Auberge McGee's Inn

Beautiful clean rooms in a historic building, originally built by Thomas Darcy McGee's brother. Each room is unique. Comfortable beds and bathrooms. Located in Sandy Hill, one of Ottawa's old residential areas. An easy walk to Parliament Hill, the Market, Rideau Street shopping, the Rideau Canal, and downtown. We have been staying at McGee's Inn for 7 years whenever we visit our daughter in Ottawa. Great consistent breakfasts and service over many years. We often have to arrive late because of Toronto traffic and the owners always are helpful.

After staying in one of the large hotels it was so nice to stay here. The location was perfect as we essentially walked to most museums etc. The accomadation was great...slept well, and had hot breakfasts with a number of choices. Would recommend this B&B to others!!

Superb breakfasts, lovely front gardens. Parking was 'interesting'... double & triple parking, but cars were moved as needed (or towed!). Hosts were knowledgeable about the area, and very helpful. Inn is a Victorian house, so floors squeak/creak, and the house groans a bit (just telling you stories of times past). Mind you, there was an earthquake & aftershock (5.2 & 4.2 respectively), so that probably didn't help the old house's bones. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone without children (no idea if it's child-friendly or not, but the idea of tiny feet thumping along the floors & whatnot... not nice when sound is easily transmissible to other rooms), who appreciates true Victorian charm and quirks. I will definitely be staying again.

A great stay in a mini museum of its own right. Good location within walking distance to most Ottawa tourist sites.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Auberge McGee's Inn for one night in April while visiting Ottawa. Location was a reasonable walking distance from the Byward Market and Parliament Hill. Beautifully decorated room, and having a private porch with the room we booked was a nice bonus! Staff was friendly and breakfast was good too!

As usual McGee's Inn staff was fantastic. We had some special requests to have an early breakfast and hearty oatmeal, fruits, yoghurts and coffee were ready by 7 am. The rooms were very clean. On Sunday again, the staff at Mc Gee's Inn were more than helpful as we asked for a late check out. I would recommend this inn to everybody who wishes to stay in Central Ottawa.

14 people from the reunion stayed at McGee's. THe rooms were excellent, the breakfast amazing and we all had plenty of time and space to have after the scheduled events social time. Great value and we would od it again in a heartbeat

Main room no. 22 is lacking space to move around but adequate for sleeping. With the big screened-in poach on 3rd floor with a view over the Byward Market area, it was a great place to relax in the evening and enjoy the lights of the city. My wife and I enjoyed looking at the antique articles throughout the Inn. The service and the people working at McGee's Inn were great and accommodating. Their breakfast of 4 different choices were fantastic and more than the continental breakfast you get at other places. Even with the new $7.50 per day parking charge, it was cheaper than other places near by. My wife and I will definitely stay at McGee's Inn whenever we visit Ottawa.

My daughter and I stayed here for 4 nights....it was lovely, the 3rd night had a little incident that woke us up but it was something out of the control of the owners and they handled it as best they could....We will definately be back....Marlene Wilkinson

I would definitely return. The breakfast were lovely and freshly prepared. The location is downtown within walking distance of the Byward Market. Comfortable and elegant.

We stayed for two nights in April. It really is a very nice B&B and much much better value than most of the downtown hotels. Our room was large, comfy bed, working fireplace for cold nights, clean bathroom etc. We could not hear the other guests (thick walls). Good selection of breakfast items plus a coffee maker in the dining area for an early morning coffee or afternoon cup of tea, Paper and magazines to read in the lounge. Personable hosts. I would recommend it to anyone.

This place is historic and in a great location for touring the key attractions in Ottawa. The service was excellent and we enjoyed having a "homey" place to retreat to after a day of sight-seeing.

We've now stayed at McGee's Inn twice. What a lovely place, in a charming neighborhood, with easy access to all we wish to see and do. We now feel we have a home away from home when we are in Ottawa. Fine accommodations and a friendly and helpful staff.

