    DON'T STAY HERE!

    March 11, 2013

There are no redeeming qualities to this accomodation. This Is not a B&B but an international hostel. My partner and I were greeted by an Asian man who didn't say hello merely said, you don't have a booking. We had pre-paid and emailed the innkeeper several days prior. Due to his language barrier we had to speak with his sister who was the inn keeper via telephone to confirm our booking. Once established we found this man had been sleeping in our room and it was not clean or ready. He asked for two minutes to clean. We watched on in horror as he re-made the bed without changing the sheets! We had to stop and request fresh sheets, which again due to language we had to phone his sister for a second time to explain to him the meaning of clean sheets. We offered to go for a walk in the rain for 30mins to allow for the room to be cleaned. Upon return the room was cleaner but still not great. We found the bed to be sagging in the middle from an old mattress, the curtains were sheer and wouldn't keep any sunlight out of the double ceiling windows. The heating was inside a locked box and only able to be changed by the Asian man who again didn't understand what we wanted when asking to turn it up. The final straw was the communal kitchen which cost $5 to use which was unclean, with dirty saucepans still sitting on the stove from goodness knows when. We were there only 30mins when we decided we must leave. We requested a refund and said we wanted to leave. The process took more than an hour and at least 6 phone calls to 3 different people speaking varying degrees of English to be told they refuse to refund us. After much debate, they agreed on 2 nights out of 3 refund. We got out of their quickly as soon as we could confirm the refund had been put in place. I urge you to reconsider any visit at this facility. It's not worth it!

Very good downtown location for a good price. Linda was very friendly anf helpful. The room and the ensuite bath were clean and well equipped with a TV and air condition. The bed was good to sleep in and the balcony was nice for having breakfast there. Would always recommend it.
