My brother and I stayed at the Mast Farm inn and enjoyed every bit of it. Nice staff, nice rooms and in the middle of a very quiet area.

We loved the Mast Farm inn! Danielle, Lorraine and the others were so nice and helpful! They made it a priority for us to feel at home and took the time to talk to us as if we were family! I loved the special attention to detail, such as the personalized menu's that greeted us each morning with the awesome breakfast! We will definitely visit this inn again!

A delightful bucolic setting for a relaxing getaway. Everyone in our party vowed to make a return visit before this year is over.

My husband and I were married at The Mast Farm Inn last Monday; we then spent an additional three days there for our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived everyone felt like family; we felt right at home. The food was delightful. We especially enjoyed the daily breakfast. The vanilla wedding cake with cream cheese frosting was the best we ever tasted, and the drunken fruit poundcake was TRULY addictive! (In fact, we are thinking of ordering several for Christmas gifts this year!) The master bed in the Granary Cabin was the most comfortable we ever slept in. The in-room old timey radio programs were a wonderful touch; we had great fun listening to the radio in front of the fireplace with a bottle of wine. Rebecca, one of the staff, was wonderfully calm during a power outage Sunday night (the mountains suffered unseasonably heavy rains all week; an auto accident nearby caused a two-hour power outage all along Broadstone Rd). Rebecca, however, made everyone in the main house feel safe, calm, and entertained until the lights came back on. We loved the personalized menus at breakfast every morning, and the in-room notes every afternoon; it was such a unique touch. Most of all we loved the services of Danielle, who is one of the innkeepers, as well as being our wedding planner. We told her we wanted a simple, old-fashioned, stress free wedding, and that is indeed what she delivered. (Emphasis on the "stress-free": it was heavenly!) Danielle truly gave us the wedding of our dreams. Highly recommended; in fact, we are planning to go back next year for our 1-year anniversary!

My wife and I stayed in the Woodwork Shop and thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing weekend. Highly recommended and we'll be returning. World class chef as well!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here nearly 17 years ago and have returned several times for memorable visits. This most recent visit was a “just because” weekend. We treasure our mountain getaways and stay in a cozy room in the farmhouse. Be aware they use feather pillows so let them know if you are allergic as they are very responsive to requests. We thought the rate was a little high at first, but it ended up that the friendly staff, the personalized touches, the yummy Sunday breakfast of layered French toast, and the beautiful surroundings, was well worth the cost. We have visited other B&Bs but The Mast Farm Inn keeps calling us back.

My partner and I spent a weekend in the Loom House and it was amazing! The attention to detail and the personal touches that they made made the weekend unforgettable. Our breakfast menus were personalized with our names and personalized cards were waiting for us in our cabin. The staff was attentive, the Inn was beautiful and our stay was fantastic! This was our second visit, and we can't wait to return! Each room is spotless and unique. For fun we hope to try a new room each time we go! Feels like a home away from home, and the surroundings are beautiful. Yummy breakfast included. When in the area why stay anywhere else?

We stayed in the Granary. What a lovely experience! Then there was sitting in the parlor sipping a shot of Junior Johnson's moonshine (legal) while waiting to be seated at a magnificent Valentine's dinner. Breakfast had the fluffiest pancakes I have ever eaten. We shall return!

We recently completed a five night stay with our three kids, and stayed in the Granery. Plenty of space and the maid service was excellent (kids make such a mess). The kids really enjoyed the animals and the staff was more than happy to show the kids around the farm and help them feed the animals. The only downside I can mention is that it didn't snow, but I guess that the staff can't control that. Good job guys!!!!

My wife and I loved our visit. They went out of their way to make sure we got what we wanted. We had a death in the familly and they went out of their way to help make changes to our reservations. I would definitely recommend the mast farm inn to anyone thinking about staying there.

We stayed in the charming Loom House,an original cabin. It was a trifle dark inside because of course nobody puts big windows in 19th century log cabins. I'd up the wattage in the lights if possible. But very very pretty & comfortable. The food was excellent but the multiple course meals were actually too much food. We started asking for various items to be skipped, which worked better for us. Very nice helpful staff! I'd certainly book in again.

This was by far the best Bed and Breakfast my husband and I have ever been to. From the minute we walked in, we were treated with homey familiarity on every level from every staff person. The food was 5 star good - we are still talking about it! The room was perfect right down to the home made cookies waiting for us - along with fresh spring water in a classy carafe. We are already planning our next visit....

The ambiance of a heritage Inn from the 1800's cannot be explained ... it must be experienced. Everyone at the Mast Farm Inn was family and the dinner and breakfast at Simplicity was to die for. I cannot say enough about the wonderful time we had at the Mast. I sure didn't hurt to have great weather along with it ;-)

This was the third time we've stayed at The Mast Farm Inn and have enjoyed it each time. The staff, grounds, rooms, and especially the breakfasts have always been exceptional. We had dinner there twice this time and the food, service, and ambiance were outstanding. I would highly recommend The Mast Farm Inn to anyone wishing to have excellent accommodations, food, and atmosphere during the fall foliage season -- or anytime.

What a wondeful time we had at the Inn! We did not have a room in the Inn, but reserved the Loom House which was so charming in its rustic simplicity but super comfort. Wood burning fireplace, sweet muslin tab-top curtains at the windows, historic little cabin with its wealth of history were just what we wanted. The little house was awesome, but the staff was even better. Daily little notes of encouragement on our pillows were delightful, and each breakfast menu was individually printed with our names and an amusing description of each course. (Yes, a two-course breakfast every morning in a dining room that made us smile every time we walked in) Attention to every detail exceeded any expectation. The staff always went out of their way to see to our comfort, so friendly and great to talk with. Even the chef (who had amazing talent in creating memorable evening meals as well as the not-to-be missed breakfasts) came out to discuss fly-fishing spots with my husband! Love this comfortable, delightful inn.....we will be back!

Stayed in the blacksmith shop and was skeptical as to the lodge being too" Rustic" I came away with the feeling I could recommend that lodge and the overall stay as being a vacation great.