Love this Inn - staff are helpful and friendly, location is fantastic (can walk to all main attractions downtown Ottawa), rooms are clean and well decorated and the breakfast is delicious! Love the free coffee and hot chocolate during the day as well. Will definitely return.

I always stay at McGees when visiting Ottawa. The staff are charming, and the decor lovely (the rooms are all well decorated in different themes). The location is easy (ie a ten minute walk) from the Byward market where there are a lot of restaurants, the breakfast is excellent at the Inn (and included in the price), all-in-all a pleasure.

We had a wonderful long weekend at McGee's Inn. The location is a perfect place to explore all of the winterlude activites, the byward market and is easily accessible from the highway. The staff and innkeepers were amazing and so accommodating and willing to take families with small children. I would not hesitate to recommend this inn as we have stayed here twice and loved it!

We spent a wonderful long weekend at McGees. We thoroughly enjoyed the Egyption Room with the Jaccuzzi Tub and fireplace. Breakfasts were wonderful. We felt very pampered and rested which was exactly what we had been hoping for. McGees is a great location providing excellent quality.

Very nice stay at McGee's, very comfortable and clean room with a nice patio that would be perfect in summer. The room was quiet because located on the top floor in a corner, but many are located around the dining hall, which can be pretty noisy in the morning. The inn is well located, a 10 minutes walk to ByWard Market, and 5 to 10 minutes more to Parliament Hill.

Lovely Victoran home. Comfortable bed, clean and everthing we needed. Breakfasts were nicely presented and very good. More than enough to eat. Close to downtown so we were able to park and walk to the Byward Market and the canal. Would stay again.

Spent an amazing weekend in Ottawa. McGees is a beautiful place perfectly located to visit the city, even by foot. My fiancee and I stayed in room 24 for the extra privacy and modern decor. We got exactly what we wanted while still enjoying the unique style and comforts of the inn by popping in for breakfast (which was delicious). I wanted a special surprise for my spouse for our third anniversary so I booked the Windsor room at McGee's. Our stay was excellent. The room was as it is on their web site. It was clean and had two luxurious robes in the bathroom. Very nicely decorated. The employees were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms that weren't in use were open and we were invited to take a look at them. Very unusual, but great as now we know which room we want to stay in next time! The breakfast was delicious. We highly recommend McGee's for anyone wanting a home away from home. You can even sit in the front room and chat with other guests or read.

Warm reception, pleasantly surprised with room. Parking lot had been plowed so no issue parking with all the snow. Full hot breakfast was excellent!

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed. Great welcome, rooms, and breakfast. Perfect for work (very quiet) and for a romantic stay.

The room was spic and span when we arrived, breakfast was delicious, and the service was exemplary. The only reason it's not fives across the board is that some of the fixtures in the bathroom (towel rack, toilet paper holder) kept either falling off or threatening to fall off. They weren't difficult to put back on, it was just kind of annoying. Other than that rather minor issue, though, McGee's Inn was exactly what I was looking for in a B&B. Will definitely use again!

The decor of the rooms and living room is not just functional, but is rather quaint. Breakfast was just great and so was the service. Parking is a problem but that was expected.

A very charming B&B, convenient (nearby the museums, the Rideau Center, the ByWard Market). Breakfasts were very good and generous, a little fridge in the room was useful, and Wi-Fi. as well And the staff was very helpful and make the effort to speak French, which was really appreciated. We will go back for sure.

Very friendly, clean and conveniently located place with lots of charm and an eye for detail. Breakfast had everything but could be organized a little differently so you don't have to ask for more toast and wait for more coffee. However, this is just a tiny suggestion. McGee's Inn is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it.

A very nice B&B. It has as tippicaly English style and is very neat. The people that work there are very helpfull. It is located in the centre of the city so everything is in walking distance. I will reccomend this B&B to everybody I know

This place was the perfect place to stay in the downtown Ottawa area. The room was wonderful and the breakfast delicious. Our only complaint is that we took the room which had a private entrance. Although that may sound inviting, we were able to hear the conversations of all passerbys on the street (house is on a corner). If that doesnt bother you the noise from your upstairs neighbour might. These are obviously isolated incidents that werent helped by our choice of room but I would still stay here again. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant.

