Stone Gables Bed and Breakfast

We really enjoyed the decor and coziness of this victorian house! It was our 25th Anni. and Richard welcomed us to our room with an Anni banner.This is the only B&B I have stayed in that comes and cleans your room daily. Richard was very nice, helpful and accomodting in many ways!! Breakfast both days was absolutely great!! I would love to have more of his breakfasts! We had the tent room which was big and cozy. I loved the couch and tv area. It was a very nice place to read. Snacks, tea, hot cocoa and other beverages we available all day. With it being in Ohio City there are alot of great restaurants to dine at and very close to downtown Cleveland for anything you would want to do. We do not live far from this B&B but we will be staying again. I hope soon!!

Great location close to downtown attractions with a great host.

I absolutely love this place! This historic home is gorgeous, a nice blend of old and the comfort of new. Large public areas, rooms are spacious and well laid out. Beds are comfy, linens top of the line. We stayed in the South Mini Suite; plenty of room to relax, wireless internet, satellite tv, and a common fridge on the third floor, the owner has seen to it that all your needs are met. Look for the homemade chocolate chip cookies in the breakfast room.....Breakfasts are amazing! Request the Chocolate Waffles of Bananas Foster French Toast, Richard the owner is a great cook and a fabulous host. Ohio City is a great location; it's close to Lake Erie and you can walk to West Side Market, and several great restaurants.

We absolutely enjoyed a short mid-week stay in Cleveland. The bed and breakfast was close enough to downtown that we were able to walk to Progressive Field to watch an Indians game and walk to the west-side market. It was also a nice, easy drive to the art museum. Richard is a personable, delightful, and knowledgeable innkeep and the food was delicious. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the whirlpool bathtub. A wonderful stay!

We wanted to get away to celebrate our anniversary and were closed out of our honeymoon B&B but a search in our favourite city listed Stone Gables among others. The location is excellent- a short walk to the West Side Market district and Ohio City is a beautiful historic neighborhood. I tend to go by initial feelings and response when searching new places to stay online and the website was easy to use, the images of the B & B outstanding. A quick e-mail to Richard brought a speedy reply and from our conversation on the phone I knew this was the place. We were greeted upon arrival and given a tour of the inn, an outline of the few expectations of guests (all quite reasonable), and the 'keys to the kingdom.' The inn is beautifully restored and well appointed with art and antiques. The rooms are arranged to provide both easy access to common areas for reading, music, games, etc and most importantly to assure privacy when desired. We felt as though we were the only guests until we gathered for one of the best breakfasts ever. Eggs Benedict (which I have never personally liked before sampling Richard's version). The gardens of the inn and outdoor seating areas with a view of Lake Erie were also an unexpected bonus. I think we have found a new favourite place to stay when in Cleveland and also a great new place for a relaxing getaway for much needed r&r to alleviate the stresses of our jobs. First rate accommodations, excellent service, individual privacy, wonderful food, easy access to many of Cleveland's artistic and other attractions... it really doesn't get any better than this! My husband and I are from Pittsburgh. We wanted a weekend mini-break and a friend suggested Cleveland due to its proximity and range of things to do. The room (Red) was very comfortable, and nicely appointed. Breakfast was delicious (eggs benedict, french toast with bananas foster), and the location convenient to great restaurants, the west side market, and downtown attractions. The host was quite accommodating and had excellent suggestions for restaurants and activities. I highly recommend this B&B

Because I am almost 6 foot tall, I especially appreciated the king size bed and 6 foot whirlpool tub/shower in the Yellow Room.

Stone Gables Bed and Breakfast is THE place to stay if you want guaranteed comfort and hospitality at a reasonable price. The carefully restored architecture and historical works of art were definitely a part of the experience, along with a whimsical flavor in EVERY room (even a piano that plays itself in one of the parlors!). Richard was incredibly informative of the local hot spots and had available literature, maps, and offered us directions and history of the Cleveland area. The breakfast meal was an experience in itself-both the chocolate and carrot cake waffles were something to remember! What a fantastic B&B! We've stayed in many B&B's over the years and this ranks right up there with the best. Fabulous breakfasts, comfortable rooms, outstanding owner with great insights and recommendations for the area! Located near downtown but far enough away to be quiet. We had a great time and can't wait to go back!

