My husband and I stayed here about a year ago and absolutely loved it! We were on our honeymoon and we timed it up just right because for that weekend we had the whole house to ourselves. The quiet seclusion and privacy made our stay there memorable and unforgettable. This would be perfect for newly weds or family reunions. Two thumbs up on this one!

Everything was great! While we did not need Timberframe to provide meals, I rated them "outstanding" on dining because of the kitchen facilities. We needed a place where we could prepare and serve a rehearsal dinner for 20 people and their kitchen worked out great. We had room for several of us to be working in the kitchen at the same time; the oven and microwave unit was top of the line. The refrigerator/freezer was large enough to hold everything for us, plus we had the refrigerator in the Studio Suite! With the tables outside, the screened in area, and the dining area, there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the meal. The whole weekend was relaxed and comfortable and the country setting was very peaceful. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a place for either a quiet get-away or a large family gathering.

We found the guest house over a year ago by way of a brochure in a local restaurant. My mother is in assisted living in Beverly and we had been staying in motels in Marietta. Once we tried the house, we have not stayed anywhere else. For our purposes, the house is perfect. We are a family of cooks and the kitchen is well stocked with equipment and supplies. The main level is roomy, airy, and comfortable. At Christmas, the house if decorated beautifully with an enormous tree in the bay window tower. The location is lovely and it is very quiet here. The beds are comfortable and the furniture is good for sitting and talking or the mid-day nap. The owner and manager do a B&B about as well as it can be done. The wi-fi network is very good, satellite TV and DVD player are useful and there is a big pool table in the basement. There is always fruit and breakfast items in the kitchen and lots of snacks. This is a really fine place to stay and really useful to us for the kinds of visiting we need to do when coming from Virginia and Oregon to get together. There are a lot of things to do in the area and some useful things to know about: About three miles down Rte. 60 toward Marietta is Witten's Farm Market. Produce at this time of the year (July) is fantastic. Marietta is full of stuff to see, has some good restaurants, and you can ride on a sternwheeler. Some good golf courses in the area and a visit to Blennerhasset Island at Parkersburg is a must. Perhaps the most enjoyable thing about the house, at least for our family, is that it comes provided with two watch cats. Wembley and Siam live in the owner’s apartment but hang out on the patio all the time. They are very friendly & love to talk. I have a lot of pictures of the cats and the house on the web: http://picasaweb.google.com/curranj The folder is labeled Timber Frame Guest House, November 2009. John Curran Oakton, VA
