The Mast Farm Inn is more than a bed and breakfast, with inn rooms, private getaway cottages, fine dining and great wines, organic gardens, and unique gifts completing our historic country appeal. The key to the Inn’s success, however, lies in the exceptionally friendly and caring service offered to lodging and dinner guests alike. With inspired restoration and continuing care, the Inn continues to welcome guests, as it did over 100 years ago. Lodging guests now choose from 8 guest rooms in our 1880s farmhouse and 7 cottages, some restored from original farm buildings, others newly built. Cottages range in size from cozy ones suitable for a couple to large ones for up to six guests. All are unique spaces. The Inn’s restaurant is celebrated, serving fresh, organic, creative contemporary cuisine. Enjoy fireside or terrace dining, depending on the season. The service is attentive, yet relaxed and friendly. Small plates are available in Aunt Josie's Espresso and Wine Bar; stay in the bar or relocate to the inn's wraparound porch. Located in peaceful, historic Valle Crucis, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the Inn is convenient to Boone and Blowing Rock, close to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and the magnificent Grandfather Mountain. The current innkeepers have placed special emphasis on the environment, creating a “green” inn where recycling, reducing waste, and buying organic produce locally are taken seriously.
Many guests' favorite room, Cousin Sarah is on the 3rd floor of the Inn. The four-poster cherry king bed is a center piece of the room. A claw-foot soaking tub for two is tucked into an alcove of the room behind a moveable antique screen. Another alcove is furnished with a chaise lounge by the window for a quiet read. The newly renovated bath has a large tiled shower. The third floor has central air-conditioning for those few hot days in the summer.
Now furnished with a solid cherry four-poster king bed, Nell's Room, our largest, is even more inviting. One of our brightest rooms, Nell's is on the 2nd floor of the farmhouse. It boasts a spacious sitting area with a sofa and upholstered chair in olive crushed velvet, and an antique trunk for your feet. Two windows overlooking the side yard combine with the hint of peach on the walls to give Nell's Room a sunny feel. The private bath has a standard tub and shower. Room air-conditioner in summer.
A 2nd floor corner room on the front of the farmhouse, overlooking our side garden with gazebo and the vegetable garden and valley across the road, Elizabeth Gray Vining is a favorite of many guests, especially during the seasons for a fire. The walls in Vining are the original pine paneling of the farmhouse and project a warm glow. Vining retains the charm of the old farmhouse, with a brighter look from the white ceiling. Amenities include a ceiling fan, fireplace with gas logs, large upholstered reading chairs, table, queen bed, private bath with claw-foot tub/shower. Room air conditioner.
A popular 2nd floor room on the east corner of the farmhouse, the Joe Mast Room is our lightest and brightest. It can accommodate three travelers with its queen and twin beds. Both antique iron beds are painted white, as is the fireplace mantel. An anteroom between the bedroom and bath offers extra space for storage and dressing. Amenities include a ceiling fan, fireplace with gas logs, claw-foot tub/shower in the private bath. Room air conditioner in summer.
A favorite of many guests, Miss Allie's Room is a 2nd floor corner room overlooking our terrace and side rock garden. It is particularly quiet, being on the back side of the house without a guest room above or below it. A high antique walnut queen bed is showcased in the room and two comfortable overstuffed chairs in a floral pattern seem to bring the garden's flowers into the room. Its spacious bathing room contains an antique claw-foot tub and a tiled corner shower. The W.C. is separate with toilet and sink, the latter fashioned from an antique oak washstand. Room air conditioner in summer.
One of two 3rd floor dormer rooms, remodeled in 1997, the Cherry Room now boasts a king bed tucked under the eaves and two comfortable chairs in the sitting area by the J¿ul cast iron gas stove. In the bath, a claw-foot soaking tub for two, mood lights on a dimmer, a sparkling new pedistal sink, and a tiled corner shower add to your comfort. Centrally air-conditioned.

