We had such a wonderful time staying at The Baird House of Valle Crucis this weekend. The inn is gorgeous, our room was perfect, and the area is just so pristine and peaceful. Breakfast was to die for each morning and Tom & Deede are such hospitable and gracious hosts. Definitely an experience we will soon be looking to repeat!

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at the Baird House. Tom, our host, was welcoming and informative. He shared the history of the home and how he and his wife made the decision to purchase the property and keep the original name of the owners as the name for their Bed and Breakfast. By the way, there is a river (for fishing if you like) right across the street. Upon arrival, Tom gave us a tour of the house and our room. Our room was the 2 bedroom suite at the top of the stairs. We had lovely accommodations, comfortable beds, a private bath, and a fireplace. We also had a sitting area. It was perfect; more than we expected. Everything about the Baird House was warm and inviting. Tom recommended Proper's for dinner. It is a local restaurant and the food was homemade - delicious! There was plenty to eat and drink at the house - so you won't go hungry. We highly recommend The Baird House for a lovely and quite get away to the mountains of Boone!

Deede, Tom and 4 children moved from Myrtle Beach to Valle Crucis in October 1997.Deede & Tom say that being innkeepers is" the hardest work that we have ever loved!" . Hosting a bed & breakfast inn must be in their blood/genetics since Deede's family owns a hotel at Ocean Isle Beach,NC & Tom's family was in the hotel business & his dad had B&B's in Charleston & Savannah. Genuine Southern hospitality is practised at the Baird House.

The Baird House is in such a peaceful setting and you just feel so relaxed while you are there. Tom and Deede make your stay so enjoyable. We enjoy our visits with them each morning. This is our favorate get away place in the High Country!!

My wife and I booked two nights at the Baird House as a quick mini-vacation. We were amazed how great our experience was. The best part were the hospitality of Deede and Tom. The homemade breakfast she cooked in the mornings could be the best thing I've ever tasted. I definitely recommend the Baird House for anyone looking to get away for a few days.

From Hwy 105 turn onto SR1112, also known as Broadstone Road, at the traffic light into Valle Crucis. Follow Broadstone Road past a horse farm, Mast Store Annex, Valle Crucis Elem. School & the Mast Gen. Store ( all these have been on your right ). Go past Mast Gen. Store 1/2 mile then turn left onto Watauga River Rd. BEFORE crossing over the river on a long concrete bridge. After turning onto Watauga River go 1.5 miles and you will see us on the left.
