C.H. Bailey House

We are wine enthusiasts and were invited to Roseburg by Tesoaria for a wine club members holiday event, which was spectacular. I made reservations to stay overnight because 1) it is a four-hour drive home for us and 2) we came to enjoy ourselves and that included consumption of wine! Upon arrival at the C.H. Bailey House, we were warmly welcomed by with a smile by Sherry followed by tour of the home. The home is appointed nicely and extremely well maintained. Our room was cozy with a gas burning stove to add a romantic atmosphere. Top notch mattress and beautiful bedding make for a good nights rest. The shower has good water pressure, too (a real plus in a historic home)! We woke up to the smell coffee and a home cooked breakfast, which was elegantly prepared with local sustainable food, served with love, and good to the last bite. I could ramble on and on about the outstanding hospitality and service from the time you arrive until the time you check out. It is obvious that Sherry and Jay love what they do because it shows in every aspect of their bed and breakfast. So rather than keep on with the rambling, make a reservation and have the experience for yourself! ~Mari & Bob

We had an incredible stay at C.H. Bailey House. The room was perfect and the bed was very cozy. It was a great place to stay to visit the local wineries and to head out for a day of hiking waterfalls. The breakfasts were delicious and the right size. We loved the fact that they have wine & beer available. We highly recommend staying 3 nights to fully relax and to enjoy. Sherry & Jay were great hosts.

This was the first time we have stayed at a B&B and we have been spoiled. As you drive towards the house, the scenery is peaceful. As you step into the porch and walk inside you discover this beautiful, well-appointed English country side home. My husband and I spent 2 nights at C.H.Bailey House and were completely satisfied. The house is in the country and very quiet and comfortable. The hosts, Sherry and Jay, were very hospitable and Sherry's breakfasts are healthy, filling and delicious, definitly a cut above the usual. When you books something online, there's always that doubt that maybe it won't look the way it looks online or be as wonderful as you hope, but the CH Bailey House was wonderful all around. Favorites- the house and rooms are beautiful, great breakfasts (local and organic produce was a big bonus for us, as was the garden), the view of the surrounding farms from our room was so nice to wake up to, and throwing darts in the barn at night was so fun. Sherry and Jay really get it. They are lovely people, and also warm, friendly hosts who were accomodating to dietary needs, and really helpful when it came to restaurant/winery recommendations and driving directions. If it's been a while since you've seen the stars or enjoyed a glass of wine in a hot tub while listening to Sinatra, then book a room here.

From the moment we drove into the yard we felt we had entered paradise. Our hosts were gracious and our room was amazing. The gardens, porches and views of the meadows enchanting. It's a while from town but more than worth the drive into the farmlands. The B&B is well maintained and immaculately clean. Sherry welcomed us, showed us the ropes and our room, and let us know that she would be available whenever we needed something but that they did not like to "hover" over their guests. Just right by us. Our breakfast was fantastic and we were able to eat on the front veranda and enjoy the beautiful quiet of a country morning. We would recommend C.H. Bailey house to anyone who wants a respite from the traffic and commotion of in-town locations. Two (I guess it's actually four) thumbs up.

huge ,modern rooms; beautiful, fresh ingredients in the breakfasts that area feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. The entire farm is manicured and the laying hens seem very content--- they deliver delicious eggs. I have been in several B+B's across the states....this is one of the very best.

A B&B with complete attention to every little detail and service without ever missing a beat. The house, the rooms, the garden; everything is cared for with love and complete dedication. Breakfast in the garden was super, home made eggs benedict and muffins, fresh fruit and coffee and tea already available outside your room half an hour before you signed up for your breakfast. The king size bed fit for a king (and queen).

Friendly hosts. They showed us around a bit, then let us on our own to explore. A barn was fixed up with a pool table and other activities, refreshments, and an old car on display. The main building was adorned very nicely in the antique style. Wine and other refreshments were also provided. Nice stay.

