Fitzgerald's Irish Bed & Breakfast

47 Mentor Avenue , Painesville, OH 44077 USA (Show map)

About

Fitzgerald's Irish Bed & Breakfast offers Irish hospitality in a unique 16-room French Tudor built in 1937. You will be charmed by its unique castle-like architecture. Very different from a hotel, Fitzgerald's Irish Bed & Breakfast was ranked fourth in the U.S. and Canada for best interior design and decor. Fitzgerald's offers four guest rooms, each with private bath. Come and admire the stirring architecture of the common areas indoors or lounge on the sun porch while enjoying the park-like yard to watch the migrating birds. Near Cleveland, Mentor and Kirtland, in Lake County. Just a short drive away are some of the most-visited trails and beaches in the Great Lakes region, along with opportunities to sail, swim, cross-country ski, golf, shop and more. Fitzgerald's Irish Bed & Breakfast is located 30 miles east of Cleveland in Painesville's historic district and is easily accessible from Route 2 or I-90. Our guests return again and again for the hospitality and fabulous breakfasts!

Good visit to Fitzgerald's.

The house very nicely decorated in Irish decor. Very homey. The room was nice and big. Hopefully we will be able to visit when it's warm and take in some of the sights.

Room with Character

4.0 on February 21, 2016

We stayed in the Bushmill room which is in the attic. The slanted ceilings gave the room character. The owners did a nice job of renovating the attic space. The room included a fridge and sink. There were complimentary snacks and drinks for a donation. The room has it's own bathroom with a custom built walk in shower and a jacuzzi oblong tub that was big enough for two! We were there for Valentine's Day and it was quiet in our room. Monday morning breakfast was a continental breakfast with plenty to choose from. Don't forget to park at the church next door and come through the gate. We would recommend this to other couples for a quiet getaway weekend.

Weekend getaway

Tom and Debra were wonderful people. We told them we were early risers and to our astonishment they had coffee and breakfast for us before 9am!

Nice B&B

3.6 on February 17, 2016

We spent a Valentine weekend at this place. The place was easy access, and although we had to park at the church parking lot it was not inconvenient. The house is gorgeous both inside and outside and the rooms are really nice, too. We got really good recommendations or solutions to our questions/problem. The package we had was absolutely worth the money we payed for. The only thing we were not lucky with was the breakfast. There was no flexibility in time and the food did not taste fresh (the hash brown was so crunch we could not eat it--and the milk was bad on the second day, too.)

Best Weekend Ever

4.2 on January 14, 2016

Tom and Debra made us feel right at home. The room and common areas were exquisitely decorated and comfortable to enjoy some leisure time in while there. Our hosts were very enthusiastic about us enjoying our time there, both in and out of the house. Location is close to everything, but far enough away from Cleveland to feel like a secluded getaway. We will come back just for Tom's breakfast scones! ;-) Highly recommend a stay here!

Personal, Comfortable, Quality

4.4 on January 07, 2016

The owners and caretaker both made our stay pleasant and relaxing. The continental breakfast seemed more than just continental. The room was clean, and contributed to the comfortable atmosphere. There is easy access to a number of activities and restaurants within 10 minutes. My wife and I have celebrated our anniversary twice and have enjoyed each time here. We would both consider staying here again and recommending to anyone looking for a B&B in Lake County.

an unexpected adventure

Since my wife and I have no GPS in our car and only have a flip phone we got lost. With tom's excellent help we were guided to the Inn while talking to him on the phone. Debra made us feel welcome and in our stressed out condition that was a pleasure. The scones and coffee at breakfast were excellent. Tom also guided us to a local Italian restaurant for dinner that was very good(large portions at reasonable prices). We enjoyed our stay

Debra and Tom were fantastic hosts -- extremely helpful and friendly, with great advice for dining on the town (Tom is an excellent cook, and the breakfasts he put together for us were wonderful!). My wife and I will certainly sing the praises of this place to anyone looking for lodging in the area.

Signature Dish

Ham and Egg Breakfast Braid
Our Ham and Egg Breakfast Braid is one of our most requested recipes. A flaky croissant is wrapped around scrambled eggs and a layer of maple cured ham. Most breakfasts are also served with one of Tom's many specialty scones. You will love them!
