My wife and I shared the last three days at Farrell House Lodge. It was a celebration of our wedding anniversary and my birthday. What a unique gem! Settled quietly amidst fruit farms and wineries, it's so private yet so close to Put In Bay, Catawba, Cedar Point, and so many fine places to visit. The neatly kept grounds and the serenity of well populated trout streams can deter the most avid tourist from leaving the property to go elsewhere. Doug, Dugan and Stephanie treated us as if we were royalty. They even placed a vase of roses in our room as an anniversary gift. These are very special people providing a very special B&B experience.

My wife and I have stayed at Farrell House Lodge twice this year. She somewhat reluctantly agreed to accompany me there in August while I was fly fishing for Trout. Once she saw the beauty of the facility and experienced the services provided by the friendly staff, she suggested we return again. The Lodge and grounds are beautiful and she walked for miles during our stays there. Fall foliage was beautiful for our Oct. 16-17 stay. She says we will return.

We stayed overnight at the Farrell House in early-October while we were in the Marblehead area for a friend's wedding. This B&B is truly the best one we've ever experienced...it's quite charming and relaxing. The owner and staff are exceptional, very friendly and helpful. The 130-acre property is wonderful to walk and a delight to experience.

Just this past weekend (9/2014) we had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at the Farrell House Lodge with 2 other couples. Wow, what a treasure. If ever in the area there should be only one place to consider staying! From the amazing staff to the gracious owner, Doug - everyone was engaging and kind. The grounds are breath taking, make sure you take time to visit the very impressive and very old Oak on the property and enjoy all the luxuries Farrell House has to offer. I believe the Farrell House is just how traveling and vacationing was ment to be!

What a find! We don't fish but I absolutely love the grounds and the ponds filled with trout. It was such a peaceful place to relax with rustic elegance. The rooms were decorated beautifully and clean. The owner graciously moved us to another room when (Room 2) had a mattress softer than I cared for. Breakfast was adequate. There was a nice choice of wines and beers, available in the evening, on the honor system. We chose this over hotels that all seems fairly ordinary, and this was a great location to which we will return. Steve and Eileen Litchfield, Greenville Ohio

Our family was fortunate to stay at Farrell House Lodge at Sunnybrook Trout Club the weekend of my daughter's wedding held at nearby Mon Ami Winery. It was so wonderful to have all 20 of us staying together, celebrating this joyous occasion. The wedding of course was the highlight of the weekend, but our stay at the Farrell House added so much to our family's celebration. We felt like we were living in our own grand southern mansion! The grounds were stunning which made for amazing pictures. Some of us enjoyed fishing and using the row boat and the paddle boat on the lake. Others gathered in the game room to play pool and others savored the chance to relax on the rocking chairs overlooking the serene trout stream. There was something for everyone to enjoy. The house was so beautiful and well kept. Each family group was able to have their own rooms with bathrooms attached for privacy, and then we were all able to gather together as a family in the dining room, main living room and outside deck area. It was just perfect! The staff could not have been more accommodating. They were all so kind and went out of their way to make our stay as wonderful as it could possibly be. The food was delicious and the breakfast buffet they provided the morning after the wedding was amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We all want to return for a family reunion in the future and I'm sure my husband and I will be back for a weekend away. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we visit the Port Clinton/Sandusky area again. Thank you, Doug, and your entire staff!

A group of friends has met at Farrell House Lodge on several occasions. The three most recent at Christmastime. A lovely setting and tiptop service! Even came downstairs in the morning to a beautiful fire blazing in the fireplace. Totally enjoy this bed and breakfast and looking forward to many more stays there.

Doug is a hands on owner with a love for this property and an ability to make your stay the awesome. The home and grounds are beautiful. If you want to rest and spend time alone in the beauty of God's nature but close to everything, this is for you. We had such a great time and plan on coming back to enjoy all of the grounds, bridges and beauty. Not to mention spending more time talking with Doug. They even placed our motorcycles in a garage out of the rain. See you next summer Doug. Jimmy, Catherine, Therese and Bill

My husband and I recently spent two nights at the lodge. What a wonderful experience! Doug was so hospitable, as was the rest of the staff that we encountered, Chef Greg and Stephanie. We blindly made the reservation after viewing the website and reading the positive reviews. This is the best kept secret ever. The lodge has been beautifully restored and cleaner than any place we have ever visited. We walked the 130 acres of land only to become more enchanted with the grounds and trout stream. We would highly recommend the lodge and will be visiting many times in the future. Cindy and Randy, Ohio

Spent a night on our way back to Chicago. Very nice rooms and a wonderful set of grounds. Good dinner. Best is the warmth and hospitality of the owners. We will return on our next road rip.