My wife (Leslie) and I spent an evening at the C.H. Bailey House on our way to Ashland, Oregon—we know wish we would have spent an extra day at C.H. Bailey because of the great time we had. We arrived in the late afternoon and Sherry and Jay where there to greet us and tour their B&B. They offered us wine and a cold beer on draft. The beer was an IPA from Lompoc Brewery and it was delicious. Jay varies up the beer but based on his selection of the Lompoc IPA he knows how to pick a good beer. Rather than going into town for dinner my wife and I chose to have a light dinner of cheese, bread and fruit sitting on their beautiful porch, sipping a glass of wine, overlooking their meticulously landscaped property and the rolling hills across the street. After dinner we sat in the hot tub and relaxed even more. Relaxation doesn’t come easy to me—but the environment and our hosts made it easy. Our room was spacious and welcoming, and the king-size bed was more comfortable than the one we have at home. Sherry delivers a pot of coffee outside your door about an hour before scheduled breakfast. Leslie and I sat in our room drinking coffee and reading until our delicious gourmet breakfast was served promptly at our requested time. I highly recommend C.H. Bailey house and its outstanding hosts Sherry and Jay.

One of my top three B and B's. Sherry (owner) is wonderful! I would recommend this place anytime. All senses are pleased by; the food and wine, the beautiful scenery, and the sounds of nature. I have found in my travels that I like less rooms in a bed and breakfast. Sherry offers four rooms, all have beautiful views. You are sure to find at least one room with which you will fall in love. Literally and figuritively! Check out the C.H. Bailey House website. Once you have stayed you will want to go back. Thank you for an AWESOME stay! RMC (coffee and tea will be placed on the landing in the morning for you and you Don't have to get up at 8:00am to eat breakfast).

The C.H. Bailey room was a very pleasant experience. We had a fantastic stay! Sherry is a great host. Fresh eggs, creative egg dishes and organic berries from her garden every morning. It was amazing! The place is super cute and a nice getaway from our normal hustle / bustle. The room we stayed in was really nice and we came back to beds re-made every morning and the room picked up nicely. Sherry was extremely sweet and helpful the entire time. Great hostess and we really had a lot of fun. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway and some wine tasting in Oregon.

Didn't see the hosts much but that was fine with me. Breakfast was great - we were both very happy. The beds was comfortable and we slept well. Oh, and a great shower too! Strong water pressure from a good shower head. It's off the beaten path but that makes it nice and quiet at night.

What a great way to end a day of wine tasting in the Umpqua are. Surrounded by pretty hills in a beautiful setting, the house is exquisitely decorated, Sherry (owner/hostess) was at our beck and call, we had a great night's sleep on an extremely comfortable bed, and breakfast was absolutely delicious. I made a reservation to stay at the C.H. Bailey House as a break after the stress of planning a move, packing, etc. I found it on line and was intrigued by the elegance and authenticity of the decor. We were looking for a rental in the area, while trying to sell our home in another state. The first night I had trouble relaxing, we were keyed up from all the activities we were dealing with. However, due to the gourmet breakfasts, attention to details, as well as plenty of privacy, we began to feel our stress decrease as we returned to the Bailey House each evening. Sherry had thought of everything; we could choose our time for breakfast, she provided coffee waiting outside out door an hour before breakfast, which was served in the lovely dining room. She also provided a small refrigerator outside of the room, with ice cream and wine later in the evening if so inclined. Sherry and Jay have created a lovely, elegant, and relaxing environment only 10 miles from Roseburg. Also, being able to walk out the door, into the fields and unwind while enjoying the beautiful rolling hills, was lovely! I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone.

