I had been looking forward to visiting the Orchard House Bed and Breakfast for months. My anticipation grew greater each time I read Andrew's blog and viewed the gorgeous pictures on Facebook. I felt as if I already knew all of the residents (human and animal) of the Orchard House, prior to even meeting any of them. Not a single one was a disappointment. Each animal was friendlier than the last and we had so much fun wandering around the farm petting the animals and visiting with them. The grounds were immaculate and the pens were well-maintained. These barnyard animals were surely living a life of luxury. From the ducks, to the bunnies, pigs, goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, dogs, peacocks, chickens ... I'm sure I'm missing a few. I truly appreciated Andrew taking the time telling me their names and how each one has a different personality. Don and Andrew were the most gracious of hosts! Because we were enjoying the lovely weather and shopping in downtown Columbus, we unfortunately missed wine and cheese hour. Andrew was extremely accommodating to our late arrival. The Barbizon room faced the front of the house which welcomed the most wonderful sunlight in the morning. The linens of the bed and bathroom were absolutely luxurious - I slept so soundly. The only thing I missed with staying in the Barbizon room was a bathtub in the attached bathroom. However, there was a shower with endless hot water, which was almost as relaxing. Breakfast in the morning was made-to-order and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed sipping our coffee in the sunroom while planning our day and visiting with the other guests. I cannot wait to return to Orchard House and I'm even more excited about sending my family there so they can have the same fun and relaxing weekend as we did. Thank you Orchard House for exceeding my expectations!

I wish we had been able to stay longer at the Orchard House Bed & Breakfast. Our room was beautifully appointed and very large. Not only did they ASK about food preferences and/or allergies, they delivered my veggie sausage on my plate! The owners, both of whom we met, were so courteous and warm -- I really got the feeling they'd have done anything to make our stay more comfortable. If my daughter goes to college nearby, we'll be back!!!!

Great surroundings, laid back atmosphere, GREAT breakfast each day and the service from Don and Andrew was fantastic and most attentive. Would definitely return for another visit when I am in the area. Thanks so much for your efforts in making my daughters wedding a great success. You guys went out of your way to make it her special day..

My best friend and I wanted a cozy place to stay while we were in town. The Orchard House far exceeded our expectations. The Orchard House is charming with contemporary touches. We stayed in the Barbizon room and it had everything you needed for a pleasant stay. The entire house is clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The breakfast was great, the best blueberry pancakes we ever had. There is a orchard garden, hammock, and farm out back with llamas, alpacas, goats, peacocks, ducks, chickens and more! The inn keepers were friendly and inviting but not in your face like other places. We really enjoyed ourselves and are already planning to come back for a longer stay! my hubby and I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday in this wonderful place, very callm and peaceful, we had our own separate suite. we are used to hotels, this was a wonderful surprise, the breakfasts were so good. the place is clean and very welcoming. the town of Granville is very charming w/many shops to explore. loved seeing the animals-llamas, alpacas, goats, pigs, dogs, and a few I am sure I have missed, very welcoming place to stay, thank you Don and Andrew, we had a wonderful time.

My husband and I were searching for a peaceful getaway to celebrate our anniversary so after eliminating the thought of big city bustle we decided on a bed and breakfast within a half days drive from home. We found Orchard House after searching Living Social Getaways and made our decision based on the excellent reviews across the board on various travel sites. The grounds were beautiful. The house sits back off the main road and is surrounded with mature trees. There is a courtyard garden full of beautiful flowers to the rear of the main house which is the guest house. The hosts reside in the carriage house behind the main. The back grounds house the barns and wonderful Llamas, Alpacas, Sheep, Goats, Chickens, and Pigs. Occasionally the hosts adorable dogs will be out there too. When we arrived Don greeted us and gave us a tour. We felt right at home immediately. The house was a delight and a mixture of antiques, eclectic decor and modern amenities all beautifully co-mingled. It was also perfectly immaculate with not a speck of dust in sight. There are home made cookies and tea, coffee, or soft drinks available. They also offer a wine and cheese hour daily which we truly enjoyed. The morning breakfasts were delicious. On the first morning we had blueberry pancakes and there were more blueberries than pancake! Day 2 was angel food cake french toast. Amazing creation! This bed and breakfast was certainly a rare find and we are going to make it our annual anniversary trip. Thank you Andrew and Don for being such gracious hosts!

