Grey House is a modest B&B ideally located a few blocks from village center. Large continental breakfast with fresh melon & berries and sweet homemade breads. Gracious innkeepers even provided gluten-free waffles. Rooms were small but clean. Prices very reasonable.

We love coming to Skaneateles. It is a great town with lots to do. Staying at Gray House is very convenient with everything a block away. This time we stayed in Sisters' Suite. It is such a beautiful and spacious room. Thank you for another great stay Bob and Val!!

We had a wonderful stay at Gray House. The rooms are beautifully decorated. Everything is neat and tidy. Breakfast was set on diningroom table with china and linens and we were able to help ourselves during the morning rather than having to be seated at a certain time. The owners greeted us and told us to make ourselves at home which is just what we did. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and backyard. The location is perfect! We never had to drive since Gray House is located right in the village. I would stay at Gray House again and recommend it to others.

Unremarkable B&B in a remarkable town

It wasn’t the uninspiring cold continental breakfast of cereal and fruit or the kids in the suite who were running the floor above our heads at 5:00am. It wasn’t the volunteer fire siren that went off the next morning at 5:00am in the back yard and it wasn’t the tiny bathroom with the showerhead 4 feet up the wall that made me shower on my knees. It was the total disinterest in running a B&B by the innkeepers that turned me off to this place. From the nasty phone call at 5:00 pm asking why we weren’t there at 2:00pm when we said we might ( we were enjoying one of the many wineries along the way ).Or when I asked if they had any recommendations for dinner in Skaneateles and the innkeeper silently pointed to the folder of menus near the front door. Or the fact that they had zero interest in even conversing with their guests other than taking care of the business of collecting money. On the plus side it was a short walk to town and there was ample off-street parking.

    Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your input. We try our best to accommodate all of our guests’ needs, including families with children. Whether our guests would like a quick breakfast before running out the door to go shopping or sitting and relaxing in our dining room, we try to make their stay enjoyable. We remodeled a Victorian home and tried our best to keep it authentic to its original build, including the smaller bathroom. We’re truly sorry you were unhappy with your stay. We wish you would have informed us while you were here, and we could have remedied the situation to make it a better experience for you.