The Mast Farm Inn is well worth winding your way through the North Carolina backroads to get there. The Inn is charming and historic as are the surrounding cottages. You feel like you've stepped back in time where things move more slowly and you can luxuriate in the comforts and amenities from an earlier era. We stayed in the Blacksmith cottage where we found a large comfy bed, a gas-fired pot-bellied stove, and a loft with a love seat and a large red bathtub in addition to the modern shower facilities below. It was the perfect place to wind down after driving some 400 miles. The breakfast we had the next morning was exceptional. My husband and I would definitely go back.

We recently spent one lovely rainy night at the inn. We were upgraded to a wonderful cabin full of gracious amenities that made the night a cozy, comfortable one. All the staff were helpful and generous with their time and guided us to excellent restaurants and activities.

My husband and I took advantage of a discounted senior gift certificate to book a room here as we made our way up the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our room was on the 2nd floor of the main building and was very comfortable, king bed, sitting area, plenty of space. Charmingly decorated. No TV or phone. There were not very many occupied rooms and we were offered an upgrade to a cabin, which we decided not to take because it was raining heavily and the cabin was some distance from the parking area. The staff checked us in, but were not in the building after about 6pm, which was not a problem. Unfortunately, the dining room was closed (Monday) so we did not have a chance to eat here. We had a nice meal in Blowing Rock and later drove through Boone and back to the Inn. Be forewarned that some of the approach roads to this locale are steep and twisty. I'm sure they can be avoided, but our GPS was probably set on "shortest time". We enjoyed our stay and will stay there again when in the area, but probably only on nights when the restaurant is open. Breakfast was very pleasant. Our menus were personalized, as were welcome messages in our room. All in all an experience worth repeating.

We have enjoyed staying at B&Bs listed in Select Registry. This was our first time at The Mast Farm Inn. It was a beautiful time of the year to visit. We were surprised however with a farm in the name that the breakfast was not your typical country farm breakfast. The portions were small.

We loved the house, the wonderful garden and all the beauty as far as we could see. Breakfast was unique and delicious. We would recommend the Joe Mast Room, as it was plenty big for three people and very comfortable. We slept like babies and felt very nurtured by all the staff and the special gifts like the coffee basket at our door in the morning. We will stay at The Mast Farm Inn again, hopefully in a cabin with family from out of state. Thank you!

Our trip was one of the most memorable ones we have had in our 33 years of marriage. The inn was beautifully maintained and the staff was extremely pleasant and accomodating to any requests we had. The breakfasts were mouth-watering and well varied. The staff took time to personalize events for us and made each guest feel as if they were royalty. We are looking forward to returning many times.

Room was base for hiking trips we took daily. Very comfortable. Great soaking tub and wonderful walk- in shower. Front desk very helpful with local information such as direction to Blue Ridge Parkway and restaraunts. Perfect Wi-fi and very quiet room.

We recently got married at The Mast Farm Inn last week and we were blown away at how beautiful and perfect everything was... The food was outstanding, the southern hospitality, the place was clean and wonderful. We can not wait to go back soon!! We recently spent two nights at Mast Farm Inn. We were given an upgrade to the Loom House, a charming restored cabin that was the original farmhouse built in 1810. It was cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed great views from the rockers on the front porch where we had our morning coffee and late afternoon wine. The breakfasts were superb and our dinner was was of the best meals we've had at any restaurant. We loved our whole experience at Mast Farm Inn and would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed 2 nights at the Mast Farm Inn and had a wonderful time, we were in the woodwork shop and it was absolutely adorable. this was our 4th time to stay at the Mast Farm since the mid 80s and it gets better every time. The breakfast at the Inn are outstanding and filling enough to last most of the day. Hope to get back soon!

The Mast Farm Inn is a wonderful place to vacation. We spent time there on a trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway and found the cabin and the restaurant to be first rate. The food was really exceptional, especially the french toast! Loved this place and we will return.

The Mast Farm Inn is first class in all areas. What we liked best was the personal and kind touch of class which permeated throughout our stay. I honestly thought I was part of the innkeeper's family! I know they meant that to be, but that is hard to do! This is our eight stay here at the Mast Farm Inn which to me remains one of the best B&B accommodations we have ever experienced. And after serving in the Army for over 28 years, I have traveled all over the place. This B&B exceeds all standards and I would unhesitatingly refer this superb B&B to those travelers out there who want a comfortable stay with these superb innkeepers who truly mean to make their guests feel right at home but at the same time allow the proper space needed by many. They have done it right. This B&B has captured the essence of what a superb B&B should be. The innkeeper's sincerity, friendship, consideration and refreshing kindness is very well appreciated, especially as they went made our special anniversary stay a truly well remembered one. In sum, while there is much to do in the Boone, NC such as hiking, biking, rafting, eating, and relaxing the message here is that there is a very special B&B waiting the weary or perhaps curious traveler with the very best accommodations that innkeepers in other locations would dream for.

Typically I prefer some interaction with Innkeeper/owner. Never saw them that I know of though they provided their cell phone number if needed.

Truly an amazing and special place....will return again! The house is perfectly appointed, beds were so comfy. The staff thought of everything - no detail was overlooked. The service outstanding.... Meals - amazing. BRAVO!! Dinner was one of the best meals we had on vacation.... breakfast yummy. Thanks to Ms Velva --- thanks for all you did to make our stay so great. Plan on staying more than one night. This is truly a special place. Thanks!

The Mast Farm Inn was one of our stops on our honeymoon and was our favorite. Amazing mountain views and wonderful accomodations, made of us love every second. Would have loved to stay longer and will definately return in the future.

My husband and I spent 4 wonderful days at the Mast Farm Inn. Their very personal touches and attention to detail make our getaway so enjoyable. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly with lots of suggestions. We especially liked the early morning coffee delivered to our room each a.m. and the personal notes and cards we received each day. This place is a real treat as well as a retreat from our too busy world.

We stayed in the woodworker cabin. It was very private. The breakfast both mornings was delicious. The candied bacon is out of this world. The staff were friendly and helpful. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner. It was fabulous. We look forward to coming back soon.

