  • Bayberry House Video: Located in the heart of Steubenville's North Fourth Street Historic district only 6 blocks from Franciscan University. Built Circa 1870, an outstanding example of Italianate Victorian residential architecture. The guest house features elaborate brackets, hood moulds and crests over the windows and front door, and a decorative tower with a mansard roof and decorative iron cresting. This home has had a number of prominent residents including J.M. Freeman, of the terra cotta works c. 1885; C.A. Freeman, secretary of the Central Sewer Pipe Co. c. 1902; H.D. Westfall, vice-president of LaBelle Iron Works c. 1915; and C.D. Simeral, publisher of the Herald Star c. 1929. Fully restored, Bayberry House is a whole house rental featuring a formal entry hall, living room, TV parlor, dining room, kitchen and full bath on the first floor. 4 bedrooms and a full bath on the second floor (two king rooms and two 2 twin bed rooms, for a total of up to 8 guests). The large wrap around front porch and yard with garden is available for your use as well. Breakfast coffee and baked goods are delivered upon request every morning and you can use the fully equipped kitchen to prepare you and your friends or family something special.

    Beautiful Victorian Mansions in the heart of Steubenville's North Fourth Street Historic District. Three blocks from Franciscan University and just 30 minutes from the Pittsburgh Airport. Nine guest rooms offering a variety of accomodations. Westfall House has four guest rooms each with private bath. There are two king guest rooms and two double twin guest rooms. Three rooms with fireplaces. Garrett House has five bedrooms, Francesca's Jacuzzi suite with king bed, fireplace, and private bath is our most popular room. The additional four bedrooms share two bathrooms, there are one additional king bedroom, one queen, one double and one twin bedroom. Both houses have a Living Room, TV room with some cable and a DVD player, wireless internet, AC and 4 rooms have working gas fireplaces in the fall and winter. Check in is 4 to 6 pm by appointment, please call when you are 1/2 hour away 740-632-2899. Check out is at 11 am. We provide a breakfast bar set up daily from 8 to 10 am in the kitchen.     The Barberry House was a very comfortable site on a quite street. I had one of the rooms with King bed and gas log fire place. It was all very restful as I prepared for a busy busy meeting the next day. Thanks for a great stay.

    We loved this Bed & Breakfast! It was beautifully decorated, clean, quiet, and would recommend it to anyone. The room was a little chilly (I would expect that in an older home and with tall ceilings) but a table top heater was available and took the chill off in just a matter of a few minutes. Wonderful place to stay!

    The house was clean and well maintained. Scott does a nice job seeing to our comfort. The only bummer was that it was a simple continental breakfast. Having stayed at other B&Bs a great Breakfast is part of the game. Thanks Scott, the house is beautiful.

    Thanks for your comments. I wish we could do more of a breakfast, however until the full inn is completed a continental breakfast is what we can offer at our guest houses. We offer a variety of rooms and price them accordingly and reasonably, often times lower than all the area hotels. If you visit again and there is something special you would like to have for breakfast, let us know and we will try to accomodate that request.

    I stayed here while on business at Franciscan University. Because I was there during the "off season", I was the only guest in the house. The owners have done a fabulous job restoring the home and I especially enjoyed the bed and linens. Very clean and close to downtown shops and restaurants. Definitely the best alternative to a sterile hotel.
