McGee's was a great place for a get-away. Perfect location - walking distance from everything but also nice and quiet. Service was great; staff friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable, clean, and nice, but the bed was VERY hard. Some probably love it that way! We'd go back in a heartbeat.

My husband and I recently stayed at this wonderful inn. It is within walking distance to the Byward market and the little Ottawa theater. Great value for the price and the breakfast is to die for. I loved the decor and the collection of memoribilia. I would defintely stay there again :)

Never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast, until January 31, 2014 when we stayed at Auberge McGee's Inn. We loved it..the room was clean and tastefully decorated. The owner Judy was friendly and made us feel at home. The breakfast she prepared for us was awesome. We plan on making this an annual visit.

This is a wonderful B & B in a great location in downtown Ottawa. It was our second visit. The decor is great with lots of antique furnishings and the service and breakfast is excellent. This time it was extremely cold in Ottawa (-25C) and the room was cold as the old house could not heat it adequately.

McGee's Inn was run by a delightful staff and the breakfast was delicious. The room was mid size but the true treasure was the body spa steam shower in the washroom. Parking was available but not many spots and easy to get blocked in. Although it is a lovely hotel with very friendly staff it is very expensive so good for a romantic getaway, anniversary or special occasion not just any night. Overall a very beautiful place to get away :)

The Aberge McGee Inn is an absolute delight. The gorgeously appointed rooms are so comfortable and unique. We loved our big enclosed balcony! The decor of vintage furnishings and knick knacks takes you back in time but without sacrificing modern expectations of comfort. The food and service were simply outstanding and we considered the stay a far better value than any local hotel we'd stayed in before. And the location is excellent. Just a short walk to downtown, the canal and parliament. All five of us loved it and we'll be back.

The owners and staff at McGee's make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. We enjoyed every aspect of this property. Great location, close to the market and central to the city hub. Our room was small but very nicely decorated. We were on the second floor and heard the upstairs guest walking around, which is to be expected in a heritage building. We will definitely visit this inn for many years to come.

My husband and I were in Ottawa to attend an event at Notre Dame Cathedral. We were overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the innkeeper (Judy) and staff (Noelle & Rebecca) at the McGee's Inn! We highly recommend this B&B for not only the close proximity and walking distance to the Byward Market and other attractions, the exquisitely prepared breakfasts were out-of-this world! The service we received by all the staff was top notch! We will return next year for sure!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Auberge McGees last week. My daughter was unwell whilst we were there and we were made to feel completely relaxed about being in the house during the day to look after her and were able to buy food locally to eat on the beautiful terrace so we didn't have to leave her alone. Easy walk to Byward market and to the lovely parks along the river. The house is very comfortable and the dining room is quirky and the breakfasts and service was great. Highly recommend!

We will return again at this marvellous place. The location near the Market, restaurants and boutiques, smiling service, delicious breakfast and charming room are the jewels of this auberge. And we had very good breakfasts in a beautiful dining room. Something to change? Little paper cups in the bathroom, glasses should be the rule. 3th visit, 4th is coming.

Congratulations and a huge thank you to the Armstrong family for providing exceptional service and hospitality during our stay in Ottawa, Canada. This elegant beautiful historic building displays an authentic quality of the furnishings, decor and ambience most would expect in a B & B. They went above and beyond what I would normally expect from B & B owners. Nothing was too much trouble and they were keen to offer their local knowledge on places to eat, visit, etc...I would highly recommend McGee’s Inn and can categorically say that it was fantastic value for money, the facilities were top quality and I cannot recommend the breakfast highly enough. Thank you so much for making your home feel like ours! The Amaral Family

Spent last weekend in Ottawa at McGee's Inn. We were attending a wedding and stayed at the Inn with 6 other family members. Location was great. I stopped in on Canada Day weekend and I was pleasantly surprised by the service. I went in expecting a comfortable room, which I got, but I also had some outstanding food. They even had live entertainment which rivalled that on Parlament Hill. I will definitely return.

In July I stayed at Auberge McGee's Inn for 5 nights. There are a lot of B&B's to choose from in Ottawa and I think this has to be one of the best. If you like looking a collectables from the past this is the place. The John McGee room feels like you have walked back in time, nicely decorated and very clean with a comfortable bed. You choose either an 8 am or 9 am breakfast with fresh fruit, juices, coffee or tea offered daily along with a "special of the day" omelet or pancakes. Not being familiar with Ottawa is no problem as your hosts will give you a wealth of information for your visit and even though I am in my early 70's I found the walk to Byward Market and most other city attractions to be easy. Parking is available on the property but will cost $7:50 per day.
4.4 on July 22, 2013
My husband and I had room 18 with the porch. The porch was key. We enjoyed the rocking chairs and it was like having a second room. We sat out in the mornings and read and listened to music at night. The Inn was charming and we felt at home. It was within walking distance to most if not all attractions in the city. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was good. I would stay again.

Great location, comfortable surroundings and awesome breakfast. Everyone was very accommodating . The place is spotless! My BFF and I shared the 2 bed room. It was perfect. Loved the Tiffany Blue decor! We were visiting our children (now living in Ottawa) and were able to invite them over to enjoy wine and apps on the outdoor courtyard . Easy walk to the Byward Market, Parliament Hill and the downtown. We even did free yoga on the Hill on Wednesday. We did tons, but always felt like we were going home to a comfortable welcoming place. This was my 2nd time staying at McGee's Inn and definitely stay again !

Beautiful clean rooms in a historic building, originally built by Thomas Darcy McGee's brother. Each room is unique. Comfortable beds and bathrooms. Located in Sandy Hill, one of Ottawa's old residential areas. An easy walk to Parliament Hill, the Market, Rideau Street shopping, the Rideau Canal, and downtown. We have been staying at McGee's Inn for 7 years whenever we visit our daughter in Ottawa. Great consistent breakfasts and service over many years. We often have to arrive late because of Toronto traffic and the owners always are helpful.

Superb breakfasts, lovely front gardens. Parking was 'interesting'... double & triple parking, but cars were moved as needed (or towed!). Hosts were knowledgeable about the area, and very helpful. Inn is a Victorian house, so floors squeak/creak, and the house groans a bit (just telling you stories of times past). Mind you, there was an earthquake & aftershock (5.2 & 4.2 respectively), so that probably didn't help the old house's bones. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone without children (no idea if it's child-friendly or not, but the idea of tiny feet thumping along the floors & whatnot... not nice when sound is easily transmissible to other rooms), who appreciates true Victorian charm and quirks. I will definitely be staying again.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Auberge McGee's Inn for one night in April while visiting Ottawa. Location was a reasonable walking distance from the Byward Market and Parliament Hill. Beautifully decorated room, and having a private porch with the room we booked was a nice bonus! Staff was friendly and breakfast was good too!

