Enjoy a stay in Seaside's oldest house. The Gilbert Inn, a Queen Anne Victorian and the historic home of Alexandre Gilbert, is located in Seaside, Oregon. Romantic Homes magazine called it "a haven for lovers." It is only one block from the Pacific Ocean beach, the "Prom" (Seaside's "boardwalk"), Broadway and its popular "Turnaround." The Gilbert Inn is a short walk from everything in downtown Seaside. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, offering guests a Seaside oasis. Once operated as a bed and breakfast facility, the Inn no longer serves food (room prices are lower to reflect the change). But numerous good dining opportunities are literally within a few minutes walk from the Inn's front door! Now you may dine where you want, when you want! The Inn's guest rooms each have a full private bathroom with tub and shower combination. Seeking to provide adults with a romantic, restful and restorative atmosphere, the Inn accommodates guests over the age of 18. The Gilbert Inn is a no pet and no smoking establishment. The Gilbert Inn is nineteen miles south of the Oregon and Washington border on the scenic Oregon coast. The eighty mile drive from Portland takes about an hour and a half. From Seattle the drive takes about three hours. You are encouraged to make reservations online at the secure website. My wife and I stayed two nights at Gilbert Inn celebrating 43rd anniversary. I would say that it was a very pleasant stay. Our host was very pleasant and helpful. Our room was very nicely decorated. The Gilbert Inn does not provide any food other than very tasteful cookies which is one thing we would have liked to have to complete a beautiful weekend.

Lovely place among the high rises.

We had a lovely stay at Gilbert Inn. The innkeeper was friendly and the house is inviting. Our room was average, but comfortable and nicer than I thought it would be from pictures. No breakfast is served, but we enjoyed walking downtown to a local coffee shop. Although it's a block off the ocean, this old historic inn sure does beat the condos and high rises that sit along Seaside's boardwalk. We highly recommend this inn in all ways.

    Best time ever! Regardless!

WE had one of the very best times yet! We will return for a much longer stay now that we found "our place". If I thought I could and it were for sale I'd buy it. Jeannie was the perfect hostess and very pretty too! Thanks for such a nice place to stay!

We stayed at the Gilbert Inn for 5 nights Dec 08-Jan 09 and it was an all-round wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations. Our room was immaculately clean, the bedding was luxurious, the breakfasts were delicious, the host was gracious and helpful, and the location was central to so many activities. After a day's outings it was lovely to sit in front of a fire in the Inn's living room, and sample Jeanie's cookies, which were made fresh every day. One block from the beach, and lots of great restaurants within walking distance. We will definitely be back. Linda & John, Vancouer, BC