McGee's is a nicely restored Victorian mansion, well-located for dining in the Byward Market area, and all sights are just a few steps beyond that, including Parliament, Sparks Street, the Rideau Canal, and sights on the Ottawa River, including Rideau Falls.

McGee's was the perfect base for our stay in Ottawa. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to everything. We had the family room which was spacious, Evan and comfortable. The Inn is decorated with lots of lovely a antiques and nick naks. The bed was comfortable, breakfast delicious, and the hosts were very friendly and helpful.

We love finding fun, quaint little B&Bs whenever we go out of town and this one delivered. Adorable room with lovely private porch, fantastic and friendly service and delicious breakfast selections every morning with several vegetarian options. Would happily stay here again next year!

Great location--within easy walking distance to Parliament Hill, Byward Market, and other downtown sites--yet in a beautiful, quiet neighbourhood. Staff are lovely. Food is great. I've stayed there both times I've been to Ottawa and will stay there again on my next visit.

What can one say about the fabulous breakfast and wonderful staff. Each morning they remembered our special requests without being prompted. Judy went above and beyond assisting us with reservations for accommodation in Quebec City and Via rail reservations. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended by a day at the start of our vacation and were lucky enough to be able to come back to McGee's Inn at the end of the trip. Highly recommendable place to stay.

Small hotel in a calm residential area, only 10 walking minutes to the city center. The rooms and the breakfast area have a very personal touch. Very friendly staff. As it is an old house, there is no elevator.

We had one of the two modern rooms, really nice and clean. Service was perfect. And the breakfast was absolutely delicious!! Close of everything: By Ward Market, the Parliament, etc.

Did not understand when I booked that this room was apart from the main building only that it had a separate entrance. Missed out on all the charm of this historical building. This room is decorated in a modern style completely different from the rest of the Inn. Breakfast was atrocious from the horrible coffee to the overly cooked eggs ,the cold toasts and the way past their prime fruits.

This bed and breakfast is true to its traditional appeal: the old home (complete with player piano!); outstanding service and downtown location.

My wife and I enjoyed our two night stay at the McGee's Inn. The room, and particularly the bathroom was larger than your typical B&B (Windser Room) and was very clean. Breakfast was outstanding - great omelets and crepes! The only drawback of the inn is that it is a few blocks from the market area - easy walking distance, but far enough away that you wouldn't just stop back at the Inn for a short rest.

Our favourite Ottawa B&B - great location, walking distane to most attractions, every room different, but always interesting. The breakfast is always a treat - (Jason is the cook?) - the staff very attentive and enjoy a chat about themselves, the weather, Ottawa events, etc. We have been staying here since the mid-1980's - and look forward to another trip.

We stayed at McGee's years ago. It was a quality place but felt pretentious, aimed at and priced for the government and business classes. A few years ago it was bought by an innovative and very hard-working two-generation family who have replaced the pretension with warmth and a more informal kind of hospitality that we, who visit Ottawa frequently for pleasure, appreciate. We will be back.

The inn is located in a quiet location but walking distance to the government buildings and the market. It's larger than many B&Bs but the service was excellent, room clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was outstanding.

The Inn was perfect for our vacation: very well located, beautifully appointed rooms, very attentive and helpful staff, excellent food, plenty of hot water. The morning support staff could not be more pleasant and accommdating. Only thing missing was a house dog or cat for us travellers who miss our pets.

We recently stayed at McGee's Inn and had a lovely time. The entire Armstrong family and their staff made us feel like we were visitors to their home. would go back in a heart beat! the food, omg, the food was incredible!! Highly recommended. We stayed in the room 24, which was on a ground level and has its own entrance. we have an infant so it was perfect for us.

