Very small rooms with little space for luggage even when traveling light. Overpriced but there's little choice when you want to see Crater Lake. The breakfasts were great but dinner somewhat disappointing- over cooked salmon, tough prime rib & quite expensive. Staff great including reception & waitresses.

Stayed in the self contained motel room so can't comment on the dinning but the room met all of our expectations. It's clean, has everything required to cook a meal and is family friendly. Close to crater lake, which was the main reason we chose this accommodation. Very happy to recommend this Hotel / Motel

We spent 2 nights at the Prospect Historic Hotel. The staff went out of their way to insure a great stay.

Took friends from North Carolina to stay there. The town of Prospect doesn't have all that much to offer, but the inn is quite nice. The food was a notch above good, but the facilities are extremely well taken care of, the rooms neat and very clean. We stayed in the inn, and looked at the 'motel' style rooms, where were less expensive and also very neat and clean. Lots to see and hiking in the area. The airport is also 1/4 mill away for those that might want to fly in.

We had a wonderful time at Prospect Historic Hotel. It was great to learn about the long history of the place and spend the night in a beautifully decorated and cozy room. The dinner menu is outstanding and the staff gives you a lot of ideas to walk around and see places nearby, as well as information on activities at Crater Lake. We recommend the hotel 100%!

The property is lovely and is within walking distance or a short drive from several beautiful waterfalls. All of the staff was friendly, helpful. and professional. My room was not in the main house, but was spacious, clean, and comfortable. My dinner in the restaurant/dining room was tasty, well-prepared, and of generous portion and my server was helpful in choosing the right wine to go with the meal. I only spent one night, but wish I had more time at this place of lodging, both to experience their hospitality and to further explore the area.

Husband and I stayed in motel room along with our daughter and her husband. Rooms were small and oldish but adequate. We knew we would arrive late so were happy to have kitchen facilities to make our own supper. Price for the 2 couples was reasonable considering close location. Also, waterfalls in the area were worth the stop.

A friend and I were looking to stay somewhere near Crater Lake National Park, there aren't a huge amount of options (unless you fancy camping) so we opted for the Prospect Hotel. It's about 40 minutes from the main tourist drag inside the park, so a reasonable drive, the drive into the park is spectacular by the way. On checking in, the guy on the desk was a mine of information on the park and local sights which was very helpful. The hotel itself is very old and the rooms are decorated as such, i.e. old fashioned, but this is all part of the charm. The beds are comfortable and the shower was very powerful which is what you need after a day's hiking. Breakfast is included and was very good indeed, all the usual American style breakfast options are catered for. We also ate in the Dinner House which is the restaurant inside the hotel, if you're staying at the hotel it's worth eating dinner there, firstly because there's not much else nearby and secondly because it's actually very good, albeit the menu isn't huge. If I ever visit Crater Lake again then I'd look to book up the Prospect without any hesitation.

After a day exploring Crater Lake, it was wonderful to relax on the porch at the Prospect Hotel and drink from a frosted mug filled with a locally brewed beer! The dining room is lovely; both the food and service wonderful. I would definitely return and would request the Pearson Room again.

Didn't get a chance to explore the actual hotel, I stayed in one of the motel style units. Small but functional. Ate dinner at the hotel, had to send my ribeye back, I ordered medium rare but got what I thought was rare. Seared on the outside and inside very rare. Sent it back and they just heated it up a bit, didn't really change much. Server was very considerate and offered to comp something. If you stay here make sure to book meal reservations, all I saw was the hotel/restaurant, general store, school(?), and bar/pizza place.

We had a wonderful stay at the Prospect Hotel/Motel on our way up to see Crater Lake. This hotel/motel has a lot of charm, wonderful service, excellent food at the restaurant (we had breakfast there the next morning), and we especially like the large porch outside. We played cards with our family out on the porch during the evening, enjoyed our coffee on the porch in the morning, just love the whole feel of the front porch with the swings, chairs, tables, etc. We stayed in the motel which is just behind the main hotel (because they did not have any rooms available for 4 in the hotel for the night we stayed) - the motel was nice ,clean, comfortable. However, next time we would love to stay in the actual hotel as we hear each room has a lot of charm and character. The staff was wonderful - excellent service during our entire stay. The other huge plus was there are many gorgeous waterfalls and short hiking trails within a short walking distance from the hotel on the Rogue River. Also loved the surrounding grounds next to the hotel, huge grassy area for kids to play (we also played horse-shoes!). The pizza place down the road is decent as well (we had dinner there). Would definitely recommend this place, especially if heading up to explore Crater Lake.

Beautiful room but wallpaper much too flowery. Shower door leaked. Would've been nice to have Wi-Fi. TV downstairs wasn't working.
5 on August 23, 2016
The hotel staff are friendly and so connected with things to do and see in the area. We took their advice and not only did Crater Lake, we hit waterfalls, natural bridges, and the Rogue Gorge. None disappointed! Homemade cookies each evening in the room? Yes. Comfortable beds and a sense of home while off the grid. The included breakfast is unbelievable! We have already recommended it to friends. You are treated like a important guest at every turn.

A cozy and welcoming hotel in the Rogue River area, we really enjoyed our stay. The breakfasts were delicious and enough to fill us for the day! Excellent dinners too in a relaxing atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location convenient to crater lake and for exploring the gorges, waterfalls, and trails in the area.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. The staff is so nice and accommodating! We had dinner at the restaurant, which wasn't super impressive. However, breakfast was amazing!! The grounds are beautiful and there is so much to do! Grab a book and hit the porch with a glass of wine or head out to the horse shoe pits and BBQ. There's also a vast amount of lawn where my husband and I spent the afternoon just relaxing in the shade. We will stay here again. Please be mindful that this is a historic hotel, and the decor is old...our bed was slightly noisy and uncomfortable (mostly because I am narrowing in on my third trimester and the temp was 100+ during our stay). I highly recommend the prospect inn.

We stayed at the Prospect Historic Hotel on a trip through Oregon. The hotel was a quiet place to stay. The beds were comfortable. As you would expect with an old hotel, the rooms were small and the closets minimal. But room size is not why you choose a hotel like this. Sitting on the front porch reading was a great way to end the day. The restaurant was very good. We returned for dinner our second night.

We stayed here en route to Crater Lake. Please note that this is a combination B&B / motel. We stayed in the motel section, which was clean but exactly like a budget motel - about what you would expect from a well-maintained Red Roof Inn. They have a nice front porch on the B&B and a good but pricey restaurant.

Fantastic little BNB. Very convenient to the park. We were headed south from Portland and on to California on our trip and this stop was super convenient, better than I had expected. The town isn't much to look at , so plan to enjoy the hotel and restaurant only. Service was great and the food exceptional. Beware there is no elevator in case you're traveling with someone who has difficulty with stairs.

My wife and I, after living in the Pacific NW all our lives, decided to check Crater Lake off of our bucket list. What we realized after our stay was that everyone needs to check the Prospect Hotel off of their bucket list! Clean rooms, great rates and pet friendly, our two Jack Russell's felt like guests as well. Doggy pads under the vanity and a doggy sheet for the bed. And doggy treats from the front desk! I walked them the short distance to Pearsony Falls. The next two mornings they walked ME to the falls. We had breakfast in the Hotel, best biscuits and gravy, EVER! Another consideration is you are a couple of blocks from the community grocery store and gas station in an area where it is not uncommon to drive 20 miles for these services. The history of the Hotel was alluring but the service and amenities...that was what makes us want to come back. Russ & Darlene, Kent

The good: Wonderful, friendly, personalized service. The bad: It's a creaky old house with less-than-great insulation; if any of your neighbors, above or to the side, wake up at 7, you probably will too, like it or not.

We couldn't get reservations at the Lodge at Crater Lake, but staying in Prospect was actually better. It was less crowded (i.e. not crowded at all, but the lodge was crazy), quiet, relaxed, and very pleasant. There were also lovely walks right from our doorstep. If I were to do it again, I'd avoid the lodge and stay here. What a treat!

Warm, cozy, and inviting. The parlor was very enjoyable, for having coffee, a glass of wine, or a chat with other travelers. Loved sitting on the front porch intending to read, but really just watched what happened in this little town and listened to the birds. If you stay there -- and you should -- be sure to plan to have dinner there, too. Very nicely done.

We had a great experience at the Prospect B&B. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food is good. There's a wrap around porch where you can sit in the afternoon. There are a couple of waterfalls a few minutes walk from the property, some walking trails and it's about a 20 minute drive to Crater Lake. I must warn you, though, the double size rooms are VERY small. There are no closets and not much space to store clothes or luggage. If you need more room, I might suggest the motel in the back (but then you kind of miss out on the B&B experience). Overall, we were pleased and would go back.

The location is convenient for visiting Crater Lake NP, as well as other wilderness areas. Good hiking, wonderful scenery. We took advantage of the wonderful dining room for made from scratch dinners. Food is very good and service is leisurely. We will return. Staff are all very helpful.

Beautiful location with tons of waterfalls and quick, easy hikes. Heads up though- I wasn't aware that the Roosevelt room I reserved didn't have a bathroom in the room. My wife and I stayed at the inn over the Thanksgiving holiday. We stayed in the motel section, so I cannot speak to the quality of the rooms in the hotel. The motel rooms were small but clean and provided appropriate arrangements/utilities. The food at the dining house is excellent, and we recommend dining with them for Thanksgiving, as they provide a special all-you-can-eat buffet for the occasion. Honestly, it was the best Thanksgiving feast I've ever had, although it was a bit expensive, as was the breakfast we had there the following morning. The surrounding area is also very beautiful, nestled right beside Oregon's Rogue River/Klamath wildernesses. Several waterfalls are just a 10-15 minute walk from the inn, and they are definitely worth the time, including the 242 ft. Barr Falls. Our personally favorite, however, was the smaller Mills Creek Falls. Overall, the inn exceeded our expectations, and we found the management, staff, and other guests to be very friendly. We also had time to talk with several locals, all of whom were nice, accommodating, and helpful. The surrounding natural area is definitely worth the trip as well, only a 45 minute drive (more in winter though, as road conditions can get dicey) from Crater Lake and the lesser-known Diamond Lake. And other little gems are to be found too, like the nearby Prospect Cafe and Trophy Room. If you are a hiking or nature enthusiast, or if only looking for a quite, secluded weekend getaway off the "beaten path," we highly recommend.

My mother and I had a great overnight stay in the Teddy Roosevelt Room. The place is historic, and so the rooms are understandably small. However, all the rooms and the common spaces are well outfitted with some very cool antique furniture. Breakfast was delicious (lots more options than I am used to when staying in a B&B), and Marilyn did such a great job getting everyone fed and caffeinated, even without a waitress to help her. The drive to crater lake was beautiful, didn't seem to take long at all.

My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised to find such a charming bed and breakfast en route to Crater Lake. The rooms reminded one of staying in a hotel in the late 1800s but with amenities. The breakfast and dinner meals were delicious. All of the staff were very friendly. I would love to stay here again.

A very welcoming place. One of the owners gave us with a detailed description and map of the grounds, local waterfalls, and other attractions, and all the other desk and dining staff were excellent as well, always smiling and happy to help. We stayed in the motel and were happy to have the minifridge and microwave on hand. The location is great: walking distance to the aforementioned waterfalls, as well as the local store and gas station, and an easy driving distance from Crater Lake. We ate at their restaurant both nights and found to the food to be tasty and well-priced. We appreciated how dog-friendly they are, too. Upon check-in we were given treats and scoopers, and housekeeping had already taken care of laying down a pet sheet over the bed and a pet towel for the floor. The only complaint we had was that our bed was very uncomfortable, full of hard lumps that disrupted our sleep. I don't know if that issue may be only in motel rooms, though. Our next trip is going to be dog-free so we can explore more of Crater Lake, and we liked everything else about this place so much that we're certainly willing to come back and try one of the B&B rooms.

Stayed there 12 years ago also. Very nice place. The hotel rooms are just that, a hotel. The B&B rooms are in the historic building. The grounds are fabulous, the hospitality is unmatched, and the historic location is great. While we were there many wildfires in the national forest around Prospect were going on. The hotel fed the fire fighters at night on the grounds. It was wonderful.

Stayed for a few nights in August during a Crater Lake visit. The staff is so friendly and very welcoming, full of great information about the local area. I stayed in the motel part as my dog with me, and the room was set up with some nice touches for him: pet sheet on the bed and a mat on the floor for his food and water bowls, treats at check in and every time he was seen. The porch on the property is very cozy and the food is excellent.