Laid back yet attentive innkeepers, delicious made-to-order breakfast, cozy bedroom with soft, great smelling sheets and a comfortable bed amid beautiful surroundings. Don't miss out on a peaceful evening after a day of crazy excitement at Cedar Point (only 15 min away). There's is no place better to stay than Farrell House Lodge!

I almost hate to provide a review because I don't want competition next time we go. The Farrell House was simply wonderful. They have great public areas and land to walk. The late night glass of wine after a long day was perfect. I guess the easiest way to explain was that my wife said, "This is perfect. You made a great choice."

My husband and I just returned from a one night stay at the Farrell House and Lodge. This was our first experience at a Bed & Breakfast, so we weren't sure what to expect. The room was very spacious and clean and had all of the comforts of home. The staff was very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was fantastic. My favorite part of the stay, however, was the magnificent grounds that surrounded the Lodge. My husband and I were both speechless as we walked the acres of flowing streams and weeping willows. It was an experience I will never forget. Thank you for your hospitality and for sharing a little piece of heaven with us.

My husband and I first visited Farrell Lodge in February and had a wonderful experience, so much so that we returned this past weekend with friends. Our group was well cared for by Doug and felt right at home. The purpose of our trip was to visit local wineries but in between we enjoyed the serenity of the lodge. We walked the grounds, read peacefully on the front porch and dined on the deck. We will continue to be return customers, whether it is summer or winter.

House is beautifull. Room was spacious, beautiful , with comfortable bed. Breakfast was tasty. The territory around the house was marvelous, trout in the brook, weeping willows... Everything was great! Olga and Sasha

My husband and I stayed 2 nights on a quick weekend get-a-away with a little bit of fun at Cedar Point - it was so relaxing to return to a cozy home like setting instead of the usual drab hotel room! We enjoyed an afternoon stroll along the creek and admired the beautiful grounds. We will defiantly be returning! They treat you like family. Rita & Jerry

My wife and I stayed for the weekend as a 1st wedding anniversary, honeymoon treat to ourselves. It was quiet, clean, peaceful, and very relaxing. Almost like being on retreat, except with trout fishing! The food provided by Peg and Greg was great. The rooms were comfortable. The people we met were friendly and very helpful with trout fishing tips. We saw bald eagles, mink, otter, rainbow trout, brook trout, and brown trout. We even caught a largemouth bass in the nearby lake. The trout stream is the best I've seen. We are going to schedule our next "honeymoon" in October of this year: when we retire at the end of July we can do whatever we want, and we want to go back to Farrell House.

I booked bedroom #9 for a weekend Cedar Point trip. Doug warned me that the room would be small, but it was perfect! It was very cozy and clean. Breakfast was delicious. Sunday morning we had time to walk the property all the way to the big, famous oak tree. This is such a serene piece of property. It feels like you stepped back in time.

The Farrell House Lodge is truly an exceptional retreat! We had a wonderful and relaxing time enjoying the property and the beautiful house. The guest rooms are comfortable, beautiful and extremely clean. All of the staff are wonderful and do an amazing job! Everything was perfect...from the room to the delicious food to the gorgeous well kept grounds...we are already planning trips to return! Thank you so much! -The Chatfield's

In July 2011, my husband, children, grandchildren, and I enjoyed the most pleasant stay at the Farrell House Bed & Breakfast. It was like home away from home. The children especially loved fishing in the lake, but everything was perfect--the hospitality, the charming rooms, the delicious breakfast, and the serene nature walks.