It’s been a couple of weeks since I stayed at the Orchard House in Granville, Ohio, and each morning I wake hoping to still be tucked away at the quaint inn. If you are looking for a weekend getaway where you have the opportunity to meet others but don’t feel the pressure of having to engage or be smothered – Orchard House is may be the perfect place for you. The innkeepers, Andrew and Don, have struck the right balance of being welcoming and pleasantly visible and invisible. I had the pleasure of staying in the spacious Whitman Room which is perfect for a couple alone or traveling with small children.Each night, I melted into the heavenly bedding and ample supply of pillows covering the room’s queen-sized bed, and then I found myself lingering as long as I could the next morning only being lured out by the delectable aromas that permeated my room from the kitchen. Besides my heavenly bed, breakfast was served according to my schedule, and portions were plentiful including a blend of fresh breads, fruit, a protein as eggs or meat, juice and an unlimited supply of coffee. Besides Andrew’s preparation of the bacon which is by far the best I’ve ever had, the evening wine and cheese hour was certainly a highlight that I planned my day around. It was a lovely opportunity to meet other guests, try different wines and sample local cheeses and learn more about the community.My weekend ended with me feeling refreshed and grateful for discovering this gem – a rare combination of quality of service, charming accommodations and tasty delights for a great deal. If you are looking for a place to escape and enjoy the beauty of the farm setting, Orchard House should top the list –- it certainly is mine. -Amee R

We were weary after travelling several hours from Missouri and looked forward to a restful night. The accommodations we lovely, and we were served a fabulous breakfast of French toast, bacon, strawberries, juice and coffee. We also loved the farm there. Highly recommend!

This was our favorite romantic getaway ever! It's just what we needed to rest, refresh and revitalize. The breakfast was awesome, and the wine and cheese hour was a nice touch. We enjoyed walking the large grounds, visiting the animals. The room was so luxurious and was very clean. We would definitely visit again. C and L

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orchard House....we met our son and his family there, and our grandchildren could not get enough of the outdoors with the bunnies, the llamas and all the other fun sites and experiences. Huge front yard accommodated frisbee and generally running around for young legs :) Accomodations were top-notch and food was plentiful and delicious. We plan a return visit soon~

My friends and I stopped for one night at this beautiful B&B. We were late in arriving but were welcomed warmly by one of the owners. Our rooms were beautifully furnished but the windows were painted shut so there was no fresh air for sleeping. Breakfast was indeed very good, fresh fruit and maple syrup on their version of French toast. I was surprised that Andrew, the other owner, did not want to chat with us but went on with the household chores while we were there, not the usual friendly manner I associate with B&B owners.

Hello! I just wanted to apologize for not stopping by to chat in the morning. We find some of our guests like to chat, and some do not, and in this case I must have misjudged. Since I also have the animals to feed in the morning, I sometimes need to rush out after breakfast is served. Again, I apologize, and hope you are able to come back and enjoy a conversation over wine and cheese!

The Orchard House Bed & Breakfast offered us a much needed retreat. We felt like we had escaped to our country home. The place is charming and welcoming. The room offered a quite place to retreat to, the dining room a place to enjoy a glass a wine, with or without company. Breakfast was delicious.

I had a lovely stay at the Orchard Inn and would highly recommend this charming and lovely B&B. The rooms were immaculate and beautiful and I immediately felt welcome and comfortable; Don and Andrew are fabulous and kind hosts. The breakfast was excellent and creative as well. Additionally, there are beverages, snacks, and cookies available throughout the day. The 5:30pm wine and cheese spread was an enjoyable way to spend the evening. I can't wait to go back!

