    Great First Night

    May 24, 2012

My wife and I had just completed the first day of our Motorcycle trip. It was a pretty cold day and we were very tired, having only had a few hours sleep the night before. Needless to say, the big bed and hot shower were much needed amenities. My wife and I stayed in the Captains Stateroom. It was not like going into a Maritime Museum, but it was a fun unique flare added to the room, as I am a merchant marine by trade. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was not connected to the room, however it was right next door and was for our room only. The shower was a nice old clawfoot and the bathroom was clean and spacious. The house itself was an interesting old home and was beautifully maintained. Although they have a pool, it was too early and not opened yet. The breakfast was also nice and having a newspaper at the table was a nice bonus also. The breakfast was unique and quite tasty, my wife and I actually got the recipe for the egg dish we had. The day we left I had a couple of adjustments I had to make on my bike (it was a brand new bike and I had no tools), they were very helpful and provided me with the tools necessary to do what I needed to do. My only complaint was that I thought it was closer to main street that it was. I thought it would be an easy walk. But it was pretty far and quite a bit farther to the restaurant where we had dinner. But we rode the bike to dinner (which was great too), and there was no problem. It was a little pricey compared to the other inns where we stayed, but hey, its in NY...everything is more in NY (even upstate). Overall it was a good stay and I would go back for sure.

Our stay at Mt. Beacon B&B was extremely pleasant. The rooms and grounds are beautiful, the breakfasts delicious (especially the home made baked goods) and the hosts warm, friendly, and helpful.

Mellow Mid-Week Stay at Mt. Beacon

    September 30, 2010

My husband and I stayed at Mt. Beacon on a Monday and Tuesday night during our vacation. We stayed in the Captain's Stateroom and found the room well-appointed. It was comfortable and elegant without being stuffy or overly formal. Guests should note that this particular room has a private, but separate bath accessed through the common landing. The bathroom was beautiful and exceptionally clean with full housekeeping services, but guests may want to bring a robe for passing from room to bath. Breakfasts were excellent and we felt welcomed and appreciated how relaxed the innkeepers were. They were friendly and welcoming while respecting our privacy. We were surprised to find that the other two couples were people around our age (late 20s to mid 30s). This is a great location for heading out to hike when the weather is good, and is a good jumping off point to take the short five minute drive to Main Street shops and restaurants or down to Dia Beacon. It's also a great location to head out to explore other parts of the Hudson Valley. Visitors should take note of Dia Beacon's schedule as we found many shops and restaurants in town closed when Dia was closed (Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the fall). We would recommend Mt. Beacon to anyone visiting the area.

    a beacon of joy...

    February 24, 2010

My girlfriend and I stayed here for the valentine's day weekend and could not have been happier with the experience. Such a short drive from Brooklyn for such a wonderful place. The food was outstanding, the service was friendlier than most homes, and the master suite was perfect. To top the whole thing off, local hero Pete Seeger was in the inn visiting the owners when we arrived and he stayed and chatted with us for about 30 minutes about town, history and politics. The entire experience was exactly what we needed for a weekend trip and the Mt. Beacon Bed and Breakfast was the absolute best choice we could have made. I highly recommend the place to anyone even thinking about visiting the area.
