5 out of 5The Inn is making a comeback!

So happy to see the renovations by this new owner. A very friendly, comfortable and historic Inn . The best place to stay in the area. The suite was spotless, quiet and extremely cozy and comfortable. Looking forward to our next stay!

My husband and I decided to use a Bed & Breakfast gift card that we received on Christmas for some much needed get-away time. Unfortunaley, we picked a "snowny" cold Saturday night for our one night trip. We stayed in the Presidential Suite. The Suite was very nice, but very cold. The hotel attempted to warm up the room with 2 electric baseboard heaters but it didn't quite do the job. The room has been updated with a very nice bathroom minus a "jacuzzi" . I did book the room just because of the 'working fireplace" that was shown in the pictures of the room. Imagine, our disappointment upon check-in when we learned from the hotel clerk that the "fireplace" has not been working since she started working there in May 2011. I think that this should be told upfront to all customers who are interested in booking of this suite. The windows are in dire need of a good paint job. We paid $195 for this suite because it was winter. In the summer the rate goes up $100 -overpriced for a suite minus a jacuzzi. Also, since it was freezing out and the roads were terrible we were forced to stay in. The outdated TV in the bedroom had very bad reception and we could not watch it. We ate in the tavern and the food was very good and the service was great! In the morning, we decided to have a hot breakfast instead of the cold that was "free" with our room. The service was again great along with the food. If you are going to advertise as a B&B then I think that a nice hot breakfast should be part of the deal. I think our stay was just ok, mainly because of the weather, and our cold noisy room (it is above the kitchen) . We would not stay there again. We also found out after check-in that the suite 272 has some history too it. Sort of creepy and made me uneasy--of course, my hubby was intrigued by it. The lobby is beautiful along with the tavern and huge dining room.

Inn staff were friendly and helpful and the pub style restaurant was great for dinner. Continental Breakfast was included, but coffee could be better. Offering a full breakfast menu would be great. Chose and paid for a larger room specifically for the fireplace, which we were told upon arrival wasn't working. I suspect this wasn't a recent issue and would have appreciated knowing this prior to booking. The Inn is a beautiful building, full of charm and has a lot of potential. The room was clean and the mattress comfortable, but the decor is tired and the plumbing fixutres/bathroom need to be redone. (The toilet needed to be serviced twice durning a three day stay) Would definitely consider staying at the Inn again, and would contact them directly to inquire on room updates before booking on line.

The food was outstanding (breakfast and dinner). Great service. Everything was very clean. The AC units were loud in the middle of the night every time they kicked on and off. It was difficult for my wife to sleep, as she is a light sleeper. She was also spooked knowing she was in room 272...is it really haunted?
