Incredible Guesthouse: Mi Casa Tu Casa Guesthouse was mentioned in the NY Times as one of the best kept secrets of the Bronx (cityroom.blogs.nytimes/2008/05/12/bronx-hospitality-unnoticed-by-the-tourist-guides/?scp1&sqBronx%20hotels%20&%20torism&stcse). Walking distance to Yankee stadium and to the Bronx Arts Museum. Seven restaurants, 3 fast foods, Seven-Eleven (open 24 hrs), Bronx General Post Office, Pregones Theater and Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture as well as Hostos Community College are all within a 2 block radius. Nearest Motel on north side of Yankee stadium is $178 a night. Our prices are much less, making a NYC vacation affordable. Includes Direct TV and WiFi. Laundry service also available. Grand Central & Times Square 20 minutes away by Subway #4, #5, & #2 trains located 1 block away. Bottom line, closest commute to Manhattan from the Bronx. Each room has a Latin theme and the entire house is decorated with art from many artist that have stayed in our Guesthouse. Beautiful and relaxing backyard and Greenroom. World famous Tats Crew painted a Mural in the backyard that blends with a running fountain that is a must see. In the Fall of 2009 the Gateway Mall & Waterfront River Park will open two blocks West of Mi Casa - Tu Casa.

I stayed at Mi Casa Tu Casa and it was a wonderful surprise in the Bronx. It was not far from Yankee Stadium and Pregones Theater and right across from one of the best pizza shops in the Bronx. And if I had to mail something back home there is a huge US Post Office just one block away. Great place to stay if you are visiting anywhere in NY because the 2 and 5 train are also one block away. Julio is a great host. Will definitely do it again. Being born and raised in the Bronx and now living in Florida, it is a great place to stay. Like all the themes in the rooms.

I loved the accommodations, hospitality & new friendships. Julio goes above & beyond for his guests. The only thing missing was a fresh cup of coffee in the morning.

My two children and I stayed with Julio for three days in late June and had a fabulous time. Our trip to NYC was specifically to see the Yankees play, hence our decision to stay at Mi Casa (even though people told us we were crazy for staying in the Bronx). Although we did have reservations, our worst fears were all completely unfounded, while our lesser fears (normal ones of big-city life) were settled by just being smart (as you would anywhere), walking like we knew where we were going, and not advertising the fact that we were tourists. Therefore, I recommend Mi Casa highly for people who want to feel 'like a local' and/or feel like they are living with a favorite uncle. The proximity to Yankee stadium made our game night so much easier, and any nervousness we felt at walking around the area at night was unfounded since everyone is walking around the area after a game to get to their cars/buses. We took the subway, dined in local restaurants (the Sunlight Cafe gets two very big thumbs up from my 12-year-old son and we had a lovely evening at Giovanni's Italian Restaurant). Julio has fruit and allows full use of the kitchen, so we enjoyed coming down to breakfast when we wanted to and having what we wanted to have (instead of feeling like we had to meet a schedule). The room was big and lovely -- it overlooked the frontyard and was perfect for our stay. We are very glad we chose to stay at Mi Casa. Julio was a great host who puts a lot of heart into his motto of 'come as a guest, leave as a friend'!

I traveled with my wife from Massachusetts to the South Bronx to attend my 50th class reunion at Cardinal Hayes HS on 151st St. I was surprised to find out about Mi Casa Tu Casa and that it is located one block away on 150th St. It is also one block away from the 149th St subway, which we took the following morning morning to attend a special ceremony for our class at St. Patrick's Cathedral. We were skeptical to stay at Mi Casa due to the negative perceptions people have of the South Bronx. However, we decided to stay there anyway and are glad we did. Julio was a great host.