As usual McGee's Inn staff was fantastic. We had some special requests to have an early breakfast and hearty oatmeal, fruits, yoghurts and coffee were ready by 7 am. The rooms were very clean. On Sunday again, the staff at Mc Gee's Inn were more than helpful as we asked for a late check out. I would recommend this inn to everybody who wishes to stay in Central Ottawa.

Main room no. 22 is lacking space to move around but adequate for sleeping. With the big screened-in poach on 3rd floor with a view over the Byward Market area, it was a great place to relax in the evening and enjoy the lights of the city. My wife and I enjoyed looking at the antique articles throughout the Inn. The service and the people working at McGee's Inn were great and accommodating. Their breakfast of 4 different choices were fantastic and more than the continental breakfast you get at other places. Even with the new $7.50 per day parking charge, it was cheaper than other places near by. My wife and I will definitely stay at McGee's Inn whenever we visit Ottawa.
4.6 on May 14, 2013
We came up from Western Ny for the Tulip Festival and were located within walking distance of everything. We stayed in room 24, the converted garage, though you'd never know it once held a car. It was a warm and welcoming room except for the bathroom sink light which did not function and the AC wasn't installed yet the weather was unseasonably warm. The B&B is located adjacent to the University of Ottawa and in early May, when the term ends, there is noise in the streets late at night. The service staff who prepare the food, serve it and clean up after visitors are outstanding and helpful. Food was wonderful. The classic old house is loaded with antiques and display vignettes to browse. Overall a wonderful stay and we'd do it again.

We stayed for two nights in April. It really is a very nice B&B and much much better value than most of the downtown hotels. Our room was large, comfy bed, working fireplace for cold nights, clean bathroom etc. We could not hear the other guests (thick walls). Good selection of breakfast items plus a coffee maker in the dining area for an early morning coffee or afternoon cup of tea, Paper and magazines to read in the lounge. Personable hosts. I would recommend it to anyone.

McGee's is a special little secret in an amazing location in downtown Ottawa. THe owners are perfect B&B owners. They will chat, but not intrude, and will accomodate any request, pleasantly. Lots of great history and interesting facts about this inn. The breakfasts are wonderful, and you would pay $20 per person or more, for equivalent at any hotel. Crepes, omelettes and the best Benedict ever. The only place we will ever stay in Ottawa. Perfect location for anyone visitinh kids at UofO.

We did a whirlwind trip from Guelph through Kingston to visit our son at Queen's and then our daughter in Ottawa, also at University, over the Easter holiday. Family from Montreal joined us. Being able to visit with a coffee/tea and cookies in the comfortable and welcoming living room at McGee's was a bonus! Judy is a dynamite host who made us feel right at home. I have to say, I appreciated having the off-street parking in Ottawa. It can be a real headache otherwise. It's those little conveniences that add up and make a stay away from home even more special. thank you..we will be back.

I always stay at McGees when visiting Ottawa. The staff are charming, and the decor lovely (the rooms are all well decorated in different themes). The location is easy (ie a ten minute walk) from the Byward market where there are a lot of restaurants, the breakfast is excellent at the Inn (and included in the price), all-in-all a pleasure.

Very nice stay at McGee's, very comfortable and clean room with a nice patio that would be perfect in summer. The room was quiet because located on the top floor in a corner, but many are located around the dining hall, which can be pretty noisy in the morning. The inn is well located, a 10 minutes walk to ByWard Market, and 5 to 10 minutes more to Parliament Hill.

The main focus of our trip was to tour the Ottawa U. Campus. This B&B was perfectly situated for that. It is also within easy walking distance of most major attractions in the downtown area. We walked almost everywhere including to skate on the canal, visit the parliment buildings, and check out the National Art Gallery. The ambience at the Inn was beautiful, relaxing and complimented the historical, artsy theme of our vacation. The Armstrongs have done a great job of updating the building without detracting from its original charm. Breakfasts were generous, nutritious, delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were cheerful and attentive. Our room was cozy, with all the expected ammenities of a larger hotel. We will certainly stay here again if we make a return trip to Ottawa.

Spent an amazing weekend in Ottawa. McGees is a beautiful place perfectly located to visit the city, even by foot. My fiancee and I stayed in room 24 for the extra privacy and modern decor. We got exactly what we wanted while still enjoying the unique style and comforts of the inn by popping in for breakfast (which was delicious). Thank you Judy and Ken and all the staff for your hospitality. We had a memorable stay and will definitely return! Alex and Sabrina Payne

I wanted a special surprise for my spouse for our third anniversary so I booked the Windsor room at McGee's. Our stay was excellent. The room was as it is on their web site. It was clean and had two luxurious robes in the bathroom. Very nicely decorated. The employees were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms that weren't in use were open and we were invited to take a look at them. Very unusual, but great as now we know which room we want to stay in next time! The breakfast was delicious. We highly recommend McGee's for anyone wanting a home away from home. You can even sit in the front room and chat with other guests or read.

The room was spic and span when we arrived, breakfast was delicious, and the service was exemplary. The only reason it's not fives across the board is that some of the fixtures in the bathroom (towel rack, toilet paper holder) kept either falling off or threatening to fall off. They weren't difficult to put back on, it was just kind of annoying. Other than that rather minor issue, though, McGee's Inn was exactly what I was looking for in a B&B. Will definitely use again!

This place was the perfect place to stay in the downtown Ottawa area. The room was wonderful and the breakfast delicious. Our only complaint is that we took the room which had a private entrance. Although that may sound inviting, we were able to hear the conversations of all passerbys on the street (house is on a corner). If that doesnt bother you the noise from your upstairs neighbour might. These are obviously isolated incidents that werent helped by our choice of room but I would still stay here again. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended by a day at the start of our vacation and were lucky enough to be able to come back to McGee's Inn at the end of the trip. Highly recommendable place to stay.