This is the third time my wife and I have stayed at this wonderful, and historic Canadian bed and breakfast. We like to stay in the John McGee room, but all the rooms look very nice. The ensuite bathroom is well designed and has great water pressure. Air-conditionning, small fridge in the room, very comfortable bed. The breakfast is always first rate (can't get enough of their Eggs Benedict), and the young ladies who serve are very polite. In terms of location, the street itself is very picturesque and it is a very short walk to the Byward Market. Fabulous restaurants, great sights and views and the National Gallery is right across from our favourit pub: The Earl of Sussex. Ottawa is a clean, tourist friendly city with lots to see and do. If you're Canadian, like we are, the sight of the Parliament Buildings is very inspiring. If you're from outside Canada, come and have a look and see what we're all about (and yes, we do say "about" differently than others, but not what you might expect ... come give us a listen).

We had a very pleasant stay at McGee's Inn. the staff was friendly and very helpful, breakfasts are substantial with good variety, and the rooms were quiet at night and very clean. it's a healthy walk to many of the Ottawa attractions, and the neighborhood is generously described as up and coming. but no issues with the Inn, we would stay there again.

Warm and inviting, Auberge McGee's Inn offers a touch of elegance a stone's throw from the heart of Ottawa. The service was friendly and genuine and the food was well above par. The atmosphere, too, was cozy yet spacious.

The breakfasts at the McGee Inn are a treat! There is always a choice of delicious and interesting main courses along with fresh fruit, yogourt, cereals etc. For example, on a recent stay we could chose a cheese and ham omelet, eggs Benedict or two choices of crepes, banana and strawberry or cream cheese and blueberry. The staff are all friendly, charming and helpful. The location is excellenet, prking is included and the rooms are all different and creatively furnished.

Sarah and her team provided outstanding customer service during our two-night stay at the McGee's Inn. The Jacuzzi tub in our "Windsor Room" was also fantastic, especially after a long day of travelling around the beautiful city. We highly recommend this inn to people who want to stay at a high quality B&B that provides great value in Ottawa. We hope to get to return to this lovely 162 years old house in our future trip to Ottawa!

Excellent place to stay. Beautiful rooms. We stayed in the Family Room as we had our 81 year old mother travelling with us. We arrived in from Australia - very long flight and were received well by the host. Staff very friendly and helpful. Magnificient breakfast. Close to downtown Ottawa. Much prefer to stay here rather than a hotel. Much more personalised.

My wife and I stayed one night, and we were very happy of what we found. Quiet place, confortable bedroom, clean bathroom, and a generous breakfast. On a small downside, I was quite surprised that no one seems to speak French although we were in the capital of Canada. All other points were great.

The location of the Inn was great, close to restaurants and shops. Although some sites required driving to, parking was not a problem. The breakfasts were fantastic. The last morning, we had crepes, which were excellent. We would definately stay at Auberge McGee's Inn again when we go to Ottawa.

The household is pleasantly set-up, with antiques and nick-knacks all over the place, some ingeniously placed (like old peddle-powered sewing machine tables serving as breakfast tables for two, hidden away under table cloths, and old and interesting books here and there). There are patio chairs in the tree-shaded garden in the front with a little water fountain providing a calming affect, and the establishment is within walking distance of major attractions. The staff was outstanding, always pleasant and trying to be helpful.

Historic, very well located, great service and exceptional breakfasts! Our room was a bit cozier than we had expected but there were definitely more roomy ones we could have chosen and still have had good value.

Really exclusive breakfast offer. I also like the choice of seating for breakfast at a private small table or at a common table for social interaction. Perfect alternative to a big chain hotel when you are at a conference in the convention center. The Rooms are nice, only minus is that one can hear the shower running of neighbours.

This family-operated B&B has made a great job in combining modern equipment and professional service with their beautiful historic building. I stayed at the Windsor room and enjoyed the amazing Jacuzzi. The breakfast is served by friendly staff to your comfort, in compliance with the overall style and atmosphere - far from the common continental breakfast style. I didn't have any negative experience to share after a 5-night stay.