Fourth visit to the Mast Farm Inn, this time bringing along family and staying at The Granary. What a perfect spot. Quiet and with lovely views across the meadow and visits with Donkey and Horse. Very comfortable rooms, fantastic service and breakfasts to die for! We'll be back again soon.

We were recent guets of the MFI for a weekend wedding. The wedding was held some 25 x miles away but we were determined to stay at the MFI. We stayed in the Loom House which is the original building on the property and LOVED it. We did not lack for one thing except more time there! The staff at the MFI could not have been more professional and helpful to our enqueries, and I will dare you to find a better breakfast anywhere around than the MFI. I only wish we could have sampled lunch and dinner as well. I could not recommend a better place to see the surrounding sites than the MFI. SOLD!

Our first time visit. The historic nature of the place was very unique and special. The staff were outstanding ... we will definitely be back!

I was so excited that the third floor room was cool at night and air conditioned well. The bathroom was beautiful and we hardly heard any other guests, even though they were right around us. The chimney had a bird fluttering around in it on our arrival day-Aunt Leona's room. I was concerned it would rattle all night. We were thankful it did not. On the grounds-we walked back toward the pond and smelled a dead animal smell so strong, we couldn't stay out there-and we are pretty tough outdoors people. When we walked down to the new memorial, we were amazed to see a huge deer dead on the right side of the gravel road. We reported the large dead deer-but not the other smell by the pond. The gazebo up behind the building looked to be under construction and had broken items around it. Maybe we just stumbled upon a construction area. The staff of the Inn and the restaurant folks were so friendly and genuinely interested in us....it was wonderful. The food was outstanding and the wine choice was right on for our filet mignon. We had a wonderful stay and hope the Inn thrives for many years to come!

Pure pleasure! We stayed in "Earl's" cabin, and were mightily impressed by the attention to detail - perfect in every respect. A great breakfast, attentive staff - I just don't see how a B&B experience could be any better.

We had a lovely visit to the Mast Farm Inn last weekend. The Inn is beautiful and the setting is serene. The staff was helpful and courteous. We stayed in the Cousin Sarah room and my only complaint is that the outdoor rug they had under the bed was hard to walk on. We have tender feet and the rug is made for outdoors and was painful to walk on.

I have stayed at several North Carolina cabins, including both Frog Hollow and Pilot Knob, so know what to expect from the cabin environment (in other words, that it isn't a five star hotel sort of accommodation). I was excited to go to Mast Farm Inn because of its restaurant, and thought staying on its property would complete the experience. I deliberately chose the "Woodworker" cabin because my husband loves wood working. The restaurant was indeed wonderful (although don't do the wine and roses package - the roses were at best a $10 half-cut bundle from Harris Teeter), but the cabin was far under my expectations, even for "rustic." The grounds are forced - the cabins are barely separated from each other, looking more like a shanty town than a countryside. There was really nothing "woodworker" about our cabin other than a sign and a few tools. The bathroom door had at least a 1/4 inch gap between its boards, making privacy virtually non-existent. The feel of the cabin was cramped and dirty, again, even for "rustic." The cabin was reasonably stocked with dishes, glasses, etc. - nothing spectacular. The bed linens were torn. My total bill, for two nights' stay and for the "wine and roses" dinner package (our actual dinner was paid separately) was over a whopping $1000. Absolutely not worth it, especially since the cabins I mention above run a good $150-250 less per night. I would have been ok had the two nights equaled closer to $400-500 - but I left feeling cheated and angry because of the sub-par experience.

The Inn and the staff were fantastic! And the food was just wonderful ... the best oatmeal ever! We stayed in Nell's room and loved the decor and the sitting area. We look forward to returning.

My husband and I spent the weekend in the Blacksmith Shop to celebrate his 40th birthday. Everything was perfect... From the chocolate covered strawberries in our room upon arrival to the picnic lunch to our wine and roses dinner. Very friendly, attentive staff and the food was absolutely amazing. I hope we can return again soon!

Since this was a new inn for us to visit, we were full of trepidation.From the the inviting wrap around porch to comfortable rooms , from the friendly and helpful staff to the scrumptious breakfasts and dinners, our only complaint, if one could call it that, was that the breakfasts were too large for average stomachs.We shall be back.

We have been coming to Mast Inn since 2007 And always stay at the Loom House Which is wonderful. Wasn't. Sure about bfast though. The server dropped off a tiny slice of terrible quiche And disappeared never to be seen again She never said that this was the meal So we took a bite and left Pretty disappointing after spending 379 on room not sure if we will back

We have stayed at several B&B's in this general area of the country and this is one I'd return to. The place itself is beautiful and well kept. The staff is friendly and low-key. They upgraded our room at no additional charge because they had the room during our stay. The breakfast was wonderful and more than I could eat. We'll be back. Plan to spend most of your recreation and eating time in Boone. I'll schedule a fly fishing trip next time I go.

Mast Farm inn is a charming, well-managed and well maintained historic inn near Boone, NC. The staff is highly adept at making customers feel comfortable and well taken care of for meals, suggestions for interesting outings to nearby attractions, and historic information. the inn is a fine addition to the exquisite beauty of the Valle Crucis.

This was to be a two night stay, but we couldn't bear to leave, so stayed a third. The location in this beautiful little valley, and the hospitality of the innkeepers was perfection.

Stayed here for the second time on a trip to visit my son at nearby Lee's McRae College. Previously I had stayed in the main house -- lovely -- however the room I'd had before was already taken so I was given the outside Blacksmith's Cabin (think that's the name) and it was just so quaint and beyond expectations with full bath, sitting area, coffee pot, fabulous linens---a precious log cabin - I felt like I was away from this busy world but steps away from the main house where the luscious breakfast is served. The "welcoming committee" was so warm and full of historical knowledge about the Inn. I felt as if I had been on vacation for a week instead of one night. Very upscale yet quaint.

What a wonderful place!!! I can't say enough about the personalized service, the delicious food, the fantastic people we came in contact with. Thanks Mast Inn!!!

