4.0 out of 5Exceeded My Expectations!
August 26, 2012
My family rented both the cottage and the "Century Home" for a long weekend retreat. We were a very large group (about 25) and the two houses accomocated us very nicely. The price was very reasonable (see the posted prices), so our expections were somewhat low. The pictures on the websites don't do it justice. We were very pleased with the experience. The Cottage is lovely...not 5 star, but very nice with skylights, jacuzzi tub, etc. The couches in the cottage are new and comfortable (my husband and I slept on those). The older home is rich with history, and is very large, with many, many rooms to accomodate a large group. This home is over a hundred years old, and there is information in the cottage about its past...very cool. Some folks don't appreciate "old" and "historical"...we found it delightful. The main home has a large deck, front porch, screened in porch, etc...lots of places to escape to. The kitchen is huge, and well equipped. If you don't feel like cooking, there are restaurants within walking distance. These homes would be great for a "girls weekend", or "scrapbooking weekend", "reunion for college friends", etc. There are some fun things to do nearby as well. Lake Erie, lovely parks, wine tasting rooms, covered bridges, etc. It would be helpful if the owner would publish more detailed info about the layout of the house and cottage, such as number of bedrooms per building, size of the beds in the rooms, etc. It would have been easier if we had been able to plan "who was staying where" in advance. Also, the air conditioning in some of the rooms in the century home was someone lacking, so we moved around in the middle of the night because it was just too hot to bear sleeping in some of the rooms. It worked out just fine in the end though. Would I go back? Yes.

This rating is for the Corporate suite only. This suite is NOT in the main house or conected to the main house. Don't expect fancy anything in this suite. It is definately plain jane. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in this suite but we only stayed in the upper 2 rooms. One room had 2 twin beds, no air conditioning but had a fan,we were suppose to be able to lock this room but there was no hole for the deadbolt to go into so we had to take our valuable with us all the time. Even after talking with the owner about this it was not fixed. The other room had a hard double bed and airconditioner which worked very well, we used it to try and cool the whole upstairs. The upstairs bathroom was very small, only one person fit in it at a time. There is a full kitchen and they provided some breakfast cereal & milk. The living/dining room was adequate with a flat screen tv.We did have a laundry in the basement which was nice. The 3rd bedroom which we were not using was the best of all the rooms, the other bathroom was attached to it. They have wifi but it is only available if you are on the front porch. No iron or hangers to be found. Did not meet anyone that managed the place until after being there for 3 days so we do not know what was available to us in the main house. There is no housekeeping or on site maintenance person and the spot that was suppose to have trash cans didn't, so we could not even take out our own trash. We did not dine there at all. We did like that we had the whole place to ourselves but definately your small town no frills B & B Corporate suite that can be used as a family suite in my opinon.Would I stay here again, yes, just because the price and location were good.
4.2 out of 5Charming and Cozy
December 04, 2011
My husband and I have stayed at the Liberty Inn's main house several times, and will continue to do so because it is full of character and charm, and is an excellent value. The moment you enter you feel you've stepped back into kinder, gentler times. The rooms are very clean and tastefully decorated, and the common areas very inviting. The kitchen is well equipped, and there are a couple large dining tables, but our favorite is the little table for two by the back window overlooking the wooded ravine -- beautiful in both summer and winter. If you're the independent sort, like we are, and are happy to eat out or cook your own meals, the Liberty Inn is ideal because you can come and go as you like without having to feel concerned about the innkeeper's schedule.
4.4 out of 5Beautiful, clean and quiet

I stayed in the cottage, and it was wonderful. Everything was beautifully decorated and very clean. The prices are insanely low considering the exceptional quality. The breakfast is self serve, and you have access to a full kitchen. The only negative was that they promised to have milk and other breakfast items in the fridge, but didn't. They have several local restaurants that are great for breakfast anyway. I would like to see them get a real website or put more information somewhere about their accomodations. Next time I go, and I know I will go back, I'd like to try staying in the main house.
