Nice home, good location, many nice amenities. Was a little taken aback by a Mexican type cuisine for breakfast. Otherwise, no problems.

Well-kept home and lovely hosts. Great breakfast and the room was spacious with a view, comfortable and clean. Nice touches, like some history of the city provided for reading. A lovely place to stay in Astoria. Would have preferred separate dining tables and that would be possible given the space, but not a reason not to stay there.

My wife and I spent a night in the River Suite on a getaway weekend. The sun room was an excellent place to relax, have a glass of wine and enjoy watching the river traffic. Location could not be better. 5 minutes walk puts you in the center of the town. Breakfast is everything you could expect and more. A little on the expensive side for a B&B. Maybe having a Wine Social for a hour in the evening would help to offset that cost and allow the guests to get to know each other?

Everything was lovely about our stay! Pam and David are terrific hosts who shared their historic home with us for two nights. They seemed to think of everything we would need to be comfortable. Our room was beautifully decorated, comfortable, and our breakfasts were delicious.

Fantastic room, friendly service, and food! And very reasonable prices. This has become our go-to place for a special weekend. We will return!

Wonderful house, wonderful inn keepers, wonderful food. All I can say is definitely a 5 star stay and would recommend to anyone and everyone. You can not go wrong staying at the rose river inn b&b.

Our room and en-suite bathroom were cleaner and more updated than other B&B's I've stayed at, but still had that cozy B&B charm. The homemade breakfast was very good, and the innkeeper was very nice. Would recommend.

Stayed in the Othello for 1 night. Comfortable room and larger than expected due to the large closet area for storing luggage. Great roll top bath and delicious home cooked breakfast. Baked feather bed eggs made a nice change from standard breakfasts and WS nice to share the table and chat to the other guests.

We fell in love with Astoria. The Rose and the River Inn contributed to this love story.

The hosts were wonderful. We spent two nights here on our honeymoon and we had a wonderful time. The room was comfortable (Rose Room) and it was a nice surprise to have the big tub. The reservation was a wedding gift from parents. Breakfast was delicious both mornings. She really knows how to cook a good meal. They were very friendly when asking for places to eat and things to do in town. We are from Salt Lake City, UT and are not accustomed to the humidity. It was a little hot sleeping at night as we are used to A/C. We had to prop the windows open and it left the room muggy during the day. However, it didn't ruin our experience. A definite must stay. We will be going back soon :) Mr. & Mrs. Martinez

Arrived in the rain, and we were so happy to be greeted by our most hospitable hosts. Our rooms had lovely river views, and each had a small sun/rain porch from which to enjoy the vista of the Astoria bridge and Columbia River. Breakfast was superb - a chili rellano casserole, fresh fruit and homemade lemon cake, with endless pots of excellent coffee. Dinner at Baked Alaska was a disappointing experience - nice food, very small portions of seafood (4 prawns, 4 scallops) for 2 of the meals, and service was perfunctory. Enjoyed our stay, and would definitely return.

We had a wonderful stay in Astoria. The breakfast was wonderful, the hosts very gracious, and the breakfast conversations were very informative.

The best place to stay in town. It was very cozy, comfortable, beautiful, and friendly. Definitely recommend it to everyone else.

Lovely house. Close to downtown. The Sunflare Room has a GREAT sun porch overlooking the river and ships. That room has a steeply-pitching floor, however (it's an old house on a hill), so be prepared for that. Overall a very nice place and well-run!

This was our second stop on our honeymoon trip down the coast, and I am so glad that I found this lovely B & B! Pam and Dave were so welcoming and helpful with suggestions on dinner and attractions. We had beautiful weather so we were able to do a lot in our one day of being in Astoria. We walked from the B&B to the historic Flavel house and the Oregon Film Musuem. The film museum was fun if you are a fan of the Goonies and want some merch to buy for friends or family. Then we walked all along the waterfront and had BBQ for lunch. At sunset we jumped in the car and drove up to the Column. Fantastic views!! The next morning, after a delicious breakfast made by Pam, we went on another walk and found The Goonies house. I cannot wait to come back to the Rose River!! Thank you for having us!

Dave and Pam were great! Upon our arrival, Pam gave us the rundown of all the neat things to do and see in Astoria along with easy directions. They thought of everything as far as accommodations go, and the breakfast was delicious. (The freshest fruit you could imagine!) We recommend staying at Rose River if you're staying in Astoria. We were in the Sunflare room, and it has a gorgeous view of the riverfront with the mountains in the background. You will enjoy your stay!

Pam and David are wonderful. They love what they do and it shows in every detail. The rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is amazing. Pam and Dave recommended fun things for us to see and some fabulous restaurants. We will definitely be back. Be prepared to fall in love with Penny Lane their cute we'll-mannered chihuahua.

The Inn has a beautiful garden with roses, hydrangeas, dahlias and more to great you as you walk through the white picket fence. The Inn is full of antiques and collectibles that Pam has collected over the years. Check out the Fiestaware in the dining room. Four of us shared the Inspiration Suite - the only suite on the third floor. We enjoyed sitting in our own sitting room, looking down to Astoria. We met other guests eating a full breakfast the next morning - delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

Pam and David were welcoming. Stayed in Sunflare room. Lovely Columbia River view from our porch, which attached to the bathroom. Bedroom snug. Could have used more shelf space in bathroom, and a better shaving mirror. Loved the fresh fruit for breakfast, and soufflé. All rooms were occupied during our Aug 2013 stay. Short drive to meals and all of Astoria's attractions.