In the bath: a claw-foot soaking tub for two, mood lights on a dimmer, and a tiled corner shower. Centrally air-conditioned for your comfort.
The original two-story log house built in 1812 by David Mast. Josie Mast used it as a weaving room in the early 1900s, thus its name. For you, it has been transformed into a romantic cottage for two with modern conveniences. Downstairs in the living area is a massage tub for two across the room from the original wood-burning fireplace. A wet bar is nearby. A cozy bedroom with queen bed, and a small bath with a corner shower are upstairs. The private porch, with its own rockers, faces the farmhouse. Air-conditioned. A chair-and-a-half downstairs opens up for a bed for a 3rd person.
The Blacksmith Shop is a one-and-a-half-story log structure with a sleeping loft. The extra height gives it a spacious, but cozy feel. The downstairs is one large open area with a queen bed and sitting area. A Vermont Castings stove with gas logs is in a corner of the cottage. The bath with a shower is downstairs. A large antique platform tub is on the loft, as well as a twin bed for lounging or housing a third person overnight. The cottage is separated from the Woodwork Shop by the breezeway of the dog-trot building. The rock terrace your door provides a private outdoor sitting area. A/C.
Post and beam one-and-a-half-story structure with sleeping loft. Bedroom area with Queen-plus bed with an extra-long antique claw-foot tub for soaking screened in the back corner. Bath with shower. Separate sitting area with loveseat and rockers, wet bar with small regrigerator, table and chairs, and Vermont Castings stove with gas logs, also downstairs. Queen bed on loft. Separated from Blacksmith Shop by breezeway, the extended rock terrace underneath the long tin roof gives you a private outdoor sitting area, as well. Air-conditioned.
Nestled in the pine woods just beyond the gazebo in the yard of the farmhouse, this new (opened in April 2000) 600 sq. ft. cottage features an open floor plan comfortably furnished with a handmade solid cherry king bed, a Vermont Castings stove with gas logs in front of a rock wall in the sitting area, a leather sofa, table and chairs, a wet bar with refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The spacious bath features an oversized tiled shower with seat and double sinks. A front porch extending the length of the cottage overlooks the valley. Hot tub under the stars. Wheelchair-accessible.
This cottage, which is perfect for two, but accommodates up to four guests, features a queen bed in the bedroom. A wall bed in the living room folds down when needed for additional guests. A Vermont Castings stove with gas logs in front of a rock wall heats the living room, which includes a sitting area, wet bar with refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, table and chairs. The spacious bath features a steam shower, a garden tub for soaking, and double sinks. A front porch overlooks the valley. The nearby hot tub under the stars is for the exclusive use of guests in our new cottages.
Our largest restored cottage, the Granary, is a two-story house across the road beside the barn. A unique floorplan created two bedrooms and two baths, plus a loft, out of the original granary on the Mast farm. This cottage features a great room with wood stove, full kitchen, and deck with picnic table surrounded by pasture land. The master bedroom is upstairs with a king bed and bath with whirlpool tub and large tiled shower. The second bedroom is downstairs with a queen bed and bath with a walk-in shower. A queen futon is on the loft. Centrally air-conditioned w/auxiliary unit in master.
Like a treehouse tucked into the woods above the inn, our Raspberry Hill cottage is a fully furnished 2-bedroom, 2-bath log home. The master suite features a king bed, and a whirlpool tub in the bath. Curl up in the plush chair-and-a-half in its sitting area. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed. Two twin beds are on the expansive loft. The accessible second bath, with a shower, is downstairs. The great room, with cathedral ceiling, features a sitting area around the woodstove and a dining area. Fully furnished kitchen. Satellite TV, VCR, and DVD player. Washer/Dryer. CD players.
A cozy 2nd floor corner room with walls of beadboard, lush carpet under your feet, queen bed, and vintage linens on the windows. The large private bath, the only bath in the farmhouse early in this century, is across the hall with antique claw-foot tub/shower. Cotton robes are provided. Room air-conditioner in summer. Now for the straight talk: Our John Summer Room is our smallest and least expensive. It is also the noisiest, as it is directly over the kitchen. Though the bath is private, it is not en suite, but across the hall.
We have seven unique guest rooms in our authentic historical 1880s Farm House. These rooms have queen sized beds with private bath, many with large soaking tubs. There is free parking and we also have WIFI internet access. Some are in the thick of the Inn's life, some are near the country road, some are secluded in the woods.

We had a wonderful time at The Mast Farm Inn. The room was lovely, both cozy and comfortable. The food was fabulous and the location was perfect. We were able to visit Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock as well as spend time in Valle Crucis. I really do hope to return when the heat is too hot here in GA! I can only imagine how gorgeous The Mast Farm Inn is when the leaves change colors in the fall. This has been one of my most favorite Bed and Breakfast!

Spent a fall weekend here (we spent last time in the spring). The people are wonderful and the leaves added to it. Chef actually went out of his way to serve gluten-free meals (my wife also has lots of food allergies). Just an awesome place - Danielle is amazing!

This is our favorite place for a weekend escape. The staff becomes more like family with each visit. The breakfast alone is worth the trip. We are never ready to leave and we always wish we had booked one more night.
