New York may be cold in winter, but you are assured of a warm welcome in On the Hudson House. The rooms are cosy, spacious and tastefully decorated. Jane is a solicitous hostess, more a helpful companion than a landlady. She serves a different and... read more

Innkeeper Response
A poor review is indication that there is room for improvement. We can only grow from here. 1. As a great cook I do pride my self on making a great breakfast. It is inexcusable for a good cook to serve an inadequate meal. My apologies. That will not happen again. 2. We ask our guests to let us know if they need anything. Some do and some don't. However we have devised a means for guests to let us know they need fresh towels. Just leave your used towels outside your bedroom door. 3. Since we cannot physically move the location of our B&B, we encourage potential guests to be sure that they do not mind taking the train for twenty to twenty-five minutes to Times Square. 4. There ARE two subways close by. The 1 train which stops at almost all major tourist attractions is a two minute walk from the B&B and the C train which is about a three minute walk from the 1 train. We apologise for not being able to keep the train open and running on all weekends. The trains in New York run all night and need a lot of maintenance. This is mostly done on weekends. The MTA always provides shuttle buses to the nearest open subway on such occasions. It is common all over the city so please bear with her. 5. Since the dynamics of our work schedules have changed, Mark cannot be here as much as he was when we started the business because he is traveling a lot more recently. So sometimes he will be here and sometimes he will not. 6. We DO have a TV, not immediately visible. We will make that possible. 7. We DO have a blow dryer in the bathroom. Just not mounted on the wall like in a hotel. As a B&B our goal is to provide you with all of the basic amenities and all what we advertise as well as anything you need if it is within our power to do so. So let us know if you need anything even if it is not immediately visible. Even coffee at the crack of midnight! This has been an enlightening review and I will consider it exactly what it is. Just another lesson learned.