La maison et le site sont très beau. Nous avions la chambre 12 située face au stationnement et c'était très bruyant. Le personnel est très gentil et avenant. Le déjeuner aurait pu être un peu plus copieux. Un peu déçue du rapport qualité prix.

Small hotel in a calm residential area, only 10 walking minutes to the city center. The rooms and the breakfast area have a very personal touch. Very friendly staff. As it is an old house, there is no elevator.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at McGee's. The room was lovely and the food was very good. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Lovely room ( we stayed in room #19), very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our breakfasts were delicious, such a plus to have them included in the price. Next time we're in Ottawa, we'll be staying there for sure.

We had one of the two modern rooms, really nice and clean. Service was perfect. And the breakfast was absolutely delicious!! Close of everything: By Ward Market, the Parliament, etc.

Did not understand when I booked that this room was apart from the main building only that it had a separate entrance. Missed out on all the charm of this historical building. This room is decorated in a modern style completely different from the rest of the Inn. Breakfast was atrocious from the horrible coffee to the overly cooked eggs ,the cold toasts and the way past their prime fruits.

This bed and breakfast is true to its traditional appeal: the old home (complete with player piano!); outstanding service and downtown location.

We enjoyed our three-night stay from start to finish. A warm welcome; a charming room with modern conveniences (wi-fi and refrigerator); professional but friendly staff and a delicious breakfast.

My wife and I enjoyed our two night stay at the McGee's Inn. The room, and particularly the bathroom was larger than your typical B&B (Windser Room) and was very clean. Breakfast was outstanding - great omelets and crepes! The only drawback of the inn is that it is a few blocks from the market area - easy walking distance, but far enough away that you wouldn't just stop back at the Inn for a short rest.
5 on August 27, 2012
We enjoy the friendliness of the staff, the brightness of our room (Provencal style) and the small bathroom was was perfect for our needs. We were able to leave the car in the parking of the B&B (for free) and walk to every important place.

Our favourite Ottawa B&B - great location, walking distane to most attractions, every room different, but always interesting. The breakfast is always a treat - (Jason is the cook?) - the staff very attentive and enjoy a chat about themselves, the weather, Ottawa events, etc. We have been staying here since the mid-1980's - and look forward to another trip.

We stayed at McGee's years ago. It was a quality place but felt pretentious, aimed at and priced for the government and business classes. A few years ago it was bought by an innovative and very hard-working two-generation family who have replaced the pretension with warmth and a more informal kind of hospitality that we, who visit Ottawa frequently for pleasure, appreciate. We will be back.
4.2 on August 14, 2012
The inn is located in a quiet location but walking distance to the government buildings and the market. It's larger than many B&Bs but the service was excellent, room clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was outstanding.

My family had a wonderful stay at McGee's Inn. Excellent downtown location, very safe neighborhood. The best breakfasts I have ever had (loved the crepes!!!) Room was large, comfortable, very clean, nice private bath. We plan to return! Very highly recommend!

This charming & comfortable inn was a lovely spot to stay on our visit to Ottawa. Close to many of the sights and offering attentive and personal service. We would recommend it!

The Inn was perfect for our vacation: very well located, beautifully appointed rooms, very attentive and helpful staff, excellent food, plenty of hot water. The morning support staff could not be more pleasant and accommdating. Only thing missing was a house dog or cat for us travellers who miss our pets.

We recently stayed at McGee's Inn and had a lovely time. The entire Armstrong family and their staff made us feel like we were visitors to their home. They were also very helpful when we had some car trouble. It is a great convenient and homey B & B close to Ottawa's major attractions. You can't go wrong by staying here. Thanks for making our B & B experience such a memorable one

This is the third time my wife and I have stayed at this wonderful, and historic Canadian bed and breakfast. We like to stay in the John McGee room, but all the rooms look very nice. The ensuite bathroom is well designed and has great water pressure. Air-conditionning, small fridge in the room, very comfortable bed. The breakfast is always first rate (can't get enough of their Eggs Benedict), and the young ladies who serve are very polite. In terms of location, the street itself is very picturesque and it is a very short walk to the Byward Market. Fabulous restaurants, great sights and views and the National Gallery is right across from our favourit pub: The Earl of Sussex. Ottawa is a clean, tourist friendly city with lots to see and do. If you're Canadian, like we are, the sight of the Parliament Buildings is very inspiring. If you're from outside Canada, come and have a look and see what we're all about (and yes, we do say "about" differently than others, but not what you might expect ... come give us a listen).
4.4 on July 26, 2012
We had a very pleasant stay at McGee's Inn. the staff was friendly and very helpful, breakfasts are substantial with good variety, and the rooms were quiet at night and very clean. it's a healthy walk to many of the Ottawa attractions, and the neighborhood is generously described as up and coming. but no issues with the Inn, we would stay there again.

Warm and inviting, Auberge McGee's Inn offers a touch of elegance a stone's throw from the heart of Ottawa. The service was friendly and genuine and the food was well above par. The atmosphere, too, was cozy yet spacious.

The breakfasts at the McGee Inn are a treat! There is always a choice of delicious and interesting main courses along with fresh fruit, yogourt, cereals etc. For example, on a recent stay we could chose a cheese and ham omelet, eggs Benedict or two choices of crepes, banana and strawberry or cream cheese and blueberry. The staff are all friendly, charming and helpful. The location is excellenet, prking is included and the rooms are all different and creatively furnished.

Sarah and her team provided outstanding customer service during our two-night stay at the McGee's Inn. The Jacuzzi tub in our "Windsor Room" was also fantastic, especially after a long day of travelling around the beautiful city. We highly recommend this inn to people who want to stay at a high quality B&B that provides great value in Ottawa. We hope to get to return to this lovely 162 years old house in our future trip to Ottawa!

Excellent place to stay. Beautiful rooms. We stayed in the Family Room as we had our 81 year old mother travelling with us. We arrived in from Australia - very long flight and were received well by the host. Staff very friendly and helpful. Magnificient breakfast. Close to downtown Ottawa. Much prefer to stay here rather than a hotel. Much more personalised.