Thank you to everyone at Sunnybrook for giving me a most memorable vacation! My stay at the Farrell House in Sandusky, Ohio proved to be one of the highlights of this August trip. Everything about the lodge and the grounds translated to a calming sanctuary that just seemed to enveloped anyone who crossed the hidden bridge over the first trout stream. Willow trees and white rockers, dining alfresco on the back deck, walking the acres of property, meeting and sharing stories with members of the Trout Club were all opportunities that I will cherish for years. From my first greeting by owner, Doug Lamb, and introduction to Greg and Peggy (chef and his wonderful, jack of all trades, wife), to breakfast (included) and delicious lunch choices to share while visiting with family and friends, to raiding the cooler for a midnight snack & finally falling into the most comfy, cozy bed (room #9) - obviously, I simply can't say enough good things about the Farrell House! I just wish I weren't 2500 miles away! Don't wait until you just happen to be in the neighborhood to check out and book this bed and breakfast. Make it your next destination get-away. Trust me, you will love every minute of it! ---Marlene, Long Beach, California

We enjoyed our stay in this very lovely setting. Very nice area to walk about and is away from all the "city-noise." The staff is just wonderful and exceeded our expectations.

We had such a great time at Farrell House. Doug was very nice and gave us a full tour of the lodge. In addition to a beautiful house the property is gorgeous. Even if you don't fish it is well worth wandering across the bridges and through the willow trees. If you enjoy floating around the pond there are kayaks, a canoe and a row boat to us for free.

We decided to celebrate an anniversary of our first date somewhere special, that not too far from home. I happened upon the Farrell House online by searching outdoor weddings in Sandusky, Ohio. When I saw the Southern style home, I just had to investigate. We entered the property by crossing over a small bridge, only to find several other bridges crossing Cold Creek. The willow trees were lined up along the creek that winded all along the front and back of the home. It just happened to be a foggy evening and this made for a very interesting effect. The innkeeper met us personally at the door, showed us around and took us to our room. The pictures on the website do not do this place justice. The rooms were much larger than I had expected, extremely clean and quiet. In the morning, we were greeted with a breakfast buffet that included cheeses, hard boiled eggs and various breakfast meats. The owner met us downstairs at the table and filled us in on the history of the 8500 sq. foot mansion. Doug made us feel so comfortable and graciously extended our check-out time so we could tour the beautiful surroundings. We walked along the bank of the creek and noticed the lush landscaping. I couldn't help but think what a beautiful place this would be for our wedding. There is a white gazebo directly behind the house and towards the left a huge pond that you could take a canoe. You could fly fish for the day if you wanted, and we saw several club members doing just that. There is a huge red barn further back that was newly painted and it was a striking contrast against the sky. The only suggestion I would make is to have a few more wedding pictures that include the creek/landscape, as it is just amazing!

Our stay at the Farrell House Lodge was super! Doug was a perfect host and Peggy did a wonderful job catering to our needs. The weather was perfect and the house was exceptional with perfect décor and a wonderful place for a peaceful couple of days to relax. My wife and I didn’t stay on the property every minute; we did take in some sites in Sandusky and Marble head, but we made sure to take advantage of what Sunny Brook offered. We had great walks across the 130 acres of the farm, strolled along the creek and saw close to 100 trout of all sizes, fished the lake (caught two bass), saw the beautiful old Oak tree and enjoyed sitting out on on the deck in the evening. The room we stayed in was gorgeous with a king size bed, wonderful fireplace and plenty of room. We went after the Labor Day weekend so the place was pretty much empty of overnighters but there were several people fishing the creek each morning and evening and we saw several trout pulled out and gently returned to the stream. If you’re looking for a beautiful country setting, stroll through nature and convenience of the city (less than 10 minutes to most sites); then we highly recommend you spend a couple of nights at the lodge. Our family decided to go to Cedar Point for two days, and we wanted a nice place to stay one night, and really didn't want to stay in a hotel. We looked into bed and breakfasts, and fortunately found this Lodge on the internet. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner. He took us for a tour and made us feel at home. The lodge was warm and inviting, and remarkably clean throughtout. They have several options for room/bed size, so there is an option for everyone. The outside deck was so nice and it had such a great view of the large backyard. The outdoor seating was perfect, and they even had torches you could light in the evening. And the breakfast was perfect. The entire stay exceeded our expectations and we might make this an annual trip. And if we do, we will certainly stay here again. Highly recommended.

