Prospect Hill Inn
-
Prospect Hill sits above Main St. a short walk from blocks of shops, restaurants, microbreweries, galleries, live music, and much more. As the highest point in Waynesville our home gets a constant breeze making summer on the porch a real treat.
Savannah is our grandest room and a favorite with Brides and Anniversary couples. It has a large bow window facing Southwest towards the Mountains forming the Eastern rim of the Smoky Mountains National Park. The lace-canopied King sized pencil post bed is a reproduction in mahogany of an 18th century federal style bed. In addition to having a top-of-the-line pillow top mattress, it also has a feather bed, and in the colder months, is covered with a luxurious goose-down duvet. The lace canopy drapes can be left tied back as shown or allowed to hang free around the bed to create the ultimate romantic atmosphere. All of the other furnishings in the room are genuine antiques, mostly from the late Victorian period. The artwork includes original paintings. The room is air conditioned, and has cable television with VCR, a refrigerator and a telephone. The large bathroom is surrounded with windows looking onto Eagles Nest Mountain and is fitted with a two-person Jacuzzi whirlpool bath
Exeter Room is named for a famous old cathedral town in the County of Devon in England, a town which has special memories for the Innkeepers. Exeter is our "Morning" room, facing East, it is the first one to get the morning sunshine. It is decorated in Spring colors with greens and gold, and has a view of the mountains and forest of the Lickstone Ridge. The room has one richly carved mahogany Queen sized bed, which is fitted with a thick pillow-top mattress, topped with a soft luxurious feather bed. During the colder months, as the photograph above shows, the bed is covered with a soft goose-down comforter. The Exeter room is air conditioned, it has cable television and a private bathroom with shower.
The dining room at Prospect Hill is a splendid formal dining room richly wainscotted in cherry and maple, with a plate rail to hold the Innkeepers' collection of 19th century flow-blue plates. The large mahogany banquet table is elegantly set with fine china and sterling silver tableware. Crêpes, soufflés, Belgian Waffles, Eggs Benedict, or other fine breakfast entrées complemented by home-made coffee cakes or muffins, yogurt and fresh fruit are served for our guests here every morning.
Paris is the room which is the repository for some of the items collected during trips to one of our favorite cities including artwork purchased in the Louvre. The room has one Queen sized four poster bed, a reproduction of the Charleston Rice Bed. The pillow-top mattress has a feather bed to top it off, and in the colder months, its covered with a goose-down comforter. It's like sleeping on a cloud ! The room is air conditioned and has a separate small sitting area with easy chairs, a telephone, refrigerator and cable TV. On the evening side of the house, it's a wonderful room in which to relax and enjoy the sunset over the Balsam Ridge and Eagle's Nest Mountain. There is a private bathroom with a double-sized shower
The Waynesville Room overlooks the town of Waynesville with its flood-lit church spires and the mountains beyond. This room has a King sized four poster bed. The bed is fitted with top of the line pillow-top mattress and a feather bed. During the colder months, there is a goose-down comforter to insure your absolute comfort. The room contains more art than any other room in the house including 2 original Audubons. The room is air conditioned and has a private bathroom with a conventional tub/shower combination. The room has an adjoining small sitting room which has cable television with a DVD player and a refrigerator.
The Tybee Room is located on the Southwest corner of the house, it receives both morning and afternoon sunshine, and enjoys a view of the wooded slopes of Wolfpen Mountain to the East and the Balsam Ridge to the South. It is boldly decorated in shades of Royal Blue and Gold. The room has a Queen sized bed. The mattress is topped with a luxurious feather bed and as shown, is covered during the winter months with a goose-down comforter. The room is decorated with several fine pieces of art, including a painting by Savannah artist Rex Duggar and etchings by Florida artist David Hunter, . It has cable television with a DVD player, a refrigerator, air conditioning and a private bathroom with tub & shower
Our front porch wraps around the side of the house on one side and steps down onto a brick patio with cafe furniture on the other side. Our cozy library is off the patio through French doors.
Across the street from Prospect Hill is the weekly farmers market where our guests can pick up some local foods. At the bottom of our driveway is Bogarts, a Waynesville tradition of comfort food and friendly service.
One half of our large living area has a large screen TV for watching a pick from our large movie selection or catching a sports game.
We get beautiful snow days here with long range views while being on Main St. our town is excellent at keeping the roads clear and the power on! Our large wood stove in the living room is the perfect place to enjoy a winter day with cocoa and a game of monopoly.