We had the best stay at the farm. We have two young boys and the cabin on the hill, Uncle Earl, was perfect for us. Breakfast was amazing and filling! Service was outstanding and attention to detail was beyond! Can't think of one thing that didn't exceed our expectations. We would stay there again and again!!!!!!! Love from Tennessee

Amazing second time at the Mast Farm Inn! We stayed in one of the cottages and loved the feeling of being secluded while having the convenience of the restaurant seconds away. The food is soooo good by the way- don't miss dinner there! The staff at the Inn were all so nice and helpful and we felt so relaxed for our weekend away!

The Mast Farm Inn always excceeds mine and my wife's expectations. This is hands down the best place to spend your money if you want the best dining, and best bed and breakfast experience.

Exceeded expectations. Entire staff bends over backwards to make sure you have a wonderful experience. The breakfasts were overboard delicious and an experience themselves.

The Mast Farm Inn is well worth the money spent on it. My wife and I were greeted upon arrival, showed to our rooms, and welcomed when we came back downstairs with a glass of sparkling wine. Meals require that you trust the chef, as both breakfast and dinner were single option, prix fixe menus (although the cost of the breakfast is included with lodging). This wasn't a problem for me. To me, the sign of a really great restaurant is when I end up enjoying things that at most restaurants I wouldn't touch (mushrooms come to mind here!). Truly outstanding experience. Looking forward to returning soon.

The service was outstanding. Everyone was so pleasant and willing to do whatever it took to make our stay pleasant.

We stayed in the Blacksmith Shop for my husband's 60th birthday. The cabin was beautiful and comfortable. The staff added many extra personal touches that really made our stay special. The meal at Simplicity was wonderful; probably one of the best I've ever had.

Everything was perfect. They even cleaned the snow from my windshield before we left. This was our fifth stay and will not be our last. Great getaway.

Our stay at the Mast Farm Inn was fantastic. We highly recommend this B&B. You will not be disappointed. Our room was large, private, and very comfortable. The inn was quiet and peaceful. There are loads of activities in the area both indoors and outdoors. You can't go wrong choosing this inn.

The interactions with the staff are fun setting up the reservation and in person they are warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is charming and the setting lovely. Lots of interesting things around the area too. We were able to dine in the evening and were still almost too full to need breakfast! The meals were outstanding in presentation and taste, with special needs accomodated. There was so much food that neither of us could comfortably finish it, but it felt like a crime to waste it when we couldn't eat anymore! We were thrilled with our room in the lovely Loom House, the kind service, attention to detail, and delicious breakfasts.

We stayed one night, and everything was simply perfect and far beyond what we had expected. The inn was beautiful and cozy, the staff was beyond welcoming, the food was delicious, and our room and bed were comfortable. There were little touches everywhere, from personalized welcome cards to a coffee basket at our door in the morning. I could not recommend this inn more highly.

Stayed in the Joe Mast room which was extremely comfy and with attention to the smallest detail to make my stay enjoyable. The inn also hosted a bluegrass concert one night which was a lot of fun.

I stayed at the Mast Farm Inn with a friend the night before my wedding being held there. The cabin was perfect, and very cozy! Love the attention to detail throughout the entire stay. Breakfast was incredible, and the wedding dinner was the best meal I could have hoped for. The staff was very helpful and friendly! We were very impressed with the charm of this B&B, the friendliness of the staff and the attention to details. The food was delicious. The Valle Crucis area where it is located is beautiful.

We stayed at Mast Farm Inn for three nights for our honeymoon. For us it was the perfect place to relax. The service was fabulous, the cabin was an amazing experience, and the food was beyond compare. The surrounding area in Watauga Countu is beautiful and only added to the sense of peace and relaxation we enjoyed at the Farm. We will be most definately return again and again. Marti E.

We loved every aspect of our stay at Mast Farm Inn! The food was incredible, the rooms were cozy and comfortable and the view was restful! The staff made every effort to meet our needs and were a treasure trove of information about the area and attractions.

We had a wonderful time at the B&B. Neither of us have ever stayed in a B&B while traveling so we didn't really know what to expect but we were both blown away by our experience this past weekend. From the very moment we stepped foot on the property it felt like a dream. My favorite part of the whole experience was waking up to a basket of coffee sitting outside our door. I also loved being able to sit in a cozy robe and sip coffee by the gas fireplace. (We stayed in the Cherry Room) The super soft bed and linens made crawling in to bed very welcoming each night. My only complaint was that the pillows were so soft I had to use some of the decorative pillows to help with head support. I learned my lesson to always bring my own pillow. Otherwise, we had a wonderful weekend and I would tell all of my friends to stay here if they are in the area!

My wife and I enjoyed a one night stay. Our room was fabulous and the bed was extremely comfortable. Valle Cruis is a very low-key area to stay in. We would recommend others to stay here if they are looking for some piece and quiet with fresh cool mountain air.

This was our first visit to Valle Crucis, N.C. Not only was the area beautiful and convenient to several tourist spots, but our stay at The Mast Farm Inn was truly superb and delightful ! Overall, the ambiance and amenities of the property far surpassed our expections. We stayed in one of their newly built cabins (Mama's Refuge) and it was quite relaxing, comfortable, and was like being 'at home'. It did not have a TV, however, being without it was a nice change. The cabin boasts beautiful interiors and it also has a nice, cozy fireplace which we did use as the evenings were chilly. The breakfasts were delicious and certainly lived up to their 'gourmet' status. The staff was very hospitable and they definitely take great pride in their B&B by making sure their guests are comfortable and every finishing touch is in place. We will definitely be returning to this fine establishment for more R & R.

My wife and I have stayed at the Mast Farm in 4 or 5 times. We stayed in one of the new cabins which are beautiful. Probably meant for a family or group of friends since they sleep 2 downstairs and 4 upstairs in the loft but we wanted to check them out. As always, the breakfast was amazing and this time of year is so peaceful and beautiful at Mast Farm.

We stayed two nights in the Woodworkers Shop in October and loved it. The Staff that we had contact with was extremely courteous and helpful. We were on a road trip for our 40th Anniversary and special attention was given to us because of our Anniversary.