We enjoyed our relaxing 2 night stay while doing some wine tasting at several local wineries. Gave us a chance to unwind. We both enjoyed the grounds, taking a "hike" and see some wildlife and just enjoying the tranquil country setting. Each breakfast was cooked to perfection. Impressive attention to detail like made-up handouts on local restaurants and chocolates in the room. Scenic and relaxing setting away from city noise. So peaceful out in the country and Sherry was so wonderful and friendly. A girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay after a day of wine tasting in the valley. We arrived to the smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The gardens were lovely, even in the gray of the showers we had that evening. My co-worker and I recently stayed here while we were conducting a training. This bed and breakfast was a great place to return to after a long day of training. Free wine in the evening, great views of the mountains, serene setting, and lovely owners made our trip wonderful. Highly recommend the Melton Room. Owners went out of their way to accomodate us and make sure that we had everything that we needed. You won't be disappointed.

Our spacious room (Melton) was comfortable and attractive without being over-the-top as some B&Bs can be. Pastoral views were peaceful and especially nice in the morning. The hosts were helpful but only as involved as we needed them to be, which is what we prefer. Refreshment fridge and coffee brought up to the room in the morning was a wonderful amenity! Breakfast was truly gourmet- individually prepared to our tastes with high-quality ingredients. This is what made the price a good value.

This B&B is an example of loving care, inkeepers who understand the value and of loving investment in their business. Hard work and attention to detail, is evident everywhere. The Bailey house is immaculate in every corner and decorated WITH cozy TASTE. Three large rooms offer private comfy areas where guests can sit, read and enjoy privacy. Each room is tastefully decorated, as is the entire house. Sherry is a foodie and spares nothing to deliver a first class mouth-watering breakfast. During this visit, she started with a perfectly ripe, sliced pear, drizzled with a caramel sauce. This was followed by toasted ciabatta topped with prosciutto and perfectly poached eggs accompanied by a pecan/orange muffin warmed to perfection. Guests are welcomed by white and red wines from the region, along with a stocked refrigerator near the upstairs rooms. Coffee and tea are left to the guests convenience in the morning. Fresh flowers scattered throughout the house, another marker of the aesthetic care and taste of the owners. The house itself lies in the beautiful rolling countryside near Roseburg, making it a peaceful, restful stop...truly an oasis. The grounds are extensive and lovingly attended and manicured, a delight to the eye and demonstration of the hard work required to deliver a perfectly lovely B&B to lucky guests. There is a hint of Tuscany in the countryside. Prices are definitely fair given the value here. Innkeepers are welcoming, attentive and present for guests while also leaving room for plenty of privacy.

In the middle of idyllic pastures and quiet rolling farmland rests the CH Bailey House. A beautifully restored old home filled with tasteful, elegant comfort, just right, not overly done and in keeping with it's timeless architecture. It SHOULD NOT be missed and is worth a visit regardless of your destination. Manicured lawns and wide slices of country space welcome one to roam in country silence. A perfect escape especially form I-5. While it lies about 10 miles off the Roseburg Oregon I-5 exit (be sure and copy directions or you will get uneccessarily lost), it is still close enough to city restaurants and Rosebury amenities if needed. But this is not why one would stop at CH Bailey rather to find the corner haven for a truly restful adventure at costs not much more than cold, lifeless chain hotels just off I-5. Sherry is a "foodie" and presents a lovely breakfast that reflects her well developed culinary tastes and skills. The morning we were there she served poached eggs with proscuitto on top of toasted ciabatta with perfect garden tomatoes and a sprig of basil. It was the kind of breakfast so good it leaves you hungry for more. One of the loveliest extras are wines offered complimentary to guests from her region. The beauty and perfection of the CH Bailey house is a result of two caring, lovely young owners who clearly take pride in their business and who have paid attention to every detail. And it is us as guests who reap the rewards of their offerings. It is a MUST STOP and soon will be one of those places impossible to get into because of the return customers who've fallen in love with it.