3.6 on June 28, 2012
My wife and I stayed one night, and we were very happy of what we found. Quiet place, confortable bedroom, clean bathroom, and a generous breakfast. On a small downside, I was quite surprised that no one seems to speak French although we were in the capital of Canada. All other points were great.
4.6 on June 25, 2012
The location of the Inn was great, close to restaurants and shops. Although some sites required driving to, parking was not a problem. The breakfasts were fantastic. The last morning, we had crepes, which were excellent. We would definately stay at Auberge McGee's Inn again when we go to Ottawa.
3.6 on June 24, 2012
The household is pleasantly set-up, with antiques and nick-knacks all over the place, some ingeniously placed (like old peddle-powered sewing machine tables serving as breakfast tables for two, hidden away under table cloths, and old and interesting books here and there). There are patio chairs in the tree-shaded garden in the front with a little water fountain providing a calming affect, and the establishment is within walking distance of major attractions. The staff was outstanding, always pleasant and trying to be helpful.
4.2 on June 24, 2012
Historic, very well located, great service and exceptional breakfasts! Our room was a bit cozier than we had expected but there were definitely more roomy ones we could have chosen and still have had good value.
3.8 on June 18, 2012
Really exclusive breakfast offer. I also like the choice of seating for breakfast at a private small table or at a common table for social interaction. Perfect alternative to a big chain hotel when you are at a conference in the convention center. The Rooms are nice, only minus is that one can hear the shower running of neighbours.
4.6 on June 18, 2012
This family-operated B&B has made a great job in combining modern equipment and professional service with their beautiful historic building. I stayed at the Windsor room and enjoyed the amazing Jacuzzi. The breakfast is served by friendly staff to your comfort, in compliance with the overall style and atmosphere - far from the common continental breakfast style. I didn't have any negative experience to share after a 5-night stay.

I stayed 4 days at the Auberge McGee's Inn and I had a very pleasant stay. The food was great, the room was clean and comfortable, and the wireless connection worked well. Everyone was smiling, helpful and accommodating. Even if I was there for work, I felt like being on holidays! Hope I will have the chance to stay there again! I rated 'Met my expectations' for Dinning, but I don't think they serve it!

My stay at McGee's was certainly "above and beyond' all my expectations and my previous experiences with both hotels and B and B's. The staff was expceptional - competent, friendly, polite and helpful. The room was immaculate and the furnishings and many other details created a wonderful old world charm. I would highly recommend this inn to anyone who stays in Ottawa.

My wife and I recently stayed at McGee's as we celebrated our first wedding anniversary in Ottawa. It rained all weekend, but that didn't matter. We slept in, had breakfast in bed, went for short walks to the market making use of one of the many umbrella's by the front door. Everything about our stay at McGee's was great, exceeding our expectations. We will definitely be back.
4.2 on June 03, 2012
The only thing we have noticed, was that there was a bit of ''echo'' from the noise in the hallway, to be expected in a mature house like that. Overall, it was just great.

This is the second time I've stayed at the McGee Inn in Ottawa and I just love the place. The first was with a friend as we attended a conference. This time with my husband who thought it was beautiful. Perfect location for people to meander around downtown Ottawa and the Parliament Buildings. Plenty of outside garden seating for those warm summer nights. Excellent service, super food and they even provide breakfast in bed at an additional charge. How decadent! You won't be sorry!! Pat Lee

4.2 on May 24, 2012
McGee's historic Inn is full of interesting antiques. It was fun to see how old collectibles were given new life; for instance, the small breakfast table we used each morning was once a treadle sewing machine in a former life! The bed in room 11 was very comfortable, enough room for us and the bathroom roomy and nice. The breakfast choices each morning were great and the staff exceeded our expectations. We happened to be there when the owners were away on a holiday, but the staff left in charge were perfect in every way. We could not have been more pleased as it was within a 10-15 minute walk from Byward Market and several of the museums. We enjoyed a presentation at the Ottawa Little Theater located just one block from the B&B our first night there. It deserves a definite return visit. Loved McGee's Inn and loved Ottawa.

We stayed in Room 15 for 2 nights. Service was great upon check-in. We had the choice of the 8:00am or 9:00am breakfast seating. Enjoyed the proximity to Byward Market and Parliament Hill (15 minute walk). Breakfast was delicious, always had a choice between 4 options. Buffet area had a nice selection as well. Only critique were the thin walls and sound proofing of the inn. Being on the 2nd floor, we heard a lot of commotion on the 3rd floor, as guests arrived later. If you want a peaceful rest, try to reserve on the 3rd floor.

Nice inn. Breakfast was great. It is restaurant-style. They take your order and you have a few options to choose from.
3.8 on April 16, 2012
I had high expectations of this place, so four stars in my case does not mean "exceeded my expectations," but "above average." We were there for our 25th anniversary and stayed in the Windsor Room. It was a lovely room, although we might stay in a different room if we were to go again in order to have a tub that was more suited to two people. We did not find the fancy shower, which was a feature of this room, to be all that great. But the staff were very friendly and they allowed us to leave our luggage with them after we had checked out while we went touring in Ottawa.

What a wonderful building filled with history, we really did enjoy our stay. Half of the fun was looking at all of the eclectic antiques and reading threw the history of the building, the past and previous owners, it was quite a history lesson! The staff we're very friendly and the layout of the dinning room really made you feel comfortable and at home. I especially enjoyed how they left the rooms which were no occupied open for our viewing pleasure. It was really nice to take a peak at other rooms we could have chosen! However we were more than pleased with the Windsor Room. The shower was so amazing, very relaxing after a long weekend! Thank you to everyone at Auberge Mcgee's Inn! We will certainly recommend your establishment!

The best thing about this B&B is its location - fairly quiet street and close to Parliament, downtown, etc. The room was clean, the service was good, so there are no complaints.

We had a lovely overnight stay at McGee's this past weekend. The room was cute with our own private bathroom (Room 15) and breakfast was delicious. The owners were very accommodating and even let us leave our car parked in the lot for the day, after we checked out. Perfect location, a short walk from Byward Market and Parliament. I'd recommend McGee's to anyone visiting Ottawa.

Lovely rooms and fantastic dining service. Innkeepers are pretty rigid and not the warmest, but the dining and housekeeping staff are the great! The rooms are beautiful and well-kept. The house is on a block that is okay but surrounded by a few blocks that aren't that great (run-down). If you're hoping to do touristy things, you may want a closer location if it's cold outside. Final thought - they didn't do a great job at clearing ice in front of the inn, which was surprising, given how treacherous and plentiful it was!
4.2 on February 20, 2012
My husband was leary of staying at a B and B because of a previous bad experience. When I showed him McGees online he was willing to give it a try. It did not let us down! We arrived long before check in time and our room was ready so we were able to check in right away. Service was prompt, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fast, great selection and presented very professionally. There was a couple minor things that could have been fixed in the room, but certainly nothing to dampen our visit. We would certainly come back and recommend it to people visiting Ottawa. The location was great for us - very reasonable walk to all the things downtown we wished to see.

