    Signature Dish

    Authentic Scottish Cooking
We work to make our breakfasts as healthy as possible while still allowing a bit of 'cheating' while you're on vacation. Our Celtic scone recipe is over 100 years old and they are made by hand. Dee, our resident Scotsman, is very proud of his signature Lorne Sausage, which is a mixture of beef, pork and a secret blend of spices. A far cry from haggis! Each morning we prepare fresh fruit dishes, such as our 'Paisley Parfait' with fruit from local farmer's markets (in season) and we use local farm fresh, free range eggs in our main dishes as well. We will always try to accomodate those with allergies, dislikes or special dietary needs.

Seal Rock "is" the central coast of Oregon, folks - the perfect location for exploring as far south as Coos Bay/Charleston, as far north as Tillamook, and as far west as Eugene. As a B&B the Caledonia House is - or at least should be - among your top choices in the Newport area. The home and property epitomize casual elegance and the innkeepers provide that "extra" level of attention to each and every detail - inside and out - that now that I'm home brings a smile to my face just thinking about it. There's a private indoor (separate from the home itself) "soaking jacuzzi" suitable for private relaxation as well... er... "couples relaxation." The home is set on almost three acres of property and Dee (the host) has created marketed walking paths that offer a bit of an outdoor "retreat" without having to leave the property. The home is furnished and decorated beautifully - again, "elegant" comes to mind, but never stuffy. Light, cheerful, airy, and the "Scottish ambiance" sets Caledonia House apart from your more "run of the mill" B&B. Breakfasts were wonderful! Again... the word "elegant" comes to mind. Whether Dee or Belinda is cooking you're sure to enjoy your home-cooked multi-course breakfast which tastes as good as it looks! (Again... they're big on "presentation" here.) My wife and I stayed in the Sandy Suite and it was perfect. All the rooms, however, offered their own unique warmness. I highly recommend that folks check out the Caledonia House website and read the story behind the B&B and its owners. Even if you don't stay there, Dee and Belinda provide a list of "things to do, places to go, restaurants and experiences" on their website that is well worth considering. Basically, Dee and Belinda "deserve" your business and as a picky guy with very high standards I can tell you... you'll be happy you took my advice!

    Wonderful B&B!

My hubby & I stayed for our anniversary (over labor day weekend) and would definitely recommend it and go again if we had a chance! Beautiful rooms (we stayed in Kintyre, a little smaller than imagined, but nice. Toured the rest of the rooms and they were amazing looking!) Great service. DELICIOUS food. WONDERFUL location: right across the road from some beautiful sandy beaches with hardly any others there, just about 10 minutes south of Newport for good food and shopping and events. Beautiful land out back with a place to walk around and get some fresh air. The owners have thought of everything - very detail oriented and quick to resolve anything amiss. Lovely all around.