Stayed 2 nites in Oct in the Gazebo Cottage. The cottage was roomy and well decorated, with an incredibly comfortable bed. Breakfast was outstanding and very filling--we didn't eat again til dinner those nites. Only minor concerns--very little water pressure in shower, no bulb in bathroom nightlight, only 1 robe (not a problem because we didn't use the hottub after all). A little pricey, but overall a great stay.

We stayed in the Elizabeth Gray Vining room -- great location. Would have been nicer if the bed was the advertised queen-sized. Food is fabulous! Staff are friendly, knowledgable, helpful. Grounds are immaculate. Going back next fall season

we stayed at the Mast Farm Inn in Oct 2011. It was our first visit here. Very nice overall experience, a bit pricey IMHO. Our cabin was on the road and there was a lot of road traffic (during the week) so it was not as quiet as I had expected it to be. We did not dine at the inn but the breakfast was superb.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mast Farm. The food was delicious and the sevice was great. We'll go back.

We were so fortunate to be able to stay in the Gazebo cottage and dine with you for dinner. The dinner was scrumptuous. It is a lovely setting for relazing. We enjoyed the hot tub. Nancy & Larry

We stayed the weekend of October 7. 2011. When we arrived, we were greeted very warmly by the desk attendant who was very detailed in courteous and seemed like she enjoyed her job! When we arrived in our room, which was Aunt Leona's..which is on the top floor dormer we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious it really was. Music was playing, fresh flowers were in a vase, homemade cookies in a dish and a note of welcome! We were told that we could sit outside to enjoy some acoustic guitar music and have champagne before dinner. We made reservations for dinner prior to coming. We are so glad we did! We enjoyed it immensely, although it was tough to stay on our diet! The roasted pepper and tomatoe bisque was to die for, the salad was fresh, and the entree was delectable..consisting of beef tenderloin, augratin vegetables and creamy herbed grits..the homemade bread and cornbread with fresh herbed butter wasn't too bad either! After dinner, we just walked around and enjoyed the grounds and the little village of Valle Crucis. The weather was incredible so that helped so much enjoy the atmosphere. At bedtime, the queen size bed was very comfortable and to say that the sheets were wonderful was an understatement..I love good sheets and these were the best..they even smelled fresh! The clawfoot tub was fun too! We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast which consisted of homemade yogurt parfait with fresh blackberries, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries topped with homemade granola..squash quiche and creamy grits..sooo good! The coffee was good too..Can you tell I love this place? This was our second trip to Mast Farm Inn and I promise you will love it if you choose to go there for a little getaway..you won't be dissappointed. We will be back!

We loved our stay! The weather was beautiful, the room and accomodations were fantastic and the food was amazing! We would definitely love to return for another visit!

My husband and I were somewhat frustrated with the huge number of people at the general store and were disappointed in the cold snowy weather the first weekend in Oct. Mast Farm Inn was a wonderful and quiet refuge. The staff was more than helpful, the room very comfortable but overpriced. Noisy staircase next to our room and noise from dining room was irritating. Setting is only few feet from busy road. Good veggie sausage and coffee delivered to our door was nice treat.

We stayed in one of the cottages and it was fantastic. Do not miss the chance to eat at the inn...you'll thank me! Phenomenal breakfasts, too!

We all loved the old farmhouse/cabin atmosphere. The decorating was very appropriate, the beds were extremely comfortable. It was nice to have a full kitchen, although we ate out the entire time, except for the meals provided there. The breakfasts were delicious and different both days. We also ate dinner at the Inn one night and it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely stay with you, again.

My husband and I just needed an evenining away from kids, dogs and everyday "fun". The fine folks at Mast Farm Inn gave us exactly what we needed. The room was perfect and the food was unforgetable. Thanks for an evening we will never forget.

We stayed late in the week so we could have dinner at the Inn. It was an excellent meal and the room in the inn was more than could have been asked for. The staff was very attentive in all ways, and we had a relaxing evening on the porch sipping wine and forgetting the real world for awhile. Thanks to all who made it possible.

My husband and I spent last weekend in The Blacksmith Shop at the Inn. It was so relaxing and the property is beautiful and well maintained. Breakfast each morning was very delicious and my husband really enjoyed the candied bacon on Sunday morning. Great place, friendly staff and can't wait to visit again.

My husband and I enjoy staying at B&B's when we travel and select them based on the "food" reviews. The Mast Farm Inn is 5 star with dining. Our evening was baked trout and we knew in advance what our entree' would be. Our dormer room was spacious, clean and had the most comfortable mattress, ever. Service was outstanding and our server,Velva, gave new meaning to excellence.

We visited as a family getaway with our 2 kids (ages 4 and 7). We chose the Granary--perfect choice--it makes for a great family stay! Very spacious, yet cozy. The master bedroom has a lovely, big tub (and a great shower and big robes....), the bed is comfortable with great linens and there is an awesome view onto the pasture. Though there was another bedroom with full bath, both of my children LOVED the cozy loft and slept there. (I thought I'd be nervous with my wild 4 yr old near the rail but it didn't seem that scary). DVD players in both bedrooms let us watch movies each night, plus there was a closet with games and puzzles. The best thing about the Granary is how secluded it feels--across from the main house, tucked behind the barn, all you see are the pastures and mountains. There is a deck with rocking chairs off the living room, and the pasture is right there with resident donkey and horse, which thrilled the kids--my 7 yr. old was the first awake and dressed both mornings--out talking to the donkey in the rising fog before anyone else rolled out of bed. Husband was happy to just sit and watch the mountains all evening. Full kitchen was well stocked with anything you'd need to cook. Planned to go out the second night but the setup was so cozy we got steaks and stayed in (I even pilfered a sprig of basil from the kitchen gardens for salads!) and ate at the picnic table next to the fields. Breakfasts were awesome--kids were given fancy waffles that were served very quickly--this special attention was a nice touch. We had an amazing yogurt, fruit, granola parfait thing that was delicious! Also sampled eggs, sausage, grits, french toast with wonderful fruit compote topping and a delicious ricotta strudel. Fresh herbs and heirloom tomatoes decorated the plates. Overall it was a great weekend and we definitely plan on returning. Very relaxing, lovely visit!!

