4.0 out of 5Family weekend in NYC
October 07, 2012
This little room was just perfect as a home base for my family (2 adults, 1 child) as we explored the city for the weekend. Clean and spacious room looks much better in person than in photos here. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. Neighborhood is just lovely, just down the street from park and around the corner from wonderful restaurants, including a great little coffee/breakfast shop. Great value for NYC!

I stayed here for a week and I liked it a lot. The room looked a lot better in person and I loved having my own entryway. The wifi went in and out, but I didn't care, I was out on the town and in meetings most of the time. I didn't try the food, but there were so many restaurants and bars close by that I didn't have time to. Overall, the host was nice, stayed out of my way, kept a tidy apartment and kept me happy with many clean towels and pretty sheets.

This is a spacious and well-appointed basement room with private (albeit somewhat dingy) entrance, comfortable double bed, large en-suite (private) bathroom and ample closet space. The bathroom has both shower and bath, the latter in the form of a jacuzzi with room for two - ideal for unwinding after a day out in NYC! The room and facilities were scrupulously clean, but the lighting was a bit dull. The house is situated in a residential street on the fringes of Harlem, some 10 blocks north of Central Park. There are shops and restaurants on the busy main street just around the corner, and it is a short walk to subway and bus stops providing easy access to downtown Manhattan. We didn't try the house meals, preferring to eat out or buy our own food (small fridge and disposable cutlery are provided). The only drawback was 'technical': weak and unstable wi-fi connection and no in-room mobile phone (T-mobile) signal - irritating given our modern-day reliance on electronic devices. Overall, excellent value for money. [Ignore our rating for 'dining' - we have provided this only because the programme won't accept a review without a rating for each category!]
