Come stay in a hand-hewn home from the past, built in 1895, before electricity and indoor plumbing, when brave souls from Europe settled in Oregon, bringing their knowledge of shipbuilding, fishing, and logging to a wilderness teeming with salmon and forests! Tall wooden ships were built in the river right in front of the house, by master shipbuilder Emil Heukendorf, from Denmark, and his stepson Nels Nelson after him. The house has been in the same family for 100 years, and although it now has modern amenities, most of the structure remains the way it was when giant saws turned trees into lumber to rebuild San Francisco, sidewheelers took milk and passengers up and down the river, and the salmon were so thick, you could walk across the river on their backs... almost.
The Despatch has an antique brass full size bed with high thread count sheets, and a second full bed with soft mattress topper and soft cotton sheets. The Despatch room has an ensuite bathroom with soaker tub and shower. It has a lovely and private view of surrounding greenery out the window, a view of the river, as well as a western view towards the sunset. You are welcome to take your coffee out on the dock and enjoy the beautiful and peaceful scenery. Children and pets are most welcome!
The Wellesley is an East facing bedroom with ensuite bathroom, including an antique clawfoot tub/shower. The room features a queen bed with feather comforter in a high thread count cover, as well as a twin bed with high thread count sheets. There is a lovely view of the river which is right across the road. You are most welcome to go out and sit on the dock and commune with nature.

10 Grain Waffles
I start with Bob's Red Mill 10 grain waffle mix and add farm fresh eggs, organic milk, and real maple syrup, topped off with organic butter. Best waffles in the world! (if I do say so myself).