We have stayed here numerous times in a variety of rooms. The location is great and the breakfast is always delicious with a good variety. The young girls who are hired here are very polite and well trained. It is nice to have parking on site. Would highly recommend:)

I stayed 4 days at the Auberge McGee's Inn and I had a very pleasant stay. The food was great, the room was clean and comfortable, and the wireless connection worked well. Everyone was smiling, helpful and accommodating. Even if I was there for work, I felt like being on holidays! Hope I will have the chance to stay there again! I rated 'Met my expectations' for Dinning, but I don't think they serve it!

My stay at McGee's was certainly "above and beyond' all my expectations and my previous experiences with both hotels and B and B's. The staff was expceptional - competent, friendly, polite and helpful. The room was immaculate and the furnishings and many other details created a wonderful old world charm. My wife and I recently stayed at McGee's as we celebrated our first wedding anniversary in Ottawa. It rained all weekend, but that didn't matter. We slept in, had breakfast in bed, went for short walks to the market making use of one of the many umbrella's by the front door. Everything about our stay at McGee's was great, exceeding our expectations. We will definitely be back.

The only thing we have noticed, was that there was a bit of ''echo'' from the noise in the hallway, to be expected in a mature house like that. Overall, it was just great.

Wonderful neighborhood full of great architecture. Good value for the price. Excellent breakfasts. I do wish the pillows had been a little softer probably because I am used to feather pillows. I would recommend McGee's Inn and would stay there again.

This is the second time I've stayed at the McGee Inn in Ottawa and I just love the place. The first was with a friend as we attended a conference. This time with my husband who thought it was beautiful. Perfect location for people to meander around downtown Ottawa and the Parliament Buildings. Plenty of outside garden seating for those warm summer nights. Excellent service, super food and they even provide breakfast in bed at an additional charge. How decadent! You won't be sorry!! Very friendly staff. The Inn has an interesting history and great atmosphere.

McGee's historic Inn is full of interesting antiques. It was fun to see how old collectibles were given new life; for instance, the small breakfast table we used each morning was once a treadle sewing machine in a former life! The bed in room 11 was very comfortable, enough room for us and the bathroom roomy and nice. The breakfast choices each morning were great and the staff exceeded our expectations. We happened to be there when the owners were away on a holiday, but the staff left in charge were perfect in every way. We could not have been more pleased as it was within a 10-15 minute walk from Byward Market and several of the museums. We enjoyed a presentation at the Ottawa Little Theater located just one block from the B&B our first night there. It deserves a definite return visit. Loved McGee's Inn and loved Ottawa.

Love this place, we have stayed at McGee's 4 times and each time we love it. Beautiful historic home, delicious beautiful, wonderful people, great location. Can't be beat.

A real find which proved a pleasant alternative to hotel stays. Loved the decor and the proximity to downtown Ottawa.

McGee's is an Ottawa gem tucked in the Sandy Hill neighbourhood.- beatufiully appointed rooms, clean, wonderful breakfasts, cheerful and accomodating staff. Close walk to many sites. Great value with parking and breakfast included.

We stayed in Room 15 for 2 nights. Service was great upon check-in. We had the choice of the 8:00am or 9:00am breakfast seating. Enjoyed the proximity to Byward Market and Parliament Hill (15 minute walk). Breakfast was delicious, always had a choice between 4 options. Buffet area had a nice selection as well. Only critique were the thin walls and sound proofing of the inn. Being on the 2nd floor, we heard a lot of commotion on the 3rd floor, as guests arrived later. If you want a peaceful rest, try to reserve on the 3rd floor.

I feel I am fast becoming a regular at Auberge McGee's Inn. Each time I stay there Judy and her staff go overboard to ensure I feel at home. A beautiful house with comfortable rooms and an obliging staff.