We stayed at the Mast Farm Inn this past weekend for a quick one night getaway for our anniversary. The Inn was so charming and the minute you walked in, you felt the stress melt away. From the personalized welcome note to the absolutely delicious breakfast (the homemade yogurt was sooo good), this is a perfect place to go when you want to escape from the real world!

Fabulous! My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary and birthdays all together. My husband travels often and we don't usually have that much time together so I thought it would be nice to try a bed and breakfast. I booked the Loom Cottage and found it to be the most wonderful get away weekends we have had together in a long time. From the moment we arrived to the time we departed we could not stop speaking how wonderful the whole experience was. The staff, the food and the accomondations were perfect. This was the total package. We will be back...Thank you for your hospitality.

We spent on night at the Mast Farm Inn. The service and attention to detail was amazing, from the personalized welcome note to the chocolate chip cookies in our room. We enjoyed complimentary champagne and live music on the porch. The breakfast was delicious - far more food than we actually needed. Breakfast was proceeded by an early morning hot coffee delivery to our room. Although not included in the cost of the room, the price fixe dinner they serve was outstanding. If you are spending the night, and even if you're not, make dinner reservations at the Inn. I'm sure we'll be back to stay again.

My husband and I were looking for a quiet get away where we could recharge our batteries and celebrate the beginning of our new lives as "empty nesters" What a delight! We stayed in the Maple Springs cottage and could not have had a more wonderful weekend. The staff is pleasant and fun to talk with. The food was outstanding! They catered to my needs as a vegetarian and made sure everything was just perfect for us. We would go back in a heartbeat! I highly recommend it.

My husband and I just celebrated our 10th Anniversary and stayed one night at the Mast Farm Inn. From the moment I made my reservation the customer service I received was spectacular! We had dinner reservations the night of our arrival and let me say, it was the highlight of our stay. They make dinner an unforgettable event! The food was fresh, beautiful and delicious. The chef accommodated all of my special diet requests. We were extremely pleased with our stay and look forward to our next visit.

My eldest daughter and I have very little time for just the two of us. Having been to the inn in the past we decided to have a get away there for just the two of us. We spent two nights in the woodworking shop and they were both delightful. The breakfasts were as we remembered from 5 years ago, the oatmeal and the yougart/granola as good as we remembered!!! We regret that we were there during the week when dinner was not served. The inn, the food and the staff make this a fabulous place to visit!!! I hope to visit again in the near future.

I was looking for something memorable to do on our 37th anniversary and certainly found it at the Mast Farm Inn. From the moment I made reservations until check out, Everything was handled professionally. You felt the kindness from the initial contact. I loved the look, the feel and warmth of this B & B. I can't say enough about it. We were in the Cherry room and it was all that was promised and more. Very clean and old world charm but with all modern convenience. but NO T.V.! How great is that!! Anna (person that checks you in, and coordinates just about everything!) is a love, made us feel right at home and was always ready with a quick smile and directions! :) Sadly we did not get to eat dinner at the restaurant,(we were there when they were not open, so plan accordingly) but the breakfasts were absolutely delish and plenty of food. It's a great place for some R & R. We had a wonderful picnic lunch (it was extra, but soooo well worth it!) The flowers, champagne, all was perfect for our 37th anniversary! I highly recommend the Mast Farm Inn and will plan to go back.....Hey, I've got a birthday coming up!

Could not have had a nicer time at our neice's wedding this weekend! The staff was so accomidating and kind. They could not have done more to make us all so comfortable! The food was incredible and the views of the mountains so pretty! We highly recommend it!

I enjoyed my stay so much. The food was unbelievable! The presentation was wonderful. The quaintness of the room and inn was very relaxing. The staff really tries to be a notch above all other places you could stay. I would definetely go back.

My husband and I spent 4 nights at the inn to celebrate his birthday. We stayed in the smallest room but it had everything we needed and we were amazed at the spaciousness of the bathroom. We both said we couldn't remember when we slept better. Special touches were a note when we arrived wishing him a happy birthday and a thermos of coffee in a basket outside the door each morning. The staff was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and shopping in Boone and Blowing Rock. Our only regret was that we weren't there on the weekend when the restaurant was open. If the breakfasts were a good example of the food, dinner would be fabulous. We hope to return on a weekend next time.

With the date of mine and my wife's 27th year Wedding Anniversary quickly approaching, I wanted to do something different, something simple, but yet memorable. I did as most executives do, I ask my loyal intern/friend, who (by the way) takes it as a personal "challenge and accomplishment" in life, to find the greatest deal, at the finest place, with the best food, ......all combined with an Architecturally Historic "story" and "atmosphere". Sounds impossible to find that "place", when it falls into the category of a "B&B for the weekend"??!! It's not impossible!! The Mast Farm Inn!! A GREAT B&B, in Valle Crucis, NC. A Beautiful Historic Register Architectural Showcase, with interior rooms appointed in fine decor, each reflecting individual character. We stayed in one of the several cottages (Gazebo Cottage), positioned on the grounds adjacent to the main house. (The ONLY negative for the whole week-end was the water pressure for the shower in the Gazebo Cottage) Please do something!! The privacy was IDEAL! The facilities were CLEAN (spotless), The Staff was like family! The food was Fabulous, unlike any other B&B we've been to! .....and I must say that the front desk reservationist, "Anna" was very courteous, informative, and professional (over the phone and in person)!! We were located 5 minutes from the heart of Valle Crucis, 15 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock, and 15 minutes from AppState, where our oldest son will attend this Fall. At checkout, NO SURPRISES!! NO ADD-ONS, NO PENALTIES!! It was exactly what we expected, and exact in what we had purchased! After everyone had checked out, (Sunday) we requested a quick walk-through, to view a few open rooms, so we could make a list of where we'll stay in the Fall, when we return. All in all, the best "stay" away from home we've experienced. We will never have to "look" again for a fantastic B&B in the Boone, NC area.