I stayed at McGee's Inn for 3 nights in Januay in the Egyptian room. The house is beautiful and comfortable and very victorian. The hosts and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is particularly excellent, and it was enjoyable to have my own table but still have the option of talking with other guests. The location is fantastic - 10 minutes walk from the main shopping street and Byward market. The Egyptian room is comfortable with it's jacuzzi bath and showe. It is nicely decorated with many Egyptian artifacts. The bed was very amazing and the room was decorated to perfection. Thank you to the owners for all the work you do to make Mcgees Inn a beautiful home and a relaxing place for your guests. You are most appreciated! I will recommend this BnB and hope to return!

I booked my stay for the wrong, day, and I called them up on the day that I booked, (the wrong day) and asked to change the date. They looked up the date I wanted to stay, and they were able to make the change, and I WAS NOT CHARGED EXTRA!!! :) I was very happy with the room and everything was clean. The location is very close to the market, and we were able to park and walk to dinner and then the theater without any issue. I do like to eat, and the breakfast was very very very good, I would have like to have more, but was not given the option. This would be my one small complaint. It was my first B&B ever, and I would give them my business again when I go back to Ottawa. Thanks, Amanda & Justin from KW

We had a smaller room (Number 11) -it was fine for the two of us. Great decor - lots of little touches you're not going to find in your standard accomodation. The service was excellent - from check-in through to breakfast - very friendly and efficient. Not your ordinary breakfast - no continental style here - choices from a buffet table of cereals, yogourt, juices - tea or coffee served at the table - then a choice of (we had 4 choices, including omelette or crepes or eggs benny) cooked breakfast, served to the table. The price may seem a little high at first but for a nice room and a great breakfast, it's good value.

The private balcony to our room was wonderful for impromptu gatherings of the group and the many pots of tea that were delivered to us made for a very personal touch. The B & B provided a much more homely and comfortable setting than a hotel would have done I am sure.

I stayed for one night (in August) since it was close to my apartment, which I had just moved out. I needed a place within walking distance and had decent and recent reviews. I did research the inn on Tripadvisor beforehand and thought this inn suited my needs. Registration online was easy and response time was quick. I even got a discount for single person - nice policy. They have ample parking on the property. I checked in and Ken helped me with my luggage to the 2nd floor. The room no. was 18, and comes with a private enclosed balcony. I loved the decor as it was nicely decorated in Victorian style and cozy and clean with antiques. I was surprised to find complimentary perfumed bath salts, and their own McGee brand facial soap and paper cups for brushing your teeth. The bed was comfortable and the bedding and quilt was very nostalgic. There were lots of table lamps as well as a small fridge and air conditioner. In the morning I had a choice of 4 breakfast entrees and chose the Omelette with sundried tomatoes and goat cheese with two sausages. It was delicious and filled me up just right. Service was friendly and efficient. The waitress also spoke French since some of the guests only spoke French. You seat yourself in the dining area and while you wait, you can help yourself to their delicious fruit salad, and yogurt and large selection of tea. I choose a window seat by the bay windows and was there for the 8:00 am sitting. I tried sitting in the balcony but due to my sensitivity to dust, ( I am slightly asthmatic), I couldn't sit out there for more than 5 minutes. I guess they could wipe it down every day. Ken helped me with my luggage to the taxi on check out. It was also handy that their phone had pre-entered numbers for direct dial for two taxi companies etc. so I didn't have to look it up or ask them for call me a taxi. Faye Vancouver

McGee's Inn is well situated in downtown Ottawa. it is a lovely, old historical property which the owners have decorated in keeping with the Inn's natural ambience. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was superb! It was lovely sitting in the garden in the early evening, although our young grandson thought the garden needed an upgrade or attention, and suggested I take on the job!! (A bit far from home, though.)

We had a lovely three-night stay at Auberge McGee's Inn in August. We left our car in the lot the entire time and walked everywhere. It made our stay relaxing and fun. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, with well-equipped bathrooms. The bed was great. And the breakfasts were outstanding. Each day, we had something different. My favorite was the crepes, with fresh blueberries and raspberries -- delicious and light. We'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys interesting old houses, nice fellow lodgers, and a great location.

We appreciated having access to guide books and discount coupons at the Inn. Breakfast was delightful and very satisfying. We didn't need lunch! We'll stay at McGee's Inn again.

You have to love this place. The location is perfect, and it seems the staff are always having a BBQ. I must have eaten more than I paid for the room. Possibly the friendliest inn on Earth.

This is an awesome place to stay. The accommodation are superior to other B&B's. The service is great and the staff is personable. The location is outstanding, walking distance to everywhere downtown. The room we stayed in had a nice decore, AC and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The food is awesome. I stay there every year. There's nowhere else that's comparable to this place in Ottawa.

We stayed at McGee's B and B in Sandy Hill, Ottawa April 5th 2011. It is a lovely old rambling brick house full of collectibles and interesting furniture. Our bedroom was on the top floor and had 2 bedrooms (husband snores!) essentially, with a balcony (too cold to use yet) and handsome white-tiled bathroom with red accents. The beds werre very comfortable and the furnishings attractive. The suite was very private. The only thing missing from the room was a coffee/tea maker. We went down to the dining room in the late afternoon but couldn't find any hot water etc to make tea (nothing had been mentioned at check-in). However, breakfast was a real treat! A choice of three cooked meals (we chose eggs Benedict), and in the 'help-yourself' area, real piping hot croissants (not the breaded variety), cereals, juices, lots of tea choices. The coffee was excellent, as was the service by a young cheerful woman attending university. I would return. Gwendy Hall.

McGee's always makes your stay a good stay each and every time. For this stay I was not sure until the day off that I would be able to make it for the night and they allowed me to advise them last minute with any charges and that does not happen anywhere. This has been my 3rd stay at McGee's and I have referred other friends that come to Ottawa to stay there and will continue as McGee's is simple the best B&D I have ever been too. Always a great stay!! thank you!

Overall we were very satisfied. Great location, close to downtown sites and easy access to the Hwy 417. They accomodated a very late check-in. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Overnight onsite parking is limited but there is (legal) on-street parking nearby. The only dissatisfaction was our crepes were stone cold the morning we were leaving and couldn't be bothered asking for hot ones as we needed to get on the road.