Since this was our first visit to Cleveland, we didn't know what to expect. The location was perfect - easily accessible to many features. The innkeeper was very helpful and the food was great!

I loved the excentric and individualistic decoration, the beautiful house and the rooms -- and at a great price. Highly recommended.

Every detail has been thoughtfully arranged: from the collection of romantic candles, to the availability of snacks, to the great book and game selection, to the private parking lot, to the tasteful decor. And even such minute details as premium toilet paper, bath salts and q-tips are in place for guests. This is a beautiful building in a great location. Nearby dining is varied and intriguing and dining advice provided at this establishment is knowledgeable and spot on. A spectacular stay concludes with a delicious breakfast and the dark chocolate waffles are to die for!

Love, love, love this place! The home is beautiful, the gardens were in full bloom and the breakfast was heaven! We stayed for 4 days and did not want to leave. I was spoiled with the wonderful eggs benedict and Richard was very accommodating with our low-carb diet. He asked each morning what we would like to eat, and whipped it up to order in no time. The homes in the area are beautiful and we had lovely walks in the neighborhood. Many excellent, local restaurants are just a few minutes away and we tried quite a few of them. The food market just a few minutes away was a dream too - fresh meats, cheeses, pastries, candies, you name it. And everything we wanted to do was just a short drive away from this lovely home. Outstanding, Comforting and Beautiful!

The entire building is beatiful inside and out. The rooms are well appointed without being cluttered. The bed was very nice! The innkeeper is friendly, without being intrusive, and is an excellent cook. Highly recommended!

This was our first stay in a B&B and it was very nice. The house was nostalgic and beautiful! We were within a mile of downtown and perfectly located for our evening out. A real win with our stay was how every room is equipt with their own bathroom. My husband and I would definitely choose this B&B in the future for our next event up in Cleveland.

We discovered Stone Gables almost 3 years ago and stay here several times a year when visiting our daughter at Case Western Reserve University. Richard is a warm and personable host, excellent restaurant/sightseeing advisor, and so very accomodating. Breakfasts are delicious; don't miss the carrot cake waffles! We stay in Bed and Breakfast Inns wherever we travel--nationally or internationally, and Stone Gables is one of our favorites. In addition, Ohio City is a great area to stay in with the Westside Market and excellent restaurants nearby; it's equally accessible to all other areas of Cleveland. If you are traveling to Cleveland, this is the place to stay!

Stone Gables is just exquisite. Richard, the owner/innkeeper, is very friendly, knowledgeable about the area, it's history, and current goings-on, and just made our stay so much more enjoyable. He must have spent over an hour with us just answering our questions about the house and it's history. Richard is a great cook, and his dark chocolate waffles are like nothing I've ever had in a restaurant. This was our first Bed & Breakfast experience, and we're completely hooked. We can't wait to come back for a second visit! Also, Cleveland has a rep as a 'bad place'. Our experiences with this fine city were pleasing and surprising all the way around. There are plenty of excellent restaurants, the waterfront is clean and pretty, there is even an outstanding farmers market in town that warrants another visit to Cleveland all on it's own.

Nice place, great location, very nice proprietors

Located 1 mile from downtown, this B&B has a private parking lot, beautiful rooms, full kitchen to use, and great breakfasts. An awesome place to stay if you are traveling to Cleavland. Owner is very knowledgeable about the area and the history of Cleveland.

What a spectacular restoration, a blend of old and new. Convienantly located in the downtown area, minutes from many attractions. Richard is a great chef and a wonderful host.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights.We really enjoyed our stay and felt very comfortable.The house is beautiful!I hate staying in hotels no matter how nice they are.This B&B was very clean and felt like home. We definitely recommend it. Richard was very nice and helpful.He was very knowledgeable about Cleveland.

After a long day at the Fabulous Food Show at the IX Center, this was a welcome, relaxing treat. Richard is very accomodating, friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The jacuzzi tub was simply refreshing and the bed was just as comforting. Give it a try!