My wife and I stayed two nights in July 2015 at this gem so we could tour Crater Lake. It is a peaceful and quiet place and was a great place to stage our adventure to Crater Lake. The onsite dining is terrific: great food and friendly staff. We stayed in the Pearson Room which has an en suite bathroom. The room was very clean and the bathroom small but adequate. We were travelling by car for two weeks so we had lots of luggage, etc. The room was large enough for all our "stuff" and we didn't feel cramped. We truly enjoyed the cool mornings with coffee on the big front porch. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again.

I chose the Prospect Historic Hotel & Dinner House as a better choice for an overnight stay with my grandson during a visit to Crater Lake, despite the 30 minute drive from and to the park each day. Check-in was a bit laborious but friendly. We were given a room in one of the motel-like units behind the main hotel. (There are rooms in the main building that would be nice to consider. there is also an inviting wrap-around porch for relaxing/reading/conversation/cocktails.) The room was dark with the curtains drawn, and they stayed that way while my young traveling companion recovered overnight from a ferocious sinus head cold/headache. The room was poorly lighted and awkwardly furnished, but the beds were comfortable enough; the pillows were less so. (I bring my own, hard enough to keep my head in a comfortable position and avoid an AM stiff neck.) The dining room is pleasant, with a pretty standard menu. I ordered roast beef, a house specialty. I took a plate of salmon back to the room for my grandson's dinner. My server was very helpful in scheduling his order to arrive when I was ready to go. The full bar served small cocktails, but well-made. Breakfast was good, too, with a nice menu, an array of breakfast meat choices, eggs and pancakes. Overall, a pleasant stay in an old establishment more recently reclaimed and restored; still, with more resources, it could be even better.

I stayed for a night at the WJB room. It was the smallest of the rooms. I would get the Pearson room next time. Would definitely consider staying again.

This is such a great gem in Oregon that I almost don't want to advertise it and keep it to myself but that would be wrong. The hotel is a wonderful restored old hotel that has been greeting travelers since 1888. It was clean and charming and we felt relaxed. The staff was friendly and the service was great. The large property also offers motel rooms in back and plenty of room for vehicles and something I thought was awesome, a stable and place for horses! Literally a block away is a hiking trail to Prospect state park with some wonderful waterfalls. The town of Prospect is an interesting place but really has nothing much to do. The local bar/watering hole is shut down and out of business so that leaves one pizza place open till Eight after that there is no nightlife to speak of. If you like quiet small towns, then Prospect is the place. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!
5 on April 06, 2015
What a beautiful place to stay! The town of Prospect is very quaint, I was able to meet a lot of the locals during my stay that shared with me the great things I should go out and do while visiting. Fred and Karen were super helpful in providing the area attractions and must see's. There are several waterfall hikes right next to the hotel. And the local market / gas station is pretty much next door. The town shuts down at 8pm, but honestly after hiking and sight seeing all day, I was ready to relax at that time anyways. I hung out in the parlor with a glass of wine and played card games, watched a movie and engaged in some much needed R&R. One of the best parts was the service received at breakfast. Carl made my breakfast everyday from scratch. I got to chose my breakfast time and it was ready within minutes of me coming downstairs. Carl knew I was doing quite a bit of hiking so he sent me out the door with some fresh baked cookies each day. I really felt like I was staying with family the entire time. I have already recommended the place and will definitely be coming back in the summer when more hiking opens up. Don't forget to stop by and see the owner at the Prospect Pizza Parlor. It's open from 3-8pm. He knows where the good trails to hike are in the area along the river. HINT: If you need WiFi access during your stay, you will have a good signal in the Parlor at the B&B. The Pizza Parlor will also provide you with access if requested.

Because we had a long drive ahead of us Karl in the kitchen made us an early breakfast and was very cheerful about it. I would love to have had the evening meal there but it was booked for a party. Choose PHH because we could not get into Crater Lake Lodge and this was the closest location. Very convenient at 34 miles from the park. Lovely property and grounds. Friendly and very helpful staff. Food was OK. Carrot cake was the best. Room was rather small. Would have preferred pictures and descriptions of the rooms on the website as I might have chosen something else. A little pricey given the size of the room even though breakfast was included. However I guess that was to be expected since PHH is the closest lodging to the park. I would have paid more for a larger room. Also they need to supply hair dryers - thankfully I brought mine.

This charming establishment was the perfect place for our last night visiting Crater Lake and a welcome respite after the tiny "cabins" offered within the park. We appreciated the historic information and the framed photos of prior proprietors and local influences which covered on our walls in the main house private bedrooms. The dining experience was quite nice and allowed my parents and husband and I to linger over a lovely meal before retiring to the veranda for cards and wine - both of which we had brought with us. I recommend it as a special treat for anyone looking to unwind and have a peaceful evening.

Our stay at the Prospect Historic Hotel exceeded my expectations. We were greeted warmly by the owner, who provided an extensive overview of the town, nearby attractions and information on Crater Lake. He had some great tips of things to stop and see on our way to and from the lake, and shared some history of Prospect. We stayed in the Hotel part of the B&B, and our room was bigger than expected and had a full bath en suite. We got a reservation for dinner at the dinnerhouse and enjoyed very large and delicious portions of food. Breakfast was also very hearty and tasty. The atmosphere is very fun, and it takes you back in time a bit. Its about 45 minutes from Crater Lake, but, unless you get a room at the Lodge, is one of the best accommodation options for visiting the lake. I would definitely recommend!

The staff were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout our 2-night stay. The rooms were very clean and spacious and well worth the cost. Dinner was OK. Short hikes to nearby waterfalls (there are three of them), proximity to Crater Lake and the Rogue River gorge made it an excellent choice for us. The nearby store with gas pumps complete the picture. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone.

If you are not in the house, the rest of the motel is like any other old motel. Nothing special. The room was just fine, clean and comfortable but nothing to suggest historic.
3.6 on September 11, 2014
Staff courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. Room with private bath was small, however, it is a historic hotel and that includes small rooms. A full sit-down breakfast included, which was nice. French toast with berry compote very tasty. Prime rib on the dinner menu only adequate at best. Will make a different selection if we are there again. Small community and the only other dinner option offered close by was pizza. This is a lovely hotel with a wonderful wrap-around porch and swing. Nature trail to the falls is close by and an easy walk. We found this hotel comfortable and peaceful, and the location is beautiful!

We stopped by on our way up to Portland from SF. Staff were very welcoming, gave us maps to nearby trails and waterfall walks. We stayed in the motel part out back which was absolutely fine and there weren't many guests that night so it was quiet. Dining room offered decent menu and food was good. It was not busy being mid week so the room was a bit quiet which lacked some ambience but that is a small point that is no one fault. Overall I would recommend for a 1/2 night stay

We got a motel room with a side room with 2 twin beds for our kids, was great, clean and simple, kitchenette worked well, we spent days at Lake and came here to sleep. The main house is cool and old, maintained well.

Hotel is located in quaint little town, close to Crater Lake. The hotel is very historical. We did not eat at the hotel, but found a pizza shop down the road. If you are looking for luxury this is not the place or the town for you to travel to.

Good place to stay. We were in the hotel section for two nights. Our major complaint was the lack of choices in the dining room and the cost of those choices. It is a small town so minimal alternatives for dining unless you leave the area. We had a kitchenette in our room, which was great. It would be nice if ghey removed the non working refridgerator and put the small one in it's place instead of keeping it on top of the TV stand. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Bed was firm and room was clean- based on appropriate expectations knowing it was an older motel. Dining was very over priced. Information sounded like dining was wonderful and reservation was needed and we rushed for our time slot and we were the only people there. Menu didn't include all the items that were on the online menu. No cribs available for young children.
We are sorry that this guest did not like their stay as much as most guests do. They didn't stay in the B&B, they stayed in our Motel which is on the same property. I am glad that they found our rooms to be clean. We are proud of our cleanliness ratings. They unfortunately did not ask or request a crib for their young child when they made their reservation request. In fact the reservation did NOT mention the addition of the 5th person (all though a small one!)when they reserved a room for 4 people. When they arrived we did offer a futon pad for the little one (as we did not have a crib available) which they refused, twice. Menus change frequently and unfortunately this guest did not accept a current one when it was offered upon check in. Apparently they missed the one that is posted outside the main door of the restaurant. As one can see from our other reviews Most Guests LOVE our food. While it is not priced like fast food, it is not over priced. Our Signature meal is Prime Rib and a Petite Cut was just $25. We are told all the time that it is the best they have had! Perhaps this family would have been better off eating at the Local Pizza joint (which we offered) as it may have been more appropriate for a family of five with small children rather then a Fine Dining establishment. Again we are sorry that we didn't fulfill there needs as we would have liked.

This was a real little gem after the usual motels. Lovely, though somewhat small, rooms. The veranda was a peaceful place to spend a hot evening after a long walk along the Rogue River during the day. Appreciated access to the fridge in the parlour. Breakfasts were excellent and we enjoyed our evening meal despite the somewhat scatty waitress!! Would recommend without hesitation.

They had added al la carte items to their breakfast menu, which their cook was not able ready for or was not capable of handling. First morning we waited almost an hour for breakfast. Second morning was much better. Food was very good.

We found the Prospect Hotel a very nice place to stay and have dinner while visiting Crater Lake National Park. The park lodges were full, so we were pleased to find a convenient option for an overnight stay. We were in the motel portion, and found it to be quite suitable for our family needs. It was very convenient to walk over for an excellent dinner in the main house, and the staff was very accommodating for our young daughters. We definitely recommend it if you're staying in the area.

We stayed in the main house. You could not find a more quaint, proximate (to Crater Lake and other wonderful hikes), or more helpful staff. But our room was quite small, with a toilet/bath closet that was tiny, as you might expect in an historic hotel. But the bed was very uncomfortable and could easily be upgraded to meet basic standards for the cost. We rolled into the center and were afraid to move it creaked so badly. The sitting room also could use an upgrade, particularly since there was no place to sit in our room. The lovely porch is great for hanging out, but it gets cool after dark, so the seating and decorations inside could be improved.

I really enjoyed the Prospect Historic Hotel, a beautiful place with great people. But it is not well organised. We heard to many times: I'm sorry Sorry for the wrong room, sorry for no more deserts after dinner, sorry for waiting more than an our for breakfast. Good thing is: I would come back and will tell my friends to go there. (Just be not impatient)
2.4 on August 18, 2014
Food was too expensive and dinner house service very uneven. Must have only had one cook and he couldn't keep up with the orders. We waited quite some time for service and one couple who came in before us were served a long time after we were.
4.6 on August 18, 2014
We were delighted with the Prospect Historic Hotel. A super friendly and helpful staff. The hotel was very quaint and homey. Our room in the original hotel building was small but very comfortable and extremely clean as was the entire hotel. We enjoyed sitting out on the hotel front porch in the evening. We would certainly go back for another stay if we were in the area again. An excellent alternative to the Crater Lake Lodge!
4.2 on August 17, 2014
We stayed in the motel portion of the hotel -- the room was clean and generously stocked with toiletries; the only downside was one pillow per person and no hair dryer in the room. The staff was warm and helpful; the verandah on the hotel was large and welcoming and a nice place to winde down the day; down the street was an excellent pizza parlor (don't judge by appearances); and just up the road are beautiful hikes to waterfalls and a unique "avenue of boulders." This is absolutely a wonderful alternative to the hustle and bustle of staying at Crater Lake in their hotel or the cabins and was a highlight of our west coast trip.

3.0 on August 09, 2014
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Since we arrived a little early, we were able to take a self-guided tour of the rooms in the main house which were gorgeous. We ended up staying in the hotel rooms in the back since there were 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids). I would say the rooms were ok, not great. If it was just my husband and I, I know we would have stayed in main house and probably enjoyed it a bit more. The dining room for dinner was also gorgeous and the staff friendly but I think the food was a little overpriced . We did enjoy a game of horseshoes out back and the local hikes are spectacular.
4.6 on August 06, 2014
I stayed at the Prospect Motel for business. The staff were all pleasant and friendly and the rooms were nicely accomodated. The value for a regular room was a bit more than I'm used to for something of similar accomodation, however the beautiul remote location made it all worthwhile. I did not have dinner in the restaurant, but I heard it's fabulous. Our party did have breakfast before we departed. The food was good. There was only one waitress working that morning and there appeared to be more diners than she could handle. But she had a great attitude and made it an enjoyable breakfast when it certainly could have been a catastrophe had she let her demeanor get the better of her. I would certainly stay there again!!

