My wife found Wheeler on the Bay and it was an answer to prayer. Not only was this the best value we could find in 100 miles, Pat and Tracy went out of their way to make sure that we had a great stay. We stayed in the Captain's Quarters (sleeps 10), and while the stairs were a little steep for Mom, it just added to the coastal charm that is present in each room. Every thing was clean and fresh, and the movie selections provided distraction when needed. If we come to the Oregon Coast again, we know where we want to stay for sure. Be sure and take advantage of the kayaks! What and Awesome trip! Thanks you Pat and Tracy!

Great website lured me in, great value for my bucks sealed the deal. Great experience with view of calm water, birds, elk and the care of genuinely friendly innkeepers ensure I'll return.

What a pleasant surprise! I had never been to Wheeler and didn't know what to expect. Tracy and Pat make you feel like a very special part of family. The rooms are spotless and cosy. Very comfortable beds and quiet. When they found out it was my friends birthday, they put a couple of special touches in the room. We had a free movie rental and I doubt we could have found anything half as nice for the very reasonable price. We had a great stay and will definitely be back. Didn't eat there, so I can't rate the dining but everything else was outstanding.
