    Peaceful and Restful

    October 10, 2012

I love the back roads of Crown Point and found Stoney Lonsome to be perfect for my needs: quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was delicious and Nancy and John's company was gracious and friendly. I enjoyed my after breakfast visits with Nancy and look forward to another visit. Thanks, John and Nancy! Monica

Wish we could have stayed longer

    August 10, 2012

We chose this B & B because we wanted to be in a quiet area but near to hiking and sightseeing in the Adirondacks. We only had one night left on our vacation, but I sure wish we had been able to stay longer. Nancy, our host, upgraded us for free to two rooms from our original booking of one room with two beds for the three of us, so our daughter got her own room for the night, which was a nice change. The beds were so comfortable and there were quilts on the beds and family photos on the walls, which made it seem so welcoming. Breakfast was amazing, and we stayed longer than we had planned because the company was so good. Nancy had her family there too, and we enjoyed meeting them and their kids. They had picked fresh blueberries which she served on yogurt, and her egg and veggie casserole was fantastic as was the selection of breads to go with the casserole. There is an easy walk down their road to a beaver pond that their friendly dog will escort you to and back, and the place is surrounded by green grass and forest, like a little oasis in the middle of a wooded paradise. So peaceful, and the hosts are so friendly, you will just love it here.

If you want a place that gives you the real flavor of staying in the Adirondacks, book the cottage at Schroon Lake B&B. Very well maintained, tastefully decorated, quiet, clean and delicous breakfast. The Innkeepers are friendly, helpful and attentive ( without being intrusive ). They make you feel welcome and relaxed. My favorite B&B!

    Excellent Visit!

    December 24, 2010

The host and hostess were exceptionally welcoming and friendly; not for a moment did we hesitate in recognizing their offer of their home as ours as heartfelt. Located in a very beautiful area, with access to hiking trails right from the house, and with reasonably local access to numerous other trails (our primary purpose in traveling to the area) If we visit the same region, I'd not hesitate to return.

    Mid-week Splendor

    December 13, 2010

My husband & I were the high bidder's at a school auction for a 3 night stay at Stoney Lonesome. Being new to the B&B stays after becoming parents of college kids & no longer needing a hotel suite, we were not sure what to expect. We made mid-week reservations with Nancy Ockrin (one of the owners) and looked forward to our trip from the Buffalo area. Upon arrival, Nancy was open to letting us choose from a few rooms that were vacant. We chose the Internation Room which was very comfortable & clean. We had an outstanding stay!! Nancy is the BEST breakfast cook--I teased her that she was spoiling my husband & that I could not live up to her high quality of fresh eggs w/vegetables and homemade blueberry pancakes. Everything she made was amazing & her gracious hospitality made our stay perfect. On our final day, she was aware that we had missed celebrating our 25th Anniversary, so she set the table special & said a lovely prayer. The living area was available to us every night with plenty of movies to choose from. Our stay was some of the most peaceful time we have ever spent together. We took in sights & restaurants that she recommended & none of them were a disappointment. Be sure to visit the Forts in Crown Point & Ticonderoga. Venture into Vermont for a day and you have the PERFECT VACATION getaway!!!

    Unique and Exquisite!

    September 22, 2010

We are a young couple that was looking for a getaway on Labor Day weekend, and we found it! Stoney Lonesome was nestled in nature to our hearts content. We got in late, and the family was very accommodating. The following morning, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and got a tour of the property. They're sustainability systems were awesome! Solar panels, wood burners, and all sorts of other goodies and gadgets.

    Innkeeper Response
It is always a joy to have young people visit! Glad you like our set up, and come again! John and Nancy

    Wonderful Get-Away - Wonderful Hostess

    September 05, 2010

Not your 'usual' B & B, the hostess is what makes this place so special! A great discovery off the beaten path. After driving from the hustle and bustle of NYC, it was extremely relaxing to stay at Stoney Lonesome, with its homespun feel, a refreshing change from the fast paced city. First we had a scenic drive from the highway past Schroon Lake and Paradox to the wilds of Stoney Lonesome. We received a fine welcome from Nancy, who handled her 'full house' on this particular night all alone with elegance, warmth and just the right touch of humor. Fantastic breakfast! She made us feel right at home with her open manner and gentle touch. It was almost like visiting with family, somehow. We regret not to have met John, but found his solar panel installation super. Hope to pass this way again. -Amy, Philippe & Carolyn from Paris

I so enjoyed accommodating your family, and sincerely hope you can come again. Next time, an extra set of keys though-lol!!! Nancy
