Fantastic location, warm and friendly welcome, everything you could wish for from movies to board games, band-aids to granola bars and a very comfortable bed. Bring your own breakfast or enjoy Barbara's home-made scones or go to Mattie's pancake house in nearby Brookings. There's a huge deck for watching the ocean and steps down to the quiet beach where you can watch the birds and the sunset and sunrise. A home from home. Highly recommended.

Nice spacious one bedroom unit with a fully stocked kitchenette. Nice large bathroom. Best is the view of the river and ocean! We saw a sea otter on the beach. Nice and clean and comfortable bed. And we could hear the ocean waves!

Lowden's B&B is perched on a knoll that overlooks the junction of the gently moving Winchuck River and the Oregon Coast. The mini-suites are very nicely appointed with simple, but tasteful oak furniture, mini refrig., micro and many amenities. The bedroom is very lovely with a very comfortable bed and charming electric fireplace. The views are in a word...stunning. During my stay I saw playful river otters, Osprey catching fish in the river, a bald eagle, and 3 whales. The access to the beach at the very end of the walkway is a bit tricky as the owners are not allowed to improve the access due to regulations, but just take your time and watch your footing and you are soon enjoying a spectacular beach stroll amidst the gentle waves. The B&B hosts, Barbara and Gary are so friendly and have have thought of everything you might forget available in your suite. They are the perfect hosts....they uncannily know when to make themselves visible and when to disappear and allow you your privacy in this idyllic setting. I have been to many B&B's along the Oregon & California coast and Lowden's will rank as one of my favorites. It's not flashy, overstated or overpriced. It is charming, very comfortable, reasonably priced with a breathtaking setting and hosts who are just wonderful. I also enjoyed meeting their Shih Tzu- Mike, the Siamese cat "Mew" and their newest edition to their family "Jazz" an adorable Pom puppy. The abundance of wildlife visible from your room is amazing...I couldn't stop staring out the windows the whole time I was there. I will definitely return again & again and I highly recommend Lowden's B&B

Very nice place. The rooms are very nicely appointed, furnished, and provisioned. The Lowdens are super friendly and helpful, and at the same time organized and clear to make arrangements with. The view from the rooms is just terrific--waves and beach and sea stacks and trees along a stretch of coast, the river in the foreground flowing into the sea, driftwood abundant here and there, not to mention the constant sound of the surf coming in the sliding-glass door. Easy access to a great beach for a terrific stroll along the sand.

If you're after a quiet visually pleasing vacation, then it has to be Lowden's B&B. Nestled above the beach just passed the California border into Oregon, Lowden's is a wonderful jewel in the ocean rough. Gary and Barbara made this a trip to remember, their location and atmosphere made this B&B and the beach access the perfect place to propose to my girlfriend. Thank you both for making this visit one to remember!

Delightful. The host was invisible but available. Perfect! Plenty to keep us busy. The rocky coast is wonderful. Views are dramatic. Its more like sitting in your home than in a hotel very comfortable Highly recommended.

I was ready for a vacation and I can tell you that the 6 days I spent here were just what I needed. Who could ask for anything more: great suite, the beach at you doorstep, incredible views and great service. The Lowdens treated me as though I was family. Cann't wait for next year and another visit. C.Robidoux, Houston, Tx

I stayed here for a night, and was very impressed with the property, its location, and the warm hospitality of my hosts! My room was very large (separate bedroom and living area) and comfortably furnished. The location is great (I could have literally jumped off the deck into the ocean!). Breakfast was not a "typical B&B breakfast that's served in the kitchen," but rather, was left in my room the previous night. I thought this was actually a nice change so I could set my own schedule in the morning and check out as early as I needed to. Barbara was very welcoming and offered some great local insights on where to eat, what the community is like, etc. Would highly recommend this B&B to anyone traveling along the Oregon coast!