One of the best B&Bs we've stayed in. A lovely house on a quiet corner only 5 minutes from the waterfront and main street shops and restaurants. Great view from our bedroom. Excellent breakfast. Urn for making tea and coffee early or late on the stairs. Attractively furnished and decorated. Friendly, helpful hosts.

We stayed in the river view room for our fifth anniversary, the same room we stayed in on our honeymoon. The owners still remembered us, and were very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, felt like a nice version of home, with a spectacular view and a claw-foot tub. Breakfast was wonderful, all vegetarian, and very relaxed. We took our time eating and talking with the other guests and the owners. We plan on returning on future anniversaries, and we hope they don't change a thing.

I would have given them all 5s except that they use chemical-ridden fabric softener on the bedding and towels, which is toxic to people with sensitivities like myself. It was so strong that clothes and bags and everything that we had in the room smelled of fabric softener when we got home! I would definitely stay there again and recommend them HIGHLY if they would refrain from using fabric softener. One of my favorite parts of the stay, however, was meeting and hanging out with their sweet little doggy Penny Lane. What a doll!!! I loved her!!! If you do not have an issue with chemicals, you will enjoy this place immensely.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry that you have sensitivities to fabric softeners. Most guest that stay let me know ahead of time of these types of sensitivities, so that I can prepare the room free of any softeners or air freshners.
3.0 on August 13, 2013
I had a nice experience here because the owners are nice, the breakfast was good, and it was a casual atmosphere. For my taste, the room was overly filled with "kitch" which others might find charming, and there was a strong odor from some air freshening spray which was dispelled by opening the windows. It was fine, but I doubt I would return.

The owners made us feel right at home which was important to us since this was our first time staying in a B&B.. The whole house including our bedroom, "The Rose Room", was extremely clean and totally free of undesirable odors.,,no bad smells, obnoxious potpourri, etc. We highly recommend the Rose River Inn B&B for your stay in beautiful Astoria, Oregon.

The Rose Inn is a wonderful B&B. David & Pam were very knowledgeable about the area and town history. I cannot think of a single reason for not selecting this Inn. My husband and I were extremely comfortable the four days we were in Astoria.

we stayed three nights and enjoyed the town with the history, views and location. within walking distance to the maritime museum, trolley and many restaurants in the downtown. two short blocks to fort george brewery with really good beers. pam and david really put a lot of time in keeping the gardens beautiful. breakfast was very good and filling and the room for the price and views was a great value in comparision to some of the hotels that were way more expensive. we wll be back.

The Rose River Inn is a 101-year old home located on hillside overlooking downtown Astoria and the Columbia River. It has four guest rooms upstairs, a comfortable living room, and a large dining room with an adjacent breakfast nook providing a river view. The property is well maintained and beautifully landscaped all around with amazing flowers. You'll notice a slight lean in the back of the house (probably been like that for decades), but adds to its historic charm. Pam and David were friendly hosts. They provided us information about Astoria and local area, as well as advice on where to go and places to eat. They kept the house very clean and served wonderful hot breakfasts complemented with a large bowl of fresh fruit and yogurt (on the side) every morning promptly at 8:30 (single seating). We stayed in the "Sun Flare Room" which offered a queen-size bed, a small bathroom, and best of all, a small sun room with a view of the river (only the larger "River Room" next door also had a river view). The bedroom had a small desk, where they had set out a dozen fresh red roses, chilled bottle of champagne, and four large, chocolate-dipped strawberries for our arrival (Romance Package provided for an extra charge); a small TV with cable access and a built-in DVD player (they have a large collection of DVDs to chose from if desired). There was no closet, but there were hooks and hangers along one wall to hang clothes on. The bathroom was small with a full-size tub & shower, a toilet, and a very small corner sink (but there was a table beside it to put your items on.) You park on the street, but we were able to park close to the house. Check in and out was quick and easy.

This is a lovely B&B. It is quiet with great water and town views. Our room had nice views of the water. The bed was a double and not a queen. The mattress was not great. However, the private sun porch was really nice. The Innkeepers were wonderful. The breakfasts were excellent. It was so nice of them to have coffee and tea easily available before breakfast. The other guests were very interesting and pleasant. We all seemed to enjoy lingering over breakfast wiht each other to chat. Astoria was a great place with a great deal to do within walking distance and the most incredible scenery and a short drive away. We had an exceptional dinner that was an easy walk from the B&B. The B&B gardens are spectular. Astoria was an easy drive from Portland.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Just want to correct you on the bed size. It is a firm queen bed. The headboard happens to be an old iron bed, back in the day was only a double size. But again the mattress is a queen.
3.4 on July 25, 2013
My friend and I enjoyed our stay. The property is close to many of the attractions and the innkeeper explained many of those upon our arrival. Rooms are clean. The arrival and eating schedule is set, but requests to change times (that are placed in advance) are accommodated. We met some nice folks at breakfast, as the dining tables are communal. All in all, we would stay again due to the relatively low rates that are charged, and the kindnesses of the innkeepers.

We stayed at the Rose River Inn B&B two evenings last week while in Astoria, and what a delight the place was. Before we even got out of the car, I was impressed with the house's welcoming beauty, so many flowers beckoning us to come on in, windows gleaming, paint shining, everything in great shape. Dave and Pam, the managers, were perfect hosts, helpful with suggestions of what to see and do, but they never felt intrusive. Our room was spacious and filled with light, and though it faced away from the river, we could still see the water from the side window. Downstairs where we ate mouth-watering breakfasts, the dining room opened to a wide picture window with the best view of the river's amazing expanse and traffic. All the rooms were decked out in antiques and Pam's collections-- statues, dishware, thermos bottles-- plus books and magazines to look at, tasteful furnishings all around. Outside we sat on the beautiful porch endowed with flowers, flowers, more flowers and lots of comfy chairs. Or, if we liked, we could pop around to the back yard, which offered a good river view, privacy, and yes, more flowers! Those were the fullest, happiest hydrangea blooms I ever saw! My husband told me while we were driving away, "Now THAT was a class act!"

