Bernerhof Inn is the perfect get-away spot! My husband and I had the best time here. We instantly felt right at home when Steve greeted us. Our room was so cozy and clean. The dining was delicious, and we experienced both breakfast and dinner there. They also have a top-notch bar that we frequented during our stay. We would recommend staying at the Bernerhof Inn during your time in the gorgeous White Mountains!
My husband and I stayed here for a four day weekend in the fall. The entire experience was far better than I even anticipated. The hosts were friendly and knowledgable and served an delicious menu of rotating options every morning. Each morning we woke up to the smell of bacon wafting through the halls and each evening ended with munching on the delicious homemade cookies they bake fresh every day. Our room was lovely and the fireplace was a wonderful addition. Also the porch and breakfast area has the most perfect view of Mt. Washington! We definitely plan on going back!
If you've never been to Notchland - GO!!! Its fantastic AND unique. Superb setting, & just a great fun place to stay. Very homely - Ed & Les are so welcoming & full of great tips to make your stay enjoyable. Fantastic rooms - every one is different & the really hard choice is deciding which one you're going to book! And of course we love the Berners!
This was our second stay. We were in the main inn our first time, back in June. We stayed the Carriage House the most recent time, in October. The best part about this inn is the food, the friendly people and the nice little bar. Owners Kevin and Jenn are friendly and welcoming as are all of their staff. Breakfasts are delicious and include locally sourced ingredients, which we truly appreciate. Dinners are a local foodie's dream. Everything perfect and delicious. I will say our room and bed in the main house were really comfortable, but the Carriage House room was not as nice. The bed wasn't as comfortable. There was a really low beam in the room, which my very tall husband had to be careful not to hit his head (he did once, and it was kind of funny actually...) The bathroom ceiling was the same height as him too! (Not so funny, as the light fixture is right in the way of the toilet for a tall guy, if you catch my drift...) Still, we will definitely return. Most likely we will opt for a room in the main inn, next time!
Outstanding Inn. Have retuned each year since Rob has owned the Inn. His expertise at breakfast is amazing. You never leave the table hungry. No need to look any further this is the Inn to book if you are visiting the area.
The Inn is beautiful, the food is great and so is the location. Steve and Katey obviously love what they do which is what makes the place extremely special. You feel like family from the time you arrive. The friendliness, extra treats and desire to meet your every need makes your stay exemplary. We can't wait to return!
We stayed at the Carriage House. We booked the King Suite. The rooms were clean and had beautiful views of the fall foliage on the mountains. The breakfast was very good. I had the french toast and it was delicious. I love this place because it is historic. The grounds and rooms are well kept.
We absolutely loved our stay. From the moment we arrived at the Inn we felt at home. The owner was very helpful and fun to talk to. The rooms were well appointed and clean. The food was amazing! Would definitely love to return.
My husband and I stayed at the Bernerhof Inn for a long weekend to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Steve is very welcoming and is a great host. We ate in the pub on our first night and the dinner was excellent, however the breakfast the following morning was even better! A choice for every taste. The location is close to so many outdoor activities that it makes it difficult to chose what to visit. We will definitely be back!
Very nice host and good breakfast. Owner has not made any effort to "pretty" up or modernize the rooms. Looks and feels every bit of 1768, if that's what you like. We have stayed at other B&B's that stayed authentic, but made an effort to replace really old wood and paint. I'm sure George and Martha would have liked it, but it was a little too much like 1768 for us.
We had an excellent stay! Steve and Katey were very attentive. The Inn is well maintained and very charming. The breakfast was delicious. We really look forward to returning to the Bernerhof!
Wow! What a great first impression! Arriving after dark, we drove up to the Bernerhof Inn in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and the outdoor fire pit was beautifully lit, all of the lights in the house were on, and the weather was crisp and cool. What a beautiful sight! Steve, the owner, greeted us when we arrived and was an incredible host throughout our stay. We had so much fun visiting with him throughout the stay as he provided us with great recommendations for sights to see in the area. Politics aside, we arrived back to the Inn after having dinner elsewhere, and hung out in the Black Bear Pub, having great cocktails, and had quite a fun time watching the presidential debate and enjoying our time with Steve and other guests. Our room was wonderfully comfortable and beautifully decorated. My only regret is this southern couple could not have enjoyed this incredible Inn for several more days (time did not allow). Would return in a heartbeat! Steve has a gift of hospitality and we feel we have made a new friend.