We stayed in the motel during our visit. Our room was clean, and the towels were very soft. The main house was very charming, with a wrap around covered porch that offered plenty of comfortable seating. We ate dinner there on both nights and the food was amazing! The property is beautiful and very soothing with the sound of the creek flowing right by. The nearby waterfalls are a nice setting for an easy little hike through a lovely wooded area.
4.8 on August 02, 2014
We stayed two nights in July 2014 after driving in from the coast. It was 102 degrees in Grants Pass, so we were pleasantly surprised (and relieved) to find the Prospect air conditioned. We loved the quiet town, the large porch and beautiful grounds. The woman who checked us in gave on spot-on recommendations for short walks and sights in the area. Our room was small by modern standards, but it had everything we needed. It was super clean and efficient. Each afternoon fresh, homemade cookies were left for us on the dresser and they were delicious! We weren't around for dinner, but had breakfast there both mornings and it was fantastic. We were glad it was included in the price because there are no other options around town AND it was delicious. The wait staff was excellent. My husband commented that the young woman who waited on us was the best waitress he has ever encounter. And I agree. She was sweet and attentive. She seemed to be running our side of the restaurant all by herself - and doing it really well. The only downside for us was having the a/c click off in the middle of the night- that made the room too warm, so we opened the window and that was fine. (Keep in mind it had been in the low 90's during the day.) Our room was above the kitchen/dining room, so there was some noise in the early morning as they got moving. All in all, this is a great place. We loved the history of it, the time and effort to preserve it and the hard work this staff puts into keeping it going. We will visit again, and we'll also recommend the Prospect to others. We wish them continued success.

Historic means old, so there is some cool history to this inn and architecture but don't expect everything to be perfect. Plumbing is old, HVAC is spotty, floors creak, walls are thin, and beds can be tough. Those are rather minor blips to us. The staff is quite pleasant and charming! Very helpful. The inn was spotless, super clean. Great grounds and landscaping, nice porch and common area. Loved the historic pictures throughout the inn. I wouldn't recommend dinner. That would be the only drawback. We were one of three tables eating and we didn't get served until 15 min later. I should have said something. The food was okay. Just bothered by the lack of attention and service we had when we were seated. We'd DEFINATELY go back, just skip dinner next time. Breakfast was fine. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

This historic hotel was a pleasant surprise. We booked our stay here knowing only it's proximity to Crater Lake. Not much doing in Prospect, but the Prospect Historic Hotel-Motel and Dinner House (you cannot get much more inclusive than that) is a convenient and pleasant stop over if you are heading to Crater Lake from the south. It's clean, has a very friendly staff and reasonable food.

Motel room appeared to be recently update, the rooms was small but very comfortable and had a small fridge and microwave. The grounds very we maintained. We had a nice breakfast early in the morning and then were off to Crater Lake. Great hiking within walking distance to the Hotel.

Our stay here was so pleasant, quiet and romantic, it was all that I could have asked for and more. We sat on the front porch until we were tired in the evening, had the most fantastic dinner (I highly recommend the chicken with the tobasco and molasses sauce) and then a quiet night. Breakfast was outstanding with hazelnut and berry pancakes. I would go back again tomorrow if I had enough time off work just because of the teeny town and friendly atmosphere. This time I will take my dog. He would love laying on that front porch as well. Be sure and tell the staff where you are going during the day because they will provide you with recommendations that will take you off the beaten tourist spot track and you will see natural wonders you had no idea you were near. I can't wait to go back again!

Stayed in the newer section. Nothing special about the rooms. But the ambiance of the location, the huge front porch with chairs and love seats, the dinner house (where we ate both dinner and breakfast) we all Outstanding. And, we were able to take a glass of wine out to the porch after dinner, sit and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. VERY different from your standard hotel/motel. Loved it and we hope to return again.

Pros: Property is nice and historic Relatively close to Crater Lake and State Parks Owners are very nice Cons: Staff is untrained and not always professional (mixed up rooms, waiting staff not very responsive or knowledgeable) Bed was extremely uncomfortable I really wanted to like this hotel, but in the end it was not a great stay.

We found this inn via Tripadvisor. The inn is nice and quitly located in a small Southern Oregon town close to a creek and local waterfalls. The service at the reception was exceptional guiding us to local attractions and just plain friendly. The room (in the motel-section). The room was larger than expected. Nothing luxurious and especially the aircon could need an update. OK, but nothing fancy. The restaurant is "old style" local inn, with a personal touch of service, and an OK meal, but nothing special. All in all an OK place especially compared to the reasonable pricing and the warm service.

Our group of four were planning to arrive late and just use the motel for an overnight stay. We found the customer service to very good. The counter lady was very helpful in giving us ideas on excursions for the day and provided us a map to help guide us. We did not get a chance to try the food however. We did not stay in the bed and breakfast area. There is a separate building for people who just require a bed and bath. The room included a small fridge and a/c. If you planning to go to Crater Lake, I would recommend staying for two nights because you could spend an entire day there; two days if you really wanted to see everything.

Highlights of this lovely place - great restaurant for breakfasts and dinners - well worth booking a meal there. Wonderful location for Crater Lake National Park. Beds were comfy and everything clean. Limitations - the motel rooms could use an update. Clunky 'kitchen' space and the sink and mirror being outside the shower/toilet area means that a two roomed unit doesn't really provide 2 couples the privacy they need.
3.4 on July 14, 2014
We stayed in the motel section here as the cabins at Union Creek were full. But we have no regrets. The extra driving from Crater Lake is not so much and we probably had a few more comforts, including TV. The staff here were friendly and helpful and the room very well kept and presented. Our only complaint was that the wi-fi was unreliable and impossible to access in our room. But we simply went and sat on the big veranda of the main Hotel and did everything we needed to do on-line there, which was quite pleasant. Recommended. Note that we didn't dine here but must give a rating, so 3 stars is neutral, as we don't know either way.

4.2 on July 13, 2014
We enjoyed 2 nights on the Record Suite with our daughters while visiting Crater Lake. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. It is on the third floor and was very warm, however. The central air doesn't do much to cool that floor and the window ac doesn't seem powerful enough for the space. It was turned off when we arrived and it took almost 24 hours of running in constantly to get the room comfortable. It would be helpful if the AC were turned on before guests arrive on hot days. I would still stay there again though! Everyone was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious! There is a set menu for the weekdays and on weekends you can also choose from a more extensive breakfast menu. A beautiful historic property and nice place to stay!

Our 2 day stay at Prospect was very nice. Since it was over July 4th we were unable to stay in the B&B but we enjoyed the motel room that we stayed in. It was very clean and comfortable. We visited Crater Lake and other scenic attractions during our stay.

I was greeted at the front desk by a delightful woman, (Margo?) who was most helpful and taught me about places to visit enroute to Crater Lake. I spent 2 nights there and had 2 dinners. No breakfasts as They contained gluten (breakfast was an extra charge). Had a kitchenette, however, and happily made my own breakfast, thank you. Dinner was actually quite lovely, just a bit pricy, also only game in town. Literally, I suspect. Other people in the restaurant were celebrating birthdays. Romm was quite nice, with a Queen bed, comfy, reasonable space, good lighting, clean and neat. I will return here next tiime i'm in the area (ASAP, I hope!!) and have recommended this place to others.

We will return again soon perhaps in the Fall of the year.

El único inconveniente que pondría, es que al hacer la reserva no queda claro si el desayuno entra en el precio de la habitación o no. A nosotros nos lo cobraron aparte, y además de una forma poco amable Only inconvenient that would, is that when making the reservation is not clear if the breakfast enters the room rate or not. Took us apart, and besides a unkind way

The welcoming hospitality at this charming hotel made a very pleasant stay. Not being familiar with the area, I was concerned we'd have a lack of things to do during our visit. However, the front desk staff was very informative about multiple ideas for places to visit. We took their suggestions and saw several waterfalls, walked along a paved trail on the wild Rogue river, ate delicious pie at Beckie's Cafe, and drove to Eagle Point to visit a fascinating operational 1800's flour mill. I definitely recommend having dinner at the hotel for at least one night. The food is hearty and tasty. The big wrap-around porch has lots of comfortable seating and even a porch swing. Our room (in the main hotel) was small and the bed was not the most comfortable. Also the walls are thin, but all of this is a small price to pay for the experience of staying in an old and charming hotel that dates back to the days when stagecoaches stopped here. There is even a stagecoach parked in the front lawn!
3.8 on June 20, 2014
We stayed here primarily because of the 'pet friendly' motel units, the historic aspects of the hotel, and the dinner house. The motel units were nicer than I had expected, given that they were pet friendly-a big 'dog blanket' came with the room. There was a 2 burner stovetop, a small fridge, full size coffee pot, and microwave. Most are in a quiet area behind the hotel. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL with lots of quiet areas next to the bubbling stream, and lovely waterfalls within walking distance. The food was very very good, and we were there on a Sunday evening early in the season. I definitely recommend it! The great big porch couldn't be more welcoming to all guests-there's plenty of room for watching the world go by on a lazy afternoon.

The staff was friendly and helpful, this is definitely a great place to relax away from the crowds in the park itself. One tip: since the cafe is currently closed, the dining options in Prospect are very limited. There is pizza or dinner at the hotel, so plan accordingly.

We stayed in the motel portion that had basic rooms in a quiet location. The rooms were very clean and the grounds were beautifully landscaped with a wonderful hiking trail near. The people were very kind and courteous and they welcomed my dog. Great value for a weekend get away. My only complaint was that there was a large group already there so for breakfast we felt a little lack of attention. Our table wasn't completely set, chairs were missing, and I had to keep getting up to find napkins, salt etc. Although our waitress was very sweet and doing her best with the large crowd we left feeling like we were a bit of an after thought. Despite that experience I would still go back and I do recommend the hotel.

Although we stayed in the motel and not the Inn, we found the entire property to be very well kept, charming, and the Wickman's to be good hosts. Our stay took place in mid April. The motel units with the cooking area was helpful with the dining room and many businesses closed that time of the year. It was a little tight with 3 adults but the beautiful property made up for the lack of indoor space. Wished we would have had more time there. We'd go back again.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our first day, we were shown a map of the trails around the area and explored waterfall after waterfall!! The location is amazing! It's just a quick drive to Crater Lake. We stayed in the B&B the first night and then in the motel the second two nights. Both were wonderful :)

We stayed at the charming Prospect Hotel in Early October 2013. We had hoped to see Crater Lake but the government shutdown led to an alternative. The Hotel is well run by friendly owners and staff who were very helpful with other local attractions. There are several beautiful waterfalls within hiking distance of the hotel and 30 or more within easy driving distance. Due to the shutdown there were not many other patrons. The restaurant for dinner is the best choice in town but don't expect gourmet. The breakfasts were superb!

We stayed in the Motel, in back of the Hotel. The room and service were fine. It's the locations to the walks and falls, and the lack of two dozen people around that make this a great place to visit. Enjoyed the horseshoes game and grill on the side on the property. The motel rooms could use updating and having milk or half and half available for coffee or hot chocolate would be nice. This is a three-star motel.

The dining room is attractive and a welcome sight after driving through rural country. My prime rib was mediocre, however. We stayed in the motel-type rooms in the rear; nothing special, but fairly inexpensive. Very helpful staff when we arrived - gave lots of tips for what to do in the area. I also liked the fact that the hotel had so much history. We stayed in a motel room with a kitchenette but the kitchenette facilities were quite limited when we actually got down to cooking a meal. We also had one dinner in the hotel - which was very tasty.

Our stay at the Prospect Hotel was a surprise, in a good way! The rooms were comfortable, and the grounds are well cared for and spacious. While our dinner was not what we expected, we did learn there was an issue with staff. But all in all, this was a good stay. I would recommend this hotel!

I have mixed feelings about this B&B. First, the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The food is decent in the dinner house, where we had both dinner and breakfast. But the place itself could do with a bit of a makeover. Rooms are small, bath is adequate and it is certainly not the most comfortable B&B we’ve stayed in. But we were glad to be close to Crater Lake because it snowed the first day we visited and we were able to return the next day for good weather and clear views.

We loved this place, it's nice, serene, clean and staff is wonderful! Our dinner was scrumptious...we would love to stay at this quaint and historical place again.

Very nice - clean and esp roomy bathroom since it is designed to accommodate wheelchairs. But the room with the two twin beds are really best for children. I am 5'4" and my feet were hanging off the edge. Walls are thin, so bring earplugs. Had to go to the lobby to use the wi-fi. Very nice otherwise. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was good, though overpriced in my opinion. I would stay here again.