We stayed in the Egyptian room which was very well decorated. The room was bit small but we loved the jucuzzi and the fireplace; a log was left for us to use which was a lovely surprise. The bed was extremely comfortable. The only criticism I can offer was that I thought the breakfast was OK but not outstanding. Overall however, the unique style and comfort of our room, the old-fashioned decor of the inn, as well as the location of the inn, gave us a very charming and warm B&B experience.

We went for a Thursday and Friday night in November. There was plenty of parking. The decor was very well done - the pictures don't really do it justice. We stayed in rm 16 - John McGee's room. It was bigger than I expected and the wood burning fireplace worked beautifully. The food was excellent, with four choices for the warm breakfast. They even accommodated my friend who was gluten-sensitive. When we asked for tea one afternoon, they even included cookies as well - a thoughtful little touch. The market was in easy walking distance, as was Parliament Hill. I can't say enough good things about our stay. The attention to detail, beautifully appointed rooms and excellent breakfast all make this a superb inn.

The stay at the inn was fine but next time I will check my reservation confirmation more carefully. I had requested room 12 and their confirmation was for room 11 which I did not notice. We needed two separate beds and therefore ended up on the third floor in the end, lugging up 200 plus pounds of luggage up the stairs in the 40 degree heat(after hours checkin -no one around) Other than that, it was fine. Location very good.

McGee's Inn was a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in room 24 with its own private entrance. Very handy. The room was small, but well designed. It had a fridge, but no microwave. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They brought us wine glasses and a bottle opener to use and you could request a coffee maker or tea kettle in your room for daily use. The internet was fast and easy to use as well. The food was wonderful. You have 4 choices every morning as well as fruit, home made muffins, yogurt and cereal. The location was great as well. We could walk to parlament, museums, shops and lots of dinning. The Hard Rock Cafe was also very close. We only drove to visit Quebec. Over all I loved this place. It was the perfect place to spend our 10th anniversary. I would deffinatly stay here again.

We spent the weekend of 28-29 August in Ottawa for a cultural and entertainment visit to the Capital and we had lot of fun. We stayed at the McGee's Inn in the Egyptian room - very romantic! We really enjoyed the historical character of the house. But what impressed us the most were: the friendliness of the host, the great service, the ambiance including the camaraderie of the other guess and the wonderful breakfast we had on Sunday morning. In short, an outstanding experience! We highly recommend the McGee's Inn for your next stay in Ottawa. Laval, QC

A lovely country inn in the middle of the city...nice outdoor patio area to enjoy being outside. Lovely personnel and very accommodating. We stayed in the Windsor room with the "space-ship shower tub combo"....it was really fun! Super comfortable bed and well appointed room. The only drawback is that the house is very dark. Breakfast was served very quickly and was excellent, with three choices including a no-meat option. Great place!

I have stayed at McGee's Inn several times, but have never written a review. This home is wonderful and the innkeepers do a fantastic job and are so personable. They go out of their way to help make your stay a pleasant one. The front yard has plenty of seating so you can sit outside and enjoy the lovely garden and trees. The "John McGee" room where I stayed has hardwood flooring and a fireplace with an antique mantel. It is very warm and inviting. This Inn definitely has the feeling of home - very lovely and comfortable. The location is excellent and close to the downtown area. Walking to the main tourist locations is very doable. If you have a car, the Inn has off-street parking. There is plenty of hot water even though this is a big house. Never had to worry about enough hot water for showering. The breakfasts are phenomenal. Besides the standard fare of toast, cereals, yogurt and fruit, they also offer a variety of crepes with bacon or sausage, and Eggs Benedict. Freshly baked muffins are also available. Eating there is a real treat. Some mornings the owners are serving breakfast. Visiting with any of the Armstrongs is a treat. My husband and I booked seven rooms for our wedding party and ourselves when we got married in Ottawa. We made a lot of really great decisions when we were getting ready for our wedding, like deciding to stay here (and, of course, deciding to get married in the first place!) Everyone in our group kept saying how good the breakfast was, and the young woman with the reddish hair who was serving breakfast got a special mention - she was so nice and so helpful! My mother gave McGee's two big thumbs up, and she's not the easiest person to please. The Victorian Room was perfect as a bridal suite, the shower in the Windsor Room was a popular conversation topic (you GOTTA check this thing out! TV in the shower, and the shower/bath has a remote!), and we loved the convenience of the Inn's location. Really, we couldn't have done better anywhere else in the city, and the people at the Inn were what made it so great. We had a lot to co-ordinate and the Inn was always accommodating. We used the main floor to open gifts and eat lunch, and we thought we were really lucky to have a place that we could gather together both families. We are now getting photos back from the photographer, and the classic, elegant background of the rooms at the Inn make for some gorgeous photos. I'm glad we didn't do the hotel thing - this is so much more personal.

My bride and I were looking for the perfect place to bring together two families who had never met each other and McGee's turned out to be ideal. The photos of the rooms on their website don't do them justice. These are gorgeous rooms. Everyone in our family raved about the eggs benedict at breakfast. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our many requests. When two very valuable items went missing, the staff searched the inn, found them and tracked me down to return them. Thank you McGee's!

On Saturday, Hubby and I left behind the noise and grit of our city to head off to the noise and grit of another city. We were celebrating belatedly our wedding anniversary, and I had the brilliant thought that it would be so romantic to stay in a bed and breakfast overnight. Taking the advice of someone who had stayed at McGee's Inn in Ottawa last year, I took the plunge and booked a reservation for one night. My only regret now is that we could not stay a second or third or fourth night... The B & B was on one of those streets lined with beautiful old homes dating back to the late 1800's--some brick Victorians, others made of stone. This one was built in 1883, with three stories of Victorian brick, twelve-foot ceilings, Tuscan columns, and some gorgeous antiques. It has taken the family who owns it seven full years to restore it to the state in which I saw it, and apparently it is still a work in progress. The colour photo of Room #18 on the inn's website was what captivated me at first sight. Think pale green wallpaper, original wood moldings, quilts, an antique desk and best of all, a private screened-in porch on which to relax or entertain guests. Call me nostalgic if you will, but let me enjoy a trip into the gentler past. Breakfast was the cherry on top; with a choice of raspberry crepes with whipped cream, ham and cheese omelets with farm sausages, or eggs Benedict with sausages, you could not go wrong. Everything was fresh and delicious and served by friendly waitresses who were glad to share the locations of attractions in Ottawa with us. I really do hope that one day we will be able to return to enjoy it all over again--maybe on our second honeymoon!