We had a fantastic time (my mother and I) at Bernerhof Inn. Steve greeted us and lugged our suitcases upstairs where we discovered a beautiful suite. We loved the historic touches throughout the inn and the homey feel. We ate supper at the Black Bear Pub at the inn enjoying the chicken schnitzel. The beds were super comfortable. In the morning we had four choices of entrees for breakfast with a substantial amount of food- we could not finish it all. We especially enjoyed the personal, friendly nature of the inn. When my mother left a few things, they went out of their way to look for the items. We definitely would stay there again and hope that life brings us back that way.
The rooms are incredible, stunningly styled, and comfortable. Innkeeper Steve is hilarious and very helpful. He assisted in helping my sister and I plan day activities and even scheduled a reservation at an awesome area restaurant. Don't miss the massages, you won't want them to stop and leave you feeling so relaxed. We did not have any meals during our stay however; there are afternoon and breakfast home made treats. They are so yummy! I plan to stay again in the future and I would recommend the Bernerhof Inn Bed & Breakfast to everyone looking for a beautiful place to stay within the beautiful White Mountains. Thank you so much Steve and Katie!
This place really has everything going for it. The best spot in the area to relax and enjoy the country air all year round. The staff are so polite and accommodating. the restaurant also is such a pleasant surprise. Interesting walks right around the premises. Highly recommend.
We recently had the pleasure of staying in the Wyatt House Country Inn towards the end of our New England holiday. The only mistake we made, which was only apparent after we had left, is that we had not stayed in this property for longer! On arrival we were warmly greeted by Elaine who booked us in swiftly and then gave us a tour of the Inn; which was tastefully decorated with plenty of old-world charm. Elaine gave recommendations on where to eat, one of which was next door to the Inn called 'May Kelly's' where we ate on our second night and received 10% discount after Elaine gave us a card to show to them. This is a restaurant we would recommend. We stayed in the Angels View room, which has it's own entrance on the side of the property, a bathroom with a huge Jacuzzi and a real flame fire that added to the ambience. We had been promised a mountain view, on the first day this is where Elaine failed (we had arrived on a cloudy wet day!) but the following morning we woke to a fantastic view of trees and mountains. Outside of the room we had our own small deck and a large garden area which has a view of the nearby river. The bed was extremely comfortable. At breakfast you have the choice of either sitting in one dining room on small tables or alternatively in the larger dining room with one large table that you can share with other guests. We opted for the latter as it was always fun to exchange stories and travel tips with others. Elaine provided huge very tasty breakfasts which were enough to last you through to dinner that evening; she was an excellent hostess who had a real knack of making you feel at home in her property. This is an Inn that we will definitely be visiting again (for longer next time) and one that we can unreservedly recommend to others. It really is somewhere very special. Thanks to Elaine for making us feel so welcome. Gerry & Glenda
I love this Inn. It is quiet and relaxing. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. As soon as you come in the door you feel like you have come home. We like to have dinner at Max's and sit by the fire and have an after dinner cocktail. You feel like you are at a friends home. The food at Max's is delicious whether you want a delicious meal or you just want a burger, it is consistently good. We have stayed in the Chimney House and the Main Inn. I prefer the large room in the front of the Inn overlooking the mountains but the Chimney rooms with fireplaces is also nice. Go! Susan W.
Stayed one night, really made us feel at hime. Great recommendations for local restaurants and attractions, a nice bonfire to watch the lunar eclipse, and a good night's sleep in a historic (and some say haunted) old inn. Exceptional gourmet breakfast the next day, and more great ideas for routes to our next destination. Recommended!
We';ve stayed at the inn before when it was owned by a different family. Enjoyed it back then and enjoyed it even more now as it's back to a previous owner who really knew how to do this well.........and we'll be back again to visit!