We were going to Crater Lake and wanted a place to stay near there, so we didn't have as far to drive on the day we went. I stumbled on this Hotel on the internet, and decided by what was written, that it was worth trying out. The staff was friendly, helpful and gracious, making us feel welcome and handling the fact that we were a bit late for our check in, and our reservation for dinner with aplomb. Our stay was short, but quite pleasant, and it made us have only a short drive into Crater Lake, letting us have more time there the following day. So if you are in the neighborhood and need a place to stay, we stayed in the motel out back but were very happy with our accommodations.

We stayed here for our trip to Crater Lake. This small little place is located near the quiet woods with waterfall and good hiking spots. Rooms were very clean and so was the kitchenette. The staff was wondeful. Overall very good experience, will definitely stay again.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Walking to a nearby waterfall was especially enjoyable after a day of driving. Very relaxing B&B

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Prospect. The rooms we stayed in were more than comfortable, and suited us nicely. We had dinner in the restaurant one night, and were somewhat disappointed, but learned that some of the wait staff and cooks had quit unexpectedly, which may have affected our overall experience. Our visit to Crater Lake and the surrounding area was most enjoyable. But most importantly, we travelled with good friends, and that made the whole stay extra special.

We had one of the simple motel rooms behind the main building which was large and very clean. Was perfect for our one night stay. The food was tasty and the breakfast delicious. Sunny on the front desk was incredibly helpful and kind and went out of her way to find a lost camera charger and mail it on to us.

We stayed at the Historic Prospect Hotel while spending time in Crater Lake Nat'l. Park. The owners and their staff are very friendly and willing to work to make your stay as positive as possible. The food was very good. Hospitality was great! We were really glad we found the hotel for our place to stay while visiting the Park. And we saw the Rogue River Gorge we would not have seen had we not be staying at the Hotel. Would stay there again if we were wanting to spend more time in southern Oregon.

Great room, bad Internet - kept going on and off, mostly off, and so-so dinner. Would totally stay there again but skip the restaurant

The previous reviewers were spot on...this beautiful B & B exceeded our expectations in every way. Spotlessly clean, delicious dinner and breakfast and the hotel staff were very attentive and friendly. We stayed in the Dewey Hill room and loved the comfortable bed and the fresh air coming in through the window. We would love to visit again; maybe try it in the winter.

Quaint and charming, relaxing locale. Very clean. Staff extremely helpful especially with Crater Lake and local sites. Nice to have access to high-speed internet especially in such a remote location. 2nd floor room was noisy (over kitchen) and very hot/stuffy at night. Because it cooled off at night the central air didn't kick on. Did open a window but because of window design not much cool air came in. Ceiling fan or table fan would help with circulation. Food was good but service at dinner was subpar. Wait staff needs someone to assist with busing tables (taking drink orders, serving bread, clearing plates, refilling drinks etc.) Would recommend and stay again.

This was our first visit to this hotel and we were treated very well. Upon arrival we were treated with some history of the hotel and directions to sites near by to visit. You can see that the owners as well as employees are proud to be part of the hotel. The dinner house was wonderful good food, aged atmosphere and prices were right on point. I recommend this hotel to everyone you will be amazed. Robert and Sharon Edgar Bakersfield, California

We stayed in the motel part of this establishment. The web site indicated that we would have WIFI in our room, but it did not work. We asked them to fix the WIFI multiple times during our stay and they kept saying the owner would have to do it. Apparently the owner does not want to be bothered on the weekend because the WIFI was never fixed. When we complained again the person behind the desk responded like we were expecting too much - we were told we should just come up tot he main house to use WIFI. Not very convenient. When I asked if I could get coffee in the lobby I was informed that I have a coffee maker in my motel room. Overall the staff was not friendly or helpful. We will not be going back. It's too bad because the facility is very nice and it could be a pleasant place to stay under different management.

We stayed in the Boothby room for two nights. Love the historical background of the Prospect Hotel and the service was excellent. We were given lots of tips on what to see at Crater Lake (our destination for the day!) and where to visit in the Prospect area. All of the beautiful quilts gave it a warm and comfortable country touch!

I brought an exchange student from Germany to stay at Prospect Historic Hotel so we could see all the sights in and around Crater Lake, but never expected there to be so many sights right around our hotel too! It was awesome! We loved the waterfalls, but our favorite was the Avenue of Giant Boulders that led to Mill Creek. It was a great little hike and so refreshing to be near the water too. We never did eat dinner at the hotel, Just the yummy breakfast each day. We instead, ate at the little Prospect Pizza place just down the street, which was really good too. People are so friendly in this small, quaint little town. The service at the hotel was awesome! They even brought drinks out to us on the front sitting porch! The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a shower head with a hose, most hotels I've stayed in don't have that. Prospect Historic Hotel has a very home-like feel to it and I would recommend it to anyone! Stay! You'll be glad you did!
3.6 on August 23, 2013
We stayed in the motel part of the area and found it clean but old and not that comfortable. More like a well used Motel 6. The food in the dining room was fantastic and the old hotel itself seemed like a wonderful place.

We stayed at 'Prospect' as an ideal location before our visit to Crater Lake. The hotel was in a quiet location on a Sunday evening but it did become noisier on the Monday morning with increased traffic. It was an interesting building with plenty of old world charm. The room was comfortable although very small and it appeared smaller than the website photo depicted. It had been a ho day and it was great to be able to open the windows at night, a good night's sleep. The staff were helpful, maybe a bit overly helpful but they were obviously very keen to promote the hotel and the local area. It was really restful sitting out on the front porch in the early evening. We ate dinner at the hotel which provided some good food although compared with other restaurants on our trip to California and Oregon I would say that it was over priced. There was a very limited choice of desserts. Breakfast was good, served in a quiet and relaxing environment and more than sufficient to set you up for the day. I would recommend this hotel if you want something that is a bit different to the norm.
5 on August 22, 2013
This was a wonderful town experience all around. Everyone was so friendly at the hotel and the maps and information we got from them made the rest of our trip great as well. Go visit the waterfalls right near the hotel if you go to Prospect. They are worth the small hike. Gorgeous!

My wife and 2 little girls stayed in #14 in the back motel section. Rooms were clean, but a little dated, which didn't really bother us at all. The kids didn't understand how you couldn't "pause" the TV! We played a little horseshoes just outside the room, and meandered over to the horse stall to feed them some apples. Breakfast was outstanding, and the chef was kind enough to give the kids a couple of cookies each for the hike around the lake later that day. Dinner was very good, more food than we could ask for, My wife and I had the Lasagne which was a massive serving, and kids had a quite fancy mac and cheese. The service all around was very helpful and friendly, from the check-in, to the food service, and even the room cleaning. What it lacks in modern amenities it makes up for with charm and class. I'd love to stay in the B&B portion next time without the kids, they've done a wonderful job with the interior of the house. I'd stay here again!

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Prospect Historic Hotel in August 2013. It was very easy to find and our innkeeper was very helpful with recommendations about nearby hikes. After a week in Oregon exploring many waterfalls, our favorite of the trip was less than a block from our motel room! We wanted to get an early start to Crater Lake on our first morning, so we went to the general store less than a block away and got breakfast burritos, fruit and OJ and were able to store this overnight in our room fridge, warm the burritos up in the microwave and get out the door by 7 am!! There is also a breakfast at the inn, but it wouldn't have allowed for our early start. Rooms were very clean. Shower head was quite low on the wall, even for average height folks, that was truly the only drawback of the room! The grounds were lovely!
4.6 on August 15, 2013
We stayed two nights in the motel and were very satisfied with the room.. There was not a hair dryer in the room but when asked one was provided. We also asked for a cork screw; also provided. Wireless internet was not in the room but that gave us the opportunity to sit on the lovely porch swing at the hotel and connect to the wireless there. The desk help was courteous and helpful for local things to do and would highly recommend this establishment. We ate one evening in the restaurant and everything was delicious and appropriately priced.
3.2 on August 10, 2013
Very friendly hostess. Beautiful setting. We were disappointed at the lack of basic information about the boat tour schedule on Crater Lake. There were reams of brochures about everything else but the hostess seemed unable to answer this question and we missed the boat ride. She spent a bit too much energy trying to sell us on dinner. We did not eat at the hotel, but the survey forced me to rate the dining.

The Pleasures at the Prospect include mingling with the wonderful people, wandering through the lovely property, quiet, restful sleep, and enjoying a tasty dinner and breakfast. I wished for a vibrant, colorful salad or vegetable with my evening meal and I would have liked scrambled eggs with the sausage instead of a medium cooked egg in a cup.

My wife fell on the short trail recommended by front desk. Not fault of B&B, but the trail is not a good one for seniors. Our room was above kitchen, somewhat noisy. Enjoyed sense of history. The town itself looks forlorn.

The room was clean and nice, but VERY small. The bed filled the room and creaked as we turned over in it. This was not the room I booked, and I'm not completely sure why I wasn't given the room I booked. However, by the time we arrived, someone else was in the room I booked. The food was good and the location was convenient, but the night's sleep was lacking.
4.4 on August 04, 2013
Our room was nice, but a little on the small side. We typically do not stay at bed and breakfasts so perhaps this is an average size for a B and B. Room was very clean. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Dining room worked out well for us. The breakfasts were very good. Do not pass up the chance to hike the recommended trails near the hotel-- they were wonderful. This was very convenient for day trips to Crater Lake. I would definitely recommend the Prospect Historic Hotel.

While looking for a place near Crater Lakes this little B&B popped up in my search. I have never done anything like this before but I figured that it was a vacation and should try it out. Location and staff were fantastic! Love that there were a couple little waterfall trails near the hotel that were easily assessable and beautiful. The only complaints that I had about the place was the bed felt like it was going to fall apart when you sat on it and breakfast wasn't anything great. Seemed like they were trying to be too fancy with the meal ideas. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is going to be in the Crater Lake area and would stay there again myself.

The hotel is charming, but really not as close to Crater Lake as advertised. It's an hour away, which I would not consider close.

This was a delightful old, restored hotel about midway between Medford and Crater Lake, that was built over a 100 years ago as a half way stopover between Medford and the NP. The pictures I saw on the Internet didn't do justice to the hotel. It also has lovely grounds. There is really nothing of note in the town other than the hotel. There is really no other place to eat, but that's not a problem, since the meals were quite good. Breakfast comes with a stay in the hotel, but not the motel units where you can purchase breakfast as an addition. Dinner was fine. Breakfast was slow as molasses in being served. There seemed no good reason for this, as there were not many others there at the time. The hotel has been wonderfully restored. Our room was adequate in size, had a comfortable bed with a lovely handmade quilt on it and a nice private shower/toilet room. The sink was in the bedroom. I would suggest anyone to consider staying there enroute to Crater Lake over Union Creek if not staying in the Crater Lake Lodge. I did think the rate of $150 for the room was a bit higher than comparable B&Bs of this level.
3.8 on July 30, 2013
We arrived in the afternoon and had a nice, relaxing night in. The room was air conditioned, which was a wonderful reprieve from the summer heat. We also went to the restaurant and picked up some delicious craft beers from the area.

My mother and I stayed at the hotel on July 14th, 2013. We stayed in the hotel itself. Our room was very comfortable and clean with the old style setting. We had dinner and breakfast in the dining room with wonderful service and fantastic meals. My mother had the salmon and I enjoyed the small cut prime rib, both were delicious. We were only there one night but it was a stay we'll not forget. We spent the day enjoying Crater Lake and the surrounding area so finishing our day at the hotel was a perfect ending. Alisa H. and Eleanor C.

This Hotel is probably the best option when visiting the Crater Lake, although one can also plan some more time to enjoy the area of the hotel itself. We had a one night stay in one of the Motel rooms at the back. The room was big and very clean, parking is possible in front of the door to the room, which is very convenient. Arriving late, we still managed to get something to eat at the restaurant, which has very nice food (certainly exceeded my expectations). The reception staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at a few B&Bs during a trip to west. This one was our favorite. It is filled with character and charm. We even enjoyed drinks on the porch with another travleing couple whom we had only just met. The history is fascinating and well displayed. The meal was also far beyond our expectations and all of this at a great value. Other than our room being on the cold side, the accomodations are great. If we ever go back to that area we would not hesitate to stay at this Inn.
3.4 on July 26, 2013
The location of Prospect is excellent, especially if you have a dog and like to take walks on your road trip. The motel room itself was very basic, lacking the charm of the main house. That's a compromise I'm willing to make to have the dog with me but it would be so nice if it were a little less cramped and ventilation was better (both the dog and I like air). Dinner was quite pleasant, not amazing food but well prepared and nicely served. I'd stay here again.