The rooms are good and clean. The braeakfast is good but has only few options. The street is very close to the best place in Ottawa.

Nice inn. Breakfast was great. It is restaurant-style. They take your order and you have a few options to choose from.

I had high expectations of this place, so four stars in my case does not mean "exceeded my expectations," but "above average." We were there for our 25th anniversary and stayed in the Windsor Room. It was a lovely room, although we might stay in a different room if we were to go again in order to have a tub that was more suited to two people. We did not find the fancy shower, which was a feature of this room, to be all that great. But the staff were very friendly and they allowed us to leave our luggage with them after we had checked out while we went touring in Ottawa.

What a wonderful building filled with history, we really did enjoy our stay. Half of the fun was looking at all of the eclectic antiques and reading threw the history of the building, the past and previous owners, it was quite a history lesson! The staff we're very friendly and the layout of the dinning room really made you feel comfortable and at home. I especially enjoyed how they left the rooms which were no occupied open for our viewing pleasure. It was really nice to take a peak at other rooms we could have chosen! However we were more than pleased with the Windsor Room. The shower was so amazing, very relaxing after a long weekend! Thank you to everyone at Auberge Mcgee's Inn! We will certainly recommend your establishment!

The best thing about this B&B is its location - fairly quiet street and close to Parliament, downtown, etc. The room was clean, the service was good, so there are no complaints.

We had a lovely overnight stay at McGee's this past weekend. The room was cute with our own private bathroom (Room 15) and breakfast was delicious. The owners were very accommodating and even let us leave our car parked in the lot for the day, after we checked out. Perfect location, a short walk from Byward Market and Parliament. I'd recommend McGee's to anyone visiting Ottawa.

Lovely rooms and fantastic dining service. Innkeepers are pretty rigid and not the warmest, but the dining and housekeeping staff are the great! The rooms are beautiful and well-kept. The house is on a block that is okay but surrounded by a few blocks that aren't that great (run-down). If you're hoping to do touristy things, you may want a closer location if it's cold outside. Final thought - they didn't do a great job at clearing ice in front of the inn, which was surprising, given how treacherous and plentiful it was!

My husband was leary of staying at a B and B because of a previous bad experience. When I showed him McGees online he was willing to give it a try. It did not let us down! We arrived long before check in time and our room was ready so we were able to check in right away. Service was prompt, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fast, great selection and presented very professionally. There was a couple minor things that could have been fixed in the room, but certainly nothing to dampen our visit. We would certainly come back and recommend it to people visiting Ottawa. The location was great for us - very reasonable walk to all the things downtown we wished to see.

Good location, lots of character and a great breakfast. This definitely beats staying in a standard hotel.

We had a great stay at Auberge McGee's Inn. The room (#16) was big and beautiful, with a nice bathroom, and a fireplace (self-burning log included). The Inn itself is within walking distance of many sights, we were able to visit the Byward Market, the Rideau Canal, Parliament Hill, and the Rideau Centre, all in one day. We would definitely stay there again.

I booked my stay for the wrong, day, and I called them up on the day that I booked, (the wrong day) and asked to change the date. They looked up the date I wanted to stay, and they were able to make the change, and I WAS NOT CHARGED EXTRA!!! :) I was very happy with the room and everything was clean. The location is very close to the market, and we were able to park and walk to dinner and then the theater without any issue. I do like to eat, and the breakfast was very very very good, I would have like to have more, but was not given the option. This would be my one small complaint. My wife and I had a great stay at Mcgees Inn . The owners were extremely friendly and the room was nicely decorated . Each of the rooms has their own style .. An employee showed us a few that were vacant . I recommend number 16 . The breakfast was delicious .. There is no doubt our next stay in Ottawa will be there.

Very nice B&B, friendly staff, well located and cozy.The food looked delicious but I could not enjoy it fully. I've got several food intolerances and despite having informed the B&B in advance nothing had been prepared for me, so I had a very limited choice.