My wife and I stayed here on our 14th wedding anniversary and couldn't have been happier! The room was clean, nicely decorated and I highly recommend the private sun porch. Excellent view of the river from our room. Highly recommended!

First time in Astoria and couldn't have selected a better place. B&B is very well done, the rooms are very comfortable, a large sitting room, dining room, porch and the most beautiful flower garden. What a wonderful experience when we arrived to see two deer in the back yard. The Inn is located in walking distance to many fine restaurants and attractions. Pam and David are great hosts and are ready to answer all questions. They serve a wonderful breakfast.

The gourmet breakfasts were superb! David, Pam and "Penny Lane" were welcoming & informative (Penny Lane -- their sweet pup was just welcoming. I'm sure she would have been informative if she could!) The home, over a century young, is colorful, bright, comfortably decorated and very clean. The location is excellent for easy access to restaurants, shops, museums, and the waterfront. We will definitely return!

We enjoyed our one-night stay at Rose River. The gardens were especially lovely at the time of year we visited. And the breakfast was one of our favorites from a nine-night trip that included several other B&Bs--the fresh fruit bowl was wonderful, the egg casserole yummy, and the special fresh-made guacamole was a special surprise.

I would definitely stay here again, the host and hostess are very pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the large assortment of free videos available for watching in the evening. The Inn is in a great location, easy walking to many restaurants and shops. We found Astoria to be quite interesting and would like to spend more time in this historic town.

We stayed ate Rose River Inn during the Crab and Seafood Festival and it was half the price of a comparable hotel room, but with a much better view. The room we stayed in had a nice-sized private bath, a fantastic sun porch overlooking downtown and the Columbia River, and a decent-sized bedroom. We did not stay for breakfast as we went razor clamming, so I don't know about the breakfast, but since I can't submit the review without a dining score, I gave it a 5. One thing I do know is that this is easily the best place we've stayed during our many, many visits to Astoria (for comparison we've stayed at the Cannery Pier Hotel in the Pilot House and a regular room, the Elliot, the Crest, the Holiday Inn, and one other B&B). Highly recommended!
4.6 on May 01, 2013
We really enjoyed the city of astoria and the Rose River Inn. The room was very comfortable, great view. It was a quick job to the path along the river for a run and we could walk everywhere in town. Food was really tasty in the morning.

We stayed in the River Suite. Everything was clean and neat and the view was beautiful! We enjoyed sitting in the sun room having coffee in the morning. The only drawback we noticed in our entire stay was that the room didn't have much option for hanging clothes. Everything else was wonderful. They have lots of movies to choose from if you want to stay in, and breakfast was healthy and delicious. We even took a walk one evening and enjoyed looking at the historical homes in the neighborhood. The price was a little higher than we would normally spend, but we will definitely stay again.

We had a fabulous stay at the Rose River Inn B&B - David and Pam were lovely hosts and our room was perfect. The house is beautiful and in walking distance of all of downtown Astoria and the waterfront. We enjoyed our dinner just down the street at Fort George Brewery, and a nice walk around the neighborhood, checking out the thrift shops and architecture. Pam also made a delicious quiche for breakfast! It was a great weekend away and the Rose River Inn is the perfect place for your next getaway to Astoria!

We stayed in the Sunflare Room during our weekend in Astoria and absolutely loved it. This room has a delightful sun porch with a wall of windows overlooking the river. It's a wonderful place to curl up with a book and a cup of tea! The bed was comfortable, and a faux fireplace in the room helped heat things up when it got a bit chilly. There is also a huge DVD collection downstairs that you are welcome to borrow from. Breakfast consisted of a bowl of coffee, tea, orange juice, fresh fruit, homemade quiche, and some kind of moist yummy lemon cake. All of it was delicious. Our hosts were friendly and gracious. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Astoria!

I cannot wait until my next stay at the Rose River Inn! From the moment my boyfriend and I checked in at the bed and breakfast, we felt so welcome and comfortable as the owners Pam and Dave greeted us, showed us around the establishment and our room (the Othello). They also have the sweetest and friendliest little dog; Penny Lane! There are a lot of charming details throughout the historic structure; from the vintage thermos collection in the entryway to a display of Fiesta Dishware in the dining room, and not to mention the beautiful views from the windows. The Rose River Inn is a very clean establishment, quiet, and the best hospitality and service - the breakfast was wonderful and my boyfriend and I enjoyed conversation with the other guests as well as the owners throughout the meal. Overall it was such a pleasant experience, and a sweet and memorable place to get engaged (!). Look forward to staying there to my next trip to Astoria.

What a fantastic find. I am a native Oregonian but never stayed in Astoria. The Inn was one of my favorite places I have stayed in the US. I travel a lot, but this place was like home. The house is a beautiful, warm, bright and inviting 100+ year old structure. David and Pam have done an outstanding job remodeling and decorating to the time. My room overlooked the river with large windows all around. The view was so much better than the website shows. It was very cold when I was there, down in the 20's at night, but I was NEVER cold in the house or my room. The temp was perfect. The best part was the morning when all the other guests joined in the living room and had coffee and chatted while Pam cooked up a wonderful breakfast. Fresh fruits, egg dish, and coffee cake was perfect. And just the right amount. Thank you Pam and David for creating such a wonderful environment for people to enjoy. I will definitely be back!