This is such an awesome B&B. Sept. 2010 was our 3rd consecutive year of staying at Sherry's & Jay's. They are warm and welcome hosts that it feels like visiting family. The surrounding area is relaxing and truly gets you away from the big city. We like hearing the sounds from nearby farm animals and listening and smelling the day and night air. We enjoy our coffee in the room's sitting area often looking out at mist and fog. We have also enjoyed Sherry's cooking and look forward to dinners she served for us. It is fair to say that being in the 'business' makes my level of expectation somewhat higher than most. It is also fair to say that my wife and I were completely blown away by the attention to detail and quality of our experience provided by the inn keepers, Sherry and Jay. From the general beauty of this restored turn of the centry farm house to small wonders like local wines, locally made soap and locally made chocolates. Breakfast was tasty and beautiful to the eye, especily when served at a romantic deuce set into the flower and herb garden. We will be back as we did not have the time to enjoy a wander out into the Christams tree farm or the hot tub.

On our recent trip to Oregon, we had the pleasure of staying at this bed and breakfast for one night. My only complaint is that we should have stayed there longer. The Melton room was elegant and beautifully decorated. There was a sitting room in our suite which had a fantastic view. The surroundings are peaceful and beautiful. The service was outstanding and the breakfast was fantastic. We will definitely return but would plan on staying longer.

This bed and breakfast establishment is quietly elegant and superbly appointed. The beds were extremely comfortable; the hosts bring out antique crystal and place settings for breakfast and even for the bathrooms; the setting is as lovely as advertised; and there are lovely sitting areas inside and out, front and back from which to enjoy the vistas. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Driving from CA to WA on a busy weekend, we called en route at the recommendation of a friend never expecting to find a room, let alone such a lucious site and B & B. The outside gardens were a perfection of color and scent, carried beautifully indoors into decorative touches of fresh roses in every room. The views were bucolic and pastoral. The humans, dogs, cats all perfectly reflected the gentle, calm beauty of the place. Wine offerings from nearby vineyards were a lovely touch. Breakfast was fresh berries, eggs, and fruit, all gathered and cooked/baked and exquisitely and tastefully served outside in the morning garden sun. Go out of your way for this place. Even if you live in Roseburg, OR, it's worth the restful stay!

The Bailey House was the perfect relaxation spot for my wife and I. The view from our room with our morning coffee was perfect. Enjoyed hiking around the local waterfalls. Spent two nights here while Steelhead fishing the Umpqua recently. Jay and Sherry are two of the finest hosts you could possibly hope for. They are quick to make you feel like family without being too encroaching. Sherry is a fantastic cook. She cooked dinner for us on our schedule and was up before 5 AM to make sure we had breakfast and packed up wonderful lunches for our days on the water. I would not think of staying anywhere else when in the area again and I am hoping to get back there with my wife for a couple of days of winery tours.

We have made it our priority to stay at the Bailey House every year.We feel that Sherry and Jay have become family for us, they are the nicest folks and their son Colin is so precious. If anyone is looking for a place were you want to be treated like royalty this is the place for you. The rooms are amazing! the surroundings are peaceful and beautiful and the hospitality is priceless! We can hardly wait for our upcoming visit this year.

Jay and Sherry are awesome hosts and their son Colin is a delight. This B&B is tastefully decorated with antiques. Relaxing in our comfortable sitting room and sipping complimentary wine put us in a relaxed mode. Our room overlooked a peaceful rural setting where we watched cattle grazing and we even saw a doe and fawn visit the yard. Upon arrival two friendly dogs (Murphy and Guiness) gave us a hearty welcome which made us feel right at home. We were impressed that we could choose our breakfast time, by writing our names on a blackboard by one of the four time choices offered. Breakfast was scrumptious and contained fresh seasonal items which were expertly described by Sherry. Many of the items were from her own garden. Jay and Sherry have created a B&B which sets the standard for all other B&Bs.

The accommodations are beautiful, the hosts are wonderful, and the food is the best I've had at a B&B. Take a detour if you must, but do stay here at least once.

