Forest Springs Bed and Breakfast

This beautifully restored vintage home is secluded in a forested area yet close to all shopping and dining in the area. Patrick is an outstanding chef who provides a wide array of tasty yet healthy vegetarian breakfast treats. Every item is prepared with fresh local ingredients. Our favorite room is the upstairs Parisian Room. We discovered Forest Spring Bed and Breakfast in 2008 and just completed our eighth stay.

Such a lovely B & B. Every detail for the guest has been considered- from the elegant and comfortable decor to the excellent breakfasts. Kudos to our hosts!

Forest Springs Bed and Breakfast (B&B) in Gresham near Portland, Oregon is amazing and I would highly recommend it. I stayed at this B&B over the Easter long weekend, traveling from Vancouver, Canada. Patrick is a culinary genius and made mouthwatering, unique breakfast meals that kept me going well past lunch. One of my favourite meals he made was a blueberry soufflé with fresh fruit, agave nectar and freshly whipped cream. Everything he made was healthy yet incredibly flavourful - simply amazing. I would recommend Forest Springs Bed and Breakfast just for that! The B&B is beautiful and surrounded by forest - we even saw a wild deer when we first arrived at the front porch! Our room was very well kept and every surface we came into contact with was spotless. I noticed that Patrick only used "green" products to clean the B&B and all his practices were incredibly eco-friendly. The bed was also the most comfortable I've ever slept in - the sheets were SO incredibly soft. I became so well rested during my time there. On top of that, the B&B was just a 20 minute drive away from downtown Portland, Oregon. I returned back to Vancouver incredibly relaxed and satisfied. I would highly recommend Forest Springs Bed and Breakfast in Gresham near Portland, Oregon for its eco-friendly/green practices and culinary excellence.

An outstanding B and B away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough to be any where in minutes. This is our fifth stay with Patrick who is friendly, knowledgeable and a great chef. Breakfast is wholesome and tasty with lots of flavors. We like the fact that Patrick sits, has coffee and talks with his guest during breakfast. We feel that is a nice touch. The rooms are based around a theme with the Parisian Room being our favorite. We would no longer consider any other B and B in the Portland area. We were hooked after our first visit. Words cannot describe the Forest Springs Bed and Breakfast. You have to experience the moment.

All of my former travel stays have been in hotels, motels and rental homes. This stay at Forest Springs Bed and Breakfast may have changed that for future. B & B stays are about the host and the ambiance. Patrick makes his guests feel like family. His accommodations are clean and full of memorabilia. The surroundings are like being in a forest only a short ways from civilization. Breakfast is awesome. Highly recommend.

This is a must stay B&B!!! Every attention to detail far exceeded our expectations - from our first arrival to the day we left, Patrick made sure we were well cared for. This B&B is warm, beautiful, comfortable, private and relaxing. The beds, sheets, towels and ameneties are top-notch. The breakfasts and coffee are outstanding. The location is superb - close to the city, yet completely private. The home is a beautifully decorated historic home, with great attention to detail given to maintain its charm. You must give this B&B a try; it will make you want to return again and again and again!

We attended a wedding on Mt. Hood but also wanted access to the city of Portland. This is a great lushly wooded, mid point between the two. Patrick is a fantastic host with great stories and recipes. We'd definitely return.

We loved everything! A gorgeous property with everything we needed to enjoy our stay: tasteful and comfortable accommodations, high-speed wireless internet, fantastic breakfasts and gracious hosts. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Just outside of the city, house and rooms are well-fashioned and tasteful, not cheesy. Privacy when you want privacy; conversation when you want conversation. Every category exceeded expectations. The breakfasts seem like they're all basically made from scratch, with local produce like fresh berries supplementing the breakfasts. They were some of the best breakfasts we've ever had. Clean, comfortable rooms. Patrick is also great at being very helpful with directions, recommendations, etc. I cannot come up with something negative for the review. It was just what we wanted!

My Wife and I had invited her neice and nephew to join us for an annual event in Portland Oregon. We knew that they enjoyed bed and breakfast accomodations so we booked the Forest Springs Bed and Breakfast in Gresham Oregon. This was a perfect spot. The rooms were exquisit, the host Patrick was exceptional and the ambiance was sublime. A special comment about Patrick is in order. He was very personable, knowledgeable about the local area and a superior cook. This experience was made to be outstanding mainly by his presents.

The innkeepers were gracious, the grounds and home were lovely, and the rooms were immaculate. Above all, the breakfasts were creative, delicious, and beautifully presented by Patrick, who is a chef!

Wre had a wonderful stay. The room was very well appointed. The common areas are lovely. Breakfast ws superb. We stayed hear to attend a concert at McMenamins and it was an easy drive there and back.