We stayed at the Rose River B&B to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The location was perfect to explore downtown Astoria by foot, and the owners were very friendly. The room was lovely but the walls were very thin. We could hear other guests and the owners talking, snoring, etc. throughout the house while in our suite.

We loved the people and the house. It was exactly what we were looking for. A short 3 block hike up the hill from town. Almost everything in downtown Astoria is within a 10 min walking (more like casual strolling) distance, which makes the location excellent. It’s quiet there and the people are super nice. The food was also good and lovingly prepared. Our hostess clearly enjoyed what she was doing. The only negative thing that I remember was the number of informative hand-printed instructions in the bathroom as a bit off-putting, from indicating a request to keep the lights off when not in use to how long to hold down the toilet handle; I’m sure there’s a lovely story behind them all. Next time we’re heading to Astoria, the Rose River Inn is definitely on our list to return to.

The Rose River Inn is in a perfect area of Astoria for walking the downtown area. Our room had a beautiful view of the Columbia River and a screened in porch so we were able to open our windows and get a wonderful breeze. Davis and Pam are the perfect hosts -- there when we needed them but definately non-intrusive. Just the perfect blend. The Inn itself is very charming -- full of antiques and collectibles. I enjoyed looking at Pam's collection of Fiesta Ware and her very unique Thermos collection. If we ever get a chance to go back to Astoria, we would definately stay at the Rose River Inn B&B again.

After 30 plus years in the hotel industry, I now choose B & B's when I travel for a more personal stay. Rose River is what a B & B should be. Clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated, lovevly gardens. By the time I entered the front gate I knew it was going to be the best B & B I had stayed at in a while. It was. If you are goint to Astoria-stay here.
5 on September 25, 2012
I really enjoyed staying here. My room was very warm and inviting, with lots of natural lighting. David and Pam were wonderful hosts, and I must say the best breakfast I have ever had at a B&B, and I've stayed in quite a few. David was very knowledgable about the area and pointed out a few points of interests that I gladly went to check out. I really hope to stay in Astoria again someday and would most definitely stay here again!

Stayed in the Othello room and was very pleased . The room was spacious and relaxing. Almost didn't get out of the clawfoot tub!! Breakfast was exceptional, and we enjoyed visiting with other guests. David and Pam were excellent hosts and their recommendation of a restaurant for dinner was very good. We would definitely recommend Rose River Inn B&B.

We had a very nice, romantic stay at Rose River. The house itself is beautiful along with enchanting gardens. The owners were so welcoming and helpful. The surrounding town of Astoria also shared in welcoming us and providing a cozy atmosphere. The breakfast was wonderfully home cooked and the large open windows provided a great view as we dined. We would love to stay here again!

My Fiancee and I drove up from Dana Point, CA to Astoria, OR to begin our lives together. We had a wonderful stay at a very affordable rate with Rose River Inn. Our room was HUGE with a window view of the Columbia and the river traffic waiting to head inland. Pam happily recommended breweries downtown and the inn was well-stocked with pamphlets and brochures of local places of interest. We will definitely use Rose River Inn whenever travel or vacation take us to Astoria!

We loved David and Pam's beautiful B&B! Our room was amazing and the breakfast was perfect. We will definitely stay there again.

Cute house with quiet well decorated rooms. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and the hosts did a perfect job. Would definitely recommend this B&B and plan to use it again next time we stay in Astoria.

My husband and I have never stayed at a Bed & Breakfast before but thought it would be a nice way to get a feel for the town. We were a little hesitant because we are fairly private people, but Pam & David were absolutely wonderful and made us feel very comfortable. We stayed in the River Room for 4 nights and loved it. Very comfrotable and clean. The breakfasts were great and we met some lovely people.

Would recommend to anyone, Astoria is a cute little town and the house is a couple blocks away from restaurants, shops, and the waterfront. Host & Hostess are extremely nice and the decor of the home is immaculate. Specifically recommend the River Suite for the amazing views!

A charming trip back in history. A warm welcome and friendly hosts, this will be a place we will return to! We stayed in the "rose' room and we were very comfortable. The breakfast overlooking the river was top notch. Thank you Dave & Pam for everything!

This was our very first time in a B&B. I have to say that my expectations were met and exceeded!!!! The owners were very nice and friendly and took suck pride in their establishment. They had helpful advise as to where to go to eat and sight seeing. I would go back there if ever I am in Astoria Oregon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at Rose River Inn. From our sun room, we had a great view of the Columbia River with its ship traffic and gorgeous sunsets. The breakfasts were delicious with generous portions that were the perfect size as a start for days filled with exploration. The Inn was within easy walking distance from downtown and the riverfront. Our hosts were very hospitable and knowledgeable about local history.

Pam and David are the perfect hosts. The yard is full of beautiful flowers... the house is charming and comfortable... the breakfast table and meal were 5star. We hope to stay again next year. Thank you Pam and David. Sandra and Ken Kimbrough

We love the Rose River Inn. It sits on a hill overlookign the Columbia River and downtown Astorai and is in easy walking distance to the downtown area. The gardens are stunning. All in all a very pleasant stay with breakfast not being one of those "in a week I'll be hungry again" but was enough for people to thrive working on the wheat harvest if needed. Astoria is the place to visit in Oregon if you are interested in Lewis and Clark. The first time we vistied here, we missed the Astoria Column. Don't miss it and be sure to toss a glider off the top. David and Pam are great hosts. This was our second time here, so we knew what to expect. We have stayed at perhaps 20 B&Bs throughout the midwest and west. The Rose River is certainly in the top 3-4 of those we have visited. We made a destination of it the second time we visted Oregon. We suggest you do too.

