Enchanted Garden Suite

We stayed at Enchanted Garden Suite for our second time in late December 2011. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay just as much as our inaugural stay in December 2010. Margaret's breakfasts continue to be top-notch and Dave's assistance in suggesting day trips,, restaurants, etc., was invaluable. This is our home-away-from-home for our annual Portland trips. We hope to see you again in 2012! Thank you for such quality, comfortable hospitality.

The place was incredible, private, quiet, absolutely beautiful.....it was so perfect. The hosts were the best I could have asked for. I will definitely be staying there again.

The only disappointment with our stay was my wife not meeting Margaret and have a discussion about gardening. This was my #1 reason for selecting "The Enchanted Garden" for our stay in Portland. Even with this disappointment it was a great place to stay!

This is our absolute favorite B&B to stay at anywhere. Gardeners will love seeing the beautiful landscaping, the breakfasts are wonderful, the rooms and bed are completely comfortable. My friend and I had had a ruff day. Her purse was stolen at a tourist attraction and we were frantic. We arrived at the Enchanted Garden Suite with help from the Inn keepers. The B&B was exactly what we needed. The suite was beautiful and very roomy. A large separate bedroom and a lovely living room, with spare bed. A fully stocked beautifully tiled kitchen and a very nice bath. And to boot wine and cheese waiting for us. We felt very pampered and they destressed us almost immediately. Their grounds were lovely with little garden rooms to explore. What a joy!

Enchanted Garden Suite was the best B & B stay I've ever had. From the waterfall outside my door to the elegant yet cozy decor I was thoroughly delighted. Then, to top it off, each morning I was served a culinary dream for breakfast. I visited my son while in Portland and found the location of Enchanted Garden to be perfect. I hope to return.

WOW!!! This place was absolutely awesome. When we first arrived and pulled up front, my wife and I were not sure what to expect. We had just driven through the lush, rich and beautiful neighborhood as we approached the B & B. When we arrived, we were met by these friendly and extremely nice people. What could possibly go wrong here? Nothing! That's the point here-this place was flawless and absolutely awesome. As the inn keepers (Dave and Margaret) escorted us back to our private suite, our immediate environment became this collage of melting colors portrayed by the lush garden surroundings. It was like being embedded in one of Monet's paintings as this mist of exploding colors dazzled our senses. The suite was inviting, quaint, cozy, peaceful and definitely romantic in nature. This private suite is nestled in the middle of this glorious and luscious garden adorned with a multitude of flowering beauties and peaceful sounding water features. The food (excellent and extremely pleasing to the palate), service, and the hospitality of the inn keepers were nothing short of perfect. There is no doubt that when you leave this enchanted garden suite that all your senses will be aroused, uplifted, and rejuvenated. As for my wife and I, we are eagerly ready to return for more, and this B & B will undoubtedly be the only place we will stay when we return to Portland, Oregon. Thank you Dave and Margaret!!!! Dave and Margaret created an exceptional environment that far exceeded our expectations and after reading the reviews prior to our visit, I was concerned that our expectations were too high. Their attention to every detail from the beautifully appointed suite, the warm welcome, the delicious and beautifully prepared breakfasts to the magnificent gardens; we found the only drawback was leaving, but we we left inspired and look forward to returning to Enchanted Gardens soon.

This B&B is absolutely the BEST we have ever stayed in, with attention to every detail for our comfort & diet needs. The interior was beautifully decorated/updated & the lush gardens were an exquisite delight for the senses...even with fresh raspberries to enjoy! We’ve found no better B&B anywhere for comfort, privacy, quiet, and world-class breakfast cuisine. Hosts Dave and Margaret spared no effort to ensure that our every need was met. The suite was immaculate, the bed heavenly, the kitchen completely equipped with the latest quality appliances. We’ve travelled the world for over 50 years, and we can give the Enchanted Garden Suite no less than 5 stars in all categories.

what can i say, except that everything was perfect...not one tiny detail was forgotten; easily the nicest, most comfortable stay ever!!

Dave and Margaret went all-out to make our weekend in Portland something special. These people really love what they do. When we arrived, our apartment was nestled in the middle of their beautiful garden, and they had a tray of both sweet and savory snacks waiting for us, all lactose and gluten free for my husband ( including fresh baked brownies!). The room is outstanding, bed is lush and comfortable, kitchen stocked, bathroom clean with very high quality towels and even a towel warmer! The breakfasts were different all three mornings, and definitely of gourmet quality. All ingredients were organic and either sourced locally or from their garden. If you are looking for high quality relaxation with all the amenities of a B&B, stay here.