3.4 on July 25, 2013
Rustic charm with great employees who go out of their way to help. Surprisingly great food. Rooms were clean, small (but adequate)/ The reason for the low value and room evaluation is due to the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. During our stay the night did not get cool enough to balance the lack of air conditioning in the room! Bed was a bit soft.
I am glad to hear that our staff were a big help. As our Hotel is a Nationally Registered Historic Property built in 1888-89 the rooms are not real large as folks were smaller then. When a ground up restoration was done in 1988-89 (100 year anniversary) and private baths were built for each room some of them became cozier. Unfortunately during this guest's stay was when we were going through a heat wave and our Central Air Conditioning unit decided to act up. It has now been replaced and everything is nice and cool. EVERY room is air conditioned. Sorry that it wasn't as pleasant as we all wish it would be when they were here. Equipment breaks sometimes, and of course it happens when it is least appropriate. Hopefully they will return another time to see that our AC does work.

If I saw what our room looked like, I would have chosen a different room. Everything else was wonderful, the meals, the service, the staff, the relaxing veranda, the property.
I am surprised that this guest didn't like the decor in the Jack London Room. It is usually one of more popular rooms though it does have a slightly darker motif in line with being named after Jack London. We have pictures of all of our rooms on our web site so one can preview them in advance. I'm sorry that she didn't take advantage of that opportunity. I am glad that they enjoyed the rest of their stay and our staff took good care of them. Hopefully next time they will pick a room more to their liking.

The food and service at the Prospect Hotel is the best around. The staff is friendly, helpful, and the owners have done a great job making this old hotel a popular destination. The food for both dinner and breakfast is some of the best in the area. The only drawback to our stay is that we selected a third floor room on a very warm day. There was a window air conditioner, but it didn't provide much cool air and because of its placement, we couldn't open the window. Next time we stay (and we will be back), we will reserve a room on the second floor where there is central air and windows that can be opened. I would recommend the Prospect Hotel for anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway.
Unfortunately during this guest's stay was when our Central Air Conditioning unit stopped functioning correctly. Of course that had to happen during a heat wave. All of our Rooms do have Central Air, the rooms on the third floor of the Historic Hotel also have an additional window unit just because they are on the third floor and can use the extra help. They have been tested on a 100 degree day and can cool the room to 65 degrees. I am sorry that it wasn't functioning correctly while they were with us. It is all fine now!

Despite mixed reviews, we stayed here for two nights in mid-July. The WJB room was small as described, but very functional. When AC is running, it can be a tad noisy from the compressor unit outside the window, but this didn't bother us. Great food and service at the dining room for both breakfast and dinner. Beautiful walks to nearby falls, and pleasant drive from Crater Lake. Strong recommendations, and we will definitely return.

This is the hotel people stayed in when they visited Crater Lake in the 1910's. It's lovely, tiny old fashioned rooms but that's authentic. Comfy, friendly and reasonably priced!

We spent the day at Crater Lake, and there is not a lot of reasonably priced lodging nearby, so, even tho we were going to be heading north the next day, we made reservations at the Prospect Motel associated with the b & b in Prospect. Accommodations were clean, staff very friendly, we weren't up for a big dinner that late in the evening, and they said we could get a beer and a burger on the patio, which is what we did. The staff also pointed out some nearby waterfalls and trails which we enjoyed, and had we not decided to go to Prospect, we would have missed the beautiful Rogue River.

This hotel is about an hour from Crater Lake. We stayed in the motel area for two nights and found the rooms to be nice, clean, quiet, and have A/C! We also really enjoyed our dinner (the burgers, sweet potato fries, and lasagna were all really yummy). We also came for the banana pancake breakfast which was delicious. In the morning, we sat on the porch and enjoyed our coffee. I have two criticisms: First, the bed was way too firm and I really didn't sleep very well because of it. Second, the shower heads were really low, so tall people have to duck over to get their head wet. Overall, great little place, friendly hosts, delicious food, and good value!

My husband and I stayed here for our 2 day crater lake excursion. We were greeted by very friendly office staff and given a map of waterfalls to see in Prospect. We had dinner in the restaurant that was incredibly delicious and then spent the evening on the front porch swing before going to bed. Sleeping was the only challenge--I think the bed in our room must have been nearly as old as the hotel because every time my husband or I moved, the bed made very loud squeaking sounds which had us sleeping on edge most of the night. Breakfast the next morning was incredible! The portion and variety was so filling that we didn't have to eat lunch that day at crater lake! I definitely recommend the Prospect Hotel to anyone who is traveling to the area.

Our stay at the Prospect Historic Hotel & Dinner House was OUTSTANDING!! Everything was impeccable!! The house itself and the grounds were beautiful! Our room (The Zane Gray) was as quaint as could be. The service and the food were 5-star!! It was so quiet and peaceful, yet we had lovely visits with other guests. The morning we left, we hiked to the Pearsony Falls - what a lovely surprise hidden in the nearby woods! It was a lovely cap-off to an almost "fairy tale" experience! We will highly recommend it to all! Thanks so much for the very best time!!

Spent two nights in the Jack London Room. This place is wonderful, especially the staff and who wouldn't be in awe over hazelnut/marionberry pancakes. Our morning was greeted by a gourmet breakfast included in the beautiful natural atmosphere of such a historic and comfortable B&B. We had dinner both nights in the hotel dinning room and were treated to excellent fare accompanied by award winning wines. All the rooms are named for their famous historic guest and a short bio is on the wall of each. Wi-fi on the porch makes this place one I must return to.
4.6 on June 20, 2013
Very friendly hotel and town. There are beautiful nature walks along the Rogue River within a few yards of the hotel which is in center of town. The rooms in the motel part are sparkling clean, if small. The restaurant is old colonial decoration, the service great and is probably the best hamburger I've ever had in a restaurant, with super sweet potato fries. There are other more pricey things on the menu that looked good. We would definitely stay here again.
4.8 on June 18, 2013
This was my second stay at this beautiful hotel and the service and hospitality were again outstanding. The wrap-around porch is inviting at all times of the day, the rooms are cozy and I welcomed the no-tech feel to them (rooms do not have a tv, but reliable and fast wireless). Afterall, it is a historic place and lends itself to have a relaxing experience in a quiet surrounding. The home-made food and freshly baked cookies are delicious!

I stayed during the off-season so the restaurant wasn't open. Fred cooked me breakfast every morning and it was amazing! He also gave me some excellent tips on what and where to explore. The history of the hotel was especially interesting. If you are looking for a place to stay that is homey and close to Crater Lake, this is your place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Prospect Historic Hotel. Beautiful rooms, delicious food, friendly and efficient service, beautiful grounds and great local hikes. Definitely a great place to stay.

Stayed in a motel room with a kitchennette for 3 nights while visiting crater lake. Was close to crater lake (40 mins no traffic). The folks running the hotel were amazing. On the first day, they gave us an intro to the area, made GOOD recommendations about sights to see with tips, and were very friendly. The room was clean, kitchen had supplies (pots, pans, silverware, can opener) and though small, allowed us to cook our own simple dinners while we were there. When we came back from our day out, the rooms were cleaned, towels restocked, etc. The diner in the hotel itself was quite good (cost was a bit higher -- $20-30) and a nice treat for a meal. Overall, would recommend this place without hesitation to anyone traveling in the area for well priced, affordable room which was clean and very, very friendly service from the owner and staff.

When I, Steve, checked in I was welcomed with open heart and kindness. The area is what dreams are made off. The grounds were green and well maintained. The food was five star. Fred and Karen treated us like family. If you can somthing to do in Prospect at least have a Lions meal. We will be comming back.

I recently stayed two days at the Prospect Motel for a ski weekend at Crater Lake. I was impressed with the Prospect, the front desk was helpful the rooms clean and comfortable, and well equipped, and a dinner at the restaurant was superb. It is a beautiful property and the management helpful.

The Prospect Hotel is a charming historic B & B in a beautiful area. It is a pretty place to stay while visiting Crater Lake, the Rogue River Gorge, and the waterfalls and trails in Prospect. The owner was friendly and helpful and proved to be a wonderful breakfast chef, too.

This is the 3rd year in the last 4 that we have stayed at the PH. Its wonderful. you have your choice of a historic hotel, or a motor lodge style in back. we choose the motel. A room with a kitchenette. there is a large grass area, horseshoe pits a wonderful setting. They prepare a special , off season meal for our group. The food is absolutley amazing!! The owners are always on site and very freindly. We hope to go back again next year.

Excellent! At first, we booked two hotel rooms (yes, there are hotel rooms and motel rooms). However, a few days before visiting, they sent me an email saying that air conditioners in hotel rooms were still being repaired and we should stay in motel rooms. We had no choice, so we switched them. Motel rooms had a private bathroom, fridge, microwave, TV (old though), soft bed and complimentary toiletry. They were really like hotel rooms, but really cheap. We could save $80 for the two rooms! I really recommend motel rooms unless you really want to stay in what is called "hotel" rooms. The hotel owner suggested not only rooms but also view spots and restaurants near the hotel, even the shortest way to go back to my town! He greatly took care of guests. Thank you very much, and I recommend this hotel to anyone who visit Crater Lake or places nearby.

The hotel is beautiful the perfect place to get quality rest and relaxation. Also, very convenient to Crater Lake to enjoy nature's beauty. The employees are very helpful in every way possible! The dinning room with its Victorian decor is a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. However, the meal leaves little to be desired especially for the exorbitant price. The staff works hard to overcome the downfalls. I would stay here again but eat elsewhere.

The location was good to the Natl Park. The service we received was very good. The room was a little small, but nice and neat. Had everything we needed. Would stay again. Price a little high, but overall a nice historic place. P.S. The Prime Rib was wonderful!!!

Fantastic "four of a kind golf" with golf as it was intended before the very manicured courses. Fair and challenging. A great shot was highly rewarded with a mediocre shot punished. A very decent price for the privilege of playing Bandon dunes couldn't have made golf more fun with fewer hassles. Every aspect was well thought out. Professional to the core. A golf Mecca that I hope is around for ever

The hotel, dining room, parlor and grounds are beautiful. We were in the motel section, which was nice, quiet and clean, but plan to stay in the historic hotel itself next time. The food was very good and they are willing to accomodate special dietary needs, but be sure to make your breakfast and dinner reservations, so they will expect you. This is the only place in Prospect to have a good dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They are knowledgable about the area and gave us a map to several beautiful nearby waterfalls. Twenty-eight miles from Crater Lake National Park and about 35 to the lake itself, which was the reason for our visit.

This event is the last weekend in Sept. Weather was great, three of the six bands were good. Owners are very helpful and friendly. Only problem with the room was the bed. It was very hard and uncomfortable. After two nights our backs were hurting bad. We stayed in the motel section. Food was good, nice weekend other than the bed.

We had a reservation at Crater Lake but rather than arrive there early evening we decided to stop at the Prospect Hotel in the late afternoon instead and proceed to Crater the next day. It was a good decision, the hotel is very nice and clean with well kept grounds. They have a very large land area for other functions if necessary, which we did not need. The desk mentioned a hike to a nearby water fall which was quite spectacular; we did not try the other hikes as we were tired from a long day’s drive. Breakfast was a combination of egg and pancakes with a couple of choices for each. We did not have dinner as we had a very large, and late, lunch. Reservations must be made for dinner if you want that. The hotel is about 45 from Crater Lake rim drive and would be a convenient, and less costly place to stay than the Lodge if you don’t mind the commute. We would stay there again and maybe spend more time seeing the area around Prospect.

Beautiful old hotel loved the porch and grounds. The area has alot to offer in the way of waterfalls and the Rogue River is fantastic. Nice restaurant very friendly staff. Upon arrival, the wrap around porch with rockers and settees (all appointed with comfy cushions and lap blankets) drew us in and put us in a warm mood. It was like walking onto my Grandmother's front porch of long ago. We stayed in the motel rooms behing the Inn. I felt they were clean and good value. We arrived just in time for dinner and left shortly after day break. The area was quiet and we appreciated the lack of heavy traffic. It would have been fun to have had more time to explore the area and linger on that big porch!