A short 300 yard walk from the town center, Prospect Hill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A restored 19th Century country home which once belonged to a Confederate Officer. The Inn is located on a grassy acre at the highest point in the town, and a 30 minute drive from the city of Asheville. 5 air conditioned bedrooms with king or queen beds, each with private bathroom, cable television, mountain views and WIFI internet. We prepare a gourmet breakfast, served in our cherry paneled dining room, and there's a rocking chair front porch and cafe seating on our brick patio. Rooms with views, hospitable hosts, delicious breakfast that was also visually appealing - what's not to like? This B&B is within walking distance of shops and restaurants, too. I'll be going back.

The innkeepers are the most charming, efficient, creative and intelligent folks you could have as host and hostess for your visit to Prospect Hill Inn. Don't miss the chance to stay there and enjoy the delicacies prepared for breakfast and ideas for your visit in Waynesville.
5 out of 5What a pleasure
July 14, 2009
My wife and I stopped here nine months ago, on our honeymoon. All was delightful, so much so that we returned again six months later for two nights, and for two more nights a week later, as we passed through the area headed home. A big plus is that Waynesville's charming Main Street shops are within an easy walk, so we never used our car during any of the visits. The couple who own the place are very nice - friendly, helpful and pleasant, but in no way intrusive. They have a perfect light touch. Breakfasts are always delicious, and the cleanliness is perfect. Never a blemish, ever. We cannot think of a criticism. This place has not seen the last of us. Nothing beats two or three relaxing days strolling Waynesville, with your lovely bedroom at the top of the street.
5 out of 5Delightful Weekend
October 20, 2008
My husband and I had a delightful stay at Prospect Hill in October of 2008. The Paris Room was clean, beautifully decorated and included a small, comfortable sitting area. We enjoyed having coffee on the front porch with the other guests before breakfast. Breakfast, served by Dennis and Judith in the dining room. was scrumptuous both mornings and lively conversation added to the enjoyment. Main Street, which was within easy walking distance from the B&B, was blocked off for the Annual Arts and Crafts Show which provided great entertainment and shopping. I'd wholeheartedly recommend Prospect Hill to my friends and family.

December 03, 2007
My wife and I stayed at Prospect Hill in September 2007 and enjoyed the warm, cozy feel of Prospect Hill and Waynesville, NC. The house is in a perfect location to stroll downtown for some shopping or to enjoy a nightcap at the local pub. Dennis and Judith made us feel welcome with good humored conversations over breakfast and provided us insight to our travel plans. The rooms were spotless and decorated true to the old fashioned appeal of Prospect Hill and Wayneville.
4.8 out of 5A Home Away from Home
December 03, 2007
My husband and I have stayed at Prospect Hill a few nights for several years and felt at home from the very first visit. Judith and Dennis are so congenial and hospitable. They make you feel right at home. The rooms are nice and clean and comfortable. The food is delicious and well prepared. The porch is out of this world with the beautiful views! We feel like we are visiting family when we go each time. We hope to be able to visit for many years to come!!
5 out of 5lovely home, wonderful hosts
December 02, 2007
we enjoyed our stay immensely. Our hosts Dennis and Judith were very gracious making us feely right at home. The breakfast was wonderful and conversation great. The location is superb allowing us to leave our vehicle parked all weekend with everything in town a short easy walk away. We really enjoyed the restaurant recommended to us by Dennis. We actually returned a second night for dinner. We will return again. Looking forward to it already. Bruce and Joanne from Charlotte...