My wife and I spent one night at the Rose River Inn while touring the Oregon Coast. The location was perfect, close to downtown. The hosts had great local recommendations as well as suggestions for Pacific City, which we visited the following week. The rooms aim to be period themed and are comfortable. We would stay again.

Pam and Dave were wonderful hosts and knowledgeable about the area. Their attention to detail made the stay very pleasant. From the luxurious bathmat to the scrumptious bedding, the Rose River Inn provided a great get-away. A note to gluten-free travellers: breakfasts were completely safe and very tasty. Pam understands the dietary requirements very well. Also: no sugary breakfasts at the B & B! Healthy, satsifying breakfasts to start an active day off well!

We were fortunate enough to enjoy the bounty of the garden this August. The most essential elements of a B&B were superb: the linens were supple, the rooms were fully equipped and clean, and the breakfast delicious. Very pleasant hosts.

This was our first stay at a B&B, and we were delighted! We loved the close walking distance to the river front, and old town areas, restaraunts and shopping. The lovely victorian home was comfortable and clean, with a delicious breakfast served by our hosts. I would encourage anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable place to stay, to check out this Bed and Breakfast! We will come and stay again!
4.4 on August 14, 2012
We only stayed one night, and wish we'd had time for a longer stay. Very friendly, and in a great location for wandering around town. Very helpful information, such as the fact that the Tram has a website with it's current location plotted on a map, the best place in town for a hoppy IPA and a referral card to a winery that saved us the $10 tasting fee). Breakfast was very good too!

this b&b was a truelly wonderful place that made us feel at home. the room is decorated with love for details, the garden was in full bloom, breakfast was very good - only the bathing tub was inconvenient for showering. the location is very good, too. the hosts were wolcoming and took good care of us.
5 on August 10, 2012
My boyfriend and I were on a tour of the west coast for my "before I turn 30" birthday. Rose River Inn B&B was definitely a highlight of the trip. It was clean, quiet, close to entertainment and the owners were very personable, gracious and had extensive knowledge of the area. The breakfast that Pam provided was a contender for the best meal we had our entire trip! If we ever return to the area, we will absolutely stay there again.

We have stayed at many B&Bs in Astoria, and this one is by far our favorite! Very nice and clean house, great food, warm and friendly innkeepers, and fantastic location close to town .... All that at a reasonable price, it can't be beat!!!

I booked this location mainly due to the price (very reasonable) and was very pleased with the place. The rooms are spacious with a lovely soaking tub. It is close to several pubs/breweries and the famous Astoria Column. The food was good and all the fruit was locally sourced and top notch. Highly recommended.

4.0 on July 30, 2012
This cute B&B isn't the fanciest place, but that's just what makes it so adorable. Antique details mix with modern-day comforts to welcome well-healed and working class travelers alike. Details like a huge DVD collection, breathtaking views of the bay from the dining nook, claw foot tub in my room, and healthy, tasty breakfast with kick-butt coffee made my stay as cozy as a stay at my fairy tale gramma's house. Bonus: you are kitty corner from a nearly haunted old house. Details inside your room!
5 on July 28, 2012
We had the top floor unit (Inspiration Room) which was large, quiet, and comfortable. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. The unit had a little sitting area, with a partial view of the Columbia River. The food was outstanding (loved the gluten-free muffins!). The Rose River Inn was about 4 blocks from the waterfront area, which made for lots of options for walking and enjoying Astoria. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

5 on July 23, 2012
This was my girlfriend and I's first B&B experience. The room was comfortable with character, David and Pam were very friendly and helpful with suggestions on bike trails and neighborhood activities, it was the same price or less than the hotels I looked at and the breakfast was fantastic! I've never liked keish but Pam is a miracle worker and made one of my favorite breakfast's ever. I would stay here again in a heart beat and I will suggest it to everyone I know.

From our initial greeting to our final goodbye, our stay at Rose River was nothing short of fabulous! We thoroughly enjoyed David and Pam's company and recommendations to sites, restaurants and after dinner selection for the Voodoo Room. Highly recommend! G&V Onyett
5 on July 15, 2012
The Sunflair room with the sitting porch looking out over the Columbia River was cozy, comfortable and beautiful. The house was quite (although all rooms were booked during our stay) giving us the opportunity to begin our weeklong trip thru Oregon with a much needed rest. Pam's breakfast was outstanding, her guacamole could win grand prize at the Avocado Festival, and we're from the Avocado Capitol of the world! Both Pam and Dave made great recommendations for things to see and do around Astoria and the recommendations for dinner were great! All in all a wonderful place to spend some time.

The benchmark for any B&B is whether or not it lives up to advertised expectations. The Rose River Inn meets or exceeds expectations in every respect as to location, condition, landscaping, owners, and meals. We would gladly choose this Inn again if we're in the area.

4.0 on June 19, 2012
We had a lovely room with a river view on the second floor in the back of this 100-year-old home. The property is beautifully maintained, with blooming roses all around and wide porches in the front and back. The only impression that was anything but positive is that the owners have placed small signs around the room and bath about so many rules that it made us feel slightly uneasy. To be fair, the Dos and Don'ts are all reasonable expectations of any guest, such as " turn off lights", "tuck in shower curtain", etc. However it left us feeling like it was difficult to just relax. One wonders if the innkeepers have had many bad experiences with other guests. From this inn, you can walk to great restaurants, interesting shops and take in the waterfront of Astoria.

