A Painted Lady Inn is Portlands newest addition in affordable Bed and Breakfast accomodation. A welcoming double parlour entry with fireplace and the dining room have been beautifully appointed for our guests enjoyment and each room of the house features at least one original work of art. The feel is cozy, yet opulent with a eclectic mix of patterns, textures, and amazing detail. Large guest rooms have new queen size beds, air condioning and comfortable sitting areas. The longer you stay the more you'll appreciate the three years of work that went into the total restoration of this Irvington gem.

A gorgeous collection of antiques fill this inn. By the time you read this, the exterior may have been repainted -- it was plain white when we arrived, but we were told of the plans to make it colorful like the others in the area. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Breakfast was tasty and good size, but not huge (which means just right, rather than wasting food). The owner sat down and ate breakfast with us; very friendly. Walk around the beautiful historic neighborhood, just across the river from downtown. Oh, and the painted lady? She appears in several pictures. Ask the owner about her.

A Painted Lady Inn was the perfect spot for my friend and I to stay a night in Portland - it's a comfortable older home with loads of personality and charm, relaxed and open atmosphere, and a great host. Jody was always available, but never intrusive, and gave us great dinner advice (Petiscos has a delicious sampler platter, wonderful white sangrias, and an outstanding chocolate ganache cake as well as friendly staff) and directions to everywhere we needed. . We had a comfy bed in a quiet room with a small air conditoner , hot showers, and a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit (yummy scrambled eggs with mushrooms and horseradish cheese!) before setting off for the day. We will definitely be back!

Our short stay in Portland was comfortable and very pleasant, thanks to the loving care the Jody has lavished on her home, and the delicious breakfast provided. THe neighbor hood offered our favorite evening activity; a walk through leafy residential district, but with food and drink around the corner.

We escaped to Portland for acladie's weekend and rented the cottage. It was lovely and had everything we needed. The location was within walking distance of Torro Bravo for dinner as well as plenty of shopping and the Max. This is my second stay at The Painted Lady and I highly recommend it!

We booked the room at the last minute, so we can't actually comment about the dining, as breakfast did not fit our schedule. (Disregard that rating.) We had very little interaction with the proprietor or other guests, but what little interactions we had were very pleasant. The room (and the entire house) are decorated in that faux-19th century style common to B&B's. Not my cup of tea, but at least in this case well done and not too over-the-top. The Painted Lady is on a surprisingly quiet side street, just blocks from the largest mall this close to Portland's downtown. It's also quite near a freeway on-ramp. The convenience/location factor is pretty high. We'd definitely stay here again.