I recently spent a night in the Egyptian Room with my boyfriend for our anniversary. We were so pleased with quality of the room and overall we had a magical time. I would recommend it to couples in a heartbeat.

When I visit Ottawa I take my sister. We usually stay at McGee's Inn and love our room on the main floor. Very comfortable. Hosts are friendly and hospitable. Great breakfast.

I was at McGee's for a business trip and enjoyed the home away from home feeling, which only a fireplace in your room can provide. The location is great; I was able to walk to and from my meetings and enjoy all that the Byward market had to offer. It was a first stay and I will make it a habbit when in Ottawa.

I went in Ottawa to visit a friend and I stayed at McGee's Inn, what a wonderful place! It's so cute and very unique!

I was delighted with McGee's as a whole. The only thing that did not exceed my expectations was the breakfast main course.

We had a smaller room (Number 11) -it was fine for the two of us. Great decor - lots of little touches you're not going to find in your standard accomodation. The service was excellent - from check-in through to breakfast - very friendly and efficient. Not your ordinary breakfast - no continental style here - choices from a buffet table of cereals, yogourt, juices - tea or coffee served at the table - then a choice of (we had 4 choices, including omelette or crepes or eggs benny) cooked breakfast, served to the table. The price may seem a little high at first but for a nice room and a great breakfast, it's good value.

Well located and very quiet. Breakfast excellent, except for coffee which is terrible. Should think of acquiring one of these nice expresso machines.

A very nice place to stay in Ottawa. Our particular room (18) was somewhat dark being positioned where it was, but the bonus was the balcony adjacent to the room where you sit and relax and watch the world go by.

We stayed three nights at McGee's, two of them upstairs in a very large and beautiful room, then one night on the main floor in a smaller room that was still very nice. The beds were good. Breakfast was great too! I would happily stay there again.

Except for the weather, we had a very enjoyable four nights at Auberge McGee. Quiet location and easy walk to good restaurants and downtown attractions. Breakfasts were beautifully served and very good.

We had an enjoyable vacation in Ottawa, thanks in part to our two night stay at Auberge McGee's Inn. The inn and our rooms had character and quaint charm and breakfast at the inn was the best we have had during our entire week's trip! We would definitely stay at the inn again should we visit Ottawa again!

Room was very comfortable and bigger than expected. bathroom was large . Breakfast was the big surprise with 4 chooses of cooked breakfasts and plenty of other chooses in pastries etc.As if y ou needed them after the cooked choices! Close to transport and in a very leafy and safe street. Very pleasant stay for 3 nights.

We booked room 22 which has a private screened-in porch. After dinner in the market area we came back to McGee's Inn and they provided a self-serve tea set that we enjoyed on the porch. Beautiful quiet street very close to the downtown and market area. Excellent breakfast with lots of choices. Gorgeous house with many unusual knick-knacks. Very friendly staff. We will certainly stay here again when in Ottawa.

This B&B has lots of Victorian charm, nice staff, a great hot breakfast and is located a few blocks from Byward Market, Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal and other downtown sites. Free off-street parking was a nice plus. Our room(the Egyptian room) had over-the-top Egyptian decor(fun!) and was very nice and comfortable. We booked this beautiful B&B when someone told us that they accepted children. We were with our 15-months-year-old boy and my sister and brother-in-law, and we really enjoyed everything! The rooms were beautiful and well-decorated. The breakfast was very nice and generous. We will go back to the auberge McGee's Inn for sure!

We booked several rooms for a family wedding and it was a great experience. The private balcony to our room was wonderful for impromptu gatherings of the group and the many pots of tea that were delivered to us made for a very personal touch. The B & B provided a much more homely and comfortable setting than a hotel would have done I am sure.

McGee's Inn provided an excellent location for visiting Ottawa, and did it with character and comfort and excellent breakfasts. We would recommend it to anyone.

Everything about McGee's was wonderful - being in walking distance of downtown Ottawa, the kind hosts, the delicious breakfasts, the beautiful decor, the cleanliness, the very reasonable rates... we'll most definitely be back.