We stayed there three nights last July during our Oregon Tour. Sherry and Jay treated us greatly and the whole family voted Bailey house our best american accomodation. It is a quiet and comfortable place to rest and the food is just wonderfull. I have eaten there the best blueberry pancakes on Earth. Last but not least, my wife Agathe can't eat gluten, and Sherry offered her every morning pastries made with gluten free flour. Agathe really appreciated this so nice attention. Jay, Sherry and her mom, thank you very much again to all of you.

We stayed on the way to WA from CA on a Thursday night. It was a full house! Sherrie served us breakfast in the back garden with eggs I watched her gather just minutes before. We enjoyed it so much we booked it again for our drive home. The food was superb, beautiful blueberry pancakes with sausage. Diane Madden

What a place! We were so lucky we discovered this comfortable, tranquil retreat. Sherry not only treated us to a scrumptious breakfast, but brought us a salad fresh from her garden to go with the dinner we had ordered (ok, so it was pizza...but, try Abby's Mediterranean if you want another treat...was great to enjoy on the front porch with a nice glass of wine). The setting, the gorgeous gardens, the marvelous pets (Guinness, Murphy, Miss Olive), the cozy room...wish I was there!

This was a brief stay in the elegance of yesteryear. Comfortable, tasteful.A reminder of how hospitality used to be. And the breakfasts are excellent! We look forward to a return trip! Nancy and Don Creelman Lombard, IL

Our experience there was wonderful! We stayed one night but felt very comfortable walking around the property enjoying great complimentary wine and appetizers, and the hospitality of Jay and Sherry was amazing. It was nice being out in the quiet country, yet able to enjoy all the modern amenities! We are already recommending this place to all our family and friends.

Everything you could want in a weekend getaway. My Husband and I live just 10 miles away and yet we felt like we were 100 miles away from the everyday stress of life. Jay and Sherry were awsome host. It was so relaxing enjoying a glass of wine and sitting on the front porch swing and out in the gardens in back. The home and gardens are Spectacular. Definetly a 5 star Bed & Breakfast. We live in Hawaii and were in a rut. We needed a restful, yet beautiful getaway. So when we say it was a really beautiful place, you can believe we know what we are talking about. Jay and Sherry and their little boy opened their hearts to us and we felt very welcomed. Just gazing across the pastures, covered with yellow blossoms, was so relaxing. We did not want to leave. We hope you can enjoy this wonderful getaway like we did. The food was excellent.

C.H. Bailey House is the way a B&B should be. Spotless rooms, modern amenities (including plasma TVs and wireless internet), top-notch gourmet breakfast and outstanding service!!!

Stayed here twice - one night each time. Very pleasant stay. Jay and Sherry were verrrryyyy well schooled and verrryyy thoughtful in their approach to hosting a bed and breakfast house. Talking with them about their journey to this point enlightened me to the work and research they've done to provide the most enjoyable experience for all visitors. I talked w/ Sherry one morning so much she burned two racks of bacon while preparing breakfast. Sorry!! My last breakfast was in the kitchen talking to Jay while he prepared a sausage, cream, spinach and eggs (from the back yard chicken coop) dish, that was delicious. Great place, looking fwd to future stays.

Quiet, lovely countryside location. Attractive interior with well chosen furniture and decor. Very well kept, clean and welcoming atmosphere. Our twin room was beautiful with a spacious bathroom and good lighting.

The C.H. Baily House is the place to go! The house is absolutely beautiful. Complimentary wine and cognac is offered. Breakfast is a delight!

Lovely home in rural setting. very quiet and the food is wonderful!

Everything about our stay was perfect, from the wine, to the linens, to the mattress (I MUST find one like it somewhere for my home bed!), to the breakfast. The hosts were so gracious, and everything was spotless! There were lots of nice extras, like the view, gourmet chocolates in the room, morning coffee, tea and biscotti outside your door, chilled white wine in the guests' fridge and red winewhiskey and nice glasses on the dining room sideboard. There was a cozy living room for guests with a TV and fireplace. They even made dinner reservations for us at a great Italian place. PERFECT!