I am so glad we made the decision to go with a B&B for our stay in Astoria as part of our Oregon Coast road trip. Not only was the place absolutely adorable and charming, it was a much better value compared to the other hotels in the town and my husband and I loved feeling like we had a cozy home base to go back to after exploring all that Astoria had to offer. It's located on a quiet hill with an unbeatable view and is just up the street from the best microbrewery in the town. The proprietors are warm and friendly and have the best recommendations; Pam recommended the best places for us to eat (and enjoy local beers) not just in Astoria but at our next few stops. We were able to walk around and really get a sense of the neighborhood and felt almost like honorary residents by the end of our trip. The breakfasts were fantastic and the amenities exceeded all expectations. We will definitely be back as we adored Astoria and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Definitely the best place we stayed over the course of our whole trip.

We stayed at the Rose River Inn B& B on our first trip to Astoria Oregon. Not only were the owners very helpful and extremely nice but we met some wonderful people from all over the world. We truly had a memorable and refreshing anniversary. Thank you for making our trip so lovely. They were so kind as to call us to let us know we had left behind items. What a nice surprise and heartwarming experience.

I brought my love to Astoria for the first time in her life and we stay at the rose river. The hosts were nice enough, the room (othello) had a great view of the column and the creepy frick house across the street (which I suggest you walk around with a camera like we did. Its within walking distance of nearly everything but super close to blue scorcher and fort george. Cheap and simple win.

It's obvious as you walk up to the house that it's received tender loving care, from its white picket fence to the comfortable chairs on the porch. Then, Pam and Dave open the door with their welcoming smiles and you feel like you've come home. My suite was beautiful and I slept like a baby. The neighborhood is attractive and the interesting downtown is just a stroll away. Breakfast was good, especially Pam's homemade guacamole. I was truly sorry to leave this wonderful B&B.

Pam and David are wonderful hosts, and this was our second stay at the Rose River Inn. We had a wonderful room with a delightful sunporch facing the Columbia River -- made better by the fact that it was sunny throughout our stay. The breakfasts are incredible, and the room extremely comfortable. We will return for another visit.
3.4 on February 27, 2012
The hosts, house, rooms and extra touches (coffee at 7 am, robes, wine glasses in room) show that the affable proprietors work hard to maintain their reputation. Price is average for the area and walkability to downtown Astoria is excellent. The only options for breakfast for our dietary needs--arranged in advance (vegan)--meant that breakfast was plain oatmeal, and we would rather have had a few dollars off the room price and gone elsewhere for breakfast. Otherwise, highly recommended.

We found this B&B to be a most comfortable stay. The owners are friendly and have a very good sense of design and quality. If you are desiring time to relax we so recommend Astoria and the Rose River Inn. The inn's location is perfect for walking. A drive to the ocean is close with even a short trip to Seaside. We had such a wonderful time and look forward to returning. We highly recommend David and Pam's Rose River Inn.

The Rose River Inn was a cosy refuge from the cold windy town and our hosts were very welcoming and provided fantastic, quiet accommodations with great views. They offered us valuable information and tips for our future travels and entertained us with some town history. Overall it was a welcoming experience and very affordable. The breakfast was good but light.

This is a fantastic B&B. Pam and David are SO nice and accomodating and the room was emaculately clean. Tea and hot cocoa available throughout the day on the stairs, which I loved! They have a HUGE selection of DVD's which was perfect for the night we arrived b/c it was raining and stormy so we snuggled up with a fire, hot chocolate and some movies! Breakfast was really good, we are not super big fans of quiche, but it was very good for quiche. They also serve a heaping bowl of fresh fruit before the main dish and it is fantastic! The room we stayed in, the Rose Room, I believe is the only one with a fireplace and we loved it. Views from the room are of a neighborhood but there are cool houses everywhere so we didnt mind. Lots of cool old nick knacks and stuff in the living and dining rooms. All around - a fantastic place to stay!

Very nice B&B and Inn Keepers. Nice room with a private porch overlooking the water. We hit a cold period in Oregon so the room was a bit chilly for Floridians. Inn did provide a Electric Heater which helped a lot. Breakfast was great. Overall, a great experience. If we get back to Astoria will stay there again.

It's always a pleasure to stay here! Pam & Dave are hospitality personified. The rooms are so comfy, nice touch w/ the wine glasses and corkscrew! Great bed and breakfast in a fantastic historic neighborhood. Stayed here for a night while traveling through the area with my sister on vacation. We had the spacious attic suite. We stayed a night with Pam and David at their beautiful B&B in Astoria, OR. The room was gorgeous with a view of the Columbia River that was unbeatable! Their hospitality was the best we have ever had at a B&B. David greeted us outside and helped carry our luggage in and up to our room. They were helpful in every way and fun to talk to about owning a B&B. Breakfast was delicious and so filling! Everything you need in Astoria is a short walk from the house so there is no need to drive once you get there. We would definitely go back and hope to make this an annual event. The third floor "Inspiration" room was spacious, offered a beautiful view from the bathroom tub (simply needed to fold back the shower curtain enclosure), was cool and refreshing by opening the windows and running a single fan on a unusually warm weekend in Astoria. Beautiful landscaping and flowerbeds on the property. In summary, a great B & B value . But, most important, this particular room (the only room on the 3rd floor) offered great privacy for this romantic couple.

We stayed at Rose river B&B for only one night, however our experience was extremely positive. It is an old fashioned house with down to the bear claw bathtub. It is located just a few blocks away from down town Astoria, and is even within walking distance to the Goonies house for all of you fans out there. The bed was super comfortable and coffee and tea were available at 7am. The breakfast consisted of a bowl of fresh seasonal fruits, followed by a DELICIOUS vegetable quiche, and some coffee cake. We met some people who had been there for 3 days and they said the breakfast was great every morning. I would recommend Rose River B&B to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in Astoria.