It was exactly what we wanted: a private suite with beach access and a beautiful view of the ocean as well as the Winchuck River. We wanted a B&B that didn't share a common area, and this was the place for us. We kept our privacy but yet enjoyed meeting and conversing with our hosts when we happened to meet. The southwest exposure kept the wind off the deck and allowed us to sit outside in comfort and bask in the warm sunshine. The beach had sandy areas as well as access to tidal pools. There were no antiques or "themed" rooms but we didn't need them. The Lowdens provided a wonderful warm weekend getaway: it was just the ticket!

We really enjoyed our stay with the Lowden's. The room was comfortably furnished, and was bigger than I expected. The VIEW is amazing! A river meets the ocean right outside the window, so we saw many birds in the estuary area. There was even a pair on binoculars in the room! The Lowden's B&B is perfect for anything from a romantic getaway to a family vacation. We highly recommend them and would surely return.

One of the most beautiful views on the Oregon Coast. You've got the Winchuck River and a secluded sandy beach/ocean at your doorstep. Rooms are nice and have widescreen TV's, DVD player, and free WiFi. Room rates were excellent, especially for an ocean front room. There were many fun things to do in the area such as hiking/sightseeing the Redwood forests, tidepooling, and eating at the local seafood restaurants. Overall, Lowden's Beachfront Bed and Breakfast was a great place to stay and comes highly recommended.

I've been staying at Lowden's several times a year since 2001. Barbara and Gary Lowden are warm and sensitive hosts. Their place is nicely maintained, and nearly every time I go, I find something new--a lovely bedspread or blanket, beautiful sheets and towels, a new coffee maker or an electric tea kettle. The accomodations are cozy and welcoming. I always enjoy the fresh flowers on the table as I come in. The suites include a bedroom, bath (with a good shower head and a spacious tub) and a living / dining / kitchen area. The Lowdens are happy to advise about hiking trails, local activities, and good dining experiences, although I usually bring food and cook my own lunches and dinners in the well-appointed kitchenette (microwave, fridge, toaster, tea kettle, coffee pot, plates & bowls, flatware, napkins, etc). Gary does the dishes! For breakfast, the Lowdens provide a bowl of fresh fruit (apples, bananas, citrus, grapes), a basket of bread (croissants, muffins, or bagels with cream cheese), tea and coffee, milk, coffee, juice, half-and-half, etc. They bring the breads in the evening before so they're there whenever I want them, and the rest of the food is always available in the room. Lowdens seems to attract nice folks as guests, too. Cody the Dog and Mew the Cat are also a delight. They're willing to socialize outside, but know they're not allowed in guests' rooms. The house is situated at the mouth of the Winchuck river, and the views are always spectacular. The whole wall facing the sea is glass, so no matter the weather, the view is great. The blue room also has a lovely view up-river. The balcony faces the sea, as well. Lowden's Beachfront Bed and Breakfast is my favorite spot for retreats, and I heartily recommend it to other writers and to folks who enjoy a beautiful, peaceful place to just be.

The most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. Great service and extra everything...Barbara shows you a cabinet full of 20 soft fluffy towels and says "use as many as you need". Fresh flowers in the bathroom along with an extra deep soaking tub and the shower has a long cord & massage head for us tall guys. A bowl of fresh fruit that is refreshed every day. I just wanted to mention a few of the small details that make this place so very special. Everyone comes for the amazing 180 degree views, but they come back for the details. Wonderful hospitality and the most beautiful area in the USA.

I stayed at Lowden's Beachfront Bed and Breakfast for 10 days during April of 2007. The view of the Winchuck River and Pacific ocean is absoluley incredible, and complimented with the gorgeous sunsets and breath taking scenery. The owners of the Bed and Breakfast are very kind people, with lots of information about the surrounding areas, "tourist attractions" such a caves, the Redwood Forest groves, horse back riding, and best of all fishing! ( which includes, surf, river and ocean fishing). Most importantly the suites are comfortable, clean and really well looked after. They are warm and safe ( I 'm a 22 year old gal on my first solo trip!). My stay at Lowden's Beachfront Bed and Breakfast was super rewarding, I am glad I chose their place for my holidays. I even walked their dog, Cody, on the beach every morning before breakfast. He loves to chase sticks! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away, and feel just as comfortable as they do at home.