Margaret and David have created a beautiful B&B suite in a charming location. First of all, they are genuinely warm and kind, They are excellent hosts! I will definitely return for another visit! The apartment was cozy. I felt right at home. The snack when we arrived was very special, and our breakfast was superb! I have been to several B&B's both in the US and abroad. This is by far the best ever!

This was our first B & B experience and Dave and Margaret really set the bar high. Our experience was outstanding. Innkeeping at it's finest. The care and attention to detail was beyond our expectations. I would gladly recommend Enchanted Garden Suite to anyone looking for privacy and gourmet B & B in Portland. We can't wait to come back in June when the gardens are in bloom.

In a word, the Enchanted Garden Suite is extraordinary! We've stayed at numerous vacation rental properties and B&Bs in the U.S., Canada, and several European countries, and this place far exceeds any of them. If there were an indicator for "Innkeeper Intelligence", Dave and Margaret would handily reside at the uppermost end of the scale. We are so grateful, Dave and Margaret, for all the delightful and delicious breakfasts, all the helpful advice on our day trips, all the details you've not overlooked in furnishing the suite, all your care for us as your guests. We plan on retiring in the Pacific Northwest in about twenty years as we are committed to "doing time" in New Jersey until then. Enchanted Garden Suite will be our beacon within the larger beacon of the lovely Pacific Northwest until then. The Suite feels like our "home away from home" already after staying here this--our first-- time; we feel so connected to this accommodation and to our gracious hosts. Future guest tip: Old Highway 30 is so worthwhile. Stop at Horsetail Falls and bask in the magic and other-worldly-ness. In general, Oregon's scenic highways are utterly gorgeous and breathtaking. The bed and breakfast suite was wonderful. Dave and Margaret were very gracious and accomodating and even made a dinner for us when we let them know that we would be arriving late. Both were helpful with suggestions and tips for visiting Portland and enhancing our annual anniversary trip. The grounds are spacious and inviting, even in winter. A car is necessary to get to anywhere, since the B+B is not on pub transportation routes. We would definitely stay again.

Indeed, this place was our “home away from home” when we stayed here for two nights; it easily beats 5 stars hotel from our perspective. We’ve been spreading the good words about this place and encouraging our friends to pick this place if they are in the area. We certainly will meet Dave and Margaret again next time when we go to Portland. Oh, yes, the breakfasts, we took pictures of them; they were delicious and beautiful to look at. Just read other reviews, you won’t be disappointed if you pick this place for your next trip.

This was the last of four B&Bs/Condos that we enjoyed on our anniversary vacation. It was easily the best (and the others were very nice). The space was over the top comfortable (e.g., towel warmers). The Gardens were a thrill - particularly for my wife. But most of all, Dave and Margaret made us feel welcomed. Oh, and the breakfasts. Who could forget the breakfasts? And the location - perfect for the coast, wine country and the cascades. We will not stay anywhere else in Portland.

We went here on a romantic to Portland, not knowing anything about the B&B or Portland. However, within the first 5 minutes of arriving at The Enchanted Garden Suite and experience Dave's hospitality, we fell in love. I had talked with Dave in length prior to arriving at the suite, in order to get all of the details settled, and immediately I knew we would be well taken care of. I asked for a bouquet of lillies upon arrival, and when we arrived, one of the most gorgeous bouquets of lillies my girlfriend had ever seen were waiting for us. The weekend only continued to get better. The room was quiet, secluded, and we didn't have to deal with other couples like at other B&Bs, we had the entire place to ourselves. Each morning, a delicious breakfast was delivered to the kitchen, right outside of the bedroom door. Fresh squeezed juices, organic fruits, and delicious meats were just part of the amazing breakfasts. Dave was also more than willing to extol the virtues of Portland. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much for an amazing weekend.

I can't say enough to praise this place. The room is the best--it has every amenity. The garden is exquisite. The breakfasts are delicious and include a wealth of fresh vegetables and fruit. Had the pleasure of staying here for four nights in the month of May. Dave and Margaret's hospitality was truly outstanding, and the food was top notch! The suite itself was charming and extremely comfortable, and the surrounding gardens were beautiful - meticulously put together. If you're looking for a peaceuful, quiet (or even romantic) get away, you won't be disappointed with the Enchanted Garden Suite. Hands down the best B&B I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.