I enjoyed a lovely, albeit, quick stay here en route to my family's house for Thanksgiving. The room and bathroom were extremely clean and well-appointed. Very comfortable and welcoming. Since I was departing early the next morning, I had requested a breakfast to go. It was comprised of a bagel, cream cheese, orange juice, and a banana, and I found it a bit lacking--a nice homemade scone or something of the sort would have been more on-par with the B&B experience. But overall, I had a fabulous time and look forward to passing through again! Hopefully I'll be able to stay a bit longer next time :)

The only thing disappointing about Orchard House was that we could only stay one night - we like it so much we would have skipped our Saturday night plans if another guest had not already booked our room. We arrived a little later than their wine and cheese hour, but instead of telling us "too bad, you just missed it" Don greeted us, showed us to our room, and opened another bottle. We quickly made friends with the other 2 couples staying there and the Irish Setter "Bob Evans." Stay at Orchard House - you will not be disappointed.

We felt at home the minute we walked in the door! Our suite was great - spacious and comfortable, with a sitting area, and even a balcony to relax on. The home was very nicely decorated, with several sitting areas to relax in, or watch television. Food was delicious. We appreciated the Wi-Fi, wherever we wandered. Views are beautiful, and the Orchard House is in a quiet, peaceful location. We are already planning future stays at this lovely B&B, whenever we have events to attend in Granville!

My husband and I went to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary and to relax. The grounds were amazing, and the breakfasts and baked goods were phenomenal! We've already booked our next visit with Don and Andrew.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Our hosts were most welcoming and the wine and cheese hour made an extra special start to each evening. Breakfast was served at our convenience and was excellent! The antics of the farm animals was entertaining.

I enjoyed the Orchard House immensely, and only wished I could have stayed more than one night. The house itself is gorgeous -- a nineteenth century, graceful, large house on a beautiful acreage. The owners are welcoming and relaxed; the whole atmosphere, in fact, is welcoming and relaxed, like a real home away from home. Each afternoon Andrew places fresh cookies or other scrumptious items out for guests in the huge first floor, filled with cozy spots to sit and talk or read or watch t.v. The dining room is lovely, with windows looking out onto a meadow, and the breakfast Andrew made was superb: homemade corn pancakes, yummy, with the best bacon I have ever tasted, and great coffee. I'd recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone; it would be especially fun to have a family group here, filling the 3 rooms.

I mean that in the absolute best of ways. Orchard House is a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The rooms were charming, clean, and tastefully decorated. I tend to avoid B&B stays because I find that most have overwhelming Victorian décor…much too busy for my tastes, and Orchard House was just what the décor doctor ordered. I chose the Whitman room for my stay, which I found to be incredibly comfortable. The bed wrapped it’s arms around me like a cloud. The linens were soft yet crisp. The bathroom was Immaculately clean and modern, complete with Gilchrist and Soames products. Interesting conversation was at the top of the order during wine and cheese hour with the wonderful proprietors, Don and Andrew. And talk about a fabulous breakfast? Try hot corn cakes served with hot pure maple syrup, perfectly done brown sugar bacon, a heaping bowl of fresh strawberries, cold fresh orange juice and hot coffee. The food is heavy on natural local products and the quality shows. Andrew also makes some killer jams in his kitchen, and I managed to take away a jar of what is sure to be a blue ribbon winner at the Ohio State Fair this year…Carrot Cake Jam. My elderly mother has managed to down the whole jar…she thinks it is just this side of heaven! My only regret was that I had to check out early when a possible appointment in Columbus became a reality and I had to quickly pack and be on my way. You can be assured that I will be visiting Don and Andrew at Orchard House again.

Thanks so much to Andrew and Don for a lovely visit! The house is beautiful and so inviting. the breakfasts were delicious. It was close enough to Columbus but we could still enjoy the small town of Granville. I plan on returning soon with friends.

The room was spotless, the bed extremely comfortable, and the hospitality superb. There were so many delightful details attended to...beverages and cookies available at all times, a welcome tray with water and even treats for our dog in our room and a bedside internet viewer to mention a few. The setting is peaceful and Granville is about a five minute drive away.

Everything from beginning to end was picture perfect. The house is decorated wonderfully- modern yet country, not chintzy at all like so many B and B's. The house is full of complimentary snacks, games, Netflix, etc., plus you can visit the animals on the farm, including llamas and bunnies. The room was comfortable and quiet and the owners are so welcoming. We had a complimentary breakfast and wine and cheese hour- be sure to ask about their homemade jam. A wonderful place if you want to get away from the city or just the everyday without having to go too far.

