The utmost in southern hospitality along with spectacular mountian views and serenity awaits you at our rustic and elegantly designed log home in historic Valle Crucis. Our log home was newly constructed and opened for the pleasure of our guests in July of 2004. Our guest rooms are uniquely decorated with mountain themes, spacious, with private baths, and offer many ammenities. Our beds are enhanced with pillow top mattresses, down pillows/blankets along with cool mountain nights to offer a restful night's sleep in preparation for the next day's activities. Our area hosts numerous outdoor sports activities, antiquing, shopping, scenic drives, OR the luxury of rocking on our wrap around scenic front porch while sipping lemonade OR maybe simply sitting by the gathering room stone fireplace enjoying a hot beverage while sharing stories and fun with others OR even enjoying a good book in the peace and solitude of our reading room. We believe your day should start with a good hearty homemade breakfast! And before retiring for the evening, we offer a variety of homemade desserts to tickle your taste buds. We have been delighted and blessed that many of our guests, even though strangers, have left as new friends. Hope to see you soon! Your hosts, Debbie & Don Jones

We were in Valle Crucis for a wedding over July 4th weekend and stayed at the Mountainside Lodge. The hosts are wonderful! When our flight was late, Debbie called us to be sure that everything was okay We were warmly greeted and our rooms were clean with fresh robes. The breakfasts were out-of-this-world wonderful. The hosts took requests for our favorite foods and everything we were served far exceeded our expectations. We compared notes with other wedding guests staying at nearby bed and breakfasts and we're convinced that no other bed and breakfast could compare to the gourmet breakfasts we enjoyed. On the nights we arrived home before 10pm, Debbie had pies, brownies and cookies for us. Chocolates were available anytime! We absolutely loved our stay there and the ONLY thing we would change is that the driveway to the lodge is crazy steep! Despite that, our 4-cylinder rental car made it fine every time... although I'm glad we were there during the summer months. Debbie and Don have information on local events an activities, are exceptionally kind and helpful, and I can't say enough good things about the food. If we are in the Valle Crucis area again, we wouldn't even consider another bed and breakfast. Mountainside is everything we could ever want!

Frequenting a number of B&B’s over the years we felt compelled to express our thanks and gratitude to Debbie and Don (and Scooter the dog) for our wonderful stay in Boone, North Carolina. From the time we arrived until the time we departed, our innkeepers were welcoming, thoughtful, and generous. We’ve never stayed at a B&B that was as clean and meticulously appointed as the Mountainside Lodge. I’m a clean freak and Mountainside was flat out spotless! We highly enjoyed our stay in the Dragonfly room and simple touches such as his and her’s soaps and fresh towels awaiting us each day. All of the rooms had a unique theme and other guests commented they were nothing short of perfect. Then there are the breakfasts provided by Debbie and Don that are not only filling and delicious but done with thoughtful presentation. During our stay, we never walked away hungry (which can’t be said of all B&B’s) and often skipped lunch because we were too full. ¿ We were so eager each morning to chat with our hosts and other guests over a delightful breakfast. Debbie and Don are such wonderful people and always willing to answer any questions we had or provide us with guidance on activities to do or restaurants to try. We’re so thankful to have met them and they made us feel as if were family. It’s not hard to see why they’ve been in business for over ten years and have so many return guests. If you’re in the area we highly recommend Mountainside Lodge B&B! Bonus: If your breakfast has finally worn off Debbie and Don have a sampling of desserts each evening for your sweet tooth! “Nutty Buddy” pie, coconut cake, and lemonade pie were just a few of the offerings they had while we were there. Thank you again Debbie and Don (and Scooter)! -David & Bethany

My husband and I loved every minute of our stay. It was cozy and very comfortable. We felt like we were visiting family during our stay. It was so inviting. The Jones make everyone feel like they are welcome and like you are old friends there for a visit. The breakfasts were unbelievable, the desserts and coffee at night was just the way to top off our day, the rooms are wonderful and very comfortable. Both rooms we have stayed in were more than what we even expected and all the rooms having their own bathroom is a plus. It was such a wonderful experience that we already booked for next year. We have recommended this B & B to all our friends.

Returning to Mountainside Lodge for our third stay was, has been the case each and every time, outstanding. The inn keepers, Don and Debbie, continue to go the extra mile to make our stay(s) exceptional. The warmth of their hospitality, moreso their friendship, makes us, as well as all of their guests feel as if they are in the center of their attention and special. The breakfast is certainly not what you would expect for a B&B. Several courses tailored to each individual that is so good it deserves slow intimate enjoyment. Forget about lunch because the food is so good and plentiful that you will not need to sit again at a table until dinner. I typically never give outstanding reviews however when it is- it is! Mountainside Lodge is a must stay for all that enjoy B&B's

Debbie and Scooter were both waiting for us at the door when we arrived. From the moment we walked entered their incredible home, we felt welcome and comfortable. The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean and the atmosphere is so homelike! It was something like getting together with family. Sitting on the front deck in the morning is absolutely Heavenly. But be prepared to gain weight with Don and Debbie cooking breakfast as everything is delicious! It doesn't end there either. Debbie brings out tons of yummy desserts in the evening. It's difficult to resist all those goodies and our waistline is proof! We hope to be able to return to Mountainside Lodge and spend more time with Debbie, Don and Scooter. It's truly a warm and unforgettable experience.

Wanted a place to get away from it all for a long weekend, and this was it! Had a great time here, the room was very comfortable and unique (each room has its own theme decor), the indoor sun porch and outdoor porch were great places to sit and relax, the breakfasts were wonderful, featuring lots of fruit, in-house baked items and great coffee too. Don and Debbie are warm and welcoming hosts, offering information about things to do in the area, restaurant recommendations and reservations, and extra services like wrapping up our left over pizza and keeping it in the fridge till we were ready to leave!

We stayed there the end of April,2013 four nights during MerlFest bluegrass festival about an hour away. We loved the fish room and all the small but welcomed touches. Don and Debbie owners were the best hosts and went out of their way to help us plan where to sightsee and eat as well. Debbie is a fabulous cook who prepared gourmet breakfasts artfully presented and even tweaks them to your diet needs. Would love to go back for another stay.

Our stay in this Lodge was so very wonderful. The views were beautiful and the hospitality of our hosts was beyond our expectations, such warm and friendly folks. Our accommodations were so warm and inviting and we felt like we were in our own home. Food was incredible and we were so eager each new day to see what would be presented for our enjoyment. We were given wonderful information about the area and things to see and enjoy. This was such an enjoyable get-away for us and we are eager to enjoy again soon.

Don and Debbie Jones
Over the years the Jones' have enjoyed being guests of many B & B's from Maine to Georgia which enabled them to select ideas from the best of the best to incorporate into their own place. They enjoy cooking and entertaining which they do so graciously in order to make each person's stay special. Since Don enjoys the outdoors, he offers guided trout fishing trips and has an upland bird hunting preserve. Debbie enjoys flower/veggie gardening, baking and trying new dishes to serve her guests.