We stayed at the B&B for 6 nights and literally felt sad when it was time to leave. Patrick and Stan are wonderful people who really care about getting to know their guests. My husband and I had wonderful conversations and enjoyed our stay immensely. Patrick was very knowledgeable about the area and ways to get around the easiest. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you are interested in staying at B&B where the food is outstanding and a place that feels like home - this is the place. Whenever we are back in the area - we will stay here - no doubt about it. The breakfast meals were incredible, the rooms are clean and decorated so nicely. The home is very welcoming and we felt like we could use the sun room and be comfortable. Patrick and Stan came to be like family to us and you can't beat that at any hotel or place to stay. Book a few nights - you will thank us!!

We stayed here for two nights as it was located about five minutes away from our wedding site. Patrick keeps a clean, beautiful house, and is an incredible host. The food is the best I have ever had, and that is saying a lot as both my husband and I are chefs. The ingredients he uses are the best around. I will definitely recommend Forest Springs to anyone, and will probably visit again in the future. Also a great value! You will spend much more for an ok hotel and receive much less, especially in the food category.

This home is beautiful, clean, and surrounded by greenery on acreage. Patrick was so friendly and accommodating, it felt like a home away from home. This is an environmentally friendly Bed & Breakfast, with every detail given to the freshest organic ingredients in cooking, to the best quality supplies (including locally hand made soap). Their consideration in making our stay a comfortable and welcome experience is evident in every area. We recommend Forest Springs historic Bed & Breakfast to anyone traveling to the Portland/Gresham area.

I stayed here while I was taking the bar exam in Clackamas. I figured it would be a good place to get away from bar-induced stress (and I was right -- couldn't imagine a more relaxing set-up.) The morning of my bar exam, I thought I locked my keys in my car, which was going to make me late to the exam, and would make me automatically fail. The owners were so nice they volunteered to wake up early and drive me to Clackamas. I later found the keys so I didn't need the help, but that's just one indication of how much these innkeepers value their guests. I've stayed at a lot of B and B's (maybe 10 per year for the last four years) and this inn is among the top two! Here are just some of the other details that made this place such a joy: 1) Quiet forested location near the city 2) Fantastic food. Breakfasts start with berries and creme fresh and then progress to either custard pancakes or an omelette. The chef buys fresh produce every day at the farmer's market, and it shows! 3) Free wine (red and white) and chocolate in the afternoon. 4) Good towels (fluffy and thick) 5) Charming craftsman style house 6) Innkeepers who really care.

Staying at Forest Springs Bed and Breakfast is undoubtedly the highlight of our Portland trips, and we look forward to returning every year. The house itself is exceptionally charming. Much love and attention has gone into creating an atmosphere that is always relaxed and welcoming. The rooms are tastefully furnished and the grounds are beautifully maintained. It is a hidden gem in the forest that looks like it sprung from the pages of a magazine. Moreover, it is the hospitality and warmth of its Inn Keepers, Patrick and Stan, that really make this stay a 5 Star experience not to be missed if you are traveling in the area. Both are extraordinarily gracious with their time and knowledge, having pointed us in the right direction numerous times regarding what to see and where to go. As an added bonus, Patrick is a superb talent in the kitchen; you will not find a better breakfast in the Portland Metro area. From his savory egg dishes to his sweeter baked sensations, from his freshly brewed coffee to his perfect pot of tea, Patrick's breakfasts are an indulgent experience we look forward to well ahead of our trips. Without reservation, we highly recommend a stay at their establishment. You will certainly have a wonderful experience!

A very welcome break from staying in motels, and hotels! Very comfortable, relaxed. Staying at the B&B was a delight, all the charm and comfort of home. The host's of the B&B very engaging as well.

This B&B is run by one of the courteous owners, the rooms are excellent, the atmosphere relaxed but clean, structured, and tidy. The breakfast was top chef quality. Overall I'm very glad I found this B&B, and will be returning if an when I visit Portland again.

We were very pleased with our visit to Forest Springs in May 2005. The B&B is located on the fringes of Gresham, convenient to Portland, on a fabulous property. We felt like we were in a forest, rather the heart of the largest metropolitan area in Oregon. Patrick was a fine host--treating us to wine and stories. He was very knowledgeable and set a very nice breakfast the next morning.

We have stayed at numerous bed and breakfast inns, and Forest Springs is definitely among our favorites. The host, Patrick Arbuckle, is extremely personable and friendly. His stories kept us laughing, and he kept our wine glasses filled. In the morning, we were treated to the most delicious homemade scones -- and that was just for starters. Patrick even prepared a special to-go breakfast for some other guests who had to leave before breakfast was officially served. The inn is located in a quiet area of town, but convenient to Portland. The price was reasonable, and much cheaper than anything else we found. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very cozy.