My friend and I started a bike tour of the Oregon coast from Astoria, and our first night was spent at the Rose River Inn B&B. It was just lovely and perfect, the hosts were very nice and super accommodating, providing secure storage for our bicycles. The breakfast was to die for!! We felt lucky we found such a wonderful place to start our trip.

This is a very nice inn and we enjoyed the friendly Innkeepers. We were able to see much of Astoria as the Inn is centrally situated. Our room was very clean and the little sitting room off the bedroom was great for enjoying a glass of wine overlooking the Columbia River. We would definitley recommend this Inn to others.

This was our first stay in a B&B. We arrived later than expected and Pam and David were still happy to see us. We enjoyed sitting on their porch surrounded by beautiful flowers and talking about the "haunted house" across the street. Make sure you meet Penny Lane, who was a wonderful hostess! We will be back!
5 on August 09, 2011
This is an incredible gem of a B&B. The hosts are both delightful and warm and the home is so beautiful and just has the right feel for us, not too fussy, but a true B&B experience. Clean beyond all expectations, great sized room and soaking tub. We stayed in Rose but I can imagine they are all as wonderful. This town is a great place to stay and THIS is where you should plan your room:) p.s. penny lane in her bumble bee sweater is the cutest thing ever!

Friendly and helpful hosts knew the history and area well. They offered good suggestions for activities. The house is a couple blocks off the main street so it was very quiet at night even on a weekend.

Rose River Inn, was a great choice for us. David and Pam are very welcoming when you arrive, they ensured we had everything we needed and made great suggestions for dining out and what to check out while in Astoria. Great location to downtown and Fort George Brewery/brew pub. Set up was a little quirky with their different collectible items, but added to the charm of the place. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms were comfortable and well stocked with all the added extras. Would definately stay here again!

Rose River Inn is one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in. The house and the incredible flower garden is beautiful. Our Inspiration suite was spacious, cozy, private & quiet. We enjoyed playing games on the front porch. The river view from the dining room is pretty. The breakfast was amazing-a bowl of a variety of fresh fruits, individual quiche, and coffee cake. The owners are friendly and gave us excellent service. The inn is a close walk to town. We'd definitely return and highly recommend it to others!

The Rose River B&B was a perfect spot for my wife and I to spend our 1st anniversary. The hosts were most welcoming, and the rooms were among the most comfortable I've ever stayed in. The only thing that keeps everything from being 5-star diamonds was that quiche was served for both breakfasts we had. While it was delicious both mornings, a little variety would have been nice. But truly, for everything else, we couldn't have possibly asked for more. We'll definitely come back!

The Rose River Inn B&B in Astoria is very quaint with lots of antiques and collectibles. Always something to look at. We really liked our roomy top floor suite. The location was great with walking distance everywhere to downtown, museums, etc.

My husband and I really enjoyed the two nights we spent at the Rose River Inn. The owners are the greatest. They really enjoy their guests, and you feel you're a guest when you're there. It was very pleasant meeting the other guests at breakfast. The location could not be more perfect. Highly recommended!

Great view of the river and town. Roses and garden were excellent. Quiet. Unobtrusive hosts. Parking right in front. Would have preferred bars of soap rather than liquid, but otherwise the basic maintenance items were fine. Breakfast area is very pleasant.

My husband an I stayed in the River room (overlooks Colombia river with a wall of windows with GREAT views!). We were very pleased with our stay. We even got to watch the 4th of July fireworks from our bedroom! Pam and David (inn keepers) were extremely hospitable and very knowledgeable about the area with great suggestions for restaurants and things to do. She even offered me her umbrella and jacket one morning when it was misty outside. The Rose River Inn was very clean and quiet. It was a perfect and relaxing stay. They have almost 800 DVDs to chose from if you want to "check out" any! Each morning they have a community breakfast served in their dining rooms, which was actually very nice. We will definitely return if we're in the area again.

I was very satisfied with our stay - everything was as described on the website, and I felt the price was reasonable. The owners have maintained the old character of the house, but have updated features like the bathroom so it doesn't feel old/musty. I like that they do online reservations - makes it easy to see what rooms are available. Comfortable, quiet room (we were in Othello, I believe), and the owners have thought of all the extras you might need (extra towels, robes, cotton balls/q-tips, lotion, wine opener/glasses, etc). Our room had a bathtub with a spray attachment - the website lists which rooms have a full shower if that matters to you, but the bathtub was very nice. The location is great - you can walk to nearly anywhere in the downtown area easily, and it is just blocks away from the Fort George brewery & Blue Scorcher bakery. Breakfast was excellent - the best fresh fruit plate I've ever had plus a tasty baked egg dish w/veggies & cheese, followed by small pieces of moist banana bread & as much coffee as you can take. During your online reservation, you can make requests if you have any dietary issues (we are mostly vegetarian), so the owners can plan accordingly. I really can't think of anything negative about our stay. It is an older house, so noise could be an issue depending upon other guests & their comings & goings. If you plan to have a rowdy, drunken night out, this probably isn't your place. If you're seeking a peaceful place to stay, in close distance to awesome Astoria restaurants, and a delicious breakfast, I highly recommend this place.

Everything was perfect! The room was very comforting after a long day of travel and the innkeepers provided great hospitality with breakfast and local sights.

There were too many 'do not do x' rules and a sense that we had to adapt totally to the proprietors. No sense of being welcome. It was nice enough but I would not return.

I've just spent 3 nights at the Rose River Inn. The location, food and room all exceeded expectations. It was the perfect spot to stay while I was in Astoria for a music program.