Everything was outstanding like the ratings! We stayed in the motel portion since we travel with our dogs and the room was exactly as I expected. What a great place to travel with your dogs though. Plenty of green space for them to run and hiking nearby the hotel. We ate dinner at the dinnerhouse and also breakfast, Joy and Marilyn were lovely and offered wonderful service. Had the chance to meet the owners Fred and Karen and they encouraged me to check out the hotel rooms upstairs, since they keep the door open if vacant. Much history at the Prospect Hotel and Motel, I am so glad we stayed while we visited Crater Lake and the drive didn't feel that far at all. Gloria at the frontdesk was very helpful and friendly and all folks went above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. I will defintely be back for a visit.

Went to the Prospect Hotel to visit the area and most of all Crater Lake, which is not as close as we thought, however, the area around the hotel is well worth the visit. The area is spectacularly beautiful, the Prospect Hotel is a gem and the staff are some of the friendliest people we have ever met. They gave us great information and directions to local attractions and also to Betty's in Union City. The restaurant food and service was great and would go back again just for the restaurant. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We stayed in a motel room which had everything we needed. We were traveling from Crater Lake National Park and this was a very convenient and peaceful place to stop on the way. The village is very small and I don't think there would be any other convenient place to eat nearby. Breakfast is offered, but we felt it was expensive so did not have it.

This was my wife and I first B&B experience and I must say that CW exceeded my expectations. The location is perfect, attention to detail makes you feel like at home, the farm setting is very cosy and the food was amazing, including the Bacon & Oatmeal Cookies. If you are looking to unwind and relax this is the place to do it. We are already planning our next visit.

If you can't find loding at Crater Lake's in-park lodge (the place books up months in advance, so that's a likely possibility), think about driving another ~45 miles to Prospect, OR to stay at the Prospect Historic Hotel. A completely rebuilt former stagecoach stop, the rooms in the main building retain their 1800s feel - small rooms with period furniture, yet with contemporary comforts - and are perfect for travelers who want to feel as though they re back in the day when trips to Crater Lake were real adventures. The service is excellent, the Dinner House provides superb meals for guests or visitors, and the price-value relationship is reasonable. Well worth the additional drive, this is a quiet hospitable inn that deserves all its accolades.
3.4 on September 16, 2012
The staff was warm and friendly. The room clean and quaint. Although the hotel knew it would be full of cyclists leaving earlier than the usual guest, no effort was evident that coffee or breakfast was adjusted to meet the needs of the guests. But, should one expect such treatment? This was a lovely property and I would stay again. I just wished for more effort to accommodate our early departure. Perhaps I'm overly optimistic.

The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed 2 nights so that we could be close to Crater Lake which worked out well. We enjoyed hiking and shopping there. Someone on the staff also suggested that we view the big waterfall close to the hotel which we did. They were lovely. The rooms were clean, and the bed had lots of covers which I "loved".

A great place although farther away from Crater Lake National Park than expected (45 mns). Noisier at night than expected from road traffic. Rooms are nicely decorated but small, and so beds are way too small and mattresses too soft! Bathroom is modern and fully adequate. Restaurant food quality is excellent, but service is too slow due to insufficient staffing, albeit very welcoming and friendly.

Excellent service. The evening meal was delicious. Two of us had the salmon which was very tasty. We stayed in the motel, behind the bed and breakfast. Very nice. Recommend staying here.

We stayed in the motel for two nights while we visited Crater Lake National Park. The staff was friendly and responsive. The rooms were nice, simply appointed but exactly what we needed. I liked that there were twin beds for my boy/girl children. The one area that was lacking was the same as most motels/hotels--lack of counter space in the bathroom. But that was not a big deal and our stay was very nice. I would definitely return if we were in the area again and would recommend the Prospect Hotel to friends. (We did not eat at the hotel, so I gave that category a 3 since the computer made me put in something.)--TM

We stayed in the Zane Grey room. Comfortable bed and a cozy room. Shower pressure was great and the handmade quilt was a nice touch. A coffee-maker in the room would be a good addition. We arrived for dinner the prior evening and were served an outstanding meal. Breakfast the next morning was also exceptional. I recommend the Prospect Hotel and would be happy to stay again. There are other attractions in the area besides Crater Lake; we plan on another visit to explore some more!

The hotel room was a two room suite with 2 single beds in 1 room and 2 queens in the other. I was traveling with my wife and 2 older children and my mother-in-law and the rooms were perfect for a close location to Crater Lake. The food in the dining room was great but a tad pricey. The front desk help was good and we enjoyed our hike to the falls.

This historic B&B is clean, comfortable and charming. We ate dinner in the restaurant. The food was well prepared and the service staff friendly. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the fresh baked cookies a nice treat. We slept very well. Be advised that this is a historic B&B. Do not expect TV and plush amenities that you expect at a five star hotel. It is more laid back and homey. We sat on the front porch and had a rather pleasant evening talking with other guests. We took the short hike to the falls which we enjoyed. If you are looking for a laid back experience, then this B&B could be your answer. The Homemade quilts and homey touches were appreciated.

This was out third stay at the Prospect Historic Hotel and everything was just as we had come to expect. We were planning to run the Crater Lake Rim Runs and when I made the reservation, I missed the correct date by one day. Management e-mailed me to check and gladly adjusted the dates of our stay. On the morning of the run, we had to leave for Crater Lake Park about 5am and a "to go" breakfast had been prepared for us and left in the fridge! We requested and received the Roosevelt Room which is special since it has access to the balcony on the front of the hotel's 2nd floor - our own private porch! We heartily recommend the Historic Hotel in Prospect, Oregon!

Super cute little B&B about an hour from Crater Lake. Everyone was incredibly friendly & helpful, & packed us a take out breakfast since we'd be leaving for the Lake before breakfast was served. The woman who checked us in also gave us a ton of useful information about the Lake, & also pointed us to a variety of other cool natural features stops in the area. The house is a historic town hotel restored to excellent condition. If you're used to traditional hotels, you may find the rooms & beds a bit small, but it was pretty on par with B&Bs in historic buildings where I've stayed before. We paid $150.00 for a queen-size bed & private bathroom. We had dinner at the restaurant the night before because there really isn't much in the surrounding area & figured it would be easiest to eat where we were staying. I had the stuffed pork & my boyfriend had the lamb chops. Neither were amazing but certainly more than fine, with a functional wine selection. You definitely pay a little premium for eating in the B&B, but we didn't really care -- all we wanted was a hot, convenient meal made of real food. The service was excellent. I ended up making a reservation here because my first two choices were booked (Crater Lake Lodge & Crater lake Resort), but we were happy with how it worked out & would certainly stay again.

An unexpected pleasure. It was hot and air was barely adequate, understandable for such an old historic hotel. Air could stand to be updated.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel before running the Crater Lake Half Marathon, and it was one of the best experiences we could have asked for! An extremely friendly staff, delicious food, a warm and cozy room. The room is a little bit small, but was still very comfortable for the two of us. We had to leave early the next morning to get to the marathon starting line, and they made us a breakfast that we could take with us to go in the morning. Breakfast is complimentary, and a GREAT value with great food. We'll definitely be back as soon as we get the chance. Future lodgers, make sure to check out the falls and park close to the hotel. They are absolutely beautiful. Either one would have it's own national park on the East Coast, and it's well worth the short hike from the hotel to get there.

That's a bit what we felt like when we stayed in the motel portion of the Prospect Historic Hotel-Motel. The Internet did not work in our room, and the staff didn't seem to worried about fixing it. Instead, we had to go into the living room in the main building or sit on the porch. There we got to see how the "other half" (those in the hotel) lived. We had a kitchenette in our room, where we prepared dinners so we didn't have to pay the exorbitant prices in the dining room, but the kitchen rules were oppressive. They said we couldn't eat on the beds or anywhere on the carpet (which was just about everywhere), so we ate outside on a small plastic table. No breakfast for us in the motel (unless we wanted to pay $12/person), and the shower heads were so low that even the shortest of us had to duck. Then when we got home, we opened our mail to find a charge from the hotel for $6 for "damaging" a hand towel. They even sent a photo of the towel (which looked a little dirty, but certainly not "damaged"). We didn't remember doing anything to any of the towels, so I wrote to the owner to complain. I told him we were sure we did not damage or permanently stain the towel, but that if he was going to charge us for it anyway, we would like him to refund part of our room fee for the faulty Internet. Instead of being sympathetic, he threatened to call the police and charge us with extortion! Needless to say, we will not going near this place any time in the near or distant future. For anyone who does decide to go, I recommend you bring your own towels, don't touch anything, and take your own photos before you leave.

This is the second time we've stayed here, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Only two critical comments: 1) The dinners at the Dinner House are well prepared but heavy. If we were staying more than one night, we would look (perhaps unsuccessfully) for another place to eat, as we wouldn't want to eat that way for more than one night. 2) The aviary in which our dog had to say when we were out of our room proved somewhat disturbing to her. She would have been happier in her portable kennel, which we had with us. On the plus side: 1) The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. 2) The facility is beautifully kept and very tasteful. 3) The setting is spectacular.

We spent 2 nights at the motel portion of the property. The accommodations were fine, and the staff was friendly and helpful. There are pretty waterfalls in walking distance, and the person who checked us in gave us directions and maps. This part of PHH is a separate and rear wing, in reality a motel on the ground floor. The rooms are small and dark, not conducive to lounging. They are comfortable for sleeping, however. The PHH seemed a bit pricey, but it is the nearest hotel to Crater Lake, and outside the park. We visited in the summer when the weather was pleasant in the evening, so we ate outside on the lawn on some patio furniture. The small town of Prospect is charming and there is a nearby coffee shop restaurant and a pizza/salad/calzone restaurant further up the street. The meals at the PHH are large and a tad pricey-- but not out of line. We didn't eat there. If you visit in the cold weather season, the B&B is probably the better choice as the smaller motel rooms could seem oppressive. Overall, given the small town ambience and nearby natural attractions, I recommend PHH with just a few caveats and reservations.

The hotel, motel and surrounding grounds were very quiet and peaceful. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The highlighted local amenities and activities. The local water falls were a really neat site to go hike to and see. I would not have known about this unless they told us, We played some horseshooes to help wind down in the later afternoon. The local tax was only 1% of the quoted room rate which is very low compared to most urban areas and cities which approach 15%. The food and wine was a little on the pricey side; which was good but not great. We enjoyed the dining atmosphere but the food was average. It had great potential. It was not bad, just could have been better. I would definitely return and would recommend it if you want a good place to stay and if you want peace and quiet.

Prospect Historic Hotel is in a great location, and is a very cute place. We stayed in one of the motel rooms in back....obviously we didn't expect it to be as quaint as the hotel probably was, however, the motel is pretty sparse. It might be nice to put a little 'charm' into those rooms as well. The beds could be upgraded some, and the air conditioners brought up to par (ours never did cool the room!). Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay - the property is beautiful - area to picnic & grill if you wanted. We did have breakfast one morning, and it was very good - not quite worth the rate of $12/pp, but good! We had a great time, and would definitely go back. Thank you!

The house is nice, clean, good situated, but a little old fashioned. The rooms are clean and nice, but small. Some nice waterfalls in the neigbourhood for short walks and a good stay to go to Crater Lake. Dinner was good, but below our expectations, so we eat the second day in Becky's a little further. We are middle ages but the Historic hotel is more suitable for older people.

Prospect is a tiny town off the highway to Crater Lake - only the post office, hotel, a bar, store and gas station. We were absolutely delighted with our stay in the Prospect Hotel on our two day visit to Crater Lake in late June. The walls have pictures of the hotel over the years and the staff will tell you the history. There are two beautiful waterfalls that are a short hike from the hotel - the receptionist gave us a map and other helpful information when we arrived. We stayed in the old hotel in the Jack London room (there are also motel type rooms in the back of the property). The room was small and the sink was in the bedroom, but there was a little desk and bedside tables on both sides of the queen sized bed. The bathroom was modern and clean. The wallpaper was period and there were red sheets on the bed! While the room was at the front of the hotel and there are other rooms nearby that were not ensuite, the hotel was very quiet. There were Jack London books in the room to read and chocolate on the bedside table... We arrived in the late afternoon and hiked to the waterfall. Then read the books from out room on the wide veranda with a glass of wine before dinner. The food was good – salad and dessert comes with the entrée. Small but good wine list with good wines by the glass. Breakfast is preset, but ask what it is and you can modify if you want (we were served pancakes one day, but the table next to us asked for scrambled eggs). We would definitely stay again.