We booked through Groupon and got a fantastic rate. We wondered if we would be treated any differently since we weren't paying full price, but we were welcomed and treated royally. The room was great, the staff was friendly, attentive and organized. We had a deer outside our window in the morning - feeding in the garden. Very picturesque. Cute kittens and rabbits, too. We feel the breakfast met our expectations, but could have been a home run with a more focused server.

A great weekend to relax and look at the beautiful mountains. Food was outstanding and the staff went out of their way to meet my dietary restrictions related to diabetes. I would recommend this getaway to anyone searching for some quiet tranquility.

My wife and I wanted a short stay in the NC mountains while visiting relatives in Charlotte. Valle Crucis was a nice 2 hour drive from the city. The Mast Farm Inn was a wonderful stay for the one night. The Inn is in excellent condition and the breakfast was superb. The owners have done a great job keeping with the original feel of a farm house but providing modern plumbing and beds. We definitely will stay here again.

We spent almost a week in the Blacksmith's Shop in early June. It was a wonderful, relaxing, getaway in a beautiful location. Every detail was carefully handled and the owners/staff were gracious, friendly and helpful. Their accommodation of special dietary needs was most appreciated. This was my third stay and the food and lodging is unparalleled. We can't get enough of the Mast Farm Inn!

Our overnight stay was lovely until breakfast at the end. Omelet sliver and fried white/sweet potatoes were served cold. Also, we arrived to have our breakfast before an mother/daughter duo who were obviously friends of the innkeeper and they were served first.

My husband and I found just what we were looking for by renting a cabin from the Mast Farm Inn. Above all, the staff was exceptionally professional and friendly. We dined in their wonderful cozy restaurant and found each dish to be delicious and "unexpected". The meals were right up there with some of the finest restaurants we have experienced! Beyond a doubt, we would stay there again.

Everything was perfect about Mast Farm Inn -- the warm feeling of the house, the rooms, the food, service. I would highly recommend it.

Incredible B&B in a beautiful area. We stayed in the blacksmith shop which was very cute, cozy and comfortable. The pictures don't do it justice. Breakfast was so yummy and a vegetarian breakfast was served for my daughter who loved it and my bacon (which I call piggy candy) was scrumptious. Thanks you for sharing your special inn with us, we LOVED it!

We were not able to lock our room (you could from the inside while occupying, but not from the outside when leaving); the shower stall itself was small and awkward -- such a large shower head for such a small stall and a hanging soap/shampoo rack that was easily knocked out of place. The soaker tub was awesome! Coffee was not available until breakfast hours -- other B&Bs we have stayed at provide a coffee station much earlier which is a wonderful way to wake up before breakfast. Dinner was FABULOUS and our server personable and attentive and a delight. The breakfast was equally outstanding, but the early breakfast buffet for bike riders was a little scant. It would ahve been nice to have oatmeal on that cool morning before the ride. Nevertheless we had a great weekend despite the two big negatives -- the shower stall and no wake up coffee.

My husband and I spent a wonderful 4 days at the Inn, with no disturbances from the modern world, no phone, no TV, and no internet! We had romantic dinners, hiking, and just spent the time rejuvenating. The gourmet breakfasts were superb, served with a warm welcome, and the special dinners are first class. Our special anniversary dinner came with a personalized menu. We would recommend it highly.

I totally loved staying at this inn. It was a hidden paradise for myself and my partner. We felt completely comfortable and at ease being here. At first I was taken back when I saw there were no televisions but it was perfect without them. I really learned to enjoy quietness and time with my girlfriend. The only thing I did not particulary enjoy was breakfast but that is because I am a biscuit and gravy kind of girl. It was not bad at all just a little fancy for my taste buds. I can't wait to be back at Mast Farm Inn.

My husband and I stayed in the Loom House - on the property of the main inn- for two nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The house was perfect - plenty of privacy, quiet and well-appointed. Rocking chairs on the little porch were a perfect way to spend time drinking coffee and chatting or reading. The breakfasts are amazing - so delicious and very filling, so much so, you can easily forgo lunch. The staff are friendly and helpful, even helping my husband figure out how to get flowers placed in our room as a surprise for me. I highly recommend The Mast Farm Inn.

We stayed in the Miss Allie room the first night and the Blacksmith Cabin the second night. Both we VERY clean and nice. It was quiet and peaceful and we sat on the porch and the small pier at the pond and had time with each other, God and the great outdoors. There is the Mast General Store and Annex close by and all of Boone/Blowing Rock to explore. The food was very good if you enjoy Fine Dining. If you're more of a "plain food" type person you may not appreciate the food as much...but it was good! Great service too!

Our one night stay was professional from check in to check out. Personnel was extremely friendly, Ms Allie Room was cozy, and the food was great-compliments to the Chef with the food and the presentation. Breakfast was simple but tasty.

The Mast Farm Inn is a pleasant B+B on a very pretty road which runs through the town of Valle Crucis. We had a pleasant stay, but think the Inn is a bit pricey for what you get. The Inn is located very close to Broadstone Road, which is relatively busy, so you'll hear some road noise while here (if that's something that bothers you). The cabin we stayed in was very cute, but kind of stuffy for the summer. The breakfast was truly outstanding - we received a beautiful two course breakfast that used local, often homemade ingredients.

I have been visiting the Mast Farm Inn for the last 20 years or so. It keeps getting better as the years go by. The rooms are familiar and lovely. The service is phenomenal... you know the staff is there to make you happy. The food is PHENOMENAL. While it is worth a trip just for dinner but I highly encourage folks to spend the night. I live in Michigan now but will surely make the drive again to visit my friends at the Mast Farm Inn.

This was our first time at a bed and breakfast and we absolutly loved it. The blacksmith shop cabin we stayed in was delightful, and the food was fantastic. we will be planning on coming back one year in the fall.

