Centrally located in the historic district, The White House Inn is just a minute's walk to Cooperstown's museums, shops and restaurants. This 19th-century Classic Greek Revival home was built by George Bowne, a reputed pirate who amassed his fortune plying the waters off the southern coast of the United States, resettling upon retirement to this quaint, upstate village on the shore of Lake Otsego. The White House Inn provides the comforts of home, the elegance of fine lodgings, gracious hospitality, and the convenience of parking on site and walking to local attractions. Enjoy the seclusion of our private garden with inground pool. On a cool evening, relax by the fireplace in the gathering room, or repair to the parlor with a good book. At the end of your day, retire to tastefully appointed rooms and private baths. Awaken in the morning to a full, gourmet breakfast with delightful treats fresh from the oven daily. Personal service is our commitment to make each guest feel special whether here on business or vacation. Allow us to assist you in planning your tourist activities, making your dinner reservations, and guiding you to places of interest. We want your visit to Cooperstown to be comfortable and exciting!

This White House is the Real Deal!

    March 29, 2010

I had the pleasure of staying at The White House Inn, 46 Chestnut St., whose staff is most welcoming and provides the richest of hospiality to be found in town. The Inn is right across Chestnut St. from Doubleday Field, where they used to play the Hall of Fame game each year, and where on most days during the baseball season you can find baseball games being played on the field all day. Baseball lovers will love the Inn's autograph wall with signatures from everyone from Babe Ruth's granddaughter to Sparky Anderson and tons more. For those that love the rich warmth of old colonial living, big comfortable beds, privacy like it was you own home, and a social environment of your choosing, you can't miss. The really lucky ones will be able to book a spot in the carriage house: A real carriage house from another time with two beautiful bedrooms, each with its own sliding door access to a restful patio right by the pool, and a shared social area and kitchenette, plankwood floors and an ambiance too tough to describe with justice, make this my choice when I stay there. I have been there twice and will return, each year I hope, when the winter winds are blowing, the fire places are lit and the magic of the Inn is palpable. Ed Landers, the innkeeper, is a walking storehouse of Cooperstown history as well as the best travel advisor you can ask for. Tell Ed what things you're interested in and he'll tell you where to go to enjoy them. And finally, breakfast is beyond belief. Ed, his wife Margie and her sister Pattie can work wonders in the kitchen as well as for your sense of comfort and welcome. More importantly, they make you feel like part of their family! I can't say too much in praise of these folks and their establishment. So, if you're into Cooperstown and you like B & Bs, The White House Inn is for you. Take it from The Wiseman, you'll be glad you stayed there!

    Outstanding Bed and Breakfast

    March 17, 2010

Great meals freiendly atmosphere, make this the bed and breakfast to stay while in the Cooperstown NY area. Ed (the Innkeeper) and his entire staff were very helpful, providing us with areas of interest in the area. I have stayed there twice thus far and plan to return at least once a year to visit the area, which has so much to offer everyone. If you are going to stay anywhere in the Cooperstown area, The White House Inn is the place. Check out the Wall of Fame during your stay.

    ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS

    November 12, 2009

We recently stayed at the White House Inn and have to say that it was the best experience ever! The owners and staff are absolutely fabulous and the breakfasts are unbelievable. We can not wait to go back. We stayed in the Red Room and it was a king bed at that time. We felt like family from the first and regretted having to leave. We can not recommend the White House Inn highly enough.