We made reservations for one night and stayed for three! The suite of rooms was so lovely, the food so delicious, the hospitality so great that there was no reason to leave. We were going to travel around Oregon for three days and once we arrived at the Garden Suite, it felt too good to leave. Walking around the gardens was like walking in paradise. I have a food allergy (gluten) and Margaret made spectacular breakfasts just for me. I have never eaten like this. I highly recommend. You will be glad you visited with Margaret and David.

Mark and Mary -- We found here a comfortable, necessary respite from our busy family and work lives. The space is lovely, well appointed and cozy. We felt at home right away. And the garden held the promise of cyclamen and hellebores. Margaret and Dave welcomed us and gave us the space we needed to relax. They responded to our dietary requests creatively and shared plant information professionally. We left refreshed and will return, if we are lucky, when the gardens are in full bloom.

We choose to stay in B & Bs whenever we travel so have experience from many states. The Enchanted Garden Suite is the best by far--delightful setting, delicious breakfast, accomodating hosts, ample privacy. We plan to return!

What a delightful experience. We were lucky to have stayed for four nights, you have to experience it for yourselves. The breakfasts with the European touch, and walking through the truly enchanted gardens made our stay so fabulous. Margaret's genius shows in every little detail. Margaret & Dave surely have raised the bar, other B&Bs may be a little disappointing.

We stayed here in July and the suite and Dave and Margaret far exceeded any expectations. Gorgeous gardens, friendly but unobtrusive Innkeepers, and absolutely the best breakfasts around. Having the kitchen was a real plus. Don't miss out!!

Unfortunatley our stay was for only 1 night. We could have stayed much longer. This place is beautiful, peaceful and feels like home and we did not want to leave. We felt like we were in own own private little retreat. The breakfast was delicious, the gardens so beautiful and the room was so tastefully done that I took many ideas home for my own home. I don't know if we will ever get the chance to come back to Portland, but if we do, I will be sure to stay here.

Having stayed at several Bed and Breakfast homes over the years I have to say this stay is our #1. If one wants a B&B where one has privacy of ones own garden suite, breakfasts found only on at the finest hotels all done with personal attention then this is the B&B for you. The accommadations can be best put as "cozy 5 star"... towels warmed near the shower, bath robes waiting by the bed, clean and artistically decorated. I would stay again in a heartbeat and suggest one reserve in advance as this B&B will soon have a large following by word of mouth.

You can't imagine how wonderful a bed and breakfast can be until you come here. The location is great: short trip to all the highways, near downtown. And the breakfast you get each morning: best food imaginable, you can't possibly finish it all, and you don't have to worry about buying lunch: it will keep you full until dinner. You have your own private entrance, a beautiful garden to relax in, a huge place, full kitchen / living room / bedroom, even a heated towel rack!! If you need more of an endorsement, ask him to get you in contact with Steve from Kentucky (that's me). You'll LOVE this place. Its huge, Dave and margaret are wonderful people, this is where you definitely want to be!!!!

We went to spend our anniversary and were delighted with the setting, the freindly service and the delicious food.

We stayed in Dec. and it was decorated with the most charming Christmas touches. The crepes in the morning were great and all the amenities were teriffic! Margaret and Dave are inkeepers who are very friendly but don't insinuate themselves on you if you don't want. The waterfall view from the bedroom and livingroom is just delightful. This would be such a delightful place to stay in spring or summer as Margaret is a nationally recognized garden designer and the plants around the place are wondeful. Great place to stay for a week because its convenient to downtown, and all the amenities such as the expresso machine are better than at home!

My stay at the Enchanted Garden Suite was so lovely. Every detail made this B&B one of a kind - From the linens, full kitchen and plasma TV to the heated towel rack in the spa-like bathroom. I would recommend this to everyone. Thank you!

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Enchanted Garden Suite. The décor is cozy and plush with beautiful furnishings. The garden and meandering paths are spectacular and bring a feeling of peace. The breakfast of fresh-baked European pastries and yummy fruit was scrumptious. No detail was overlooked in creating a pampered stay – from the fresh flowers, the snack of Dutch Christmas bread and sweet wine to the aromatic lavender bath products, towel warmer, and the ever so plush and comfy bedding. This is the perfect place to stay for anyone who enjoys nature, tranquility and cozy luxury!

Every detail is so thoughtfully put together, from the afternoon sherry and homemade stollen to the towel warmer and organic lavender bath products. The bed is heavenly and drifting off to sleep with the sound of the waterfall was perfect. Margaret's gourmet breakfast was almost too beautiful to eat - well, almost! Margaret and Dave know how to do it right and you will be so glad to have found this gem!