Over a year ago my husband and I were trying to find the perfect place for our wedding. We visited the Mast Farm Inn on Valentine's Day 2010 and we charmed by the country yet classy feel of the Inn and the grounds. We were so thrilled to have dinner at Simplicity and have been served by the amazing waitress, Velva. We enjoyed talking with her about her family farm and her life in the mountains. The biggest treat was getting to try the fantastic food and meeting the incredible woman behind the food, Miss Danielle. After meeting Danielle we knew that the Mast Farm Inn was the perfect place for our wedding. Over the last year I have had the honor of working so closely with Danielle in creating the perfect weekend for our family and friends. She was incredibly supportive of my vision and worked so hard to make things perfect for our weekend. I was unbelievably impressed by her drive and genuine interest in her guests. When our special weekend for our wedding was final here, she went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect. She went out of her way to make me, the bride, as comfortable as I could be. I had no stress because I knew that she would make sure everything was perfect. Having her family so closely involved in the operation - her hardworking fiance Ken and her sweet mother -- was certainly a huge part of the equation. My wedding weekend went off without a hitch. It was the perfect event. Every person at our wedding thought it was the best wedding they had ever been to. I have no complaints. The Mast Farm Inn has the most beautiful location, the most kind people, and the most charming atmosphere. The best part of the whole experience was that my wedding planner became my dear friend and I look forward to going back many times in the future to visit the Mast Farm Inn family. Unfortunately, my stay was brief as the occasion that brought me to Mast Farm Inn was a wedding that will not soon be forgotten (nor surpassed in fun and excitement for that matter). Consequently, the amount of enjoyment that I had in that short period was in large credit to the great hospitality of Mast Farm Inn. The check in was fast, the staff entirely delightful and laid back, breakfast was amazing, and the grounds were extraordinarily beautiful. If I lived even remotely close, there would be no question that this place would be a cause for frequent visits. My only regret is that I was unable to stay longer. Roxie and the donkey were a highlight that you will certainly not enjoy at any other B&B, especially during the course of a wedding. Kudos for such a wonderful time!

We stayed in the Gazebo Cottage at Mast Farm Inn while visiting relatives in the area. The cottage was very well appointed, had access to a lovely hot tub, was clean, tidy, and overall extremely pleasant. The breakfast that was included with the room was absolutely delightful (waffles on Friday and quiche on Saturday). The farmhouse, which serves as the reception, lounge, and dining area was fabulous, well-maintained and very comfortable. The staff was knowledgable and helpful. A bit of a splurge overall for my budget, honestly, but worth every penny.

Beautifully kept grounds and rooms. Food was just OK, stayed for two nights and both breakfasts were very similar and ultra sweet both times, they also did not pay attention to my special dietary request...I did not make a big deal about it, but I know other travelers who would be extremely upset about something like this.

Mast Farm made this one of our favorite vacations ever. When we arrived we were able to pick from the unreserved rooms and all of the rooms are nice. The staff was accommodating for breakfast, and the location of the Inn is perfect since it is in between three towns - far enough to be private but still have short beautiful drives to go sightseeing. We highly recommend Mast Farm Inn for a mountain getaway.

Following our stay at the Mast Farm Inn in january we immediately made plans to return in spring. that was last weekend. consistancy is hard to find these days but this inn was just as exeptional as our first stay. they even remembered our details without being reminded! next stop is mid july.

It was such a wonderful weekend even though it was stormy and raining part of the weekend. We enjoyed the Friday 5PM champagne and the 8AM wake up coffee. We spent time reading & swinging on the wraparound porch dodginh the showers. The staff was fabulous with their help in locating points of interest and making dinner reservations for us. The food was outstanding and the servings were hefty. The MFI pays attention to every detail to make your stay as great as it can be.

We recently had the privilege of staying in the Woodwork Shop cabin at MFI. We loved it! The cabin was cozy, clean, and roomy! The attention to detail at MFI is second to none with a helpful and friendly staff. Our breakfast was scrumptious featuring more food than we could eat! We certainly will recommend MFI to family and friends and we hope to return!

I booked this trip for my husbands birthday and we loved every minute. The rooms are gorgeous and exceptionally clean. I have stayed in many hotels and the bedding and linens were by far the most comfortable. The innkeeper was very helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Cousin Sarah room and it was beautiful. You are only minutes from town but you would never know it. It was so peaceful and quiet. We plan on coming back in later spring or summer and take advantage of the wrap around porch and the pond out back.

This is definitely a hidden gem in Western North Carolina. The rooms are impeccable, the food is fantastic, and the staff are top notch. Will definitely be going back!

This historic building had all the modern conveniences, without taking away from the original aspects of the building/location. Breakfast each morning was outstanding! Their oatmeal is seriously the best thing ever... but each course was delicious in its own right. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Mast Farm Inn... whether you stay in the main house, or one of the other buildings on the property, they treat you like family and make you feel right at home!

We enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable, rooms were clean, and staff was very friendly. The only part we were slightly disappointed in was breakfast. The food we ate was good, but we thought there would be more offered to eat. We weren't completely full after what was served.

A stay in the Loom House was my husband's birthday gift to me. We more than needed to have some time to ourselves and some very special TLC. This was a most welcome break, and we completely enjoyed our lodging, dinner and breakfast, the wonderful staff and company of other guests. We live in a log cabin on our farm about 20 miles away yet we still find this a special place for special occasions. Can't wait to return!

We enjoyed our stay at "The Mast Farm Inn." The breakfast was wonderful. It felt like stepping into a time warp, we certainly went back in time. What fun!

We enjoyed a pleasant night at the Mast Farm Inn at the height of the fall leaves. The room was well equiped and scenic. The hosts were helpful in finding local meals and directions to sites. The morning breakfast was especially nice. We spoke with a number of other empty-nesters taking a drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains for the first time.

The staff here were so friendly and helpful, I was really pleased.

We stayed one night at the inn while on our honeymoon roadtrip through the area. We were in the Maple Springs Cottage. It was absolutely charming! Very tasteful, warm and welcoming. Everything you could want and more. We also had dinner at the restaurant. It came highly reccomended and managed to exceeded our expectations. We had four courses for dinner, all of which were delicious, seasonal and local. I would highly reccomend the inn and restaurant to anyone planning a visit to the area! We only wished we had booked in for more nights!

We stayed in the Woodwork Shop. The historic cabin was tastefully and comfortably appointed, and the (gas) woodstove kept us nice and toasty on a cool night! Will return to the Mast Farm Inn.