My husband and I just spent our vacation at the Farrell House Lodge. It was our second visit there and plan on returning again next year. I hate worms, but love to Fly fish and he loves a worm and bobber, so he just watches me and enjoys the beautiful surroundings. We were the only guest during the week, so it felt like our very own home. During the day, we visited with members of the club and were assisted by a friendly and supportive staff. It is refreshing to know that there still are get-a-ways like Sunny Brook and I hope to support their efforts for many years to come.

My boyfriend and I stayed here over the weekend to celebrate his Birthday and also to have a little getaway for July 4th. I originally made plans to stay at a chain hotel but then happened to stumble upon this site last minute when looking for local B&B's in the area. I immediately booked a room here as soon as I found out a room was available. I was surprised to find there were rooms still available since it was July 4th weekend, but I know now it was because we were meant to find this hidden gem. The pictures and description were so whimsical that I knew this stay would be a royal treat. From the time we pulled up and saw this gorgeous property I knew this would be an amazing weekend. The owner Doug was a pleasure to meet he was probably one of the most friendliest people I've met in a long time. He was very humble and boastful about his property and for that it made us even more excited for our stay. This home is not only spacious but also very peaceful and serene. I enjoyed every moment of our stay from our romantic walk along the property to our wine and cheese picnic along the creek. I never thought places like this still existed and I'm glad that they do because The Farrell House Lodge made this past weekend one of the best to date. I certainly look forward to our next stay and hope you enjoy yours as well.

My husband and I have just completed our third stay at Farrell House Lodge. We have been there in the winter and now spring. It doesn't matter when you go it is always a thrill. The grounds are absolutely fabulous. The food and service is five star. If you are looking for a little romantic get away this is the place.

After hearing about Farrell House Lodge at Sunnybrook Trout Club from a few friends, my husband and I finally had the opportunity to visit the lodge and couldn't have been more pleased and surprised at finding this gem in Sandusky. The staff, our room, the grounds and the surrounding area were charming. And even though we are not into fly-fishing, we still thoroughly enjoyed visiting with and observing those members of the club who were fly-fishing during our stay. There was even a club-hosted event where a group of ladies came for the day for a retreat and were given fly-fishing lessons! Also high on our list of recommendations is the Lake Erie Perch dinner. If you can arrange to be visiting the Lodge during one of the planned perch dinners, you will experience a tasty treat. Everything was delicious! We spent a couple of days touring the Sandusky area and found several wineries where we enjoyed some tastings and also took a ferry-boat ride to Kelleys Island. All in all, a great stay with lots to do. I would say the Farrell House Lodge at Sunnybrook Trout Club is definitely on our list of places we want to revisit!

We recently spent a weekend at the Farrell House. It was more than I expected. The food was wonderful and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Most important it was very clean and well kept. We will be going back again.

We held our team building event for two days and one night at the Farrell House and were delighted at the accomodations and service. The Ferrell House is charming, relaxing, beautiful and clean. The staff was attentive but not intrusive. We found a wonderful continental breakfast waiting for us in the meeting room in the morning and the tv on and tuned to the hocky finals game when we returned from an outing in the evening. Fly fishing in the peaceful streams that meander through the property was both relaxing and fun. We are all excited to tell our family and friends about the facility and, of course, looking forward to returning soon.

We were delighted with an impromptu spring getaway last week that found us staying at this gracious B&B. It would be enough that Farrell House Lodge is a perfectly scaled version of a southern mansion, complete with welcoming innkeeper, cozy gathering spaces, lovely dining rooms and inviting bedrooms. However, it also happens to be on the property of a genteel trout club. Our generously-sized room overlooked the stream and included a charming reading corner, a large fireplace, private bath, and a comfortable and beautifully-linened bed. The outdoor space is there to explore and was complete with willows along the trout steam, blossoming bushes and trees and an immaculate, pillared white porch with rockers. We wanted to be indoors and outdoors at the same time. Everything was quiet and thoughtful and we learned that many parts of the lodge and grounds had a story. We will definitely return because on our short stay, we did not get our fill of the amenities. For one, we’d like to try the seasonal Lake Erie Perch dinner, not served at the time our stay. Our days were spent visiting a few of the many nearby destinations including a winery, two fine restaurants and shoreline wildlife areas. Thank you to Farrell House Lodge for a gem of a getaway.