Beautifully restored historic home, tremendous attention to detail! Sherry brought tasty afternoon hors d’oeuvres to our room and her "carrot cake" pancakes for breakfast were fabulous!

Blinds need to provide privacy at night or when indoor lighting is required...especially bathroom

We spent two nights here and loved every minute of it. To sit on the front porch with a glass of wine and hear nothing but crickets and the cows grazing across the road was so relaxing. We would love to return in the spring to see how green it can be. Jay & Sherry were the perfect hosts.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. Jay and Sherry, plus Sherry's mom, are great hosts, not to mention fabulous chefs! (Get Jay to serve his favorite frittata!) The grounds are nice and neat, and the game room in the barn is a nice touch. The next time, maybe we'll do the wine tour in the roadster!

This is a wonderful place to experience OR. Their home is enchanting, the food is gourmet and their attention to detail second to none. The rooms are charming and clean. I loved having coffee right on the landing when I woke up. Amazing place to stay. I would recommend this to all who love B & B's.

We recently celebrated our anniversary with a stay at the CH Bailey House while wine tasting in the area. EVERYTHING WAS FABULOUS! From the beautiful views to the sumptious bedding and delicious & different cuisine (broiled gingered grapefruit - yum) Sherry & Ray were the perfect hosts. We shall definitely return. This is the best B & B we've stayed at in Oregon!

Every room is graciously appointed. The home has been lovingly restored down to the smallest detail. Breakfasts are gourmet delights with many ingredients fresh from the backyard garden. Linens, china, silver, decor, all exquisite. Sherry and Jay have created the best B&B.

Jay and Shari were wonderful hosts-greatdinner restaurant suggestions- pleasant to talk with without infringing on our privacy-2 dogs and 2 cats (outdoors) made it like home. It will be hard to top this one!

We stayed 3 nights with our 1 year old son and another couple. We were made to feel completely comfortable staying at such a nice place with a small child. They even made special accomodations for our baby to have his own space. The level of consciencious hospitality given to us was unsurpassed! We definitely will be back.

We visited Bailey House for our weekend Anniversary trip. Not only are there beautiful grounds, the service is outstanding. We were given hour'derves upon arrival and given spectacular service. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful. We highly recommend Bailey House for you stay in Roseburg and we definitely plan on staying again.

The C.H. Bailey House is a fantastic place to stay. We were part of a group of three couples who stayed there while touring Umpqua Valley wineries. The rooms are very large and extremely nice. The large front porch is a great place to watch the sun go down and relax after a fun day. Jay and Sherry are fantastic hosts. They were very accomodating, helping us find restaurants, wineries, etc. The breakfasts, hors d'oeuvres, and wine were outstanding. We had a great weekend and would recommend the C.H. Bailey House highly.

My wife and I love staying at B & B's. This is by far the nicest. The work that they have done here is incredible and we loved the attention to detail. We called only a couple of hours before we got there and they still got us in. Not only did they get us in but they delivered warm cookies straight from the oven to our room before bed. We will stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay very much despite the rain and hope to return. The house is charming, comfortable and, large enough you feel like you are the only one being catered to. The room we chose had a beautiful view and a wonderful bed. A bit of paradise in a country setting.

What a gorgeous setting and awesome B&B! Jay & Sherry were so personable and went above and beyond to make our stay extra special! We love staying at different B&Bs whenever we travel and we both agreed that C.H. Bailey House combined all the best amenities of our favorite places...so now we have a NEW favorite!! We had such a lovely visit to the Bailey House. They completely spoiled us and couldn't have been nicer hosts. The accomadations are superb and the food is wonderful, it was such a treat! We are definitely visiting them again.

We enjoyed the quiet setting a few miles from town where we felt like special guests. Our rooms had a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. We read for hours and walked through the Christmas tree farm nearby. Nice touches like coffee right outside our door in the morning and wine and goodies in the fridge for later in the day. The gourmet breakfast was delicious. Jay and Sherry are very accommodating hosts.
