This 19th-century Classic Greek Revival home was built by George Bowne, a reputed pirate who amassed his fortune plying the waters off the southern coast of the United States, resettling upon retirement to this quaint, upstate village on the shore of Lake Otsego.

Directions to property:
From the south: NYS Thruway (87) north to exit 21 (Catskill). Rt. 23 west to Rt. 145 north to Rt. 20 west. Then Rt. 80 south to Cooperstown. Continue through traffic light in village. Rt. 80 becomes Chestnut Street. The White House Inn is 1-1/2 blocks from light, on right.
From the east: Mass Pike to NYS Thruway (90) west to exit 25A (188). I-88 west to first exit (24) toward Duanesburg. Follow Rt. 20 west to Rt. 80 south to Cooperstown, as above.
From the west: NYS Thruway (90) east to exit 30 (Herkimer). Follow Rt. 28 south to Cooperstown. At Chestnut Street, turn left. The White House Inn is 1-1/2 blocks from turn, on left.
From the north: NYS Thruway south to Albany, then 90 west to exist 25A (I-88). I-88 west to first exit (24) toward Duanesburg. Follow Rt. 20 west to Rt. 80 south to Cooperstown. Continue through traffic light in village. Rt. 80 becomes Chestnut Street. The White House Inn is 1-1/2 blocks from light, on right
