On the East River waterfront facing the panoramic Manhattan skyline, the Greenpointer offers wonderfully stylish accommodations. The bed & breakfast is located in the hip enclave of Greenpoint-Williamsburg which is at the epicenter of what's new & exciting in New York City. Occupying a historic wooden row house that dates from 1820 are the 2 designer guest rooms. Old house lovers will be charmed by the details which include wide plank floors, tin ceilings & even a claw footed tub. The house has also been studied by archeologists who disvcovered a historical treasure trove in the building. In contrast to the traditional building are the vintage mid-century modern furnishings [objects dating from the nineteen forties to the seventies.]. Many are original designer pieces, some with important provenance. In addition there other unique contemporary pieces, art & accessories all adding to the unique creative ambiance of the Greenpointer. Greenpoint, mainly a combination of low rise industrial lofts & 19th century a row houses, has the atmosphere & scale of a cool waterfront village. This fashionable Brooklyn retreat with fabulous restaurants, shops and bars is also ultra convenient to all Manhattan has to offer. For the savvy alternative traveller, we bring you not only a stylish location but stylish accommodations. Welcome to the Greenpointer bed & breakfast!

Amazing large clean rooms with enviable mid-century modern decor and a most accommodating innkeeper!

    September 26, 2012

I was a late twenty something traveler looking for something a little more private than a hostel but more affordable than a hotel, so I looked on B&B.com and found the Greenpointer. I almost thought this place was too good to be true. The price was perfect, the room was huge, clean, and furnished with awesome mid-century modern pieces (there was a large Burke Saarinen table in my room!) The Inn is in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on quite Green Street with a two minute walk to Franklin Ave. and five minute walk to Manhattan Ave. where there are plenty of wonderful shops, coffee bars and restaurants. I stayed at the Greenpointer this September for three days and had a great experience. Glenn, the innkeeper/owner was more than accommodating and extraordinarily friendly; I arrived three hours before check-in and he let me leave my belongings in the room and gave me a map of the area pointing out places to shop and eat. I honestly don't know where else you could stay in a hip area of Brooklyn for $100 a night and get the space, style and accommodations that are offered at the Greenpointer. Glenn was a great host. I'll be back! -Jaimee