Our stay at the Prospect was delightful. All was "as advertised", including and especially the beautiful walk through the forest to the waterfalls. WE were there off season (late May) to visit Crater lake NP (it was indeed "off season" and we didn't see much of the NP, through fog and snow). The hotel itself was charming with very kind and attentive hosts. This is an old hotel with smaller rooms (we stayed in the Jack London room, which was quite nice).

Our stay at the Prospect Historic Hotel, in the main Bed & Breakfast area, was a wonderful, peaceful retreat. Our anniversary is in April, perfectly timed for catching all the B&B's in the off-season. We had the place pretty much to ourselves, and enjoyed our stay along with the many short walks and hikes nearby leading through gorgeous woods to even more gorgeous waterfalls. Service: Friendly, helpful, personable. The owner was eager to talk but also ready to leave us be when we wanted, and gave us great advice for local walks, hikes, and activities. Food: Excellent. We enjoyed two delicious breakfasts, letting the chef decide and we were not disappointed. Rooms: Small, but clean, nice, quaint, and cozy. Bathrooms very clean. Each room has its own bathroom. Extras: A sitting room with a fireplace, which they will turn on for you if you like. Free wifi. A pathway around the grounds, with a coral with two horses, grassy field, a creek with a bench. Nearby: Good food at the local diner nextdoor. Waterfalls within walking distance. Crater Lake is about an hours drive away; in April, though, there is tons of snow and only one narrow viewpoint at the main lodge area.

A wonderfully charming place to stay in Prospect, OR. Extemely friendly and helpful staff! B&B is beautiful, motel part is old but well kept and very clean! A great value all around, we will be back for sure!!

Outstanding in every way: Food, location, service. Cannot think of anything we would change. Can we move in and stay forever?

After visiting Crater Lake, we stayed here one night along our road trip. Upon arrival, we were given the option to visit the available rooms and pick the one we liked the best. The rooms were small, but comfortable, and decorated with antique furniture and cozy quilts. Our room had a private bathroom with a stall shower, which was also small but adequate for our stay. All in all, it was very charming, and felt like I was staying over my grandmother's house! We were given a map to take a short hike on a wooded path to a lovely waterfall. The B&B is also a "Dinner House," so we decided to have dinner there. The staff was very friendly, but the dinner was quite disappointing. However, the breakfast the next morning was very good. I would recommend this inn if you like old-fashioned country charm with a down-home feel and friendly staff.

This motel is a quiet out of the busy world of business, comfortable place to stop. Accomodations in the kitchenette room were more than adequate. We enjoyed the restfulness of the setting. Just a hop, skip and a jump from an exceptionally beautiful waterfall. The host and hostess were generous with their time, friendly and helpful. We had opportunity to see the hotel on the first and second floor, though we didn't try the third floor. It was beautiful. The hostess was glad to answer questions we had. We would have no problem recommending a stay in this location of excellent service, cleanliness, and hospitality. J and B

The staff was very accomodating as I came in early and left early in the morning. Therefore, I did not use any services other than the room. The room was sufficient, but the bed was not very comfortable. Other than that, the room, staff and location was fine.

Originally I was disappointed that I could not stay at the lodge at Crater Lake but Prospect Historic Hotel was even better then the lodge. I found Prospect historic Hotel very charming. I loved my room and was pleasantly surprised when they told me I could pick out my room. I loved the hikes to the waterfalls and Avenue of the Boulders. I would love to come back in the future.

From the efficient check in to check out next day everyone made our stay seem special. The room we chose was the John Muir which comes into the category of "cosy" but it had all the amenities we required for a one night stay and was well presented and clean. Sat on the porch prior to dinner and were spoken to by a cheerful, friendly guy who turned out to be Fred Wickham. He served us a cold beer and told us some of the history of the hotel. Dinner was very good, nothing fancy but high quality food. Next morning at breakfast we met an equally jovial Karen who also spent time talking to us. The enthusiasm of the Wickham's obviously rubs off on the staff who all were equally friendly and happy to be helpful in any way they could. Prospect itself was a surprise. The town itself is unexciting but as a stop off point between Crater Lake and civilisation it is undersold. The local area is very pretty and there is an excellent waterfall(s) and rapids walk within a few hundred yards of the hotel. 10 miles along the road is a nautral bridge where the local river river surges underground and reappears 50 + yards downstream. May not sound so exciting but is impressive to see and well worth a look. I have only one problem in giving this place a high commendation which is that it may be fully booked the next we want to stay there.

the service at the B and B is outstanding. The staff is welcoming, helpful and very friendly. The waitstaff in the dining room is incredible. hats off to the check for the superb meal. The cabins were very bare, very minimal about the same creature comforts that would be expected at a motel 6. they were clean, and convenient though. good stop. good stay.

One night only...unfortunately! Warm welcome to a hotel full of character and excellent service. About 1/2 hour from Crater Lake, which must not be missed. Oh, and don't overlook the prime ribs.
4.8 on September 13, 2011
The food was fabulous and we are foodies. The chef even remembered after the first day that my boyfriend did not like grapes. He made a special fruit salad bowl for him the next morning. Most of the wines were regional and dinner was the freshest I had on my trip. The recipes are all from the Innkeepers and a few tweeks from the chef. You will love the light refreshing house made salad dressing. Our room was clean, comfortable, quiet, and the in room touches such as local artisan chocolates were great. We stayed in the Jack London room and could not be happier. The porch was great for relaxing with a book and a glass of wine in the evening. The near by falls were stunning. The staff was welcoming, knowledgable, and a joy to come home to in the evening.

We had a great one night stay at the motel. We loved the grounds around the property. When we checked in we got all sorts of wonderful information about things to do and our trip the next day to Crater Lake. We were traveling with our young dog and the hotel and restaurant staff went above and beyond so we could eat dinner outside the restaurant with our dog. Breakfast and dinner we really fantastic (great lasagna). We will definitely be back.

this place popped up searching for lodging near Crater Lake -- but it is 45 minutes away, in the middle of beautiful forest terrain. It is a friendly and beautifully appointed place, and the dining was excellent. The room itself was less pleasant -- a tiny prefab shower in a small room, arctic air conditioning with no thermostat, a very comfortable bed on a squeaky spring. Still, there isn't much competition for places to stay.

spent 2 nights and enjoyed our stay, staff friendly and helpful, interesting, clean, well maintained old building, good breakfast. Dinner reasonably priced for 3 courses but salad was the only starter which is not much good for those of us that don't like rabbits food, service was a little chaotic although we arrived at the reserved time it was some 30 minutes before the salad arrived and the restaurant was not full. The waitress was helped or more like hindered by the well meaning owners, service would have been better if they had let her get on with her job. But having said that its still a nice quirky place to stay, we would return if in the area again.

Wonderful hotel in a sweet little town. Hotel is a historic landmark, remodeled with antique furniture, quilts, etc. The wrap around porch is fantastic. We found it a relaxing place to read, relax, and talk with other guests. Wonderful breakfast comes with the room (huckleberry hazelnut pancakes, delicious egg creations, etc.) Gourmet dinners, really good food, expensive but appropriate for what you get. Not sure of the only two other dining places in town (We had our second night's dinner out of our cooler instead of trying the pizza place or the bar/cafe down the street). Our room was tiny, but I think other rooms were larger (maybe more expensive). It forced us to spend time on the porch or the sitting room / parlor. Staff was helpful, giving us ideas on hikes and things to see. Even the breakfast waitress acted as a tour guide. There are amazing short waterfall hikes beginning right outside the door of the lodge, plus Crater Lake and several Rogue River hikes nearby. A bonus for us was that we happened to be there the day of the annual timber carnival, complete with a sweet little parade, log rolling contests, greased pig contest, three legged races, food, music, crafts, etc. I felt privileged to join in the town's celebration. A quiet, peaceful, happy place to be.

After driving 5+ hours from Portland, Or, we found the little house in the tiny town of Prospect. The relaxed atmosphere was just what we needed, and the added surprises were the wonderful short hikes to the water falls. We liked them so much, that we explored them another day. The Avenue of Boulders was really amazing and worth a visit again. The only negative in the room, the beds were very very firm. But after hiking all day, just to lay down, felt good.

This is a great little place to stay if you plan on seeing Crater Lake. The rooms are tiny but nicely deocrated. The overall ambience of the hotel and properties was relaxing and pleasant. The only thing is, Don't Eat the Food in the dining room! It was awful. I read a few negative reviews about this but wanted to give them a chance. If you like microwaved reheated food then fine!

My husband and I and teenage son enjoyed our stay & our meal in the hotel restaurant. This is a charming old hotel that is full of history. The bathroom in our room was nice and large. Our son had his own adjoining bedroom, which was nice. My husband and I were very comfortable. My son complained however about the lack of air conditioning and said that the bed was too hard for him. I have a bad back and my bed was just fine for me. The hotel has free wifi, but don't expect a fast connection that lets you use more than search engines. My husband couldn't get his work email to function. If you don't need high speed wifi or air conditioning, I recommend this charming hotel.

We recently visited Crater Lake National Park, and stayed at the Prospect Hotel, located about 20 miles south of the park. There are not many places to stay in this area outside the park except campgrounds. The Prospect is a wonderful old building with lots of history. The rooms were small, but certainly well kept. Another reason we stayed here was because there is a restaurant at the hotel -- not many restaurants in the area either. We were surprised to find such a good quality restaurant, and enjoyed our meals there. Also the veranda was a nice place to sit and relax with a glass of wine after a long day touring Crater Lake!
4.8 on August 03, 2011
The room was quaint and tasteful. The food was excellent and the wait staff was fun and informative. The Pearsony and Barr waterfalls near the hotel were unexpected and certainly worth the short hike! The Rogue Gorge and Natural Bridge were also worth the vist while in the area. Take time to do all 4!

I chose this place as a compromise - Crater Lake lodge has been full and this place has been a closest one though in 34 mi from the park entrance. Sometimes one gets as lucky as I was in this case. What a hidden jewel we hit! Who could expect these wonderful waterfalls within a walking distance. This place surroundings themselves could be a real attraction even if Crater Lake has not been that close. That's besides having amazing hosts providing a charming hospitality and amazing dining room experience! Pleasant surprise that was a highlight of our trip!
1.8 on August 01, 2011
Our family of four stayed at the Prospect Motel from July 21 to July 25, 2011. We chose this motel while visiting Crater Lake because the Crater Lake Lodge was full and this motel is a 40 minute drive from Crater Lake National Park. We read some wonderful reviews on the place so we were really excited to stay there. What a disappointment it was! The motel inside looked old and run down. We got the largest room available which included two queen beds and two twin beds. The mattresses on the twin beds sagged badly and gave little support during the night. The microwave did not heat well. On our first day there, the electricity went out because it could not handle the AC, the TV, the lights and the microwave running at the same time. Behind our room, the maids' clutter was left out for us to see all day and night. We could hear them walking around early in the morning while we were still trying to sleep. Maid service was mediocre at best as we had to pick up bath soap and Splenda ourselves from the office because the maid had not bothered to replace them. Two nights before we left, the toilet chain broke and one of the maids jerryrigged it so that we could still flush it. It was never fixed right before we left the motel. Shortly after our return home, we received a receipt of $25 charged to our credit card for a missing sauce pan. No one had bothered to call us to ask if we knew anything about it. We do not know what happened to that sauce pan but if we had wanted a sauce pan from Oregon, we would have bought a new one ourselves for less money. We even ate at their infamous restaurant and the salmon was full of bones! If you still want to stay here, just make sure you have someone walk through the room with you before leaving to check off the inventory.
Unfortunately some people use review sites as a weapon against properties that have justifiable issues with the guest. This negative review attacking us (about our motel NOT our B&B), is because they have had to pay for a pot taken from us. We inventory kitchenettes at each change of guests. Our Assistant Head Housekeeper verified the pot was in the room the day prior to their departure as it was “full of food” when she checked the refrigerator’s operation. The next morning the same Assistant Head Housekeeper found the pot missing! Phone calls to their cell had no response. We don’t know what happened to the pot. It was there when they checked in, it was there the day prior to check out, and was gone after they departed. We charged them the $25 it cost to replace the pot. All of his made up complaints are SOUR GRAPES for having to pay for the pot. He told our receptionist that they “Had a great stay!” upon departure. NO complaints! AAA just rated us at 2 Diamonds rating, the best they give to Motels without pools or fitness rooms! The room NEVER had any electrical issues as these have to be reported to me. When the toilet chain broke (as they do), it was fixed immediately with no more problems. Their room was near Housekeeping so carts are visible after 10am and everyone goes home by 3pm except for the laundry person who shuts down no later then 9pm. Nothing was out all night. Perhaps he heard other guests early in the morning! Missing soap and Splenda does not constitute ‘mediocre’ service. Other reviewers have rated us 4 and 5 stars for our service. We serve Fresh Wild Pacific Coho Salmon which has larger bones then farmed fish that are typically so soft one may not notice them. Fish has bones. I am sorry that the guest is upset, however if every person that stayed here took our equipment and were not held responsible for the loss we wouldn’t have any equipment left! He is only upset because they were charged for something they took from us!

