5 out of 5Delightful stay at Chrystie House
August 25, 2012
Chrystie House is a beautifully restored colonial home with all modern conveniences and complete cleanliness. The innkeeper was extremely attentive and served us with a delicious fresh breakfast of fruit, quiche and croissants. I would definitely return.
5 out of 5A true gem in Beacon New York, a memorable experience
June 11, 2012
This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast; we were unsure but after our experience at the Chrystie House we wished we lived closer and could visit more often - share this experience with our children, family and friends. The house was full of history and we have not slept so comfortably since I can remember. We enjoyed our conversations with the inn keeper, Yuan and his home was full of goodness and grace; I'm a tough customer and every night I was happy to return after our day out. My husband and I easily found many things to do in Beacon. We had the fortunate timing to enjoy the strawberry festival; many displays from local farmer's markets, craftsmen and music; an abundance of things for kids to do and participate in. We strolled the downtown area, taking in the galleries and local shops. The Roundhouse was a perfect stop for a scenic lunch from a gourmet hot dog to the ceviche I loved, and several craft beers to sample. We drove around enjoying the area and exploring its history. We found beautiful parks, remnants of turn of the century industry - really loved that, amazing being in a place where so much American history originated . At night the Newburgh waterfront was a 10 minute drive with riverside patio seating at impressive restaurants and bars - from fine dining to casual. And at the end of your day or to relax for a bit in the afternoon I can honestly say the Chrystie House is where you should return - we just loved it. For a small town like Beacon you will easily find things to do from the time you check in until it is time for you to return home.
3.8 out of 5Honest review - You should give them a go

If, like me, you're no fan of cookie-cutter plastic hotels then you'll enjoy Chrystie House. It is a very old historic building with original character that the Innkeeper maintains and supports. If you're expecting to find a receptionist, concierge and head chef then you'll be disappointed, at Chrystie House, you're staying at Yuan Lee's. He's an artist by nature and his vibrant personality is imprinted everywhere in the rooms in the form of pictures that he has created, the well stocked book shelves and the extra twist you'll need to give the faucet to stop it dripping. I give you my honest review because I think that simply hitting 5 stars for everything detracts from the nature of Chrystie House - it's not perfect, it's far from the glitz of a 5-star manhattan hotel and much, much better for it. Overall, we loved our stay and would consider Yuan Lee as a friend that we stay with in Beacon.
4.0 out of 5A gentleman with uncanny taste!
August 14, 2011
I adored the owner's deep intelligence, exquisite taste and talent for art and most importantly for me, conversation! This was a low key luxury experience for me. And I was there for one evening only in October of 2010. He was very gracious and helpful. I truly hope more people continue to stay at this lovely inn. K

4.6 out of 5A Beautiful, comfortable gem of a Place.
May 25, 2011
This B&B, in a historic, colonial style, painstakingly restored house was a real treat. The home is beautifully furnished with museum quality furnishings, antiques, and new period furniture. The owner, is a talented artist, a knowledgable historian, and a great conversationalist. Our room was very spacious with a king bed, wood burning fireplace and huge bathroom with original tiles and rain shower head. From the huge windows, we overlooked the four landscaped acres of trees and gardens. Very quiet and peaceful sleeping! If you don't have a car, it's a quick taxi ride from the train station, and to the quaint main street of Beacon for shops, restaurants, etc. You could walk both as well. Great breakfast provided daily. If you're looking for a quiet, elegant retreat in a tranquil setting with an attentive innkeeper who makes you feel welcome and at home, this is your place!

This charming, newly renovated 19th Century home was the perfect place to stay, away from the city for the weekend. The furniture, artwork, architecture, was elegant and meticulously designed. The service by our host was warm and welcoming . My husband and I stayed in the Henry Winthrop room and it had all the basic amenities. The room and bathroom had windows with views of the property. We felt like we were brought back in time. We highly recommend staying here!

Chrystie House is a dream come true. My girlfriend and I had come to Beacon without many expectations and our stay at Chrystie House turned it into a truly memorable experience. The history of the house (home of one of the Founding Fathers), how perfectly it has been renovated and decorated (just take a look at the pictures and you'll see the level of detail and care), the gorgeous grounds, the attention of the owner- a formidable artist with a clear passion for Bed&Breakfast and Chrystie House, the comfort of the room (fantastic bed, and I am very picky!), delicious breakfast...all of the above make Chrystie House a MUST if you visit Beacon and plan on spending a night or two.
