    Zen Garden Bed and Breakfast, Manzanita, Oregon Coast, is right beside the seven mile beach. There are no roads to cross to be on the sand beside the water. It takes one minute from your bedroom to walk and dip your feet in the glassy, green waves and the swirling, white foam! Zen Garden provides a quiet, spacious escape by the peaceful shore and its wild, grassy sand dunes with hawks, crows and tiny, singing birds in the trees. Zen Garden has two, deluxe, private suites with separate dining areas. Immediate, level access to the sand and waves for superb walks, and also across the street is a footpath into the pine forest of Nehalem Bay State Park. Private dining and delicious hot or cold breakfast of your choice served to you in your own, exclusive dining room any time between 8 and 10 A.M. Special diets accomodated. Plenty of fresh fruit and grains for slimmers. Imported cheeses. Crepes with exotic fillings, omelettes, organic ingredients. Secluded sunbathing and dining patios. Outdoor fresh hotwater Zen Bath in a golden pavilion, reserved by the hour. Very suitable for anniversaries and other romantic occasions. We do not have cable television, only vhs movies. We regret, we do not have accomodation for children, smokers or pets. We do not allow smoking, either inside or outside the house. We do not provide or permit microwave ovens and no cooking is allowed on the premises.

    Reservation Policy

    • Check in: 4 PM or later    Check out: 11 AM

    • Deposit amount required: Full amount at time of reservation.

    • Cancellations: Cancellations can be refunded fully, less a twenty five dollar cancellation fee, if cancelled 21 days before the date of arrival. For reservations cancelled up to fifteen days before the date of arrival, half the amount paid can be refunded. For reservations cancelled up to eight days before the date of arrival, one quarter of the amount paid can be refunded, unless we are able to rebook the room. We will do our best to rebook the room but it is not always possible. NO refund for cancellations after eight days before the date of arrival. No refunds if the guests leave before their scheduled date of departure.

    Everything is delicious.
    Most popular for breakfast are the Palachinkas, crepes filled with a variety of ingredients including imported cheese and prosciutto, or sauteed hot bananas with cinnamon, raisins and chocolate, served with whipped cream. Dinners include baked local fish, very fresh in season, depending upon the weather and if the boats can get out. In season, strawberries and cream.

    Stayed 2 nights (July 2011). Really enjoyed the quite and serenity of the Hirshige Room. As previously mentioned, great collection of books; you need to bring your own DVD's if you want your own preferences. But...really enjoyed the NO TV (!!!) or news. Thankfully, the weather wasn't bad ( a little windy), but the service and food (breakfasts) were plentiful and delicious. As Arnie said " I'll be back!!!!!"".

    I was planning a "kidnapping" of my wife and wanted to stay someplace very nice. While surfing B&B's on the Oregon coast I stumbled across the Zen Garden. We were not disappointed. If you are looking for a very quiet (read no, repeat NO, television but there is a rear projection monitor, DVD player, CHS player and a CD player.) place to getaway from it all, Zen Garden is perfect. As has been said, the breakfast was wonderful, the accommodations were very nice. We loved it. A word to the wise. The library is very eclectic, however the music, DVD and VHS selections are limited. Either bring your bring your own or plan to rent in Manzanita at the grocery store.

    Visited for 2 nights for our 25th wedding anniversary, very much enjoyed the stay, the breakfasts were delicious, the bed very comfortable and Mrs Smigel was quite helpful

    Great Breakfast, very private, but the Zen Room is small

    If you want a private stay this is the place for you. I loved that my wife and I ate together without having to talk with another couple. The breakfast was great with several options. We will go back but we will not stay in the Zen room. It is too small. The Hiroshige is spacious and not that much more.
