The Elephas is located in the lovely village of Interlaken, NY, in the middle of the Finger Lakes between beautiful Cayuga and Seneca Lakes. It is a beautiful old stately house (Turn of the Century) that was built in 1870 and still has original woodwork visible throughout the house. When you stay with us you will be minutes away from the lakes. Interlaken is about 20 minutes north of Ithaca, home of Ithaca College and Cornell University, and great restaurants and shopping too! Seneca Falls, (It’s A Wonderful Life!) Geneva and Waterloo (great outlet shopping) are to the north about 20 minutes. The Village of Interlaken, NY is in the heart of the Historic Wine Trail. So, if you're looking for great wine and food with superb treatment, you will love it! There are Casinos in the area; Finger Lakes Casino and Tioga Downs Casino, and there is great history too. The Women’s Rights Museum in Seneca Falls where the movement began, the William Seward Mansion and the Harriet Tubman House both in Auburn, NY. There are many historical sites in the Finger Lakes! There are many opportunities for boating, fishing and swimming for all. The Elephas is located minutes from some of the great State Parks in the area such as Taughannock Falls State Park, Lodi State Park, Cayuga Lake State Park and Sampson State Park. You will also have a great opportunity to shop at great “authentic” Amish Markets.

    The Elegant Elephas

    September 17, 2012

The Elephas is the best kept secret in the Finger Lakes, but not for long. The rich, antique decor of the Elephas is a perfect metaphor for the fertile region where it resides. Culture and history abound and is no further than a 30 minute ride in any direction. Theaters; The Hangar, The Geva, The Kitchen, and Syracuse Stage to name a few - and historic homes; Harriet Tubman House, Susan B. Anthony House, Elizabeth Cady Stanton House, Frederick Douglass House, and The Eastman Estate for starters. Nobody can do it all in a weekend... or a week. The Elephas is centrally located to doing it all, or a relaxing get-away to do nothing at all.