We were so incredibly happy with the Mcgee's Inn. We stayed in the beautiful Victorian Roses suite, which had everything we needed, including a small fridge, tv, and internet access. The sizable room was clean and comfortable. The double-size jacuzzi was awesome (especially as the television could be seen while lying in it). Breakfast was delicious, with numerous choices, and served at convenient and sensible times. The inn is in a great location, and we were within walking distance of everything we wanted to do: museums, restaurants, parliament, markets.Yet, despite being so close to "the action", we found the Inn and the street it is on to be quiet and peaceful. The Armstrongs themselves were just lovely people. Talking with them was more like catching up with old friends than meeting for the first time. We absolutely recommend staying at the Auberge Mcgee's Inn! Derek and Fiona

McGee's Inn is a large, old Victoria home that has been made into a B.& B. It has been filled with antiques and renovated, room by room. There is free parking at the front and on the street as well. Our stay was for 4 nights from March 15 to 19th. McGee's Inn is fairly close to the Bytown Market area which has lots of restaurants, pubs, specialty shops, sidewalk merchandise for sale, etc. My wife and I (60 plus) and my disabled son walked to Parliament hill, the War Museum, Art Gallery, the Mint and to various restaurants. We were surprised by the large number of people out at night enjoying themselves and everyone was polite and friendly. You learn to slightly adjust your walking route to avoid the bother of a few panhandlers. The young people that we encountered on the street were University of Ottawa students and they were universally polite and well-behaved. I paid in cash when I arrived and was told that they did not have the correct change and would get back to me. Although it was less than a dollar, they appeared at breakfast with my change. Breakfasts included a large range of choices: muffins, orange juice, fruit dishes, cereal, etc. were out on tables to be picked up. The choices to be served were: eggs benedict with sausages and toast, a couple of omelette choices, and a couple of fruit crepes. Service was better than at most restaurants and they quickly adjusted service, if they learned that you drank lots of coffee for example. One morning, our cups were filled and then a pot was placed on our table for refills. Making up the room was done after we left in the morning for tourist activities as well as some work on room renovation nearby. Every effort was made not to disturb guests. We would certainly come back and have recommended this B&B to an Ottawa native who often has out-of-town guests in, looking for accomodation.

We were in Ottawa from July 28 to July 31 and stayed at the McGee's Inn. We really liked our stay at the Inn. My husband and I found the owners very friendly. We stayed in the John McGee's room #16. The room was so pretty and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The next time we go to Ottawa, we plan to go back to McGee's Inn.

This is the most charming, friendly inn I have ever stayed at. The staff were so friendly, making sure that I had the best Canada Day ever. They advised me where to go and what to do and were right on every account. The food was fantastic! I highly recommend McGee's to anyone travelling to Ottawa.

My girl friend and I just came back from a fabulous week in Ottawa. We had such a good time and stayed at such a WONDERFUL inn, that we extended our stay for an extra day. Unfortunately that's all we could extend for because Patricia had to be back at work on Monday. If you're ever in Ottawa, we highly recommend that you stay at the McGee's Inn. The McGee mansion was built in 1886 for John McGee - Darcy McGee's brother and was converted to an inn about 25 years ago. About 5 years ago the Armstrongs (Judy and Ken; and their son Jason and daughter-in-law Sarah) bought the inn, refurbished it BEAUTIFULLY into a 12 bedroom Victorian style inn and have been running it ever since. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed staying there. The hospitality was wonderful. The inn itself was beautiful, as you can see from our pictures, and the breakfasts were to die for - apple/brie crepes, strawberry/banana crepes, wonderful omlettes, sausages, eggs benedict ...... What else can I say - HEAVEN! Joel & Patricia

We were recently on a short tour of Quebec and Ontario with a visiting friend from Scotland. We had stayed at McGee's before, some years ago, and decided that it would be a good place to take our friend for our stay in Ottawa. McGee's did not disappoint. The Inn is situated in a great spot for walking to most of what Ottawa has to offer, and we were very pleased with the quality both of the rooms and the hospitality offered to us. We were made very welcome by the Armstrongs, and we enjoyed meeting the other people who were staying there over an excellent breakfast. Our friend was able, through our stay at McGee's, to meet with even more Canadians on his trip here, and he enjoyed that very much.

One of the best place I've stayed at in Ottawa. I reccomend it. Very cozy and calm.

This time it was winter in Ottawa, and the atmosphere at Mcgee's was perfect. The snow and Christmas lighting in the Garden area, make the welcome inside seem warmer and even more appropriate. We had the McGee room this time, and it really makes you think of Parliamentarians in the 1800's visiting Ottawa to represent their constituents. The hosts are like old friends, and so knowledgeable about local history. Dining is a matter of breakfast, and it always amazes me how long the meal goes on with good friends you meet at the Inn. If you'd like to stay in Ottawa, at a most convenient location, and come away feeling as if you have really experienced something special, I recommend McGee's Inn.

We have had the pleasure of staying at McGees Inn on several occasions over the past few years. We have stayed at dozens of Inns and Bed and Breakfasts all over the world and this is, without a doubt, one is our favourites. Its authentic, warm, incredibly decorated, and very, very comfortable ... from the bedrooms to the parlour to the beautiful gardens. We always feel so much at home here, this place has incredible energy and soul. The hosts are forever generous, very easygoing and take an immense amount of pride in what they have accomplished. Breakfast is mouthwatering, the coffee is world class... There's always only one downfall about our stay here ... and that is having to leave. We look forward to our next visit!

We spent 3 wonderful days in ottawa. This was a great place to stay - close to everything. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Breakfast was just the best!