If you wan t to see the river traffic and also be within walking distance of downtown Astoria plus have extremely knowledgeable and friendly hosts with outstanding breakfasts - this is THE place to go! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will go again and again. You can't go wrong with the Rose River Inn.

Excellent value. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated . The B&B is within walking distance to Downtown Astoria and the Maritime museum. The neighborhood is quiet with a city confidential story line involving a once prominent Astoria family. Dietary needs are cordially met. The one negative would involve other guests, who might not adhere to the TV Volume level rule, Which is clearly communicated to each guest. If the Tv is turned above level 20 other guests can hear it through the 100 year old walls . We found them on the internet at the last minute. looking forward to staying with them again. Happy 200 to Astoria , Oregon

We stayed one night in Astoria to attend the crab and wine festival. We've been to Astoria several times already and love everything about it. We were pleasantly surprised with the Rose River Inn and will be sure to stay there in our return trips. The host and hostess were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was amazing. The room was quiet and welcoming with a large bathtub, distilled water a DVD player and an enormous collection of DVD s. The bed was also very comfortable.

We stayed at the Inn for 2 nights. It was relaxing. The breakfasts were just right and delicious. We stayed in the River Suite. We used the room's sun porch a lot. It has a great view of the water and downtown. The room also has a shower/tub combo. I really liked the convenient location to everything in downtown and along the waterfront. Also, the Fort George Brew pub is only a block away. The owners were great to talk to, and I fell in love with their cute dog, "Penny Lane". Adorable and doesn't bark. I will stay there again next time we visit Astoria. It's a great Oregon town. A lot of history and people who care about their community.

The Rose River Inn was the best last minute decision I've made in a long time :) the hosts were very friendly and helpful without being overbearing, the room was sweet and quaint without being kitschy (and had a little gas fireplace, an enclosed private deck and a clawfoot tub, mmmmm) and the breakfast was awesome. The owner's little chihuahua, Penny Lane, is super cute too and loves to cuddle. The room looked a little bigger on the website, but hey, it was a great room nonetheless. The B&B itself is really conveniently located; we walked up to the Column and down to the sort of main drag part of Astoria for dinner and to poke around some bookstores, and both were within walking (OK, hiking for the Column) distance of the B&B. The breakfast was great too. We sat in a sunny little breakfast nook with another couple from Portland and sipped coffee, tea and juice. The breakfast consisted of fresh fruit and berries, a really good baked egg frittata-like thing with cheese and veggies, and coffee cake. Excellllenttttt. Yay!

We love the Ophelia room with the clawfoot tub and cozy bed. Pam and David are so sweet and not invasive at all. The house is perfectly situated in town, breakfast is the best breakfast I have ever had at a B&B, and the price is totally reasonable. Highly recommended.

A wonder surprise find. The room we had was perfect (inspiration room) beds were very comfortable, bathroom had space and the sitting area was very comfy during the 6 hour storm that passed through. Breakfast was very well done and even dealt with food allergies with no bother (which was a wonderful change). Host were gracious and knowledgeable. Location is perfect, close walking distance to so much.

My husband & I first visited the Rose River Inn B&B shortly after we were married in 2006. We've since been back every year, due to the great rooms, reasonable price, and, most importantly, the fantastic breakfast and even more fantastic innkeepers. Dave & Pam are such great hosts; so welcoming (and such great cooks!). The rooms are great (we've stayed in most of them by now), and the location is fantastic. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Astoria; there's no way there could be a better experience OR a better price.

Rose River Inn was a fabulous place to stay. We were only there one night, but wanted to stay more. The Rose Room was perfect for us. The food was delicious and the host and hostess were marvelous. They sat and chatted with us and let us know some great places to eat and visit while in town. Kudos to running a great operation.

If you want to stay at a place that is like home away from home (and even more so), has gourmet breakfasts to-die-for, and is run by two of the most hospitable people on the planet--The Rose River Inn is for you! We have stayed there several times, each time in a different room. Pam and Dave Anderson are the most gracious, pleasant hosts we've ever met. From the charming antiques that grace every nook and cranny, to the spectacular view of the Columbia River in the breakfast room, to the comfortable and well-furnished rooms, we give this establishment a 150% rating of OUTSTANDING!!!!

A beautiful B&B very close to the heart of Astoria. The hosts were very friendly, the breakfast excellent and the rooms nicely decorated and clean. Our room had a very pleasant view of the Columbia River too. It's not the cheapest B&B, but you get what you pay for!

My sisters and I (3 of us) stayed at Pam and David's when we visited Astoria. The house is wonderful - immaculate, really comfortable. The third floor room was perfect for us - king bed and two doubles, great sitting area with 3 wing-back chairs, fireplace, books and magazines to read, huge bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower. Breakfast was very good - lots of fresh fruit, egg dish. Very close to downtown, so you can walk. Great view, and the gardens were lovely, nice deck out back. The hosts were great. I'd make it a point to stay there again if I were overnighting in Astoria.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on our second night of our week long trip down the Oregon coast. We were graciously welcomed by Pam and her little pooch, Penny Lane, also known as the sweetest dog ever. Pam made sure we had everything we needed, and informed us that she's around for absolutely anything. She also told us a bit about the city, what to see and where to go. The room had binders of information about Astoria and a list of about 300 movies which my boyfriend loved. They have a fridge which is open to guests, as well as access to the cozy living room and beautiful patio full of roses. Breakfast in the morning is full of all the guests, a great view of the city, and scrumptious breakfast prepared by the hosts themselves. Loved everything about staying here, and wish it could have been longer. Everything about staying here set a great tone to my boyfriend and my trip. Thank you thank you!