The house is beautiful and very historic. Our room was decorated very well and included the attached bathroom. Our bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious and very fresh, as the eggs used came from the coop, the strawberries from the field. Would definitely recommend a stay here, and will be back should we be in the area again. The hosts are personable and welcoming.

Our visit to Orchard House was perfect. The owners attention to detail made us feel pampered. They have mastered the art of hospitality in a perfect setting.

I was tired of staying in the traditional hotel and was looking for something unique. I found it at Orchard House. It really is like staying at a farm, without the work. The rooms are decorated tastefully, while maintaining the integrity of the centuries old farm house. You have your privacy, as the owners live next door, but don't worry, they are never far away if you need something. Just ask and they will take you to see the animals out back (llamas to baby chicks...don't miss the lamb, he's precious). The evening wine and cheese gathering is the perfect time to relax and casually chat with Andrew and Don about Orchard House, as it seems like everything, including the names of the animals, has an interesting anecdote to accompany it. Find out the history of the farm house and all that went into the renovation. Waterloo, the baby lamb, was born there, so you can hear about that first hand. From animals and artwork, to the interesting lamps, old books, hand crafted and antique furniture (the dining room table is spectacular), you can spend hours browsing this B & B as if you were in a museum. Homemade breakfast and fresh baked goods, combined with the unique charm and comfort you will find at Orchard House will keep you coming back when you are in Granville or just need a short respite from City life. For those of you who are wondering, the rooms are clean and very nicely decorated; the bathrooms are fully renovated. Sure, it looks and feels like country, however it is only a few short miles to the Denison campus. I highly recommend Orchard House to any Denison parent or visiting alumni. Students at Denison love family visitors, but they are still plenty busy on the weekends and typically can't entertain you every minute. You will have plenty to keep you occupied during your visit to Orchard House. What a great place to stay!

My wife and I stayed 3 nights for a nearby wedding and could not have asked for more. They've got all the big things sorted – beautiful rooms, amazing home-cooked breakfasts, beautiful common rooms, all the usual amenities in high quality – but what makes this place particularly special is their attention to small details: like complimentary home-cooked pastries, quality coffees and teas available at all times; a superb and original decorative/artistic sense; Netflix and Pandora on demand; making and then turning down the bed morning and eve; and much more… And the setting is also special, with animals around but by no means invading or causing allergic reactions for my typically quite sensitive wife. Enjoy a hearty breakfast and take a walk through the fields out back before going about your business in Columbus or quaint Granville. A pleasure all around!

Beautiful historic home with very comfortable bedroom and bathroom.

I stayed here with my wife in early 2011, in the Walden Room. The bedroom was nicely decorated and cozy, with lots of light and plenty of space. Orchard House was just opening at the time, so some of the other rooms were works-in-progress, but it is clear the Andrew has a decorator's eye and will outfit them nicely. The breakfast was delicious (we had waffles one morning and spinach souffle the next), and correctly-sized (i.e. not gluttonously large). Being a new place, I'm sure Andrew will be working through new recipes for a while, and ironing out kinks, but there were no kinks while I was there. It was fun walking around the farm and meeting all of the animals. While the typical measures of a B&B (the room & food) were spot-on, the farm aspect of Orchard House is what makes it distinctive. Two new sheep had just arrived the day we also arrived, and we spent a while just watching them chase the llamas around. Add in all the other animals (chickens, dogs, rabbits - I could go on) and it's impressive that Andrew has the time to run the B&B AND take care of all of them. Children will get a kick out of the animals (hopefully not literally!) and will probably be able to help feed them. I liked the distance from Columbus - it was far enough that you felt like you had escaped from the city, but was close enough that we were able to go out there one Saturday night. Granville and Davidson are right down the road, and if were visiting someone at Davidson, Orchard House would be my top choice. Overall, Orchard House is a great place to stay right now and I imagine it will only get better with time. We'll try to stay here whenever we are in the area.