I just spent the the best Canada Day weekend ever. I decided to go to Ottawa this year and wanted to stay somewhere close to the action without spending an arm and a leg. A friend suggested I stay at McGee's Inn on Daly street. I am grateful for the sound advice. Upon my arrival, I was pleased to see that there was plenty of parking, so I did not have to worry about finding somewhere to leave my car while enjoying the festivities. My room was lovely. It had a small fridge to keep some drinks, the bed was very comfortable, and the whole lot was impeccably clean. I awoke the next morning feeling a little worse for wear, only to be presented an amazing plate of eggs benedict and fresh fruit in the courtyard. The staff at McGee's made sure that I knew where to go and what to see. After a day of taking in shows and enjoying the sites, I returned to the Inn only to find the chef outside grilling something. It turned out that they had invited family and friends for a BBQ. I was invited to join them for a drink and a bite, and met several new people, including other guests. Everyone raved about the chef's secret rib recipe, and with reason. That amazing supper made my weekend complete. By then, the fireworks were little more than desert. Thank you very much to everyone at McGee's for a fantastic stay. See you next year. :-)

On the 24 May 2008 Norm and Betty celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at the McGee's Inn. Last year we contacted Innkeeper Judy and asked her to host our celebration with a dinner for 15 guests. Judy did an outstanding job arranging our visit which included accommodating four couples and preparing and presenting the dinner. Everything was just perfect. Judy and her family made us most welcome as if we were home. She made our weekend so memorable. So good in fact we will return for our 60 th celebrations.

We stayed in John McGee's room and had a wonderful relaxing evening with the fireplace. Innkeeper provided wine glasses, plates and utensils for the dessert we brought back from the market. Very friendly hosts with wonderful breakfast. Within walking distance to many sites.

I shopped around for a romantic setting and couldn't believe how inexpensive McGee's was in comparison to other Inns in the area. I was absolutely floored when we arrived... from the exterior of the building, the interior decorating and cleanliness, the gorgeous and spacious room right through to the fabulous 5 star breakfast! We have both recommended McGee's Inn to friends and family. We were both thoroughly impressed - Great Job, keep it up!

The rooms are gorgeous and the location is fantastic. We have been very happy both times we have stayed there. The only suggestion I have is to perhaps change the breakfast menu periodically. The crepes would be much, much better with fresh strawberries or apples instead of the pie filling in them now. I also heard this comment from the couple at the table beside us. The crepes are a great idea, just a hint on how to make them spectacular instead of just o.k. The lower floor does smell faintly like cigarette smoke although I do know this is a non-smoking house. All in all, we have no complaints and will continue to come yearly to McGees and to recommend it to our friends and family.
Thanks for the comments. We have now changed our apple crepes to fresh baked apples and have added two new crepes to the menu - peach/cranberry and rum raisen pear. They are "wonderful".

This was our first trip to Ottawa, and we had a wonderful time. How lucky we were to have discovered McGee's Inn! The location was ideal for us: we parked our car in the inn's lot and did not use it again until we left. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. We stayed in the John McGee room, a lovely large room with a fireplace which we made good use of on those cold February nights. The breakfasts were delicious and the hosts could not have been nicer.

We had never been to Ottawa before our stay during Winterlude 2007. I had read about it in our local newspaper the year before. The article was about romantic Valentine stories. One couple had been to Winterlude because the wife loved to skate but her husband really bombed, making their time on ice a real pain. The next year he surprised his wife with a trip to Ottawa for Winterlude. She couldn't believe it because she thought he hated skating. Here he had secretly taken skating lessons for the whole year and surprised his wife for Valentine's day with his excellent skating ability. I remember thinking "what a romantic thing to do!" So after alot of research we traveled to Ottawa on Feb 17th, which happened to be exactly when all of the major interstates in PA were closed because of a big snow storm. But that didn't stop us. We left the night before, traveling on the only open road northbound through PA,spent the night on the NY border, eventually taking rt 81 north through NY and to Ottawa. Mcgee's Inn was everything I hoped for and more, a sophisticated Victorian filled with antique charm, impecable service and food. We were able to walk to everything: the canal, market area and parliment hill. And just like the couple in the story, my partner Steve, who hadn't skated in almost 40 years, skated with me. I know he really didn't want to and didn't particularly enjoy tripping, falling and weak aching ankles, but he did it for me. And to me, it was the most romantic thing of all. I'll always remember that weekend: the ice, the cold, the music, the quaint bistros, antique shops, the ice sculptures, and most of all, the romance.

We have stayed at McGee's Inn about five times and have loved the friendly hosts. The breakfasts are to die for. I also like all the antique items and the character of the Inn. Our son, who is studying in Ottawa, is always invited to join us for breakfast at a very nominal fee. having parking spaces in Ottawa is also a plus.

My wife & I had a wedding to attend in the Ottawa area. Instead of staying in the typical, stuffy run of the mill mass produced hotels, we decided to research bed & breakfasts in the area. We stumbled upon McGee's Inn and are glad we did. The setting is excellent, location is great (10 minute walk to the canal), room was great, food tantilizing and staff accommodating. We would reccommend the Inn to anyone. Very interesting history of the home.

After a 4 hour drive with a 7 year old in the backseat (are we there yet), we were extremely pleased to find such a quaint B&B within walking distance of all the sights and restaurants. The attention to detail and the tasteful rooms were an added bonus. Our room suited our needs perfectly and the beds were very cozy and comfortable. Our host was pleasant and the breakfast we enjoyed the next day was outstanding. I wouldn't even entertain the idea of staying in a hotel after finding such a jewel in the heart of downtown. We will definitely return and have already passed on the name to our friends. Great value for an upscale B&B!!

I've been staying at McGee's for the last few years and it is always enjoyable. While the rooms are small (which is expected for old homes), they are furnished with interesting objects and the beds are wonderful! A nice walk to downtown Ottawa.

The breakfast is wonderful and the young woman who served breakfast was fabulous, helpful and friendly. The Inn is very nice, clean and comfortable, but a liitle expensive for the quality of the bathrooms, they need some work.

For a warm combination of modern value, and old time values, McGee's Inn in the heart of Ottawa can not be beat. The Inn is charming, and reflects a time of comfort and warm hospitality evoking a feeling of comfort and peaceful relaxation which is so rare in today's world. Within "No Sweat" walking distance of all of Ottawa's major attractions, Parliament Hill, Rideau Canal, Sparks Street Mall, and The Byward Market, yet parking is "free" and easy. Much more than a Bed and a Breakfast, McGee's Inn is an experience you will want to return to again and again.

This Inn is outstanding in quality and attention to detail. It has an incredible aura about it, like the lives of those who have lived there before are still present. In the heart of the city you feel at peace here .. the innkeepers are helpful, very friendly and you will get THE best breakfast anywhere at McGees. Difficult to leave, can't wait to return.
