    Great location

    August 20, 2012

Nice brownstone - apartment had lots of character. Very high ceilings, beautiful mantle and other nice touches. Loft bed was surprisingly comfortable, and we are pretty picky about mattresses. There was some mold on the tub, but otherwise neat and clean. It was a bonus to have a kitchen, etc., and the ability to entertain guests during our stay. Window air conditioning unit was very effective. Great location within easy walking distance of many restaurants, grocery, shopping, subway, Museum of Natural History, Central Park. Owner was friendly and accommodating. We would definitely consider staying here again.

    Location the only positive

    April 30, 2012

This B and B is in a very good location, but that positive is severly mitigated by the condition of the space. The couch is stained and threadbare, the area rug is stained and dirty, and there was dust on practically every horizontal surface in the place. There is a wonderfully carved 19th century fireplace, and while I understand that the elaborate carvings are a chore to keep clean, the fact is that the place was so dusty that the place smells odd. The toilet, sink and tub were clean enough, but the bathroom floor could have used some bleach applied with a scrub brush, and the plastic shower curtain and plastic shower curtain both had black mold. Too bad; these are minor issues that could be easily solved.

    Innkeeper Response
The sofa arm has indeed been hard used by children and needs a slip cover, which I keep forgetting to obtain. I see no stains on it or the carpet, which is three years old. The entire apartment had just the day before been "deep cleaned" for 3 hours by two professionals and I could find no dust on any surface. There was a tiny hint of mold on the inner shower liner - I have washed both the liner and the outside curtain. Smells? Only cleaning materials that I can discern. I like a clean apartment but I don't like to clean, so I hire professionals.
