It was a nice stay. They could have told us where the breakfast was held. Nobody showed up to serve breakfast. We weren't sure if they had already served or not. We showed up on time for 20 minutes. The place was cute they just should have communicat better.

We recently spent a night at Carrier Houses B&B (our fourth visit) and loved it! The houses are delightful, beautifully decorated, the rooms are comfortable and quiet. Lynn, the innkeeper, is gracious, friendly, and full of local information. She also provides a delightful breakfast each morning. We always enjoy Carrier Houses B&B, Lynn and her husband, and look forward to more visits with them.

After our first stay at the Carrier Houses several years ago we left with a very good impression and a desire to return. We have returned more than once drawn to the small town atmosphere and the gracious hospitality of Dan and Lynn. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhoods and learning more about the history of Rutherfordton. Sitting out on the front porch on a fall evening was refreshing. The nutritious breakfast around the table with other guests is a great way to start the day!

This place is a gem! Dan and Lynn are wonderful and accommodating hosts, and the western NC-themed rooms are a really nice touch. Temperatures were below freezing when I stayed, so I didn't hang outside for long-- but I imagine the gardens would be a wonderful place in which to relax, in warmer temperatures. The location is great, too; right on Main St, mere steps away from the Main St. business district. Breakfast was delicious and included blueberry puff pancakes, scrambled eggs, seasonal fruit, bacon, and the normal morning beverages. All were prepared with the utmost care. At the time of booking, accommodations were cheapest of all of the available hotel options in the area, including the national chains. After staying here, I can tell you that this place is a no-brainer, with a wonderful home-cooked breakfast to boot! I look forward to staying here again!!

The room met my expectations (although the bathroom door needs to be fixed so that it closes) and I enjoyed my stay.
We checked all of our bathroom doors and found one that needed extra effort to close, adjusted it and it works fine now. We do our best to keep our rooms safe, clean and comfortable and we appreciate it when our guests let us know if anything out of the ordinary needs our attention. Thanks.

My husband and I stayed at the Carriers House last weekend and had a very nice experience. Such a quaint, charming, interesting place. It is right in downtown Rutherfordon so you are walking distance to the shops, restaurant, children's museum, barber shop, etc. The owners, Lynne and Dan are friendly, inviting, very accommodating and excellent cooks! Our breakfasts were delicious and presentation is everything to them. We felt like we were actually spending a few nights with friends! We chose the Washburn room, which is decorated with magnolias., It was roomy enough, though the shower is very small. That is probably the only negative I found; but I adjusted. We had a couple other family members stay, as we were home for a memorial service. We enjoyed out time together at the lovely breakfast table. We were even given gold painted leaves to write out names and hometown on, to hang on the Christmas tree. If you want to stay in a cozy, charming, friendly B&B, you must give Carrier Houses a try. It was quite nice staying in a historic place that made me feel like I had gone back in time! Loved it. Thank you Lynne and Dan.

This was our first stay at Carrier House and had stayed in a bed and breakfast before and were not that impressed. Carrier House exceeded our expectations and gave us what we felt a B & B should be!. My husband and I were there for a long weekend in the fall and truly fell in love with this place. Dan and Lynn made us feel so welcome and made sure that no one left the breakfast table hungry, which was always delicious. Thanks for a great stay and latting us be a part of your Christmas with your ornaments!!
We're happy that you enjoyed your stay. Hope you've had a chance to check out the video of our Christmas tree on our Facebook page. Maybe you can see your ornament.

My husband and I stayed for just one night for a quick getaway to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, and didn't want to leave! Dan and Lynn are great hosts, that really make you feel welcome. This was our first stay in a bed and breakfast, and we loved it! They have jigsaw puzzles out, in the parlor, and I loved that! The breakfast was delicious, Lynn really has a talent in the kitchen! I also loved that you didn't have to be at the kitchen table at a certain time to eat, they actually give you a timeframe, which is way more relaxing and convenient. We plan to visit again! -The Cannon's
Thank you so much for the kind words. We are constantly striving to to create a warm, inviting atmosphere, and it is nice to know we are meeting with success. May you have many happy years together, and we hope to see you again soon.

This weekend my husband and I decided on the spur of the moment to get out of town for a day or so. We usually stay in chimney rock, but this time decide to stay in Rutherfordton and chose the Carrier House B and B.This was a wonderful experience;the room was quaint and decorated with an old world charm it included all ammenities. In addition, breakfast was served with charm and grace and was not only beautifully presented but tasted like a professional chef had prepared it. Our hosts were gracious and charming. We will go back!

My wife and daughter were in town for the night, and I surfed to find them a nice hotel to stay in the area. The prices at Carrier House here were similar to the area 2.5 star(and above) hotels, and it made me feel good to know that it would be a secure location and have an excellent breakfast. They really enjoyed the stay. My daughter is vegetarian and my wife does not eat pork, and they modified the recipes to make an AMAZING breakfast.

The proprietors were extremely gracious and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast very much -- tasty, good portion size, and nicely presented. The rooms are interestingly decorated with Victoriana, which was fun to see (and including the stories of the local gentry who are represented). Our (specific) room was perhaps a little cramped as a result, which is probably not a problem for most people except those with mobility limitations. All in all we would definitely return to the Carrier House if we were in the area again. This (2012) will be the 225th anniversary of the founding of the town, so a 'vacation' visit to the area would probably be extra fun.

I was looking for a place near Chimney Rock park, and the Carrier Houses was the cheapest and best reviewed in the area, and I was not disappointed. The rooms were very quaint and comfortable. Both of the owners were kind and very attentive. The entire place was clean, and the town of Rutherfordton was just a nice quiet small town. Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Carrier Houes!