I stayed for one night (in August) since it was close to my apartment, which I had just moved out. I needed a place within walking distance and had decent and recent reviews. I did research the inn on Tripadvisor beforehand and thought this inn suited my needs. Registration online was easy and response time was quick. I even got a discount for single person - nice policy. They have ample parking on the property. I checked in and Ken helped me with my luggage to the 2nd floor. The room no. was 18, and comes with a private enclosed balcony. I loved the decor as it was nicely decorated in Victorian style and cozy and clean with antiques. I was surprised to find complimentary perfumed bath salts, and their own McGee brand facial soap and paper cups for brushing your teeth. The bed was comfortable and the bedding and quilt was very nostalgic. There were lots of table lamps as well as a small fridge and air conditioner. In the morning I had a choice of 4 breakfast entrees and chose the Omelette with sundried tomatoes and goat cheese with two sausages. It was delicious and filled me up just right. Service was friendly and efficient. The waitress also spoke French since some of the guests only spoke French. You seat yourself in the dining area and while you wait, you can help yourself to their delicious fruit salad, and yogurt and large selection of tea. I choose a window seat by the bay windows and was there for the 8:00 am sitting. I tried sitting in the balcony but due to my sensitivity to dust, ( I am slightly asthmatic), I couldn't sit out there for more than 5 minutes. I guess they could wipe it down every day. Ken helped me with my luggage to the taxi on check out. It was also handy that their phone had pre-entered numbers for direct dial for two taxi companies etc. so I didn't have to look it up or ask them for call me a taxi. Faye Vancouver

McGee's Inn is well situated in downtown Ottawa. it is a lovely, old historical property which the owners have decorated in keeping with the Inn's natural ambience. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was superb! It was lovely sitting in the garden in the early evening, although our young grandson thought the garden needed an upgrade or attention, and suggested I take on the job!! (A bit far from home, though.)

Historic, charming, 20 minute walk to Byward Market, 30 minutes to Parliament Buildings & National Gallery. Free parking, lovely breakfast. Host provided discount coupons for area pubs, restaurants, attractions. Bar fridge, iron & ironing board in room. Would return.

We had a lovely three-night stay at Auberge McGee's Inn in August. We left our car in the lot the entire time and walked everywhere. It made our stay relaxing and fun. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, with well-equipped bathrooms. The bed was great. And the breakfasts were outstanding. Each day, we had something different. My favorite was the crepes, with fresh blueberries and raspberries -- delicious and light. We'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys interesting old houses, nice fellow lodgers, and a great location.

We had a very enjoyable stay at McGee's Inn. Our room (number 14) was well-appointed and comfortable for 3 people. The service we received was excellent and enhanced our visit to Ottawa. We appreciated having access to guide books and discount coupons at the Inn. Breakfast was delightful and very satisfying. We didn't need lunch! We'll stay at McGee's Inn again.

We have been staying at McGee's for many years during our visits to Ottawa The on-site parking and excellent breakfast is always welcomed. Location is great for walking to the market area and Parliament Hill The facilities are comfortable and very clean and tidy - WE like the Victorian flavour of the place.

Location, value, ambience, and a great breakfast--that says it all. The staff was very accommodating and the room well maintained. This is definitely the place to stay if we visit Ottawa in the future.

You have to love this place. The location is perfect, and it seems the staff are always having a BBQ. I must have eaten more than I paid for the room. Possibly the friendliest inn on Earth.

This is an awesome place to stay. The accommodation are superior to other B&B's. The service is great and the staff is personable. The location is outstanding, walking distance to everywhere downtown. The room we stayed in had a nice decore, AC and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The food is awesome. I stay there every year. There's nowhere else that's comparable to this place in Ottawa.

Ottawa is a city worth exploring and this centrally located B and B was perfect for our self guided walking tour of the city. The room was comfortable to unwind from all of the days activities. The staff was helpful and kind.