We stayed in the historic building -- the John Muir room to be exact. It is on the third floor, small, but we expected that. The whole place was very nicely decorated with an early 20th century feel and was greatly to our liking. It would be nice to stay at the Crater Lake Lodge, but my experience with the older national park lodges, is that the rooms are equally small and difficult to maneuver, and are very difficult to get into and except for the experience of staying there, not particularly worth it. The Prospect Hotel is located in a small town (there is gasoline and a couple eating places available) and has a great deal of character. Definitely worth it! The Prospect Hotel provides a great base for exploring the area -- and there is much to explore. You can relax with on the front wrap-around porch with beverages of your choice. We stayed two nights, dining once in the hotel restaurant and once at Becky's Restaurant just up the road near the Rogue Gorge. Stay here and you become part of the history of the place along with some of the more famous guests!

We were looking for a place to stay during our visit to Crater Lake. With the Crater Lake Lodge booked up a year in advance, we were looking for something close that was also nice. The Prospect Hotel fit the bill. About a 40 minute drive to the Lake. The breakfast was very good; they also offered dinner in the dining room with table linens, decorations, and the works. A little pricey but very good. We stayed in the William Jennings Bryan room in the Historic Hotel - the bed was a little harder than we were used to but after a full day touring and hiking around Crater Lake we managed to sleep OK. This particular room is over the kitchen so it doesn't really quiet down until kitchen cleanup is complete around 1030 or 11 PM. If that is an issue for you I would book a different room. The staff was very cordial. There are several short hikes nearby; otherwise Prospect is very quiet.

Cute hotel! Stayed in the motel part of the Prospect. Rooms are cozy, a bit older but okay. They had some good sized mosqitos but, being near the river, that's to be expected. The food and service at the restaurant was fabulous and well worth the money!

This was a great historic place. Terrific food and wines. Great service by all. A wonderful retreat! But the rooms were straight out of the late 1800s! OK, so the closets had been converted to baths. Whew! But my wife and I were just barely able to walk around the bed. No place to hang clothes. :-( Keeping it authentic has a price, for sure. We still recommend it, but we could not take more than a couple of nights.

for $150 I expected the beds to be way more comfortable. We stayed in the Roosevelt Room and it felt like we were sleeping on the box springs instead of the mattress. Overall, the room was quaint and we had a balcony and the bathroom was very clean and down the hallway. We also ate in the restaurant and I ordered the prime rib. When I ordered it I said I wanted it rare to medium rare and it came out completely overcooked. I'm pretty sure it was a reheat and cooked in a pan. It was dry and tough. Carl's breakfast was pretty good and the wait staff and everyone was very friendly. Do yourselves a favor and go to the bar next door and mingle with the locals. It will be an experience of a lifetime.

Hosts very helpful with good advice about local sights. Pre-dinner drinks on the porch were a highlight in the evening. Main disappointment was the bed (in Boothby) which was very uncomfortable and creaked.
4.6 on July 11, 2011
My biggest regret is that we were only there for one night. We (two adults and one child) stayed in the motel portion, instead of in the main house. The suite was exactly what we needed, but the motel rooms lack some of the charm of the main house. The service, food, environment, and basically everything about the stay was perfect. We had not expected that there were things to see in Prospect itself, but there are water falls and trails that we could walk to an explore directly from town. So next time we won't just "pass through".

My partner and I stayed here for two nights. The house is lovely and the owners very nice. The bed was slightly uncomfortable but everything else was great. Food was good but not top star. There is quite a bit to do right in the area. All in all I liked it much better than the Crater Lake Lodge.

The Prospect Hotel-Motel was a great choice as a base to explore southern Oregon. It is a quaint, well maintained, and beautiful property in a beautiful location. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with information to help us explore the area. There are impressive waterfalls within walking distance of the hotel, and Crater Lake NP is only a 30-40 minute drive away. Sign up for the breakfast for a taste treat and incredible personalized service. Flight issues and delays cause us to miss our first nights stay, but we called last minute, and were not charged for the night. Thanks for an enoyable stay. Jim Madison, WI

We stayed at Prospect Hotel over the 4th of July on our trip to Crater Lake. The motel room we stayed in was great for the price. Everyone at the hotel was very pleasant and helpful. They gave us directions on places to hike and and close by attractions. The dinner in the hotel was very good. Overall we had a great time!
3.6 on July 05, 2011
We chose this motel because they offered rooms where you can keep your dog with you. We ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel dining room and both were excellent. Service was great and those working the front desk and the dining room were generous with suggestions of things to do and see in the Crater Lake/Prospect area. Karen showed us the Crater Lake webcam on her computer so we knew what to expect from the weather before we left. If we could make one criticism of the motel it would be about the bed in our room. It felt like we were sleeping on the box-spring, and was not very comfortable. We liked the fact that the room had a refrigerator and a full-size coffee maker instead of one of those dinky things you get in most hotels. Overall a very nice place, we would definitely visit again.

My Mom. My two dogs, and myself loved this place. We stayed at the motel with the dogs. The Hotel is beatiful. We did not eat there but the dining room looked very nice! I highly recommend this place. Great stop on your way to Crater Lake!

My wife and I stayed at one of the motel units of the Prospect Hotel for a couple of nights. Our primary reason to visit the area was to spend a day at the Crater Lake National Park. We were very happy with our stay there, and the hotel staff were extremely nice. Crater Lake is very accessible from this hotel, and there are also two nice waterfalls close to the hotel. Several other small state parks are also accessible from this hotel, making it a good place to stay.

A great place to stay midway between Ashland and Crater Lake. Many beautiful short hikes near the hotel, which was especially appreciated because there was still 4 feet of snow at Crater Lake. We stayed at the hotel in the Jack London room --small but very charming. Dinner and breakfast (included with room) were truly outstanding.

We were treated like old friend or family members. Excellent staff, outstanding food (e.g. Huckleberry Pancakes...) and beautiful rooms that tell the stories of all the famous people who have stayed there

The 4 of us felt very well in this very nice and historical place and the hosting as well as quality of the food has been very, very good.

The B&B is just beautiful and really gives you the "historic" feel without the run down appearance and with modern amenities. The motel is nice but obviously cannot compare with the B&B hotel. The location is great and the people who run the place are just marvelous. The manager waited for us until after 11 PM to check us in because we had gotten delayed on our drive down from Seattle. We'd like to return someday for a longer stay. Crater Lake is magical and humbling at the same time.

Stayed in motel not B&B. Was clean, nothing fancy which is what we expected. Beautiful grounds and great location. Service was great. All very nice.

We staying in the motel, much like any motel, but the Inn is charming and the grounds very welcoming. Dinner at the Inn was outstanding and a great value for the price. The waterfalls are worth the short walks. A lovely stay. Kathleen Baker

I was expecting quaint but tired, for the photos didn't do it justice. It was quaint, but so much more. Clean fresh rooms, each with a past, interesting histories & memorabillia to suit. Staff were more than helpful, eager to share their knowledge, we would have missed some of the most stunning waterfalls of our trip.... Everything was run smoothly, with expert hands, everything just right... shows great experience. Thank you.

Whenever you book online, you just don't know, but this B&B was beautiful, hosts welcoming and the food excellent! It is hidden away and is even better in person, private and has waterfalls within short walking distance! Best stop on way to Crater Lake!

Dining room menu wonderful and reasonably priced. Lamb is free range and delicious. Prime rib with blue cheese butter, salmon all outstanding. Southern Oregon Beer (SOB) brewed by an anesthesiologist, also terrific. Great place to rest, read, hike and fish, to name a few. B&B grounds are idyllic.

After a day in the snow at Crater Lake, we were delighted to discover this treasure tucked in the trees off of HWY 62. Karen & Fred were warm & welcoming and the setting/hotel were lovely. Our breakfast was delicious & we enjoyed the opportunity to talk to Karen about the adventure of running an inn. Loved the histories provided in the rooms. We were in Prospect before the hotel's dinner house opened for the season - and the cafe next door had not received the week's shipment of food, so dinner pickin's were slim. Cafe olks were kind & went out of their way to get us something to fill our tummies - but the resulting sandwiches were quite a contrast to the menu we could've enjoyed had we been traveling a month later.

Fred & Karen are tremendous hosts! Their hospitality & friendliness are what really make this place a gem. The walking distance to some breathtaking waterfalls is also a real treat! Do go explore this part of Oregon; it's fantastic!

Though we only stayed here one night in February (one of the motel rooms), we will definitely try this place again next time we're in the area. The room was clean and well appointed, albeit a little small. Best part was the location, and the owners! He was quick to return calls & email for reservation changes and extremely friendly, even giving tips on where to go for the best photographs and a history of the place. Great value and experience!

The staff were pleasant and helpful with showing us how to get to some local hikes. We stayed in the motel room #1. I should have spent the extra $50 or so for a room in the hotel. The motel room was very clean. Bed in room#1 was hard (springs were too rigid?) and difficult to sleep on. The air conditioner was loud and that also made it difficult to sleep. The parlor was nice to sit in and read magazines and have coffee or tea. Overall, it was a nice place.

I stayed in the motel and not the B&B. The only thing I didn't like was that smokers were camped outside their motel room so I couldn't avoid the haze of smoke. But my room was nice, clean, and I had expected a 1970's-ish style from the internet photos. The hotel is gorgeous, well-kept, and dinner was excellent (but there's a lot of pink flowery decor in the dining room and sitting rooms of the hotel). The grounds are also well maintained and quite accessable. Overall, a great experience in little Prospect!

Came by this place on the internet looking for lodging close to Crater Lake. It was a quaint building with alot of history. It was walking distance to local cafe with excellent local dining if you didn't want to go to the Inn's luxious dining room. Also, viewed the waterfalls down the road. Would recommend this to other travelers. People were kind and courteouos.

Enjoyed the spacious Record Suite! We peeked in the other rooms and they were all decorated very appealingly. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.

We were there as they were preparing for the "Mountain Music Festival " so it was probably more crowded than usual. However, the staff was very helpful in giving us directions to the nearby waterfalls. The waiter was also helpful with our orders and the food was outstanding. It is a good place to relax and enjoy nature. We would recommend it to our friends.

Location, food and accomodations were all fine. Only complaint was the bed which was unusually firm.

All was fine with our stay. We were happy with our room, staff support and assistance in finding our way to local attractions. My only problem all along was in not receiving our hotel reservations on email and this is the reason -- for some reason, my reservation was sent to an address that I have not used in more than a year! I use vark44 at me.com, not this address. Can't figure out how that happened!

Our plan was to visit Crater Lake and Ashland and were disappointed to find Crater Lake Lodge booked to capacity. We booked the Prospect Historic Hotel/Motel with faith that the online description would live up to its promise. We were not disappointed. The staff was helpful and friendly, the location was great, we ate at the Dinner House on two consecutive nights and enjoyed the prime rib and salmon. Our motel room was clean and the price was right. We thoroughly enjoyed this homey atmosphere.

The staff at Prospect were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The motel we stayed in was clean and adequate. The only disappointment was that the bed was too hard. We especially enjoyed the hike where the boulders were. Everything was covered in moss, no one was around, very peaceful and cool. It was quiet magical.

What a great place to stay and relax. An Oregon Micro Brew on the porch before dinner, wonderful food at reasonable prices and exceptionally quiet in a lovely location. There is not much to do in town, but there are some wonderful short hikes to walk off the Prime Rib. Will tell my freinds that this is "The Place to Stay" when visiting Crater Lake.

Great place, wonderful hosts, extremely friendly staff. Sitting on the porch on a warm summer night rounds up a visit to Crater Lake just perfectly. Strolling down to the local waterfalls is also recommended.

We were the only guests on the property and alas we didn't stay in the Hotel but opted for one of the motel rooms. Very clean and comfortable. The grounds are adorable, even with all the snow when we were there. Found a great little greasy spoon next door and walked to the waterfalls. Fred was very kind and helpful, even when we checked in much later than we thought we would. We hope to return to the area again during the summer for some hiking and will stay here for sure!
